Sura al-Naḥl 16:4

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ

khalaqa l-insāna min nuṭfatin fa-idhā huwa khaṣīmun mubīnun

He has created man from a sperm-drop; and behold this same (man) becomes an open disputer!

Sura al-Kahf 18:37

قَالَ لَهُۥ صَاحِبُهُۥ وَهُوَ يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ أَكَفَرْتَ بِٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ مِن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰكَ رَجُلًا

qalā lahu ṣāḥibuhu wa-huwa yuḥāwiruhu akafarta bi-lladhī khalaqaka min turābin thumma min nuṭfatin thumma sawwaka rajulan

His companion said to him, in the course of the argument with him: "Dost thou deny Him Who created thee out of dust, then out of a sperm-drop, then fashioned thee into a man?

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:13

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰهُ نُطْفَةً فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ

thumma jaʿalnāhu nuṭfatan fī qarārin makīnin

Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed;

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:14

ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا ٱلنُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْمُضْغَةَ عِظَٰمًا فَكَسَوْنَا ٱلْعِظَٰمَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَٰهُ خَلْقًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّـهُ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ

thumma khalaqnā l-nuṭfata ʿalaqatan fa-khalaqnā l-ʿalaqata muḍghatan fa-khalaqnā l-muḍghata ʿiẓāman fa-kasawnā l-ʿiẓāma laḥman thumma anshaʾnāhu khalqan ākhara fa-tabāraka allāhu aḥsanu l-khāliqīna

Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create!

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:11

وَٱللَّـهُ خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِن مُّعَمَّرٍ وَلَا يُنقَصُ مِنْ عُمُرِهِۦٓ إِلَّا فِى كِتَٰبٍ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ يَسِيرٌ

wallāhu khalaqakum min turābin thumma min nuṭfatin thumma jaʿalakum azwājan wa-mā taḥmilu min unthā wa-lā taḍaʿu illā biʿilmihi wa-mā yuʿammaru min muʿammarin wa-lā yunqaṣu min ʿumurihi illā fī kitābin inna dhālika ʿalā allāhi yasīrun

And Allah did create you from dust; then from a sperm-drop; then He made you in pairs. And no female conceives, or lays down (her load), but with His knowledge. Nor is a man long-lived granted length of days, nor is a part cut off from his life, but is in a Decree (ordained). All this is easy to Allah.

Sura Yā Sin 36:77

أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ

a-wa-lam yarā l-insānu annā khalaqnāhu min nuṭfatin fa-idhā huwa khaṣīmun mubīnun

Doth not man see that it is We Who created him from sperm? yet behold! he (stands forth) as an open adversary!

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:67

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا۟ شُيُوخًا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

huwa alladhī khalaqakum min turābin thumma min nuṭfatin thumma min ʿalaqatin thumma yukhrijukum ṭiflan thumma li-tablughū ashuddakum thumma li-takūnū shuyūkhan wa-minkum man yutawaffā min qablu wa-li-tablughū ajalan musamman wa-la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm-drop, then from a leech-like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old,- though of you there are some who die before;- and lets you reach a Term appointed; in order that ye may learn wisdom.

Sura al-Najm 53:46

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ

min nuṭfatin idhā tumnā

From a seed when lodged (in its place);

Sura al-Qiyāmah 75:37

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ

a-lam yaku nuṭfatan min maniyyin yumnā

Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)?

Sura al-Insān 76:2

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا

innā khalaqnā l-insāna min nuṭfatin amshājin nnabtalīhi fa-jaʿalnāhu samīʿan baṣīran

Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight.

Sura al-ʿAbasa 80:19

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ

min nuṭfatin khalaqahu fa-qaddarahu

From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
