Sura al-Baqara 2:27

ٱلَّذِينَ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَ ٱللَّـهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مِيثَٰقِهِۦ وَيَقْطَعُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ

lladhīna yanquḍūna ʿahda allāhi min baʿdi mīthāqihi wa-yaqṭaʿūna mā amara allāhu bihi an yūṣala wa-yufsidūna fī l-arḍi ulāʾika humu l-khāsirūna

Those who break Allah's Covenant after it is ratified, and who sunder what Allah Has ordered to be joined, and do mischief on earth: These cause loss (only) to themselves.

Sura al-Baqara 2:44

أَتَأْمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلْبِرِّ وَتَنسَوْنَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَتْلُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

ataʾmurūna l-nāsa bil-birri wa-tansawna anfusakum wa-antum tatlūna l-kitāba a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Do ye enjoin right conduct on the people, and forget (To practise it) yourselves, and yet ye study the Scripture? Will ye not understand?

Sura al-Baqara 2:67

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا۟ بَقَرَةً قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّـهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

wa-idh qalā mūsā li-qawmihi inna allāha yaʾmurukum an tadhbaḥū baqaratan qālū atattakhidhunā huzuwan qalā aʿūdhu billāhi an akūna mina l-jāhilīna

And remember Moses said to his people: "Allah commands that ye sacrifice a heifer." They said: "Makest thou a laughing-stock of us?" He said: "Allah save me from being an ignorant (fool)!"

Sura al-Baqara 2:68

قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَّا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ عَوَانٌۢ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ فَٱفْعَلُوا۟ مَا تُؤْمَرُونَ

qālū idʿu la-nā rabbaka yubayyin lanā mā hiya qalā innahu yaqūlu innahā baqaratun lā fāriḍun wa-lā bikrun ʿawānun bayna dhālika fa-ifʿalū mā tuʾmarūna

They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us what (heifer) it is!" He said; "He says: The heifer should be neither too old nor too young, but of middling age. Now do what ye are commanded!"

Sura al-Baqara 2:93

وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ ٱلطُّورَ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَأُشْرِبُوا۟ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ بِكُفْرِهِمْ قُلْ بِئْسَمَا يَأْمُرُكُم بِهِۦٓ إِيمَٰنُكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

wa-idh akhadhnā mīthāqakum wa-rafaʿnā fawqakumu l-ṭūra khudhū mā ātaynākum bi-quwwātin wa-ismaʿū qālū samiʿnā wa-ʿaṣaynā wa-ushribū fī qulūbihimu l-ʿijla bi-kufrihim qul biʾsamā yaʾmurukum bihi īmānukum in kuntum muʾminīna

And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you (the towering height) of Mount (Sinai): (Saying): "Hold firmly to what We have given you, and hearken (to the Law)": They said:" We hear, and we disobey:" And they had to drink into their hearts (of the taint) of the calf because of their Faithlessness. Say: "Vile indeed are the behests of your Faith if ye have any faith!"

Sura al-Baqara 2:169

إِنَّمَا يَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلسُّوٓءِ وَٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَأَن تَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

innamā yaʾmurukum bil-sūʾi wa-l-faḥshāʾi wa-an taqūlū ʿalā allāhi mā lā taʿlamūna

For he commands you what is evil and shameful, and that ye should say of Allah that of which ye have no knowledge.

Sura al-Baqara 2:222

وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْمَحِيضِ قُلْ هُوَ أَذًى فَٱعْتَزِلُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فِى ٱلْمَحِيضِ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّىٰ يَطْهُرْنَ فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرْنَ فَأْتُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلتَّوَّٰبِينَ وَيُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ

wa-yasʾalūnaka ʿani l-maḥīḍi qul huwa adhan faʿtazilū l-nisāʾa fī l-maḥīḍi wa-lā taqrabūhunna ḥattā yaṭhurna fa-idhā taṭahharna fatūhunna min ḥaythu amarakumu allāhu inna allāha yuḥibbu l-tawwābīna wa-yuḥibbu l-mutaṭahhirīna

They ask thee concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution: So keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves, ye may approach them in any manner, time, or place ordained for you by Allah. For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.

Sura al-Baqara 2:268

ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ يَعِدُكُمُ ٱلْفَقْرَ وَيَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱللَّـهُ يَعِدُكُم مَّغْفِرَةً مِّنْهُ وَفَضْلًا وَٱللَّـهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

l-shayṭānu yaʿidukumu l-faqra wa-yamurukum bil-faḥshāʾi wallāhu yaʿidukum maghfiratan minhu wa-faḍlan wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun

The Evil one threatens you with poverty and bids you to conduct unseemly. Allah promiseth you His forgiveness and bounties. And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:21

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

inna lladhīna yakfurūna bi-āyāti allāhi wa-yaqtulūna l-nabiyyina bi-ghayri ḥaqqin wa-yaqtulūna lladhīna yaʾmurūna bil-qisṭi mina l-nāsi fa-bashshirhum bi-ʿadhābin alīmin

As to those who deny the Signs of Allah and in defiance of right, slay the prophets, and slay those who teach just dealing with mankind, announce to them a grievous penalty.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:80

وَلَا يَأْمُرَكُمْ أَن تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ وَٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ أَرْبَابًا أَيَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ

wa-lā yamurakum an tattakhidhū l-malāikata wa-l-nabīyina arbāban ayamurukum bil-kufri baʿda idh antum muslimūna

Nor would he instruct you to take angels and prophets for Lords and patrons. What! would he bid you to unbelief after ye have bowed your will (To Allah in Islam)?

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:104

وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

wa-l-takun minkum ummatun yadʿūna ilā l-khayri wa-yaʾmurūna bil-maʿrūfi wa-yanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-ūlāʾika humu l-mufliḥūna

Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:110

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَلَوْ ءَامَنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُم مِّنْهُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ

kuntum khayra ummatin ukhrijat lil-nāsi taʾmurūna bil-maʿrūfi wa-tanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-tuminūna billāhi wa-law āmana ahlu l-kitābi la-kāna khayran lahum minhumu l-muʾminūna wa-aktharuhumu l-fāsiqūna

Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:114

يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

yuʾminūna billāhi wa-l-yawmi l-akhiri wa-yaʾmurūna bil-maʿrūfi wa-yanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-yusāriʿūna fī l-khayrāti wa-ūlāʾika mina l-ṣāliḥīna

They believe in Allah and the Last Day; they enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong; and they hasten (in emulation) in (all) good works: They are in the ranks of the righteous.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:37

ٱلَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا

lladhīna yabkhalūna wa-yaʾmurūna l-nāsa bil-bukhli wa-yaktumūna mā ātahumu allāhu min faḍlihi wa-aʿtadnā lil-kāfirīna ʿadhāban muhīnan

(Nor) those who are niggardly or enjoin niggardliness on others, or hide the bounties which Allah hath bestowed on them; for We have prepared, for those who resist Faith, a punishment that steeps them in contempt;-

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:58

إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تُؤَدُّوا۟ ٱلْأَمَٰنَٰتِ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمْتُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ أَن تَحْكُمُوا۟ بِٱلْعَدْلِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ نِعِمَّا يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا

inna allāha yaʾmurukum an tuaddū l-amānāti ila ahlihā wa-idhā ḥakamtum bayna l-nāsi an taḥkumū bil-ʿadli inna allāha niʿimmā yaʿiẓukum bihi inna allāha kāna samīʿan baṣīran

Allah doth command you to render back your Trusts to those to whom they are due; And when ye judge between man and man, that ye judge with justice: Verily how excellent is the teaching which He giveth you! For Allah is He Who heareth and seeth all things.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:60

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَقَدْ أُمِرُوٓا۟ أَن يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا

a-lam tara ilā lladhīna yazʿumūna annahum āmanū bimā unzila ilayka wa-mā unzila min qablika yurīdūna an yataḥākamū ilā l-ṭāghūti wa-qad umirū an yakfurū bihi wa-yurīdu l-shayṭānu an yuḍillahum ḍalālan baʿīdan

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who declare that they believe in the revelations that have come to thee and to those before thee? Their (real) wish is to resort together for judgment (in their disputes) to the Evil One, though they were ordered to reject him. But Satan's wish is to lead them astray far away (from the right).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:114

لَّا خَيْرَ فِى كَثِيرٍ مِّن نَّجْوَىٰهُمْ إِلَّا مَنْ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ أَوْ مَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ إِصْلَٰحٍۭ بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ ٱبْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ ٱللَّـهِ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

lā khayra fī kathīrin min najwāhum illā man amara biṣadaqatin aw maʿrūfin aw iṣlāḥin bayna l-nāsi wa-man yafʿal dhālika ibtighāʾa marḍāti allāhi fa-sawfa nuʾtīhi ajran ʿaẓīman

In most of their secret talks there is no good: But if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or conciliation between men, (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest (value).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:119

وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا

wa-la-uḍillannahum wa-la-umanniyannahum wa-la-āmurannahum fa-la-yubattikunna ādhāna l-anʿāmi wa-la-āmurannahum fa-la-yughayyirunna khalqa allāhi wa-man yattakhidhi l-shayṭāna waliyyan min dūni allāhi fa-qad khasira khusrānan mubīnan

"I will mislead them, and I will create in them false desires; I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and to deface the (fair) nature created by Allah." Whoever, forsaking Allah, takes satan for a friend, hath of a surety suffered a loss that is manifest.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:117

مَا قُلْتُ لَهُمْ إِلَّا مَآ أَمَرْتَنِى بِهِۦٓ أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ رَبِّى وَرَبَّكُمْ وَكُنتُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا مَّا دُمْتُ فِيهِمْ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيْتَنِى كُنتَ أَنتَ ٱلرَّقِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَنتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

mā qultu lahum illā mā amartanī bihi ani iʿbudū allāha rabbī wa-rabbakum wa-kuntu ʿalayhim shahīdan mā dumtu fīhim fa-lammā tawaffaytanī kunta anta l-raqība ʿalayhim waanta ʿalā kulli shayʾin shahīdun

"Never said I to them aught except what Thou didst command me to say, to wit, 'worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord'; and I was a witness over them whilst I dwelt amongst them; when Thou didst take me up Thou wast the Watcher over them, and Thou art a witness to all things.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:14

قُلْ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّـهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِيًّا فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ يُطْعِمُ وَلَا يُطْعَمُ قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

qul aghayra allāhi attakhidhu waliyyan fāṭiri l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-huwa yuṭʿimu wa-lā yuṭʿamu qul innī umirtu an akūna awwala man aslama wa-lā takūnanna mina l-mushrikīna

Say: "Shall I take for my protector any other than Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? And He it is that feedeth but is not fed." Say: "Nay! but I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah (in Islam), and be not thou of the company of those who join gods with Allah."

Sura al-Anʿām 6:71

قُلْ أَنَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَابِنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَىٰنَا ٱللَّـهُ كَٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَهْوَتْهُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ حَيْرَانَ لَهُۥٓ أَصْحَٰبٌ يَدْعُونَهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَى ٱئْتِنَا قُلْ إِنَّ هُدَى ٱللَّـهِ هُوَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَأُمِرْنَا لِنُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

qul anadʿū min dūni allāhi mā lā yanfaʿunā wa-lā yaḍurrunā wa-nuraddu ʿala aʿqābinā baʿda idh hadanā allāhu ka-lladhī istahwathu l-shayāṭīnu fī l-arḍi ḥayrāna lahu aṣḥābun yadʿūnahu ilā al-huda iʾtinā qul inna huda allāhi huwa l-hudā wa-umirnā linuslima li-rabbi l-ʿālamīna

Say: "Shall we indeed call on others besides Allah,- things that can do us neither good nor harm,- and turn on our heels after receiving guidance from Allah? - like one whom the evil ones have made into a fool, wandering bewildered through the earth, his friends calling, come to us', (vainly) guiding him to the path." Say: "Allah's guidance is the (only) guidance, and we have been directed to submit ourselves to the Lord of the worlds;-

Sura al-Anʿām 6:163

لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُۥ وَبِذَٰلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

lā sharīka lahu wa-bi-dhālika umirtu wa-anā awwalu l-muslimīna

No partner hath He: this am I commanded, and I am the first of those who bow to His will.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:12

قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَلَّا تَسْجُدَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍ

qalā mā manaʿaka allā tasjuda idh amartuka qalā anā khayrun minhu khalaqtanī min nnārin wa-khalaqtahu min ṭīnin

(Allah) said: "What prevented thee from prostrating when I commanded thee?" He said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:28

وَإِذَا فَعَلُوا۟ فَٰحِشَةً قَالُوا۟ وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهَآ ءَابَآءَنَا وَٱللَّـهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَا قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْفَحْشَآءِ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

wa-idhā faʿalū fāḥishatan qālū wajadnā ʿalayhā ābāʾanā wallāhu amaranā bihā qul inna allāha lā yaʾmuru bil-faḥshāʾi ataqūlūna ʿalā allāhi mā lā taʿlamūna

When they do aught that is shameful, they say: "We found our fathers doing so"; and "Allah commanded us thus": Say: "Nay, Allah never commands what is shameful: do ye say of Allah what ye know not?"

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:29

قُلْ أَمَرَ رَبِّى بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ عِندَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَٱدْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ كَمَا بَدَأَكُمْ تَعُودُونَ

qul amara rabbī bil-qisṭi wa-aqīmū wujūhakum ʿinda kulli masjidin wa-adʿūhu mukhliṣīna lahu l-dīna ka-mā badaʾakum taʿūdūna

Say: "My Lord hath commanded justice; and that ye set your whole selves (to Him) at every time and place of prayer, and call upon Him, making your devotion sincere as in His sight: such as He created you in the beginning, so shall ye return."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:110

يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُمْ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ

yurīdu an yukhrijakum min arḍikum fa-mādhā taʾmurūna

"His plan is to get you out of your land: then what is it ye counsel?"

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:145

وَكَتَبْنَا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْأَلْوَاحِ مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مَّوْعِظَةً وَتَفْصِيلًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوا۟ بِأَحْسَنِهَا سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ دَارَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

wakatabnā lahu fī l-alwāḥi min kulli shayʾin mawʿiẓatan wa-tafṣīlan li-kulli shayʾin fa-khudhhā bi-quwwātin wa-ʾmur qawmaka yaʾkhudhu bi-aḥsanihā sa-ūrīkum dāra l-fāsiqīna

And We ordained laws for him in the tablets in all matters, both commanding and explaining all things, (and said): "Take and hold these with firmness, and enjoin thy people to hold fast by the best in the precepts: soon shall I show you the homes of the wicked,- (How they lie desolate)."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:157

ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ ٱلنَّبِىَّ ٱلْأُمِّىَّ ٱلَّذِى يَجِدُونَهُۥ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَىٰهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْخَبَٰٓئِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَٱلْأَغْلَٰلَ ٱلَّتِى كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلنُّورَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ مَعَهُۥٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

lladhīna yattabiʿūna l-rasūla l-nabiyya l-ummiyya alladhī yajidūnahu maktūban ʿindahum fī l-tawrāti wa-l-injīli yaʾmuruhum bil-maʿrūfi wa-yanhahum ʿani l-munkari wa-yuḥillu lahumu l-ṭayyibāti wa-yuḥarrimu ʿalayhimu l-khabāʾitha wa-yaḍaʿu ʿanhum iṣrahum wa-l-aghlāla allatī kānat ʿalayhim fa-lladhīna āmanū bihi wa-ʿazzarūhu wa-naṣarūhu wa-ittabaʿū l-nūra alladhī unzila maʿahu ulāʾika humu l-mufliḥūna

"Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures),- in the law and the Gospel;- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:199

خُذِ ٱلْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

khudhi l-ʿafwa wa-ʾmur bil-ʿurfi wa-aʿriḍ ʿani l-jāhilīna

Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; But turn away from the ignorant.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:31

ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَٰنَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَٰهًا وَٰحِدًا لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

ittakhadhū aḥbārahum wa-ruhbānahum arbāban min dūni allāhi wa-l-masīḥa ibna maryama wa-mā umirū illā li-yaʿbudū ilāhan wāḥidan lā ilāha illā huwa subḥānahu ʿammā yushrikūna

They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but One Allah: there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (Far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him).

Sura al-Tawbah 9:67

ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ

l-munāfiqūna wa-l-munāfiqātu baʿḍuhum min baʿḍin yaʾmurūna bil-munkari wa-yanhawna ʿani l-maʿrūfi wa-yaqbiḍūna aydiyahum nasū allāha fa-nasiyahum inna l-munāfiqīna humu l-fāsiqūna

The Hypocrites, men and women, (have an understanding) with each other: They enjoin evil, and forbid what is just, and are close with their hands. They have forgotten Allah; so He hath forgotten them. Verily the Hypocrites are rebellious and perverse.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:71

وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

wa-l-muʾminūna wa-l-muʾminātu baʿḍuhum awliyāʾu baʿḍin yaʾmurūna bil-maʿrūfi wa-yanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-yuqīmūna l-ṣalāta wa-yuʾtūna l-zakāta wa-yuṭīʿūna allāha wa-rasūlahu ulāʾika sa-yarḥamuhumu allāhu inna allāha ʿazīzun ḥakīmun

The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.

Sura Yūnus 10:72

فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَمَا سَأَلْتُكُم مِّنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

fa-in tawallaytum fa-mā saaltukum min ajrin in ajriya illā ʿalā allāhi wa-umirtu an akūna mina l-muslimīna

"But if ye turn back, (consider): no reward have I asked of you: my reward is only due from Allah, and I have been commanded to be of those who submit to Allah's will (in Islam)."

Sura Yūnus 10:104

قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن دِينِى فَلَآ أَعْبُدُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَٰكِنْ أَعْبُدُ ٱللَّـهَ ٱلَّذِى يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

qul yā-ayyuhā l-nāsu in kuntum fī shakkin min dīnī fa-lā aʿbudu lladhīna taʿbudūna min dūni allāhi wa-lākin aʿbudu allāha alladhī yatawaffakum wa-umirtu an akūna mina l-muʾminīna

Say: "O ye men! If ye are in doubt as to my religion, (behold!) I worship not what ye worship, other than Allah! But I worship Allah - Who will take your souls (at death): I am commanded to be (in the ranks) of the Believers,

Sura Hūd 11:87

قَالُوا۟ يَٰشُعَيْبُ أَصَلَوٰتُكَ تَأْمُرُكَ أَن نَّتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَآ أَوْ أَن نَّفْعَلَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِنَا مَا نَشَٰٓؤُا۟ إِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ ٱلْحَلِيمُ ٱلرَّشِيدُ

qālū yā-shuʿaybu aṣalātuka taʾmuruka an natruka mā yaʿbudu ābāunā aw an nafʿala fī amwālinā mā nashāʾu innaka la-anta l-ḥalīmu l-rashīdu

They said: "O Shu'aib! Does thy (religion of) prayer command thee that we leave off the worship which our fathers practised, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? truly, thou art the one that forbeareth with faults and is right-minded!"

Sura Hūd 11:112

فَٱسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ أُمِرْتَ وَمَن تَابَ مَعَكَ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا۟ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

fa-istaqim ka-mā umirta wa-man tāba maʿaka wa-lā taṭghaw innahu bi-mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun

Therefore stand firm (in the straight Path) as thou art commanded,- thou and those who with thee turn (unto Allah); and transgress not (from the Path): for He seeth well all that ye do.

Sura Yūsuf 12:32

قَالَتْ فَذَٰلِكُنَّ ٱلَّذِى لُمْتُنَّنِى فِيهِ وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ فَٱسْتَعْصَمَ وَلَئِن لَّمْ يَفْعَلْ مَآ ءَامُرُهُۥ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُونًا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰغِرِينَ

qālat fa-dhālikunna alladhī lumtunnanī fīhi wa-la-qad rāwadttuhu ʿan nafsihi fa-istaʿṣama wa-laʾin lam yafʿal mā āmuruhu la-yusjananna wa-la-yakūnan mina l-ṣāghirīna

She said: "There before you is the man about whom ye did blame me! I did seek to seduce him from his (true) self but he did firmly save himself guiltless!....and now, if he doth not my bidding, he shall certainly be cast into prison, and (what is more) be of the company of the vilest!"

Sura Yūsuf 12:40

مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءً سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَٰنٍ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّـهِ أَمَرَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

mā taʿbudūna min dūnihi illā asmāʾan sammaytumūhā antum wa-ābāukum mā anzala allāhu bihā min sulṭānin ini l-ḥukmu illā lillāhi amara allā taʿbudū illā iyyāhu dhālika l-dīnu l-qayyimu wa-lākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūna

"If not Him, ye worship nothing but names which ye have named,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah hath sent down no authority: the command is for none but Allah: He hath commanded that ye worship none but Him: that is the right religion, but most men understand not...

Sura Yūsuf 12:68

وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُم مَّا كَانَ يُغْنِى عَنْهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ مِن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا حَاجَةً فِى نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَىٰهَا وَإِنَّهُۥ لَذُو عِلْمٍ لِّمَا عَلَّمْنَٰهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-lammā dakhalū min ḥaythu amarahum abūhum mā kāna yughnī ʿanhum mina allāhi min shayʾin illā ḥājatan fī nafsi yaʿqūba qaḍahā wa-innahu la-dhū ʿilmin li-mā ʿallamnāhu wa-lākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūna

And when they entered in the manner their father had enjoined, it did not profit them in the least against (the plan of) Allah: It was but a necessity of Jacob's soul, which he discharged. For he was, by our instruction, full of knowledge (and experience): but most men know not.

Sura al-Raʿd 13:21

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ وَيَخَافُونَ سُوٓءَ ٱلْحِسَابِ

wa-lladhīna yaṣilūna mā amara allāhu bihi an yūṣala wa-yakhshawna rabbahum wa-yakhāfūna suʾa l-ḥisābi

Those who join together those things which Allah hath commanded to be joined, hold their Lord in awe, and fear the terrible reckoning;

Sura al-Raʿd 13:25

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَ ٱللَّـهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مِيثَٰقِهِۦ وَيَقْطَعُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّـهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ

wa-lladhīna yanquḍūna ʿahda allāhi min baʿdi mīthāqihi wa-yaqṭaʿūna mā amara allāhu bihi an yūṣala wa-yufsidūna fī l-arḍi ulāʾika lahumu l-laʿnatu wa-lahum sūu l-dāri

But those who break the Covenant of Allah, after having plighted their word thereto, and cut asunder those things which Allah has commanded to be joined, and work mischief in the land;- on them is the curse; for them is the terrible home!

Sura al-Raʿd 13:36

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمِنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ مَن يُنكِرُ بَعْضَهُۥ قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱللَّـهَ وَلَآ أُشْرِكَ بِهِۦٓ إِلَيْهِ أَدْعُوا۟ وَإِلَيْهِ مَـَٔابِ

wa-lladhīna ātaynāhumu l-kitāba yafraḥūna bimā unzila ilayka wa-mina l-aḥzābi man yunkiru baʿḍahu qul innamā umirtu an aʿbuda allāha wa-lā ushrika bihi ilayhi adʿū wa-ilayhi maʾābi

Those to whom We have given the Book rejoice at what hath been revealed unto thee: but there are among the clans those who reject a part thereof. Say: "I am commanded to worship Allah, and not to join partners with Him. Unto Him do I call, and unto Him is my return."

Sura al-Ḥijr 15:65

فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ

fa-asri bi-ahlika bi-qiṭʿin mina l-layli wa-ittabiʿ adbārahum wa-lā yaltafit minkum aḥadun wa-amḍū ḥaythu tuʾmarūna

"Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."

Sura al-Ḥijr 15:94

فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

fa-iṣdaʿ bi-mā tuʾmaru wa-aʿriḍ ʿani l-mushrikīna

Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:50

يَخَافُونَ رَبَّهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ

yakhāfūna rabbahum min fawqihim wa-yafʿalūna mā yumarūna

They all revere their Lord, high above them, and they do all that they are commanded.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:76

وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّـهُ مَثَلًا رَّجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَبْكَمُ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَىٰهُ أَيْنَمَا يُوَجِّههُّ لَا يَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى هُوَ وَمَن يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

wa-ḍaraba allāhu mathalan rrajulayni aḥaduhumā abkamu lā yaqdiru ʿalā shayʾin wa-huwa kallun ʿalā mawlāhu aynamā yūajjihhhu lā yaʾti bi-khayrin hal yastawī huwa wa-man yaʾmuru bil-ʿadli wa-huwa ʿalā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin

Allah sets forth (another) Parable of two men: one of them dumb, with no power of any sort; a wearisome burden is he to his master; whichever way be directs him, he brings no good: is such a man equal with one who commands Justice, and is on a Straight Way?

Sura al-Naḥl 16:90

إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱلْإِحْسَٰنِ وَإِيتَآئِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْبَغْىِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ

inna allāha yaʾmuru bil-ʿadli wa-aliḥsāni waītāi dhī l-qurbā wa-yanha ʿani l-faḥshāʾi wa-l-munkari wa-l-baghyi yaʿiẓukum la-ʿallakum tadhakkarūna

Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:16

وَإِذَآ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا۟ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَٰهَا تَدْمِيرًا

wa-idhā aradnā an nnuhlika qaryatan amarnā mutrafīhā fa-fasaqū fīhā fa-ḥaqqa ʿalayhā l-qawlu fa-dammarnāhā tadmīran

When We decide to destroy a population, We (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: then (it is) We destroy them utterly.

Sura Maryam 19:55

وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرْضِيًّا

wa-kāna yaʾmuru ahlahu bil-ṣalāti wa-l-zakāti wa-kāna ʿinda rabbihi marḍiyyan

He used to enjoin on his people Prayer and Charity, and he was most acceptable in the sight of his Lord.

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:132

وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا لَا نَسْـَٔلُكَ رِزْقًا نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ وَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ

wa-ʾmur ahlaka bil-ṣalāti wa-iṣṭabir ʿalayhā lā nasʾaluka rizqan nnaḥnu narzuquka wa-l-ʿāqibatu lil-taqwā

Enjoin prayer on thy people, and be constant therein. We ask thee not to provide sustenance: We provide it for thee. But the (fruit of) the Hereafter is for righteousness.
