Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(7:44)

وَنَادَىٰٓ  أَصْحَٰبُ  ٱلْجَنَّةِ  أَصْحَٰبَ  ٱلنَّارِ  أَن  قَدْ  وَجَدْنَا  مَا  وَعَدَنَا  رَبُّنَا  حَقًّا  فَهَلْ  وَجَدتُّم  مَّا  وَعَدَ  رَبُّكُمْ  حَقًّا  قَالُوا۟  نَعَمْ  فَأَذَّنَ  مُؤَذِّنٌۢ  بَيْنَهُمْ  أَن  لَّعْنَةُ  ٱللَّـهِ  عَلَى  ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ wa‑nādā aṣḥābu l‑jannati aṣḥāba l‑nāri an qad wajadnā waʿadanā rabbunā ḥaqqan fa‑hal wajadttum waʿada rabbukum ḥaqqan qālū naʿam fa‑adhdhana muadhdhinun baynahum an llaʿnatu allāhi ʿalā l‑ẓālimīna
The Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire: "We have indeed found the promises of our Lord to us true: Have you also found Your Lord's promises true?" They shall say, "Yes"; but a crier shall proclaim between them: "The curse of Allah is on the wrong-doers;-
(7:123)

قَالَ  فِرْعَوْنُ  ءَامَنتُم  بِهِۦ  قَبْلَ  أَنْ  ءَاذَنَ  لَكُمْ  إِنَّ  هَٰذَا  لَمَكْرٌ  مَّكَرْتُمُوهُ  فِى  ٱلْمَدِينَةِ  لِتُخْرِجُوا۟  مِنْهَآ  أَهْلَهَا  فَسَوْفَ  تَعْلَمُونَ qalā firʿawun āmantum bihi qabla an ādhana la‑kum inna hādhā lamakrun makartumūhu l‑madīnati li‑tukhrijū minhā ahlahā fa‑sawfa taʿlamūna
Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences).
(7:167)

وَإِذْ  تَأَذَّنَ  رَبُّكَ  لَيَبْعَثَنَّ  عَلَيْهِمْ  إِلَىٰ  يَوْمِ  ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ  مَن  يَسُومُهُمْ  سُوٓءَ  ٱلْعَذَابِ  إِنَّ  رَبَّكَ  لَسَرِيعُ  ٱلْعِقَابِ  وَإِنَّهُۥ  لَغَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ wa‑idh taʾadhdhana rabbuka la‑yabʿathanna ʿalayhim ilā yawmi l‑qiyāmati man yasūmuhum suʾa l‑ʿadhābi inna rabbaka la‑sarīʿu l‑ʿiqābi wa‑innahu la‑ghafūrun raḥīmun
Behold! thy Lord did declare that He would send against them, to the Day of Judgment, those who would afflict them with grievous penalty. Thy Lord is quick in retribution, but He is also Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance)
(9:43)

Allah give thee grace! why didst thou grant them until those who told the truth were seen by thee in a clear light, and thou hadst proved the liars?
(9:44)

لَا  يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يُؤْمِنُونَ  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَٱلْيَوْمِ  ٱلْأَخِرِ  أَن  يُجَٰهِدُوا۟  بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ  وَأَنفُسِهِمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  عَلِيمٌۢ  بِٱلْمُتَّقِينَ yastaʾdhinuka lladhīna yuʾminūna billāhi wa‑l‑yawmi l‑akhiri an yujāhidū bi‑amwālihim wa‑anfusihim wallāhu ʿalīmun bil‑muttaqīna
Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day ask thee for no exemption from fighting with their goods and persons. And Allah knoweth well those who do their duty.
(9:45)

Only those ask thee for exemption who believe not in Allah and the Last Day, and whose hearts are in doubt, so that they are tossed in their doubts to and fro.
(9:49)

وَمِنْهُم  مَّن  يَقُولُ  ٱئْذَن  لِّى  وَلَا  تَفْتِنِّىٓ  أَلَا  فِى  ٱلْفِتْنَةِ  سَقَطُوا۟  وَإِنَّ  جَهَنَّمَ  لَمُحِيطَةٌۢ  بِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ wa‑minhum man yaqūlu adhan wa‑lā taftinnī āla l‑fitnati saqaṭū wa‑inna jahannama la‑muḥīṭatun bil‑kāfirīna
Among them is (many) a man who says: "Grant me exemption and draw me not into trial." Have they not fallen into trial already? and indeed Hell surrounds the Unbelievers (on all sides).
(9:86)

وَإِذَآ  أُنزِلَتْ  سُورَةٌ  أَنْ  ءَامِنُوا۟  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَجَٰهِدُوا۟  مَعَ  رَسُولِهِ  ٱسْتَـْٔذَنَكَ  أُو۟لُوا۟  ٱلطَّوْلِ  مِنْهُمْ  وَقَالُوا۟  ذَرْنَا  نَكُن  مَّعَ  ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ wa‑idhā unzilat sūratun an āminū billāhi wa‑jāhidū maʿa rasūlihi istaʾdhanaka ūlū l‑ṭawli minhum wa‑qālū dharnā nakun maʿa l‑qāʿidīna
When a Sura comes down, enjoining them to believe in Allah and to strive and fight along with His Messenger, those with wealth and influence among them ask thee for exemption, and say: "Leave us (behind): we would be with those who sit (at home)."
(9:90)

وَجَآءَ  ٱلْمُعَذِّرُونَ  مِنَ  ٱلْأَعْرَابِ  لِيُؤْذَنَ  لَهُمْ  وَقَعَدَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَذَبُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  وَرَسُولَهُۥ  سَيُصِيبُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  مِنْهُمْ  عَذَابٌ  أَلِيمٌ wa‑jāʾa l‑muʿadhdhirūna mina l‑aʿrābi li‑yuʾdhana lahum wa‑qaʿada lladhīna kadhabū allāha wa‑rasūlahu sa‑yuṣību lladhīna kafarū minhum ʿadhābun alīmun
And there were, among the desert Arabs (also), men who made excuses and came to claim exemption; and those who were false to Allah and His Messenger (merely) sat inactive. Soon will a grievous penalty seize the Unbelievers among them.

Surah 10 Yūnus (Jonah)
(10:59)

Say: "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah?"

Surah 12 Yūsuf (Joseph)
(12:70)

At length when he had furnished them forth with provisions (suitable) for them, he put the drinking cup into his brother's saddle-bag. Then shouted out a crier: "O ye (in) the caravan! behold! ye are thieves, without doubt!"
(12:80)

فَلَمَّا  ٱسْتَيْـَٔسُوا۟  مِنْهُ  خَلَصُوا۟  نَجِيًّا  قَالَ  كَبِيرُهُمْ  أَلَمْ  تَعْلَمُوٓا۟  أَنَّ  أَبَاكُمْ  قَدْ  أَخَذَ  عَلَيْكُم  مَّوْثِقًا  مِّنَ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَمِن  قَبْلُ  مَا  فَرَّطتُمْ  فِى  يُوسُفَ  فَلَنْ  أَبْرَحَ  ٱلْأَرْضَ  حَتَّىٰ  يَأْذَنَ  لِىٓ  أَبِىٓ  أَوْ  يَحْكُمَ  ٱللَّـهُ  لِى  وَهُوَ  خَيْرُ  ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ fa‑lammā istayʾasū minhu khalaṣū najiyyan qalā kabīruhum a‑lam taʿlamū annā abākum qad akhadha ʿalaykum mawthiqan mina allāhi wa‑min qablu farraṭtum yūsufa falan abraḥa l‑arḍa ḥattā yadhana abī aw yaḥkuma allāhu wa‑huwa khayru l‑ḥākimīna
Now when they saw no hope of his (yielding), they held a conference in private. The leader among them said: "Know ye not that your father did take an oath from you in Allah's name, and how, before this, ye did fail in your duty with Joseph? Therefore will I not leave this land until my father permits me, or Allah commands me; and He is the best to command.

Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham)
(14:7)

وَإِذْ  تَأَذَّنَ  رَبُّكُمْ  لَئِن  شَكَرْتُمْ  لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ  وَلَئِن  كَفَرْتُمْ  إِنَّ  عَذَابِى  لَشَدِيدٌ wa‑idh taʾadhdhana rabbukum lain shakartum la‑azīdannakum wa‑laʾin kafartum inna ʿadhābī la‑shadīdun
And remember! your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): "If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; But if ye show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed."

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:84)

One Day We shall raise from all Peoples a Witness: then will no excuse be accepted from Unbelievers, nor will they receive any favours.

Surah 20 Ṭā Hā (Ta-Ha)
(20:71)

قَالَ  ءَامَنتُمْ  لَهُۥ  قَبْلَ  أَنْ  ءَاذَنَ  لَكُمْ  إِنَّهُۥ  لَكَبِيرُكُمُ  ٱلَّذِى  عَلَّمَكُمُ  ٱلسِّحْرَ  فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ  أَيْدِيَكُمْ  وَأَرْجُلَكُم  مِّنْ  خِلَٰفٍ  وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ  فِى  جُذُوعِ  ٱلنَّخْلِ  وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ  أَيُّنَآ  أَشَدُّ  عَذَابًا  وَأَبْقَىٰ qalā āmantum lahu qabla an ādhana la‑kum innahu la‑kabīrukumu alladhī ʿallamakumu l‑siḥra fa‑la‑uqaṭṭiʿanna aydiyakum wa‑arjulakum min khilāfin wa‑la‑uṣallibannakum judhūʿi l‑nakhli wa‑la‑taʿlamunna ayyunā ashaddu ʿadhāban wa‑abqā
(Pharaoh) said: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this must be your leader, who has taught you magic! be sure I will cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will have you crucified on trunks of palm-trees: so shall ye know for certain, which of us can give the more severe and the more lasting punishment!"
(20:109)

يَوْمَئِذٍ  لَّا  تَنفَعُ  ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ  إِلَّا  مَنْ  أَذِنَ  لَهُ  ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ  وَرَضِىَ  لَهُۥ  قَوْلًا yawmaʾidhin tanfaʿu l‑shafāʿatu illā man adhina lahu l‑raḥmānu wa‑raḍiya lahu qawlan
On that Day shall no intercession avail except for those for whom permission has been granted by (Allah) Most Gracious and whose word is acceptable to Him.

Surah 21 al-Anbiyāʾ (The Prophets)
(21:109)

فَإِن  تَوَلَّوْا۟  فَقُلْ  ءَاذَنتُكُمْ  عَلَىٰ  سَوَآءٍ  وَإِنْ  أَدْرِىٓ  أَقَرِيبٌ  أَم  بَعِيدٌ  مَّا  تُوعَدُونَ fa‑in tawallaw fa‑qul ādhantukum ʿalā sawāʾin wa‑in adrī aqarībun am baʿīdun tūʿadūna
But if they turn back, Say: "I have proclaimed the Message to you all alike and in truth; but I know not whether that which ye are promised is near or far.

Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage)
(22:27)

"And proclaim the Pilgrimage among men: they will come to thee on foot and (mounted) on every kind of camel, lean on account of journeys through deep and distant mountain highways;
(22:39)

To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid;-

Surah 24 al-Nūr (The Light)
(24:28)

فَإِن  لَّمْ  تَجِدُوا۟  فِيهَآ  أَحَدًا  فَلَا  تَدْخُلُوهَا  حَتَّىٰ  يُؤْذَنَ  لَكُمْ  وَإِن  قِيلَ  لَكُمُ  ٱرْجِعُوا۟  فَٱرْجِعُوا۟  هُوَ  أَزْكَىٰ  لَكُمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  بِمَا  تَعْمَلُونَ  عَلِيمٌ fa‑in lam tajidū fīhā aḥadan fa‑lā tadkhulūhā ḥattā yudhana la‑kum wa‑in qīla lakumu arjiʿū fa‑irjiʿū huwa azka la‑kum wallāhu bi‑mā taʿmalūna ʿalīmun
If ye find no one in the house, enter not until permission is given to you: if ye are asked to go back, go back: that makes for greater purity for yourselves: and Allah knows well all that ye do.
(24:36)

فِى  بُيُوتٍ  أَذِنَ  ٱللَّـهُ  أَن  تُرْفَعَ  وَيُذْكَرَ  فِيهَا  ٱسْمُهُۥ  يُسَبِّحُ  لَهُۥ  فِيهَا  بِٱلْغُدُوِّ  وَٱلْأَصَالِ buyūtin adhina allāhu an turfaʿa wa‑yudhkara fīhā ismuhu yusabbiḥu lahu fīhā bil‑ghuduwwi wa‑l‑aṣāli
(Lit is such a Light) in houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised to honour; for the celebration, in them, of His name: In them is He glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, (again and again),-
(24:58)

O ye who believe! let those whom your right hands possess, and the (children) among you who have not come of age ask your permission (before they come to your presence), on three occasions: before morning prayer; the while ye doff your clothes for the noonday heat; and after the late-night prayer: these are your three times of undress: outside those times it is not wrong for you or for them to move about attending to each other: Thus does Allah make clear the Signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.
(24:59)

But when the children among you come of age, let them (also) ask for permission, as do those senior to them (in age): Thus does Allah make clear His Signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.
(24:62)

إِنَّمَا  ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَرَسُولِهِۦ  وَإِذَا  كَانُوا۟  مَعَهُۥ  عَلَىٰٓ  أَمْرٍ  جَامِعٍ  لَّمْ  يَذْهَبُوا۟  حَتَّىٰ  يَسْتَـْٔذِنُوهُ  إِنَّ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يَسْتَـْٔذِنُونَكَ  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يُؤْمِنُونَ  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَرَسُولِهِۦ  فَإِذَا  ٱسْتَـْٔذَنُوكَ  لِبَعْضِ  شَأْنِهِمْ  فَأْذَن  لِّمَن  شِئْتَ  مِنْهُمْ  وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ  لَهُمُ  ٱللَّـهَ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  غَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ innamā l‑muʾminūna lladhīna āmanū billāhi wa‑rasūlihi wa‑idhā kānū maʿahu ʿala amrin jāmiʿin lam yadhhabū ḥattā yastadhinūhu inna lladhīna yastaʾdhinūnaka ulāʾika lladhīna yuʾminūna billāhi wa‑rasūlihi fa‑idhā stadhanūka libaʿḍi shanihim fadhan lliman shiʾta minhum wa‑istaghfir lahumu allāha inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun
Only those are believers, who believe in Allah and His Messenger: when they are with him on a matter requiring collective action, they do not depart until they have asked for his leave; those who ask for thy leave are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger; so when they ask for thy leave, for some business of theirs, give leave to those of them whom thou wilt, and ask Allah for their forgiveness: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah 26 al-Shuʿarā (The Poets)
(26:49)

قَالَ  ءَامَنتُمْ  لَهُۥ  قَبْلَ  أَنْ  ءَاذَنَ  لَكُمْ  إِنَّهُۥ  لَكَبِيرُكُمُ  ٱلَّذِى  عَلَّمَكُمُ  ٱلسِّحْرَ  فَلَسَوْفَ  تَعْلَمُونَ  لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ  أَيْدِيَكُمْ  وَأَرْجُلَكُم  مِّنْ  خِلَٰفٍ  وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ  أَجْمَعِينَ qalā āmantum lahu qabla an ādhana la‑kum innahu la‑kabīrukumu alladhī ʿallamakumu l‑siḥra fa‑la‑sawfa taʿlamūna la‑uqaṭṭiʿanna aydiyakum wa‑arjulakum min khilāfin wa‑la‑uṣallibannakum ajmaʿīna
Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!"

Surah 33 al-Aḥzāb (The Allies)
(33:13)

وَإِذْ  قَالَت  طَّآئِفَةٌ  مِّنْهُمْ  يَٰٓأَهْلَ  يَثْرِبَ  لَا  مُقَامَ  لَكُمْ  فَٱرْجِعُوا۟  وَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُ  فَرِيقٌ  مِّنْهُمُ  ٱلنَّبِىَّ  يَقُولُونَ  إِنَّ  بُيُوتَنَا  عَوْرَةٌ  وَمَا  هِىَ  بِعَوْرَةٍ  إِن  يُرِيدُونَ  إِلَّا  فِرَارًا wa‑idh qālat ṭāʾifatun minhum yāʾahla yathriba muqāma la‑kum fa‑irjiʿū wa‑yastaʾdhinu farīqun minhumu l‑nabiyya yaqūlūna inna buyūtanā ʿawratun wa‑mā hiya biʿawratin in yurīdūna illā firāran
Behold! A party among them said: "Ye men of Yathrib! ye cannot stand (the attack)! therefore go back!" And a band of them ask for leave of the Prophet, saying, "Truly our houses are bare and exposed," though they were not exposed they intended nothing but to run away.
(33:53)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  لَا  تَدْخُلُوا۟  بُيُوتَ  ٱلنَّبِىِّ  إِلَّآ  أَن  يُؤْذَنَ  لَكُمْ  إِلَىٰ  طَعَامٍ  غَيْرَ  نَٰظِرِينَ  إِنَىٰهُ  وَلَٰكِنْ  إِذَا  دُعِيتُمْ  فَٱدْخُلُوا۟  فَإِذَا  طَعِمْتُمْ  فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟  وَلَا  مُسْتَـْٔنِسِينَ  لِحَدِيثٍ  إِنَّ  ذَٰلِكُمْ  كَانَ  يُؤْذِى  ٱلنَّبِىَّ  فَيَسْتَحْىِۦ  مِنكُمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  لَا  يَسْتَحْىِۦ  مِنَ  ٱلْحَقِّ  وَإِذَا  سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ  مَتَٰعًا  فَسْـَٔلُوهُنَّ  مِن  وَرَآءِ  حِجَابٍ  ذَٰلِكُمْ  أَطْهَرُ  لِقُلُوبِكُمْ  وَقُلُوبِهِنَّ  وَمَا  كَانَ  لَكُمْ  أَن  تُؤْذُوا۟  رَسُولَ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَلَآ  أَن  تَنكِحُوٓا۟  أَزْوَٰجَهُۥ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِهِۦٓ  أَبَدًا  إِنَّ  ذَٰلِكُمْ  كَانَ  عِندَ  ٱللَّـهِ  عَظِيمًا yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū tadkhulū buyūta l‑nabiyyi illā an yudhana la‑kum ilā ṭaʿāmin ghayra nāẓirīna inahu wa‑lākin idhā duʿītum fa‑idkhulū fa‑idhā ṭaʿimtum fa‑intashirū wa‑lā mustaʾnisīna li‑ḥadīthin inna dhālikum kāna yuʾdhī l‑nabiyya fa‑yastaḥyi minkum wallāhu yastaḥyi mina l‑ḥaqqi wa‑idhā saʾaltumūhunna matāʿan fa‑sʾalūhunna min warāʾi ḥijābin dhālikum aṭharu li‑qulūbikum wa‑qulūbihinna wa‑mā kāna la‑kum an tuʾdhū rasūla allāhi wa‑lā an tankiḥū azwājahu min baʿdihi abadan inna dhālikum kāna ʿinda allāhi ʿaẓīman
O ye who believe! Enter not the Prophet's houses,- until leave is given you,- for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited, enter; and when ye have taken your meal, disperse, without seeking familiar talk. Such (behaviour) annoys the Prophet: he is ashamed to dismiss you, but Allah is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth. And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs. Nor is it right for you that ye should annoy Allah's Messenger, or that ye should marry his widows after him at any time. Truly such a thing is in Allah's sight an enormity.

Surah 34 Sabaʾ (Sheba)
(34:23)

وَلَا  تَنفَعُ  ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ  عِندَهُۥٓ  إِلَّا  لِمَنْ  أَذِنَ  لَهُۥ  حَتَّىٰٓ  إِذَا  فُزِّعَ  عَن  قُلُوبِهِمْ  قَالُوا۟  مَاذَا  قَالَ  رَبُّكُمْ  قَالُوا۟  ٱلْحَقَّ  وَهُوَ  ٱلْعَلِىُّ  ٱلْكَبِيرُ wa‑lā tanfaʿu l‑shafāʿatu ʿindahu illā liman adhina lahu ḥatta idhā fuzziʿa ʿan qulūbihim qālū mādhā qalā rabbukum qālū l‑ḥaqqa wa‑huwa l‑ʿaliyyu l‑kabīru
"No intercession can avail in His Presence, except for those for whom He has granted permission. So far (is this the case) that, when terror is removed from their hearts (at the Day of Judgment, then) will they say, 'what is it that your Lord commanded?' they will say, 'That which is true and just; and He is the Most High Most Great'."

Surah 42 al-Shūrā (The Counsel)
(42:21)

What! have they partners (in godhead), who have established for them some religion without the permission of Allah? Had it not been for the Decree of Judgment, the matter would have been decided between them (at once). But verily the Wrong-doers will have a grievous Penalty.

Surah 53 al-Najm (The Star)
(53:26)

وَكَم  مِّن  مَّلَكٍ  فِى  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  لَا  تُغْنِى  شَفَٰعَتُهُمْ  شَيْـًٔا  إِلَّا  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  أَن  يَأْذَنَ  ٱللَّـهُ  لِمَن  يَشَآءُ  وَيَرْضَىٰٓ wa‑kam min malakin l‑samāwāti tughnī shafāʿatuhum shayʾan illā min baʿdi an yadhana allāhu li‑man yashāʾu wa‑yarḍā
How many-so-ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him.

Surah 77 al-Mursalāt (The Emissaries)
(77:36)

وَلَا  يُؤْذَنُ  لَهُمْ  فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ wa‑lā yuʾdhanu lahum fa‑yaʿtadhirūna
Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas.

Surah 78 al-Nabaʾ (The Tidings)
(78:38)

يَوْمَ  يَقُومُ  ٱلرُّوحُ  وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ  صَفًّا  لَّا  يَتَكَلَّمُونَ  إِلَّا  مَنْ  أَذِنَ  لَهُ  ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ  وَقَالَ  صَوَابًا yawma yaqūmu l‑rūḥu wa‑l‑malāʾikatu ṣaffan yatakallamūna illā man adhina lahu l‑raḥmānu wa‑qāla ṣawāban
The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (Allah) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right.

Surah 84 al-Inshiqāq (The Rending)
(84:2)

And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);-
(84:5)

And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality).
