Sura Ṣād 38:68

أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ

antum ʿanhu muʿriḍūna

"From which ye do turn away!

Sura Ṣād 38:69

مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنْ عِلْمٍۭ بِٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰٓ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ

mā kāna liya min ʿilmin bil-malaʾi l-aʿlā idh yakhtaṣimūna

"No knowledge have I of the Chiefs on high, when they discuss (matters) among themselves.

Sura Ṣād 38:70

إِن يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِلَّآ أَنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

in yūḥā ilayya illā annamā anā nadhīrun mubīnun

'Only this has been revealed to me: that I am to give warning plainly and publicly."

Sura Ṣād 38:71

إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ

idh qalā rabbuka lil-malāʾikati innī khāliqun basharan min ṭīnin

Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from clay:

Sura Ṣād 38:72

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ

fa-idhā sawwaytuhu wa-nafakhtu fīhi min rrūḥī fa-qaʿū lahu sājidīna

"When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him."

Sura Ṣād 38:73

فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ

fa-sajada l-malāʾikatu kulluhum ajmaʿūna

So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:

Sura Ṣād 38:74

إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ ٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

illā iblīsa istakbara wa-kāna mina l-kāfirīna

Not so Iblis: he was haughty, and became one of those who reject Faith.
