Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(2:118)

Say those without knowledge: "Why speaketh not Allah unto us? or why cometh not unto us a Sign?" So said the people before them words of similar import. Their hearts are alike. We have indeed made clear the Signs unto any people who hold firmly to Faith (in their hearts).
(2:260)

وَإِذْ  قَالَ  إِبْرَٰهِـۧمُ  رَبِّ  أَرِنِى  كَيْفَ  تُحْىِ  ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ  قَالَ  أَوَلَمْ  تُؤْمِن  قَالَ  بَلَىٰ  وَلَٰكِن  لِّيَطْمَئِنَّ  قَلْبِى  قَالَ  فَخُذْ  أَرْبَعَةً  مِّنَ  ٱلطَّيْرِ  فَصُرْهُنَّ  إِلَيْكَ  ثُمَّ  ٱجْعَلْ  عَلَىٰ  كُلِّ  جَبَلٍ  مِّنْهُنَّ  جُزْءًا  ثُمَّ  ٱدْعُهُنَّ  يَأْتِينَكَ  سَعْيًا  وَٱعْلَمْ  أَنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  عَزِيزٌ  حَكِيمٌ wa‑idh qalā ibrāhīmu rabbi arinī kayfa tuḥyi l‑mawtā qalā a‑wa‑lam tuʾmin qalā balā wa‑lākin li‑yaṭmaʾinna qalbī qalā fa‑khudh arbaʿatan mina l‑ṭayri fa‑ṣurhunna ilayka thumma ajʿal ʿalā kulli jabalin minhunna juzʾan thumma udʿuhunna yaʾtīnaka saʿyan wa‑aʿlam annā allāha ʿazīzun ḥakīmun
When Abraham said: "Show me, Lord, how You will raise the dead, " He replied: "Have you no faith?" He said "Yes, but just to reassure my heart." Allah said, "Take four birds, draw them to you, and cut their bodies to pieces. Scatter them over the mountain-tops, then call them back. They will come swiftly to you. Know that Allah is Mighty, Wise."
(2:265)

وَمَثَلُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يُنفِقُونَ  أَمْوَٰلَهُمُ  ٱبْتِغَآءَ  مَرْضَاتِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَتَثْبِيتًا  مِّنْ  أَنفُسِهِمْ  كَمَثَلِ  جَنَّةٍۭ  بِرَبْوَةٍ  أَصَابَهَا  وَابِلٌ  فَـَٔاتَتْ  أُكُلَهَا  ضِعْفَيْنِ  فَإِن  لَّمْ  يُصِبْهَا  وَابِلٌ  فَطَلٌّ  وَٱللَّـهُ  بِمَا  تَعْمَلُونَ  بَصِيرٌ wa‑mathalu lladhīna yunfiqūna amwālahumu ibtighāʾa marḍāti allāhi wa‑tathbītan min anfusihim ka‑mathali jannatin bi‑rabwatin aṣābahā wābilun fa‑ātat ukulahā ḍiʿfayni fa‑in lam yuṣibhā wābilun fa‑ṭallun wallāhu bi‑mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun
And the likeness of those who spend their substance, seeking to please Allah and to strengthen their souls, is as a garden, high and fertile: heavy rain falls on it but makes it yield a double increase of harvest, and if it receives not Heavy rain, light moisture sufficeth it. Allah seeth well whatever ye do.

Surah 4 al-Nisāʾ (The Women)
(4:15)

وَٱلَّٰتِى  يَأْتِينَ  ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ  مِن  نِّسَآئِكُمْ  فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟  عَلَيْهِنَّ  أَرْبَعَةً  مِّنكُمْ  فَإِن  شَهِدُوا۟  فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ  فِى  ٱلْبُيُوتِ  حَتَّىٰ  يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ  ٱلْمَوْتُ  أَوْ  يَجْعَلَ  ٱللَّـهُ  لَهُنَّ  سَبِيلًا wa‑allātī yaʾtīna l‑fāḥishata min nasāʾikum fa‑istashhidū ʿalayhinna arbaʿatan minkum fa‑in shahidū fa‑amsikūhunna l‑buyūti ḥattā yatawaffahunna l‑mawtu aw yajʿala allāhu la‑hunna sabīlan
If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way.
(4:19)

O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.
(4:25)

If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

When thou (O Messenger) art with them, and standest to lead them in prayer, Let one party of them stand up (in prayer) with thee, Taking their arms with them: When they finish their prostrations, let them Take their position in the rear. And let the other party come up which hath not yet prayed - and let them pray with thee, Taking all precaution, and bearing arms: the Unbelievers wish, if ye were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to assault you in a single rush. But there is no blame on you if ye put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because ye are ill; but take (every) precaution for yourselves. For the Unbelievers Allah hath prepared a humiliating punishment.

Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)
(6:4)

But never did a single one of the signs of their Lord reach them, but they turned away therefrom.
(6:40)

Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting."

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:163)

وَسْـَٔلْهُمْ  عَنِ  ٱلْقَرْيَةِ  ٱلَّتِى  كَانَتْ  حَاضِرَةَ  ٱلْبَحْرِ  إِذْ  يَعْدُونَ  فِى  ٱلسَّبْتِ  إِذْ  تَأْتِيهِمْ  حِيتَانُهُمْ  يَوْمَ  سَبْتِهِمْ  شُرَّعًا  وَيَوْمَ  لَا  يَسْبِتُونَ  لَا  تَأْتِيهِمْ  كَذَٰلِكَ  نَبْلُوهُم  بِمَا  كَانُوا۟  يَفْسُقُونَ wa‑sʾalhum ʿani l‑qaryati allatī kānat ḥāḍirata l‑baḥri idh yaʿdūna l‑sabti idh taʾtīhim ḥītānuhum yawma sabtihim shurraʿan wa‑yawma yasbitūna taʾtīhim ka‑dhālika nablūhum bi‑mā kānū yafsuqūna
Ask them concerning the town standing close by the sea. Behold! they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath. For on the day of their Sabbath their fish did come to them, openly holding up their heads, but on the day they had no Sabbath, they came not: thus did We make a trial of them, for they were given to transgression.
(7:187)

They ask thee about the (final) Hour - when will be its appointed time? Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): None but He can reveal as to when it will occur. Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth. Only, all of a sudden will it come to you." They ask thee as if thou Wert eager in search thereof: Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone), but most men know not."

Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance)
(9:70)

Hath not the story reached them of those before them?- the People of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud; the People of Abraham, the men of Midian, and the cities overthrown. To them came their messengers with clear signs. It is not Allah Who wrongs them, but they wrong their own souls.

Surah 12 Yūsuf (Joseph)
(12:31)

فَلَمَّا  سَمِعَتْ  بِمَكْرِهِنَّ  أَرْسَلَتْ  إِلَيْهِنَّ  وَأَعْتَدَتْ  لَهُنَّ  مُتَّكَـًٔا  وَءَاتَتْ  كُلَّ  وَٰحِدَةٍ  مِّنْهُنَّ  سِكِّينًا  وَقَالَتِ  ٱخْرُجْ  عَلَيْهِنَّ  فَلَمَّا  رَأَيْنَهُۥٓ  أَكْبَرْنَهُۥ  وَقَطَّعْنَ  أَيْدِيَهُنَّ  وَقُلْنَ  حَٰشَ  لِلَّـهِ  مَا  هَٰذَا  بَشَرًا  إِنْ  هَٰذَآ  إِلَّا  مَلَكٌ  كَرِيمٌ fa‑lammā samiʿat bimakrihinna arsalat ilayhinna wa‑aʿtadat la‑hunna muttakaʾan wa‑ātat kulla wāḥidatin minhunna sikkīnan wa‑qālati ikhruj ʿalayhinna fa‑lammā raaynahu akbarnahu wa‑qaṭṭaʿna aydiyahunna wa‑qulna ḥāsha lillāhi hādhā basharan in hādhā illā malakun karīmun
When she heard of their malicious talk, she sent for them and prepared a banquet for them: she gave each of them a knife: and she said (to Joseph), "Come out before them." When they saw him, they did extol him, and (in their amazement) cut their hands: they said, "Allah preserve us! no mortal is this! this is none other than a noble angel!"
(12:107)

أَفَأَمِنُوٓا۟  أَن  تَأْتِيَهُمْ  غَٰشِيَةٌ  مِّنْ  عَذَابِ  ٱللَّـهِ  أَوْ  تَأْتِيَهُمُ  ٱلسَّاعَةُ  بَغْتَةً  وَهُمْ  لَا  يَشْعُرُونَ a‑fa‑aminū an taʾtiyahum ghāshiyatun min ʿadhābi allāhi aw taʾtiyahumu l‑sāʿatu baghtatan wa‑hum yashʿurūna
Do they then feel secure from the coming against them of the covering veil of the wrath of Allah,- or of the coming against them of the (final) Hour all of a sudden while they perceive not?

Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham)
(14:25)

It brings forth its fruit at all times, by the leave of its Lord. So Allah sets forth parables for men, in order that they may receive admonition.

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:33)

هَلْ  يَنظُرُونَ  إِلَّآ  أَن  تَأْتِيَهُمُ  ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ  أَوْ  يَأْتِىَ  أَمْرُ  رَبِّكَ  كَذَٰلِكَ  فَعَلَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  مِن  قَبْلِهِمْ  وَمَا  ظَلَمَهُمُ  ٱللَّـهُ  وَلَٰكِن  كَانُوٓا۟  أَنفُسَهُمْ  يَظْلِمُونَ hal yanẓurūna illā an taʾtiyahumu l‑malāʾikatu aw yaʾtiya amru rabbika ka‑dhālika faʿala lladhīna min qablihim wa‑mā ẓalamahumu allāhu wa‑lākin kānū anfusahum yaẓlimūna
Do the (ungodly) wait until the angels come to them, or there comes the Command of thy Lord (for their doom)? So did those who went before them. But Allah wronged them not: nay, they wronged their own souls.
(16:111)

One Day every soul will come up struggling for itself, and every soul will be recompensed (fully) for all its actions, and none will be unjustly dealt with.

Surah 18 al-Kahf (The Cave)
(18:33)

كِلْتَا  ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ  ءَاتَتْ  أُكُلَهَا  وَلَمْ  تَظْلِم  مِّنْهُ  شَيْـًٔا  وَفَجَّرْنَا  خِلَٰلَهُمَا  نَهَرًا kiltā l‑jannatayni ātat ukulahā wa‑lam taẓlim minhu shayʾan wa‑fajjarnā khilālahumā naharan
Each of those gardens brought forth its produce, and failed not in the least therein: in the midst of them We caused a river to flow.
(18:55)

And what is there to keep back men from believing, now that Guidance has come to them, nor from praying for forgiveness from their Lord, but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with them, or the Wrath be brought to them face to face?

Surah 19 Maryam (Mary)
(19:27)

فَأَتَتْ  بِهِۦ  قَوْمَهَا  تَحْمِلُهُۥ  قَالُوا۟  يَٰمَرْيَمُ  لَقَدْ  جِئْتِ  شَيْـًٔا  فَرِيًّا fa‑atat bihi qawmahā taḥmiluhu qālū yā‑maryamu la‑qad jiʾti shayʾan fariyyan

(Allah) will say: "Thus didst Thou, when Our Signs came unto thee, disregard them: so wilt thou, this day, be disregarded."
(20:133)

وَقَالُوا۟  لَوْلَا  يَأْتِينَا  بِـَٔايَةٍ  مِّن  رَّبِّهِۦٓ  أَوَلَمْ  تَأْتِهِم  بَيِّنَةُ  مَا  فِى  ٱلصُّحُفِ  ٱلْأُولَىٰ wa‑qālū lawlā yaʾtīnā bi‑āyatin min rrabbihi a‑wa‑lam taʾtihim bayyinatu l‑ṣuḥufi l‑ūlā

Surah 21 al-Anbiyāʾ (The Prophets)

Nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite.

Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage)
(22:27)

Those who reject Faith will not cease to be in doubt concerning (Revelation) until the Hour (of Judgment) comes suddenly upon them, or there comes to them the Penalty of a Day of Disaster.

Surah 27 al-Naml (The Ant)
(27:23)

إِنِّى  وَجَدتُّ  ٱمْرَأَةً  تَمْلِكُهُمْ  وَأُوتِيَتْ  مِن  كُلِّ  شَىْءٍ  وَلَهَا  عَرْشٌ  عَظِيمٌ innī wajadttu imraʾatan tamlikuhum wa‑ūtiyat min kulli shayʾin wa‑lahā ʿarshun ʿaẓīmun

And stay quietly in your houses, and make not a dazzling display, like that of the former Times of Ignorance; and establish regular Prayer, and give regular Charity; and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah only wishes to remove all abomination from you, ye members of the Family, and to make you pure and spotless.

Surah 34 Sabaʾ (Sheba)
(34:3)

The Unbelievers say, "Never to us will come the Hour": Say, "Nay! but most surely, by my Lord, it will come upon you;- by Him Who knows the unseen,- from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in the heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or greater, but is in the Record Perspicuous:

Surah 36 Yā Sin (Ya Sin)
(36:46)

Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom.

Surah 40 al-Ghāfir (The Forgiving One)
(40:22)

That was because there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs), but they rejected them: So Allah called them to account: for He is Full of Strength, Strict in Punishment.
(40:50)

قَالُوٓا۟  أَوَلَمْ  تَكُ  تَأْتِيكُمْ  رُسُلُكُم  بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ  قَالُوا۟  بَلَىٰ  قَالُوا۟  فَٱدْعُوا۟  وَمَا  دُعَٰٓؤُا۟  ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ  إِلَّا  فِى  ضَلَٰلٍ qālū a‑wa‑lam taku taʾtīkum rusulukum bil‑bayyināti qālū balā qālū fa‑idʿu wa‑mā duʿāʾu l‑kāfirīna illā ḍalālin
They will say: "Did there not come to you your messengers with Clear Signs?" They will say, "Yes". They will reply, "Then pray (as ye like)! But the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile wandering) in (mazes of) error!"

Surah 43 al-Zukhruf (The Embellishment)
(43:66)

هَلْ  يَنظُرُونَ  إِلَّا  ٱلسَّاعَةَ  أَن  تَأْتِيَهُم  بَغْتَةً  وَهُمْ  لَا  يَشْعُرُونَ hal yanẓurūna illā l‑sāʿata an taʾtiyahum baghtatan wa‑hum yashʿurūna
Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not?

Surah 44 al-Dukhān (The Evident Smoke)
(44:10)

Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible,

Surah 47 Muḥammad (Muhammad)
(47:18)

فَهَلْ  يَنظُرُونَ  إِلَّا  ٱلسَّاعَةَ  أَن  تَأْتِيَهُم  بَغْتَةً  فَقَدْ  جَآءَ  أَشْرَاطُهَا  فَأَنَّىٰ  لَهُمْ  إِذَا  جَآءَتْهُمْ  ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ fa‑hal yanẓurūna illā l‑sāʿata an taʾtiyahum baghtatan fa‑qad jāa ashrāṭuhā fa‑annā lahum idhā jāʾathum dhikrāhum
Do they then only wait for the Hour,- that it should come on them of a sudden? But already have come some tokens thereof, and when it (actually) is on them, how can they benefit then by their admonition?

Surah 51 al-Dhāriyāt (The Scatterers)
(51:42)

مَا  تَذَرُ  مِن  شَىْءٍ  أَتَتْ  عَلَيْهِ  إِلَّا  جَعَلَتْهُ  كَٱلرَّمِيمِ tadharu min shayʾin atat ʿalayhi illā jaʿalathu ka‑l‑ramīmi
It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness.

Surah 60 al-Mumtaḥanah (She Who is Tested)
(60:12)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلنَّبِىُّ  إِذَا  جَآءَكَ  ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ  يُبَايِعْنَكَ  عَلَىٰٓ  أَن  لَّا  يُشْرِكْنَ  بِٱللَّـهِ  شَيْـًٔا  وَلَا  يَسْرِقْنَ  وَلَا  يَزْنِينَ  وَلَا  يَقْتُلْنَ  أَوْلَٰدَهُنَّ  وَلَا  يَأْتِينَ  بِبُهْتَٰنٍ  يَفْتَرِينَهُۥ  بَيْنَ  أَيْدِيهِنَّ  وَأَرْجُلِهِنَّ  وَلَا  يَعْصِينَكَ  فِى  مَعْرُوفٍ  فَبَايِعْهُنَّ  وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ  لَهُنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  غَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ yā‑ayyuhā l‑nabiyyu idhā jāʾaka l‑muʾminātu yubāyiʿnaka ʿala an yushrikna billāhi shayʾan wa‑lā yasriqna wa‑lā yaznīna wa‑lā yaqtulna awlādahunna wa‑lā yaʾtīna bi‑buhtānin yaftarīnahu bayna aydīhinna wa‑arjulihinna wa‑lā yaʿṣīnaka maʿrūfin fa‑bāyiʿhunna wa‑istaghfir la‑hunna allāha inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun
O Prophet! When believing women come to thee to take the oath of fealty to thee, that they will not associate in worship any other thing whatever with Allah, that they will not steal, that they will not commit adultery (or fornication), that they will not kill their children, that they will not utter slander, intentionally forging falsehood, and that they will not disobey thee in any just matter,- then do thou receive their fealty, and pray to Allah for the forgiveness (of their sins): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah 64 al-Taghābun (The Cheating)
(64:6)

That was because there came to them messengers with Clear Signs, but they said: "Shall (mere) human beings direct us?" So they rejected (the Message) and turned away. But Allah can do without (them): and Allah is free of all needs, worthy of all praise.

Surah 65 al-Ṭalāq (The Divorce)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلنَّبِىُّ  إِذَا  طَلَّقْتُمُ  ٱلنِّسَآءَ  فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ  لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ  وَأَحْصُوا۟  ٱلْعِدَّةَ  وَٱتَّقُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  رَبَّكُمْ  لَا  تُخْرِجُوهُنَّ  مِنۢ  بُيُوتِهِنَّ  وَلَا  يَخْرُجْنَ  إِلَّآ  أَن  يَأْتِينَ  بِفَٰحِشَةٍ  مُّبَيِّنَةٍ  وَتِلْكَ  حُدُودُ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَمَن  يَتَعَدَّ  حُدُودَ  ٱللَّـهِ  فَقَدْ  ظَلَمَ  نَفْسَهُۥ  لَا  تَدْرِى  لَعَلَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  يُحْدِثُ  بَعْدَ  ذَٰلِكَ  أَمْرًا yā‑ayyuhā l‑nabiyyu idhā ṭallaqtumu l‑nisāʾa fa‑ṭalliqūhunna li‑ʿiddatihinna wa‑aḥṣū l‑ʿiddata wa‑ittaqū allāha rabbakum tukhrijūhunna min buyūtihinna wa‑lā yakhrujna illā an yaʾtīna bi‑fāḥishatin mubayyinatin wa‑tilka ḥudūdu allāhi wa‑man yataʿadda ḥudūda allāhi fa‑qad ẓalama nafsahu tadrī laʿalla allāha yuḥdithu baʿda dhālika amran
O Prophet! When ye do divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods, and count (accurately), their prescribed periods: And fear Allah your Lord: and turn them not out of their houses, nor shall they (themselves) leave, except in case they are guilty of some open lewdness, those are limits set by Allah: and any who transgresses the limits of Allah, does verily wrong his (own) soul: thou knowest not if perchance Allah will bring about thereafter some new situation.

Surah 69 al-Ḥāqqah (The Inevitable)

Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence,-
