Sura al-Baqara 2:51

وَإِذْ وَٰعَدْنَا مُوسَىٰٓ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذْتُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَنتُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَ

wa-idh wāʿadnā mūsā arbaʿīna laylatan thumma ittakhadhtumu l-ʿijla min baʿdihi wa-antum ẓālimūna

And remember We appointed forty nights for Moses, and in his absence ye took the calf (for worship), and ye did grievous wrong.

Sura al-Baqara 2:63

وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ ٱلطُّورَ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

wa-idh akhadhnā mīthāqakum wa-rafaʿnā fawqakumu l-ṭūra khudhū mā ātaynākum bi-quwwātin wa-idhkurū mā fīhi la-ʿallakum tattaqūna

And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you (The towering height) of Mount (Sinai) : (Saying): "Hold firmly to what We have given you and bring (ever) to remembrance what is therein: Perchance ye may fear Allah."

Sura al-Baqara 2:67

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا۟ بَقَرَةً قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّـهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

wa-idh qalā mūsā li-qawmihi inna allāha yaʾmurukum an tadhbaḥū baqaratan qālū atattakhidhunā huzuwan qalā aʿūdhu billāhi an akūna mina l-jāhilīna

And remember Moses said to his people: "Allah commands that ye sacrifice a heifer." They said: "Makest thou a laughing-stock of us?" He said: "Allah save me from being an ignorant (fool)!"

Sura al-Baqara 2:80

وَقَالُوا۟ لَن تَمَسَّنَا ٱلنَّارُ إِلَّآ أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَةً قُلْ أَتَّخَذْتُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ عَهْدًا فَلَن يُخْلِفَ ٱللَّـهُ عَهْدَهُۥٓ أَمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

wa-qālū lan tamassanā l-nāru illā ayyāman maʿdūdatan qul ittakhadhtum ʿinda allāhi ʿahdan fa-lan yukhlifa allāhu ʿahdahu am taqūlūna ʿalā allāhi mā lā taʿlamūna

And they say: "The Fire shall not touch us but for a few numbered days:" Say: "Have ye taken a promise from Allah, for He never breaks His promise? or is it that ye say of Allah what ye do not know?"

Sura al-Baqara 2:92

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكُم مُّوسَىٰ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذْتُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَنتُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَ

wa-la-qad jāʾakum mūsā bil-bayyināti thumma ittakhadhtumu l-ʿijla min baʿdihi wa-antum ẓālimūna

There came to you Moses with clear (Signs); yet ye worshipped the calf (Even) after that, and ye did behave wrongfully.

Sura al-Baqara 2:93

وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ ٱلطُّورَ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَأُشْرِبُوا۟ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ بِكُفْرِهِمْ قُلْ بِئْسَمَا يَأْمُرُكُم بِهِۦٓ إِيمَٰنُكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

wa-idh akhadhnā mīthāqakum wa-rafaʿnā fawqakumu l-ṭūra khudhū mā ātaynākum bi-quwwātin wa-ismaʿū qālū samiʿnā wa-ʿaṣaynā wa-ushribū fī qulūbihimu l-ʿijla bi-kufrihim qul biʾsamā yaʾmurukum bihi īmānukum in kuntum muʾminīna

And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you (the towering height) of Mount (Sinai): (Saying): "Hold firmly to what We have given you, and hearken (to the Law)": They said:" We hear, and we disobey:" And they had to drink into their hearts (of the taint) of the calf because of their Faithlessness. Say: "Vile indeed are the behests of your Faith if ye have any faith!"

Sura al-Baqara 2:125

وَإِذْ جَعَلْنَا ٱلْبَيْتَ مَثَابَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَأَمْنًا وَٱتَّخِذُوا۟ مِن مَّقَامِ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ مُصَلًّى وَعَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ أَن طَهِّرَا بَيْتِىَ لِلطَّآئِفِينَ وَٱلْعَٰكِفِينَ وَٱلرُّكَّعِ ٱلسُّجُودِ

wa-idh jaʿalnā l-bayta mathābatan lil-nāsi wa-amnan wa-ittakhidhū min maqāmi ibrāhīma muṣallan wa-ʿahidnā ila ibrāhīma wa-ismāʿīla an ṭahhirā baytiya lil-ṭāʾifīna wa-l-ʿākifīna wa-l-rukkaʿi l-sujūdi

Remember We made the House a place of assembly for men and a place of safety; and take ye the station of Abraham as a place of prayer; and We covenanted with Abraham and Isma'il, that they should sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or use it as a retreat, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer).

Sura al-Baqara 2:229

ٱلطَّلَٰقُ مَرَّتَانِ فَإِمْسَاكٌۢ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تَسْرِيحٌۢ بِإِحْسَٰنٍ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ أَن تَأْخُذُوا۟ مِمَّآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّآ أَن يَخَافَآ أَلَّا يُقِيمَا حُدُودَ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا يُقِيمَا حُدُودَ ٱللَّـهِ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَا فِيمَا ٱفْتَدَتْ بِهِۦ تِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّـهِ فَلَا تَعْتَدُوهَا وَمَن يَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَ ٱللَّـهِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ

l-ṭalāqu marratāni faimsākun bi-maʿrūfin aw tasrīḥun bi-iḥsānin wa-lā yaḥillu la-kum an takhudhū mimmā ātaytumūhunna shayʾan illā an yakhāfā allā yuqīmā ḥudūda allāhi fa-in khiftum allā yuqīmā ḥudūda allāhi fa-lā junāḥa ʿalayhimā fī-mā aftadat bihi tilka ḥudūdu allāhi fa-lā taʿtadūhā wa-man yataʿadda ḥudūda allāhi fa-ūlāʾika humu l-ẓālimūna

A divorce is only permissible twice: after that, the parties should either hold Together on equitable terms, or separate with kindness. It is not lawful for you, (Men), to take back any of your gifts (from your wives), except when both parties fear that they would be unable to keep the limits ordained by Allah. If ye (judges) do indeed fear that they would be unable to keep the limits ordained by Allah, there is no blame on either of them if she give something for her freedom. These are the limits ordained by Allah; so do not transgress them if any do transgress the limits ordained by Allah, such persons wrong (Themselves as well as others).

Sura al-Baqara 2:231

وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ سَرِّحُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوهُنَّ ضِرَارًا لِّتَعْتَدُوا۟ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُۥ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ هُزُوًا وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّـهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَٱلْحِكْمَةِ يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

wa-idhā ṭallaqtumu l-nisāʾa fa-balaghna ajalahunna fa-amsikūhunna bi-maʿrūfin aw sarriḥūhunna bi-maʿrūfin wa-lā tumsikūhunna ḍirāran la-taʿtadū wa-man yafʿal dhālika fa-qad ẓalama nafsahu wa-lā tattakhidhū āyāti allāhi huzuwan wa-idhkurū niʿmata allāhi ʿalaykum wa-mā anzala ʿalaykum mina l-kitābi wa-l-ḥikmati yaʿiẓukum bihi wa-ittaqū allāha wa-iʿlamū annā allāha bi-kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun

When ye divorce women, and they fulfil the term of their ('Iddat), either take them back on equitable terms or set them free on equitable terms; but do not take them back to injure them, (or) to take undue advantage; if any one does that; He wrongs his own soul. Do not treat Allah's Signs as a jest, but solemnly rehearse Allah's favours on you, and the fact that He sent down to you the Book and Wisdom, for your instruction. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is well acquainted with all things.

Sura al-Baqara 2:260

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمُ رَبِّ أَرِنِى كَيْفَ تُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ قَالَ أَوَلَمْ تُؤْمِن قَالَ بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِن لِّيَطْمَئِنَّ قَلْبِى قَالَ فَخُذْ أَرْبَعَةً مِّنَ ٱلطَّيْرِ فَصُرْهُنَّ إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ ٱجْعَلْ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ جَبَلٍ مِّنْهُنَّ جُزْءًا ثُمَّ ٱدْعُهُنَّ يَأْتِينَكَ سَعْيًا وَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

wa-idh qalā ibrāhīmu rabbi arinī kayfa tuḥyi l-mawtā qalā a-wa-lam tuʾmin qalā balā wa-lākin li-yaṭmaʾinna qalbī qalā fa-khudh arbaʿatan mina l-ṭayri fa-ṣurhunna ilayka thumma ajʿal ʿalā kulli jabalin minhunna juzʾan thumma udʿuhunna yaʾtīnaka saʿyan wa-aʿlam annā allāha ʿazīzun ḥakīmun

When Abraham said: "Show me, Lord, how You will raise the dead, " He replied: "Have you no faith?" He said "Yes, but just to reassure my heart." Allah said, "Take four birds, draw them to you, and cut their bodies to pieces. Scatter them over the mountain-tops, then call them back. They will come swiftly to you. Know that Allah is Mighty, Wise."

Sura al-Baqara 2:286

لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّـهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا ٱكْتَسَبَتْ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَآ إِن نَّسِينَآ أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَآ إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِۦ وَٱعْفُ عَنَّا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَآ أَنتَ مَوْلَىٰنَا فَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

lā yukallifu allāhu nafsan illā wusʿahā lahā mā kasabat wa-ʿalayhā mā aktasabat rabbanā lā tuʾākhidhnā in nasīnā aw akhṭanā rabbanā wa-lā taḥmil ʿalaynā iṣran ka-mā ḥamaltahu ʿalā lladhīna min qablinā rabbanā wa-lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata la-nā bihi wa-aʿfu ʿannā wa-aghfir la-nā wa-arḥamnā anta mawlanā fa-anṣurnā ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīna

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:80

وَلَا يَأْمُرَكُمْ أَن تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ وَٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ أَرْبَابًا أَيَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ

wa-lā yamurakum an tattakhidhū l-malāikata wa-l-nabīyina arbāban ayamurukum bil-kufri baʿda idh antum muslimūna

Nor would he instruct you to take angels and prophets for Lords and patrons. What! would he bid you to unbelief after ye have bowed your will (To Allah in Islam)?

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:81

وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّـهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيْتُكُم مِّن كِتَٰبٍ وَحِكْمَةٍ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ قَالَ ءَأَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَخَذْتُمْ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمْ إِصْرِى قَالُوٓا۟ أَقْرَرْنَا قَالَ فَٱشْهَدُوا۟ وَأَنَا۠ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

wa-idh akhadha allāhu mīthāqa l-nabiyyina la-mā ātaytukum min kitābin wa-ḥikmatin thumma jāʾakum rasūlun muṣaddiqun li-mā maʿakum la-tuʾminunna bihi wa-la-tanṣurunnahu qalā a-aqrartum wa-akhadhtum ʿalā dhālikum iṣrī qālū aqrarnā qalā fa-ishhadū wa-anā maʿakum mina l-shāhidīna

Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:118

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ بِطَانَةً مِّن دُونِكُمْ لَا يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالًا وَدُّوا۟ مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ ٱلْبَغْضَآءُ مِنْ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِى صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū biṭānatan min dūnikum lā yalūnakum khabālan waddū mā ʿanittum qad badati l-baghḍāʾu min afwāhihim wa-mā tukhfī ṣudūruhum akbaru qad bayyannā lakumu l-ayāti in kuntum taʿqilūna

O ye who believe! Take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks: They will not fail to corrupt you. They only desire your ruin: Rank hatred has already appeared from their mouths: What their hearts conceal is far worse. We have made plain to you the Signs, if ye have wisdom.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:20

وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمُ ٱسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍ وَءَاتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَىٰهُنَّ قِنطَارًا فَلَا تَأْخُذُوا۟ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا أَتَأْخُذُونَهُۥ بُهْتَٰنًا وَإِثْمًا مُّبِينًا

wa-in aradttumu istibdāla zawjin makāna zawjin wa-ātaytum iḥdahunna qinṭāran fa-lā takhudhū minhu shayʾan a-taʾkhudhūnahu buhtānan wa-ithman mubīnan

But if ye decide to take one wife in place of another, even if ye had given the latter a whole treasure for dower, Take not the least bit of it back: Would ye take it by slander and manifest wrong?

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:21

وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُۥ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًا

wa-kayfa taʾkhudhūnahu wa-qad afḍa baʿḍukum ilā baʿḍin wa-akhadhna minkum mīthāqan ghalīẓan

And how could ye take it when ye have gone in unto each other, and they have Taken from you a solemn covenant?

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:71

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ خُذُوا۟ حِذْرَكُمْ فَٱنفِرُوا۟ ثُبَاتٍ أَوِ ٱنفِرُوا۟ جَمِيعًا

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū khudhū ḥidhrakum fa-anfirū thubātin awi infirū jamīʿan

O ye who believe! Take your precautions, and either go forth in parties or go forth all together.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:89

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

waddū law takfurūna ka-mā kafarū fa-takūnūna sawāʾan fa-lā tattakhidhū minhum awliyāʾa ḥattā yuhājirū fī sabīli allāhi fa-in tawallaw fa-khudhūhum wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu wa-jadttumūhum wa-lā tattakhidhū minhum waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;-

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:91

سَتَجِدُونَ ءَاخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ كُلَّ مَا رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ أُرْكِسُوا۟ فِيهَا فَإِن لَّمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا

sa-tajidūna ākharīna yurīdūna an yaʾmanūkum wa-yaʾmanū qawmahum kulla mā ruddū ilā l-fitnati urkisū fīhā fa-in lam yaʿtazilūkum wa-yulqū ilaykumu l-salama wa-yakuffū aydiyahum fa-khudhūhum wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu thaqiftumūhum wa-ūlāʾikum jaʿalnā la-kum ʿalayhim sulṭānan mubīnan

Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:102

وَإِذَا كُنتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَلْتَقُمْ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُم مَّعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوٓا۟ أَسْلِحَتَهُمْ فَإِذَا سَجَدُوا۟ فَلْيَكُونُوا۟ مِن وَرَآئِكُمْ وَلْتَأْتِ طَآئِفَةٌ أُخْرَىٰ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا۟ فَلْيُصَلُّوا۟ مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوا۟ حِذْرَهُمْ وَأَسْلِحَتَهُمْ وَدَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ أَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَأَمْتِعَتِكُمْ فَيَمِيلُونَ عَلَيْكُم مَّيْلَةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِن كَانَ بِكُمْ أَذًى مِّن مَّطَرٍ أَوْ كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَن تَضَعُوٓا۟ أَسْلِحَتَكُمْ وَخُذُوا۟ حِذْرَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا

wa-idhā kunta fīhim fa-aqamta lahumu l-ṣalāta faltaqum ṭāʾifatun minhum maʿaka wa-lyakhudhū asliḥatahum fa-idhā sajadū falyakūnū min warāikum wa-ltati ṭāʾifatun ukhrā lam yuṣallū fa-lyuṣallū maʿaka wa-lyakhudhū ḥidhrahum waasliḥatahum wadda lladhīna kafarū law taghfulūna ʿan asliḥatikum wa-amtiʿatikum fa-yamīlūna ʿalaykum maylatan wāḥidatan wa-lā junāḥa ʿalaykum in kāna bikum adhan min maṭarin aw kuntum marḍā an taḍaʿū asliḥatakum wa-khudhū ḥidhrakum inna allāha aʿadda lil-kāfirīna ʿadhāban muhīnan

When thou (O Messenger) art with them, and standest to lead them in prayer, Let one party of them stand up (in prayer) with thee, Taking their arms with them: When they finish their prostrations, let them Take their position in the rear. And let the other party come up which hath not yet prayed - and let them pray with thee, Taking all precaution, and bearing arms: the Unbelievers wish, if ye were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to assault you in a single rush. But there is no blame on you if ye put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because ye are ill; but take (every) precaution for yourselves. For the Unbelievers Allah hath prepared a humiliating punishment.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:144

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَجْعَلُوا۟ لِلَّـهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū l-kāfirīna awliyāʾa min dūni l-muʾminīna aturīdūna an tajʿalū lillāhi ʿalaykum sulṭānan mubīnan

O ye who believe! Take not for friends unbelievers rather than believers: Do ye wish to offer Allah an open proof against yourselves?

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:41

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ لَا يَحْزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْمِن قُلُوبُهُمْ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ سَمَّٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّٰعُونَ لِقَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِۦ يَقُولُونَ إِنْ أُوتِيتُمْ هَٰذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْتَوْهُ فَٱحْذَرُوا۟ وَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّـهُ فِتْنَتَهُۥ فَلَن تَمْلِكَ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ شَيْـًٔا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يُرِدِ ٱللَّـهُ أَن يُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمْ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا خِزْىٌ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

yā-ayyuhā l-rasūlu lā yaḥzunka lladhīna yusāriʿūna fī l-kufri mina lladhīna qālū āmannā bi-afwāhihim wa-lam tuʾmin qulūbuhum wa-mina lladhīna hādū sammāʿūna lil-kadhibi sammāʿūna li-qawmin ākharīna lam yaʾtūka yuḥarrifūna l-kalima min baʿdi mawāḍiʿihi yaqūlūna in ūtītum hādhā fakhudhūhu wa-in lam tutawhu faḥdharū wa-man yuridi allāhu fitnatahu fa-lan tamlika lahu mina allāhi shayʾan ulāʾika lladhīna lam yuridi allāhu an yuṭahhira qulūbahum lahum fī l-dunyā khizun wa-lahum fī l-akhirati ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmun

O Messenger! let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief: (whether it be) among those who say "We believe" with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews,- men who will listen to any lie,- will listen even to others who have never so much as come to thee. They change the words from their (right) times and places: they say, "If ye are given this, take it, but if not, beware!" If any one's trial is intended by Allah, thou hast no authority in the least for him against Allah. For such - it is not Allah's will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:51

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْيَهُودَ وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū l-yahūda wa-l-naṣāra awliyāʾa baʿḍuhum awliyāʾu baʿḍin wa-man yatawallahum minkum fa-innahu minhum inna allāha lā yahdī l-qawma l-ẓālimīna

O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:57

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū lladhīna ittakhadhū dīnakum huzuwan wa-laʿiban mina lladhīna ūtū l-kitāba min qablikum wa-l-kuffāra awliyāʾa wattaqū allāha in kuntum muʾminīna

O ye who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah, if ye have faith (indeed).

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:116

وَإِذْ قَالَ ٱللَّـهُ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ءَأَنتَ قُلْتَ لِلنَّاسِ ٱتَّخِذُونِى وَأُمِّىَ إِلَٰهَيْنِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ قَالَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ مَا يَكُونُ لِىٓ أَنْ أَقُولَ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِحَقٍّ إِن كُنتُ قُلْتُهُۥ فَقَدْ عَلِمْتَهُۥ تَعْلَمُ مَا فِى نَفْسِى وَلَآ أَعْلَمُ مَا فِى نَفْسِكَ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ عَلَّٰمُ ٱلْغُيُوبِ

wa-idh qalā allāhu yā-ʿīsā ibna maryama a-anta qulta lil-nāsi attakhidhūnī wa-ummiya ilāhayni min dūni allāhi qalā subḥānaka mā yakūnu lī an aqūla mā laysa lī biḥaqqin in kuntu qultuhu fa-qad ʿalimtahu taʿlamu mā fī nafsī wa-lā aʿlamu mā fī nafsika innaka anta ʿallāmu l-ghuyūbi

And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:74

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ ءَازَرَ أَتَتَّخِذُ أَصْنَامًا ءَالِهَةً إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰكَ وَقَوْمَكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ

wa-idh qalā ibrāhīmu li-abīhi āzara atattakhidhu aṣnāman ālihatan innī araka wa-qawmaka fī ḍalālin mubīnin

Lo! Abraham said to his father Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:31

يَٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ خُذُوا۟ زِينَتَكُمْ عِندَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَكُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ وَلَا تُسْرِفُوٓا۟ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ

yā-banī ādama khudhū zīnatakum ʿinda kulli masjidin wa-kulū wa-ishrabū wa-lā tusrifū innahu lā yuḥibbu l-musrifīna

O Children of Adam! wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: But waste not by excess, for Allah loveth not the wasters.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:74

وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِن سُهُولِهَا قُصُورًا وَتَنْحِتُونَ ٱلْجِبَالَ بُيُوتًا فَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ ءَالَآءَ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

wa-idhkurū idh jaʿalakum khulafāʾa min baʿdi ʿādin wa-bawwaʾakum fī l-arḍi tattakhidhūna min suhūlihā quṣūran wa-tanḥitūna l-jibāla buyūtan fa-udhkurū ālāʾa allāhi wa-lā taʿthaw fī l-arḍi mufsidīna

"And remember how He made you inheritors after the 'Ad people and gave you habitations in the land: ye build for yourselves palaces and castles in (open) plains, and care out homes in the mountains; so bring to remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah, and refrain from evil and mischief on the earth."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:144

قَالَ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّى ٱصْطَفَيْتُكَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ بِرِسَٰلَٰتِى وَبِكَلَٰمِى فَخُذْ مَآ ءَاتَيْتُكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

qalā yā-mūsā innī iṣṭafaytuka ʿalā l-nāsi bi-risālātī wa-bikalāmī fa-khudh mā ātaytuka wa-kun mina l-shākirīna

(Allah) said: "O Moses! I have chosen thee above (other) men, by the mission I (have given thee) and the words I (have spoken to thee): take then the (revelation) which I give thee, and be of those who give thanks."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:145

وَكَتَبْنَا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْأَلْوَاحِ مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مَّوْعِظَةً وَتَفْصِيلًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوا۟ بِأَحْسَنِهَا سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ دَارَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

wakatabnā lahu fī l-alwāḥi min kulli shayʾin mawʿiẓatan wa-tafṣīlan li-kulli shayʾin fa-khudhhā bi-quwwātin wa-ʾmur qawmaka yaʾkhudhu bi-aḥsanihā sa-ūrīkum dāra l-fāsiqīna

And We ordained laws for him in the tablets in all matters, both commanding and explaining all things, (and said): "Take and hold these with firmness, and enjoin thy people to hold fast by the best in the precepts: soon shall I show you the homes of the wicked,- (How they lie desolate)."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:171

وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا ٱلْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُۥ ظُلَّةٌ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُۥ وَاقِعٌۢ بِهِمْ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

wa-idh nataqnā l-jabala fawqahum ka-annahu ẓullatun waẓannū annahu wāqiʿun bihim khudhū mā ātaynākum bi-quwwātin wa-idhkurū mā fīhi la-ʿallakum tattaqūna

When We shook the Mount over them, as if it had been a canopy, and they thought it was going to fall on them (We said): "Hold firmly to what We have given you, and bring (ever) to remembrance what is therein; perchance ye may fear Allah."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:199

خُذِ ٱلْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

khudhi l-ʿafwa wa-ʾmur bil-ʿurfi wa-aʿriḍ ʿani l-jāhilīna

Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; But turn away from the ignorant.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:68

لَّوْلَا كِتَٰبٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَآ أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

lawlā kitābun mina allāhi sabaqa la-massakum fīmā akhadhtum ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmun

Had it not been for a previous ordainment from Allah, a severe penalty would have reached you for the (ransom) that ye took.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:5

فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُوا۟ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِن تَابُوا۟ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَخَلُّوا۟ سَبِيلَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

fa-idhā nsalakha l-ashhuru l-ḥurumu faqtulū l-mushrikīna ḥaythu wa-jadttumūhum wa-khudhūhum wa-aḥṣurūhum wa-aqʿudū lahum kulla marṣadin fa-in tābū wa-aqāmū l-ṣalāta wa-ātawu l-zakāta fakhallū sabīlahum inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:23

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنَكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ إِنِ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْكُفْرَ عَلَى ٱلْإِيمَٰنِ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū ābāʾakum waikhwānakum awliyāʾa ini istaḥabbū l-kufra ʿalā l-īmāni wa-man yatawallahum minkum fa-ūlāʾika humu l-ẓālimūna

O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:103

خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِم بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ صَلَوٰتَكَ سَكَنٌ لَّهُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

khudh min amwālihim ṣadaqatan tuṭahhiruhum wa-tuzakkīhim bihā wa-ṣalli ʿalayhim inna ṣalātaka sakanun lahum wallāhu samīʿun ʿalīmun

Of their goods, take alms, that so thou mightest purify and sanctify them; and pray on their behalf. Verily thy prayers are a source of security for them: And Allah is One Who heareth and knoweth.

Sura Hūd 11:92

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَهْطِىٓ أَعَزُّ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ وَرَآءَكُمْ ظِهْرِيًّا إِنَّ رَبِّى بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ

qalā yā-qawmi arahṭī aʿazzu ʿalaykum mina allāhi wa-ittakhadhtumūhu warāʾakum ẓihrīyan inna rabbī bi-mā taʿmalūna muḥīṭun

He said: "O my people! is then my family of more consideration with you than Allah? For ye cast Him away behind your backs (with contempt). But verily my Lord encompasseth on all sides all that ye do!

Sura Yūsuf 12:78

قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُۥٓ أَبًا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُۥٓ إِنَّا نَرَىٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

qālū yā-ayyuhā l-ʿazīzu inna lahu aban shaykhan kabīran fa-khudh aḥadanā makānahu innā naraka mina l-muḥsinīna

They said: "O exalted one! Behold! he has a father, aged and venerable, (who will grieve for him); so take one of us in his place; for we see that thou art (gracious) in doing good."

Sura al-Raʿd 13:16

قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ قُلِ ٱللَّـهُ قُلْ أَفَٱتَّخَذْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ نَفْعًا وَلَا ضَرًّا قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ أَمْ هَلْ تَسْتَوِى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتُ وَٱلنُّورُ أَمْ جَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّـهِ شُرَكَآءَ خَلَقُوا۟ كَخَلْقِهِۦ فَتَشَٰبَهَ ٱلْخَلْقُ عَلَيْهِمْ قُلِ ٱللَّـهُ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّٰرُ

qul man rrabbu l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi quli allāhu qul afattakhadhtum min dūnihi awliyāʾa lā yamlikūna li-anfusihim nafʿan wa-lā ḍarran qul hal yastawī l-aʿmā wa-l-baṣīru am hal tastawī l-ẓulumātu wa-l-nūru am jaʿalū lillāhi shurakāʾa khalaqū ka-khalqihi fa-tashābaha l-khalqu ʿalayhim quli allāhu khāliqu kulli shayʾin wa-huwa l-wāḥidu l-qahhāru

Say: "Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?" Say: "(It is) Allah." Say: "Do ye then take (for worship) protectors other than Him, such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?" Say: "Are the blind equal with those who see? Or the depths of darkness equal with light?" Or do they assign to Allah partners who have created (anything) as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say: "Allah is the Creator of all things: He is the One, the Supreme and Irresistible."

Sura al-Naḥl 16:51

وَقَالَ ٱللَّـهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ إِلَٰهَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ فَإِيَّٰىَ فَٱرْهَبُونِ

wa-qāla allāhu lā tattakhidhū ilāhayni ithnayni innamā huwa ilāhun wāḥidun fa-iyyāya fa-irhabūni

Allah has said: "Take not (for worship) two gods: for He is just One Allah: then fear Me (and Me alone)."

Sura al-Naḥl 16:67

وَمِن ثَمَرَٰتِ ٱلنَّخِيلِ وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرًا وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

wa-min thamarāti l-nakhīli wa-l-aʿnābi tattakhidhūna minhu sakaran wa-rizqan ḥasanan inna fī dhālika la-āyatan li-qawmin yaʿqilūna

And from the fruit of the date-palm and the vine, ye get out wholesome drink and food: behold, in this also is a sign for those who are wise.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:68

وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلنَّحْلِ أَنِ ٱتَّخِذِى مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا وَمِنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعْرِشُونَ

wa-awḥa rabbuka ilā l-naḥli ani attakhidhī mina l-jibāli buyūtan wa-mina l-shajari wa-mimmā yaʿrishūna

And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations;

Sura al-Naḥl 16:92

وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّتِى نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَٰثًا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِىَ أَرْبَىٰ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ إِنَّمَا يَبْلُوكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ بِهِۦ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ مَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ

wa-lā takūnū ka-llatī naqaḍat ghazlahā min baʿdi quwwatin ankāthan tattakhidhūna aymānakum dakhalan baynakum an takūna ummatun hiya arba min ummatin innamā yablūkumu allāhu bihi wa-layubayyinanna la-kum yawma l-qiyāmati mā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūna

And be not like a woman who breaks into untwisted strands the yarn which she has spun, after it has become strong. Nor take your oaths to practise deception between yourselves, lest one party should be more numerous than another: for Allah will test you by this; and on the Day of Judgment He will certainly make clear to you (the truth of) that wherein ye disagree.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:94

وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌۢ بَعْدَ ثُبُوتِهَا وَتَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِمَا صَدَدتُّمْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَكُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

wa-lā tattakhidhū aymānakum dakhalan baynakum fatazilla qadamun baʿda thubūtihā wa-tadhūqū l-sūa bi-mā ṣadadttum ʿan sabīli allāhi wa-lakum ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmun

And take not your oaths, to practise deception between yourselves, with the result that someone's foot may slip after it was firmly planted, and ye may have to taste the evil (consequences) of having hindered (men) from the Path of Allah, and a Mighty Wrath descend on you.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:2

وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ هُدًى لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَلَّا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِن دُونِى وَكِيلًا

wa-ātaynā mūsā l-kitāba wa-jaʿalnāhu hudan li-banī isrāʾīla allā tattakhidhū min dūnī wakīlan

We gave Moses the Book, and made it a Guide to the Children of Israel, (commanding): "Take not other than Me as Disposer of (your) affairs."

Sura al-Kahf 18:50

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِءَادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِۦٓ أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُۥ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِى وَهُمْ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۢ بِئْسَ لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ بَدَلًا

wa-idh qulnā lil-malāʾikati isjudū li-ādama fa-sajadū illā iblīsa kāna mina l-jinni fa-fasaqa ʿan amri rabbihi a-fa-tattakhidhūnahu wa-dhurriyyatahu awliyāʾa min dūnī wa-hum la-kum ʿadūwun biʾsa lil-ẓālimīna badalan

Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you! Evil would be the exchange for the wrong-doers!

Sura al-Kahf 18:73

قَالَ لَا تُؤَاخِذْنِى بِمَا نَسِيتُ وَلَا تُرْهِقْنِى مِنْ أَمْرِى عُسْرًا

qalā lā tuʾākhidhnī bi-mā nasītu wa-lā turhiqnī min amrī ʿusran

Moses said: "Rebuke me not for forgetting, nor grieve me by raising difficulties in my case."

Sura al-Kahf 18:77

فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَيَآ أَهْلَ قَرْيَةٍ ٱسْتَطْعَمَآ أَهْلَهَا فَأَبَوْا۟ أَن يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا فَوَجَدَا فِيهَا جِدَارًا يُرِيدُ أَن يَنقَضَّ فَأَقَامَهُۥ قَالَ لَوْ شِئْتَ لَتَّخَذْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا

fa-inṭalaqā ḥatta idhā atayā ahla qaryatin astaṭʿamā ahlahā faabaw an yuḍayyifūhumā fa-wajadā fīhā jidāran yurīdu an yanqaḍḍa faaqāmahu qalā law shiʾta lattakhadhta ʿalayhi ajran

Then they proceeded: until, when they came to the inhabitants of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused them hospitality. They found there a wall on the point of falling down, but he set it up straight. (Moses) said: "If thou hadst wished, surely thou couldst have exacted some recompense for it!"

Sura al-Kahf 18:86

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَغْرِبَ ٱلشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَغْرُبُ فِى عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍ وَوَجَدَ عِندَهَا قَوْمًا قُلْنَا يَٰذَا ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ إِمَّآ أَن تُعَذِّبَ وَإِمَّآ أَن تَتَّخِذَ فِيهِمْ حُسْنًا

ḥatta idhā balagha maghriba l-shamsi wajadahā taghrubu fī ʿaynin ḥamiʾatin wa-wajada ʿindahā qawman qulnā yādhā l-qarnayni immā an tuʿadhdhiba waimmā an tattakhidha fīhim ḥusnan

Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness."

Sura Maryam 19:12

يَٰيَحْيَىٰ خُذِ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِقُوَّةٍ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ ٱلْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا

yā-yaḥyā khudhi l-kitāba bi-quwwātin waātaynāhu l-ḥukma ṣabiyyan

(To his son came the command): "O Yahya! take hold of the Book with might": and We gave him Wisdom even as a youth,
