(2:34) | وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ | wa‑idh qulnā lil‑malāʾikati isjudū li‑ādama fa‑sajadū illā iblīsa aba wa‑istakbara wa‑kāna mina l‑kāfirīna | And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they
bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who
reject Faith.
Sura al-Baqara 2:34 وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ wa-idh qulnā lil-malāʾikati isjudū li-ādama fa-sajadū illā iblīsa aba wa-istakbara wa-kāna mina l-kāfirīna And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith. |
(2:282) | يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَدَايَنتُم بِدَيْنٍ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَٱكْتُبُوهُ وَلْيَكْتُب بَّيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبٌۢ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ أَن يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ ٱللَّـهُ فَلْيَكْتُبْ وَلْيُمْلِلِ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ ٱللَّـهَ رَبَّهُۥ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا فَإِن كَانَ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ سَفِيهًا أَوْ ضَعِيفًا أَوْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَن يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُۥ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ شَهِيدَيْنِ مِن رِّجَالِكُمْ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَٱمْرَأَتَانِ مِمَّن تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءِ أَن تَضِلَّ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ وَلَا يَأْبَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءُ إِذَا مَا دُعُوا۟ وَلَا تَسْـَٔمُوٓا۟ أَن تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغِيرًا أَوْ كَبِيرًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلِهِۦ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ وَأَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَٰدَةِ وَأَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَرْتَابُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً حَاضِرَةً تُدِيرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَا وَأَشْهِدُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْ وَلَا يُضَآرَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَهِيدٌ وَإِن تَفْعَلُوا۟ فَإِنَّهُۥ فُسُوقٌۢ بِكُمْ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱللَّـهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ | yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā tadāyantum bi‑daynin ila ajalin musamman fa‑uktubūhu wa‑l‑yaktub baynakum kātibun bil‑ʿadli wa‑lā yaʾba kātibun an yaktuba ka‑mā ʿallamahu allāhu fa‑l‑yaktub wa‑l‑yumlili alladhī ʿalayhi l‑ḥaqqu wa‑l‑yattaqi allāha rabbahu wa‑lā yabkhas minhu shayʾan fa‑in kāna alladhī ʿalayhi l‑ḥaqqu safīhan aw ḍaʿīfan aw lā yastaṭīʿu an yumilla huwa fa‑lyumlil walīyuhu bil‑ʿadli wa‑istashhidū shahīdayni min rijālikum fa‑in lam yakūnā rajulayni fa‑rajulun wa‑amraʾatāni mimman tarḍawna mina l‑shuhadāʾi an taḍilla iḥdāhumā fa‑tudhakkira iḥdāhumā l‑ukhrā wa‑lā yaʾba l‑suhadāʾu idhā mā duʿū wa‑lā tasʾamū an taktubūhu ṣaghīran aw kabīran ila ajalihi dhālikum aqsaṭu ʿinda allāhi wa‑aqwamu lil‑shahādati wa‑adna allā tartābū illā an takūna tijāratan ḥāḍiratan tudīrūnahā baynakum fa‑laysa ʿalaykum junāḥun allā taktubūhā wa‑ashhidū idhā tabāyaʿtum wa‑lā yuḍārra kātibun wa‑lā shahīdun wa‑in tafʿalū fa‑innahu fusūqun bikum wa‑ittaqū allāha wayuʿallimukumu allāhu wallāhu bi‑kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun | O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties: let not the scribe refuse to write: as Allah Has taught him, so let him write. Let him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear His Lord Allah, and not diminish aught of what he owes. If the party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable Himself to dictate, Let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her. The witnesses should not refuse when they are called on (For evidence). Disdain not to reduce to writing (your contract) for a future period, whether it be small or big: it is juster in the sight of Allah, More suitable as evidence, and more convenient to prevent doubts among yourselves but if it be a transaction which ye carry out on the spot among yourselves, there is no blame on you if ye reduce it not to writing. But take witness whenever ye make a commercial contract; and let neither scribe nor witness suffer harm. If ye do (such harm), it would be wickedness in you. So fear Allah; For it is Allah that teaches you. And Allah is well acquainted with all things.

(9:32) | يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِـُٔوا۟ نُورَ ٱللَّـهِ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَيَأْبَى ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّآ أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ | yurīdūna an yuṭfiʾū nūra allāhi bi‑afwāhihim wa‑yaʾbā allāhu illā an yutimma nūrahu wa‑law kariha l‑kāfirūna | Fain would they extinguish Allah's light with their mouths, but
Allah will not allow but that His light should be perfected, even though the
Unbelievers may detest (it).
Sura al-Tawbah 9:32 يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِـُٔوا۟ نُورَ ٱللَّـهِ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَيَأْبَى ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّآ أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ yurīdūna an yuṭfiʾū nūra allāhi bi-afwāhihim wa-yaʾbā allāhu illā an yutimma nūrahu wa-law kariha l-kāfirūna Fain would they extinguish Allah's light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow but that His light should be perfected, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it). |
(15:31) | إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ | illā iblīsa aba an yakūna maʿa l‑sājidīna | Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated
themselves.
Sura al-Ḥijr 15:31 إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ illā iblīsa aba an yakūna maʿa l-sājidīna Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. |
(17:89) | وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا | wa‑la‑qad ṣarrafnā lil‑nāsi fī hādhā l‑qurʾāni min kulli mathalin fa‑abā aktharu l‑nāsi illā kufūran | And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of
similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with
ingratitude!
Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:89 وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا wa-la-qad ṣarrafnā lil-nāsi fī hādhā l-qurʾāni min kulli mathalin fa-abā aktharu l-nāsi illā kufūran And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! |
(17:99) | أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمْ أَجَلًا لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورًا | a‑wa‑lam yaraw annā allāha alladhī khalaqa l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍa qādirun ʿala an yakhluqa mithlahum wa‑jaʿala lahum ajalan lā rayba fīhi faaba l‑ẓālimūna illā kufūran | See they not that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth,
has power to create the like of them (anew)? Only He has decreed a term
appointed, of which there is no doubt. But the unjust refuse (to receive
it) except with ingratitude.
Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:99 أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمْ أَجَلًا لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورًا a-wa-lam yaraw annā allāha alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍa qādirun ʿala an yakhluqa mithlahum wa-jaʿala lahum ajalan lā rayba fīhi faaba l-ẓālimūna illā kufūran See they not that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, has power to create the like of them (anew)? Only He has decreed a term appointed, of which there is no doubt. But the unjust refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude. |
(18:77) | فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَيَآ أَهْلَ قَرْيَةٍ ٱسْتَطْعَمَآ أَهْلَهَا فَأَبَوْا۟ أَن يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا فَوَجَدَا فِيهَا جِدَارًا يُرِيدُ أَن يَنقَضَّ فَأَقَامَهُۥ قَالَ لَوْ شِئْتَ لَتَّخَذْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا | fa‑inṭalaqā ḥatta idhā atayā ahla qaryatin astaṭʿamā ahlahā faabaw an yuḍayyifūhumā fa‑wajadā fīhā jidāran yurīdu an yanqaḍḍa faaqāmahu qalā law shiʾta lattakhadhta ʿalayhi ajran | Then they proceeded: until, when they came to the inhabitants
of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused them hospitality.
They found there a wall on the point of falling down, but he set it up
straight. (Moses) said: "If thou hadst wished, surely thou couldst have
exacted some recompense for it!"
Sura al-Kahf 18:77 فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَيَآ أَهْلَ قَرْيَةٍ ٱسْتَطْعَمَآ أَهْلَهَا فَأَبَوْا۟ أَن يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا فَوَجَدَا فِيهَا جِدَارًا يُرِيدُ أَن يَنقَضَّ فَأَقَامَهُۥ قَالَ لَوْ شِئْتَ لَتَّخَذْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا fa-inṭalaqā ḥatta idhā atayā ahla qaryatin astaṭʿamā ahlahā faabaw an yuḍayyifūhumā fa-wajadā fīhā jidāran yurīdu an yanqaḍḍa faaqāmahu qalā law shiʾta lattakhadhta ʿalayhi ajran Then they proceeded: until, when they came to the inhabitants of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused them hospitality. They found there a wall on the point of falling down, but he set it up straight. (Moses) said: "If thou hadst wished, surely thou couldst have exacted some recompense for it!" |
(20:56) | وَلَقَدْ أَرَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ | wa‑la‑qad araynāhu āyātinā kullahā fa‑kadhdhaba wa‑aba | And We showed Pharaoh all Our Signs, but he did reject and
refuse.
Sura Ṭā Hā 20:56 وَلَقَدْ أَرَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ wa-la-qad araynāhu āyātinā kullahā fa-kadhdhaba wa-aba And We showed Pharaoh all Our Signs, but he did reject and refuse. |
(20:116) | وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ | wa‑idh qulnā lil‑malāʾikati isjudū li‑ādama fa‑sajadū illā iblīsa aba | When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam",
they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused.
Sura Ṭā Hā 20:116 وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ wa-idh qulnā lil-malāʾikati isjudū li-ādama fa-sajadū illā iblīsa aba When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam", they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused. |
(25:50) | وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَٰهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا | wa‑la‑qad ṣarrafnāhu baynahum li‑yadhdhakkarū fa‑abā aktharu l‑nāsi illā kufūran | And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order
that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught)
but (rank) ingratitude.
Sura al-Furqān 25:50 وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَٰهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا wa-la-qad ṣarrafnāhu baynahum li-yadhdhakkarū fa-abā aktharu l-nāsi illā kufūran And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught) but (rank) ingratitude. |
