Surah 55 al-Raḥmān (The Merciful)

(55:10)

وَٱلْأَرْضَ  وَضَعَهَا  لِلْأَنَامِ wa‑l‑arḍa waḍaʿahā lil‑anāmi
It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures:
(55:26)

كُلُّ  مَنْ  عَلَيْهَا  فَانٍ kullu man ʿalayhā fānin
All that is on earth will perish:
(55:27)

وَيَبْقَىٰ  وَجْهُ  رَبِّكَ  ذُو  ٱلْجَلَٰلِ  وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ wa‑yabqā wajhu rabbika dhū l‑jalāli wa‑l‑ikrāmi
But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour.
(55:33)

يَٰمَعْشَرَ  ٱلْجِنِّ  وَٱلْإِنسِ  إِنِ  ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ  أَن  تَنفُذُوا۟  مِنْ  أَقْطَارِ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  فَٱنفُذُوا۟  لَا  تَنفُذُونَ  إِلَّا  بِسُلْطَٰنٍ yā‑maʿshara l‑jinni wa‑l‑insi ini istaṭaʿtum an tanfudhū min aqṭāri l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi fa‑infudhū tanfudhūna illā bi‑sulṭānin
O ye assembly of Jinns and men! If it be ye can pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, pass ye! not without authority shall ye be able to pass!
(55:35)

يُرْسَلُ  عَلَيْكُمَا  شُوَاظٌ  مِّن  نَّارٍ  وَنُحَاسٌ  فَلَا  تَنتَصِرَانِ yursalu ʿalaykumā shuwāẓun min nnārin wa‑nuḥāsun fa‑lā tantaṣirāni
On you will be sent (O ye evil ones twain!) a flame of fire (to burn) and a smoke (to choke): no defence will ye have:
(55:48)

ذَوَاتَآ  أَفْنَانٍ dhawātā afnānin
Containing all kinds (of trees and delights);-
(55:56)

فِيهِنَّ  قَٰصِرَٰتُ  ٱلطَّرْفِ  لَمْ  يَطْمِثْهُنَّ  إِنسٌ  قَبْلَهُمْ  وَلَا  جَآنٌّ fī‑hinna qāṣirātu l‑ṭarfi lam yaṭmithhunna insun qablahum wa‑lā jānnun
In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;-
(55:64)

مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ mudhāmmatāni
Dark-green in colour (from plentiful watering).
(55:66)

فِيهِمَا  عَيْنَانِ  نَضَّاخَتَانِ fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍākhatāni
In them (each) will be two Springs pouring forth water in continuous abundance:
(55:72)

حُورٌ  مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ  فِى  ٱلْخِيَامِ ḥūrun maqṣūrātun l‑khiyāmi
Companions restrained (as to their glances), in (goodly) pavilions;-
(55:74)

لَمْ  يَطْمِثْهُنَّ  إِنسٌ  قَبْلَهُمْ  وَلَا  جَآنٌّ lam yaṭmithhunna insun qablahum wa‑lā jānnun
Whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;-
(55:76)

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ  عَلَىٰ  رَفْرَفٍ  خُضْرٍ  وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ  حِسَانٍ muttakiʾīna ʿalā rafrafin khuḍrin wa‑ʿabqariyyin ḥisānin
Reclining on green Cushions and rich Carpets of beauty.
(55:78)

تَبَٰرَكَ  ٱسْمُ  رَبِّكَ  ذِى  ٱلْجَلَٰلِ  وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ tabāraka smu rabbika dhī l‑jalāli wa‑l‑ikrāmi
Blessed be the name of thy Lord, full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour.
