Sura al-Balad 90:10

وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ

wa-hadaynāhu l-najdayni

And shown him the two highways?

Sura al-Balad 90:11

فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ

fa-lā iqtaḥama l-ʿaqabata

But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.

Sura al-Balad 90:12

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ

wa-mā adrāka mā l-ʿaqabatu

And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-

Sura al-Balad 90:13

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ

fakku raqabatin

(It is:) freeing the bondman;

Sura al-Balad 90:14

أَوْ إِطْعَٰمٌ فِى يَوْمٍ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍ

aw iṭʿāmun fī yawmin dhī masghabatin

Or the giving of food in a day of privation

Sura al-Balad 90:15

يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ

yatīman dhā maqrabatin

To the orphan with claims of relationship,

Sura al-Balad 90:16

أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ

aw miskīnan dhā matrabatin

Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.
