Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:17

أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

an arsil maʿanā banī isrāʾīla

"'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:18

قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ

qalā a-lam nurabbika fīnā walīdan wa-labithta fīnā min ʿumurika sinīna

(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:19

وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

wa-faʿalta faʿlataka allatī faʿalta wa-anta mina l-kāfirīna

"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:20

قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

qalā faʿaltuhā idhan wa-anā mina l-ḍāllīna

Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:21

فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

fa-farartu minkum lammā khiftukum fa-wahaba lī rabbī ḥukman wa-jaʿalanī mina l-mursalīna

"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:22

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

wa-tilka niʿmatun tamunnuhā ʿalayya an ʿabbadtta banī isrāʾīla

"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:23

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

qalā firʿawun wa-mā rabbu l-ʿālamīna

Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"
