Sura al-Maʿārij 70:2

لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ

lil-kāfirīna laysa lahu dāfiʿun

The Unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off,-

Sura al-Maʿārij 70:3

مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ

mina allāhi dhī l-maʿāriji

(A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent.

Sura al-Maʿārij 70:4

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ

taʿruju l-malāʾikatu wa-l-rūḥu ilayhi fī yawmin kāna miqdāruhu khamsīna alfa sanatin

The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years:

Sura al-Maʿārij 70:5

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا

fa-iṣbir ṣabran jamīlan

Therefore do thou hold Patience,- a Patience of beautiful (contentment).

Sura al-Maʿārij 70:6

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا

innahum yarawnahu baʿīdan

They see the (Day) indeed as a far-off (event):

Sura al-Maʿārij 70:7

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا

wa-narāhu qarīban

But We see it (quite) near.

Sura al-Maʿārij 70:8

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ

yawma takūnu l-samāʾu ka-l-muhli

The Day that the sky will be like molten brass,
