Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:72

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ

qalā hal yasmaʿūnakum idh tadʿūna

He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?"

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:73

أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ

aw yanfaʿūnakum aw yaḍurrūna

"Or do you good or harm?"

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:74

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ

qālū bal wajadnā ābāʾanā ka-dhālika yafʿalūna

They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:75

قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

qalā a-fa-raʾaytum mā kuntum taʿbudūna

He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,-

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:76

أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ

antum wa-ābāukumu l-aqdamūna

"Ye and your fathers before you?-

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:77

فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

fainnahum ʿaduwwun llī illā rabba l-ʿālamīna

"For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds;

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:78

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ

alladhī khalaqanī fa-huwa yahdīni

"Who created me, and it is He Who guides me;
