Say: "Shall we indeed call on others besides Allah,- things that can do us neither good nor harm,- and turn on our heels after receiving guidance from Allah? - like one whom the evil ones have made into a fool, wandering bewildered through the earth, his friends calling, come to us', (vainly) guiding him to the path." Say: "Allah's guidance is the (only) guidance, and we have been directed to submit ourselves to the Lord of the worlds;-

It is Allah Who causeth the seed-grain and the date-stone to split and sprout. He causeth the living to issue from the dead, and He is the one to cause the dead to issue from the living. That is Allah: then how are ye deluded away from the truth?
(6:99)

It is He Who sendeth down rain from the skies: with it We produce vegetation of all kinds: from some We produce green (crops), out of which We produce grain, heaped up (at harvest); out of the date-palm and its sheaths (or spathes) (come) clusters of dates hanging low and near: and (then there are) gardens of grapes, and olives, and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety): when they begin to bear fruit, feast your eyes with the fruit and the ripeness thereof. Behold! in these things there are signs for people who believe.

(Take) eight (head of cattle) in (four) pairs: of sheep a pair, and of goats a pair; say, hath He forbidden the two males, or the two females, or (the young) which the wombs of the two females enclose? Tell me with knowledge if ye are truthful:

For those who followed the Jewish Law, We forbade every (animal) with undivided hoof, and We forbade them that fat of the ox and the sheep, except what adheres to their backs or their entrails, or is mixed up with a bone: this in recompense for their wilful disobedience: for We are true (in Our ordinances).

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:18)

(Allah) said: "Get out from this, disgraced and expelled. If any of them follow thee,- Hell will I fill with you all.

O ye Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover your shame, as well as to be an adornment to you. But the raiment of righteousness,- that is the best. Such are among the Signs of Allah, that they may receive admonition!
(7:54)

Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!
(7:58)

From the land that is clean and good, by the will of its Cherisher, springs up produce, (rich) after its kind: but from the land that is bad, springs up nothing but that which is niggardly: thus do we explain the signs by various (symbols) to those who are grateful.
(7:74)

وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟  إِذْ  جَعَلَكُمْ  خُلَفَآءَ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  عَادٍ  وَبَوَّأَكُمْ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  تَتَّخِذُونَ  مِن  سُهُولِهَا  قُصُورًا  وَتَنْحِتُونَ  ٱلْجِبَالَ  بُيُوتًا  فَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟  ءَالَآءَ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَلَا  تَعْثَوْا۟  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  مُفْسِدِينَ wa‑idhkurū idh jaʿalakum khulafāʾa min baʿdi ʿādin wa‑bawwaʾakum l‑arḍi tattakhidhūna min suhūlihā quṣūran wa‑tanḥitūna l‑jibāla buyūtan fa‑udhkurū ālāʾa allāhi wa‑lā taʿthaw l‑arḍi mufsidīna
"And remember how He made you inheritors after the 'Ad people and gave you habitations in the land: ye build for yourselves palaces and castles in (open) plains, and care out homes in the mountains; so bring to remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah, and refrain from evil and mischief on the earth."
(7:133)

So We sent (plagues) on them: Wholesale death, Locusts, Lice, Frogs, And Blood: Signs openly self-explained: but they were steeped in arrogance,- a people given to sin.
(7:150)

When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin."
(7:154)

وَلَمَّا  سَكَتَ  عَن  مُّوسَى  ٱلْغَضَبُ  أَخَذَ  ٱلْأَلْوَاحَ  وَفِى  نُسْخَتِهَا  هُدًى  وَرَحْمَةٌ  لِّلَّذِينَ  هُمْ  لِرَبِّهِمْ  يَرْهَبُونَ wa‑lammā sakata ʿan mūsā l‑ghaḍabu akhadha l‑alwāḥa wa‑fī nuskhatihā hudan wa‑raḥmatun li‑lladhīna hum li‑rabbihim yarhabūna
When the anger of Moses was appeased, he took up the tablets: in the writing thereon was guidance and Mercy for such as fear their Lord.

We divided them into twelve tribes or nations. We directed Moses by inspiration, when his (thirsty) people asked him for water: "Strike the rock with thy staff": out of it there gushed forth twelve springs: Each group knew its own place for water. We gave them the shade of clouds, and sent down to them manna and quails, (saying): "Eat of the good things We have provided for you": (but they rebelled); to Us they did no harm, but they harmed their own souls.
(7:171)

When We shook the Mount over them, as if it had been a canopy, and they thought it was going to fall on them (We said): "Hold firmly to what We have given you, and bring (ever) to remembrance what is therein; perchance ye may fear Allah."

Surah 11 Hūd (Hud)
(11:31)

Nor yet do I say, of those whom your eyes do despise that Allah will not grant them (all) that is good: Allah knoweth best what is in their souls: I should, if I did, indeed be a wrong-doer."
(11:44)

Then the word went forth: "O earth! swallow up thy water, and O sky! Withhold (thy rain)!" and the water abated, and the matter was ended. The Ark rested on Mount Judi, and the word went forth: "Away with those who do wrong!"

There came Our messengers to Abraham with glad tidings. They said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" and hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf.

"Slay ye Joseph or cast him out to some (unknown) land, that so the favour of your father may be given to you alone: (there will be time enough) for you to be righteous after that!"
(12:12)

The (Brethren) sold him for a miserable price, for a few dirhams counted out: in such low estimation did they hold him!
(12:23)

But she in whose house he was, sought to seduce him from his (true) self: she fastened the doors, and said: "Now come, thou (dear one)!" He said: "Allah forbid! truly (thy husband) is my lord! he made my sojourn agreeable! truly to no good come those who do wrong!"
(12:30)

Ladies said in the City: "The wife of the (great) 'Aziz is seeking to seduce her slave from his (true) self: Truly hath he inspired her with violent love: we see she is evidently going astray."
(12:36)

Now with him there came into the prison two young men. Said one of them: "I see myself (in a dream) pressing wine." said the other: "I see myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head, and birds are eating, thereof." "Tell us" (they said) "The truth and meaning thereof: for we see thou art one that doth good (to all)."

(The king) said (to the ladies): "What was your affair when ye did seek to seduce Joseph from his (true) self?" The ladies said: "Allah preserve us! no evil know we against him!" Said the 'Aziz's wife: "Now is the truth manifest (to all): it was I who sought to seduce him from his (true) self: He is indeed of those who are (ever) true (and virtuous).

Then when they opened their baggage, they found their stock-in-trade had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity.

They said: "We miss the great beaker of the king; for him who produces it, is (the reward of) a camel load; I will be bound by it."
(12:85)

They said: "By Allah! (never) wilt thou cease to remember Joseph until thou reach the last extremity of illness, or until thou die!"
(12:92)

When the caravan left (Egypt), their father said: "I do indeed scent the presence of Joseph: Nay, think me not a dotard."

Surah 13 al-Raʿd (The Thunder)
(13:13)

Nay, thunder repeateth His praises, and so do the angels, with awe: He flingeth the loud-voiced thunder-bolts, and therewith He striketh whomsoever He will..yet these (are the men) who (dare to) dispute about Allah, with the strength of His power (supreme)!

He sends down water from the skies, and the channels flow, each according to its measure: But the torrent bears away to foam that mounts up to the surface. Even so, from that (ore) which they heat in the fire, to make ornaments or utensils therewith, there is a scum likewise. Thus doth Allah (by parables) show forth Truth and Vanity. For the scum disappears like forth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth. Thus doth Allah set forth parables.

Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham)
(14:17)

In gulps will he sip it, but never will he be near swallowing it down his throat: death will come to him from every quarter, yet will he not die: and in front of him will be a chastisement unrelenting.
(14:18)

مَّثَلُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  بِرَبِّهِمْ  أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ  كَرَمَادٍ  ٱشْتَدَّتْ  بِهِ  ٱلرِّيحُ  فِى  يَوْمٍ  عَاصِفٍ  لَّا  يَقْدِرُونَ  مِمَّا  كَسَبُوا۟  عَلَىٰ  شَىْءٍ  ذَٰلِكَ  هُوَ  ٱلضَّلَٰلُ  ٱلْبَعِيدُ mathalu lladhīna kafarū bi‑rabbihim aʿmāluhum karamādin ishtaddat bihi l‑rīḥu yawmin ʿāṣifin yaqdirūna mimmā kasabū ʿalā shayʾin dhālika huwa l‑ḍalālu l‑baʿīdu
The parable of those who reject their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a tempestuous day: No power have they over aught that they have earned: that is the straying far, far (from the goal).
(14:24)

أَلَمْ  تَرَ  كَيْفَ  ضَرَبَ  ٱللَّـهُ  مَثَلًا  كَلِمَةً  طَيِّبَةً  كَشَجَرَةٍ  طَيِّبَةٍ  أَصْلُهَا  ثَابِتٌ  وَفَرْعُهَا  فِى  ٱلسَّمَآءِ a‑lam tara kayfa ḍaraba allāhu mathalan kalimatan ṭayyibatan kashajaratin ṭayyibatin aṣluhā thābitun wa‑farʿuhā l‑samāʾi
Seest thou not how Allah sets forth a parable? - A goodly word like a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the heavens,- of its Lord. So Allah sets forth parables for men, in order that they may receive admonition.
(14:26)

And the parable of an evil Word is that of an evil tree: It is torn up by the root from the surface of the earth: it has no stability.

Surah 15 al-Ḥijr (The Rocky Tract)
(15:22)

وَأَرْسَلْنَا  ٱلرِّيَٰحَ  لَوَٰقِحَ  فَأَنزَلْنَا  مِنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مَآءً  فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ  وَمَآ  أَنتُمْ  لَهُۥ  بِخَٰزِنِينَ wa‑arsalnā l‑riyāḥa lawāqiḥa fa‑anzalnā mina l‑samāʾi māʾan fa‑asqaynākumūhu wa‑mā antum lahu bikhāzinīna
And We send the fecundating winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water (in abundance), though ye are not the guardians of its stores.

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:5)

وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمَ  خَلَقَهَا  لَكُمْ  فِيهَا  دِفْءٌ  وَمَنَٰفِعُ  وَمِنْهَا  تَأْكُلُونَ wa‑l‑anʿāma khalaqahā la‑kum fīhā difʾun wa‑manāfiʿu wa‑minhā taʾkulūna
And cattle He has created for you (men): from them ye derive warmth, and numerous benefits, and of their (meat) ye eat.

And (He has created) horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride and use for show; and He has created (other) things of which ye have no knowledge.
(16:59)

With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and) contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on?
(16:66)

And verily in cattle (too) will ye find an instructive sign. From what is within their bodies between excretions and blood, We produce, for your drink, milk, pure and agreeable to those who drink it.
(16:72)

وَٱللَّـهُ  جَعَلَ  لَكُم  مِّنْ  أَنفُسِكُمْ  أَزْوَٰجًا  وَجَعَلَ  لَكُم  مِّنْ  أَزْوَٰجِكُم  بَنِينَ  وَحَفَدَةً  وَرَزَقَكُم  مِّنَ  ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ  أَفَبِٱلْبَٰطِلِ  يُؤْمِنُونَ  وَبِنِعْمَتِ  ٱللَّـهِ  هُمْ  يَكْفُرُونَ wallāhu jaʿala la‑kum min anfusikum azwājan wa‑jaʿala la‑kum min azwājikum banīna wa‑ḥafadatan wa‑razaqakum mina l‑ṭayyibāti a‑fa‑bil‑bāṭili yuʾminūna wa‑biniʿmati allāhi hum yakfurūna
And Allah has made for you mates (and companions) of your own nature, and made for you, out of them, sons and daughters and grandchildren, and provided for you sustenance of the best: will they then believe in vain things, and be ungrateful for Allah's favours?-
(16:79)

أَلَمْ  يَرَوْا۟  إِلَى  ٱلطَّيْرِ  مُسَخَّرَٰتٍ  فِى  جَوِّ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مَا  يُمْسِكُهُنَّ  إِلَّا  ٱللَّـهُ  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  لِّقَوْمٍ  يُؤْمِنُونَ a‑lam yaraw ilā l‑ṭayri musakhkharātin jawwi l‑samāʾi yumsikuhunna illā allāhu inna dhālika la‑āyātin li‑qawmin yuʾminūna
Do they not look at the birds, held poised in the midst of (the air and) the sky? Nothing holds them up but (the power of) Allah. Verily in this are signs for those who believe.

وَٱللَّـهُ  جَعَلَ  لَكُم  مِّنۢ  بُيُوتِكُمْ  سَكَنًا  وَجَعَلَ  لَكُم  مِّن  جُلُودِ  ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ  بُيُوتًا  تَسْتَخِفُّونَهَا  يَوْمَ  ظَعْنِكُمْ  وَيَوْمَ  إِقَامَتِكُمْ  وَمِنْ  أَصْوَافِهَا  وَأَوْبَارِهَا  وَأَشْعَارِهَآ  أَثَٰثًا  وَمَتَٰعًا  إِلَىٰ  حِينٍ wallāhu jaʿala la‑kum min buyūtikum sakanan wa‑jaʿala la‑kum min julūdi l‑anʿāmi buyūtan tastakhiffūnahā yawma ẓaʿnikum wa‑yawma iqāmatikum wa‑min aṣwāfihā wa‑awbārihā wa‑ashʿārihā athāthan wa‑matāʿan ilā ḥīnin
It is Allah Who made your habitations homes of rest and quiet for you; and made for you, out of the skins of animals, (tents for) dwellings, which ye find so light (and handy) when ye travel and when ye stop (in your travels); and out of their wool, and their soft fibres (between wool and hair), and their hair, rich stuff and articles of convenience (to serve you) for a time.
(16:91)

Fulfil the Covenant of Allah when ye have entered into it, and break not your oaths after ye have confirmed them; indeed ye have made Allah your surety; for Allah knoweth all that ye do.
(16:92)

وَلَا  تَكُونُوا۟  كَٱلَّتِى  نَقَضَتْ  غَزْلَهَا  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  قُوَّةٍ  أَنكَٰثًا  تَتَّخِذُونَ  أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ  دَخَلًۢا  بَيْنَكُمْ  أَن  تَكُونَ  أُمَّةٌ  هِىَ  أَرْبَىٰ  مِنْ  أُمَّةٍ  إِنَّمَا  يَبْلُوكُمُ  ٱللَّـهُ  بِهِۦ  وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ  لَكُمْ  يَوْمَ  ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ  مَا  كُنتُمْ  فِيهِ  تَخْتَلِفُونَ wa‑lā takūnū ka‑llatī naqaḍat ghazlahā min baʿdi quwwatin ankāthan tattakhidhūna aymānakum dakhalan baynakum an takūna ummatun hiya arba min ummatin innamā yablūkumu allāhu bihi wa‑layubayyinanna la‑kum yawma l‑qiyāmati kuntum fīhi takhtalifūna
And be not like a woman who breaks into untwisted strands the yarn which she has spun, after it has become strong. Nor take your oaths to practise deception between yourselves, lest one party should be more numerous than another: for Allah will test you by this; and on the Day of Judgment He will certainly make clear to you (the truth of) that wherein ye disagree.
