Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:96

وَٱللَّـهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

wallāhu khalaqakum wa-mā taʿmalūna

"But Allah has created you and your handwork!"

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:97

قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ

qālū ibnū lahu bunyānan fa-alqūhu fī l-jaḥīmi

They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!"

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:98

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ

fa-arādū bihi kaydan fa-jaʿalnāhumu l-asfalīna

(This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated!

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:99

وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ

wa-qāla innī dhāhibun ilā rabbī sa-yahdīni

He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me!

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:100

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

rabbi hab lī mina l-ṣāliḥīna

"O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!"

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:101

فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ

fa-bashsharnāhu bi-ghulāmin ḥalīmin

So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear.

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:102

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ

fa-lammā balagha maʿahu l-saʿya qalā yā-bunayya innī ara fī l-manāmi annī adhbaḥuka fa-inẓur mādhā tara qalā yā-abati ifʿal mā tuʾmaru sa-tajidunī in shāʾa allāhu mina l-ṣābirīna

Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"
