Sura al-Baqara 2:59

فَبَدَّلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ قَوْلًا غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ رِجْزًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ

fa-baddala lladhīna ẓalamū qawlan ghayra alladhī qīla lahum fa-anzalnā ʿalā lladhīna ẓalamū rijzan mina l-samāʾi bi-mā kānū yafsuqūna

But the transgressors changed the word from that which had been given them; so We sent on the transgressors a plague from heaven, for that they infringed (Our command) repeatedly.

Sura al-Baqara 2:181

فَمَنۢ بَدَّلَهُۥ بَعْدَمَا سَمِعَهُۥ فَإِنَّمَآ إِثْمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَدِّلُونَهُۥٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

fa-man baddalahu baʿdamā samiʿahu fa-innamā ithmuhu ʿalā lladhīna yubaddilūnahu inna allāha samīʿun ʿalīmun

If anyone changes the bequest after hearing it, the guilt shall be on those who make the change. For Allah hears and knows (All things).

Sura al-Baqara 2:211

سَلْ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ كَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍۭ بَيِّنَةٍ وَمَن يُبَدِّلْ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّـهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ

sal banī isrāʾīla kam ātaynāhum min āyatin bayyinatin wa-man yubaddil niʿmata allāhi min baʿdi mā jāʾathu fa-inna allāha shadīdu l-ʿiqābi

Ask the Children of Israel how many clear (Signs) We have sent them. But if any one, after Allah's favour has come to him, substitutes (something else), Allah is strict in punishment.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:56

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا سَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِمْ نَارًا كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتْ جُلُودُهُم بَدَّلْنَٰهُمْ جُلُودًا غَيْرَهَا لِيَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا

inna lladhīna kafarū bi-āyātinā sawfa nuṣlīhim nāran kullamā naḍijat julūduhum baddalnāhum julūdan ghayrahā līadhūqū l-ʿadhāba inna allāha kāna ʿazīzan ḥakīman

Those who reject our Signs, We shall soon cast into the Fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:95

ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ ٱلسَّيِّئَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَوا۟ وَّقَالُوا۟ قَدْ مَسَّ ءَابَآءَنَا ٱلضَّرَّآءُ وَٱلسَّرَّآءُ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

thumma baddalnā makāna l-sayyiati l-ḥasanata ḥattā ʿafaw wwa-qālū qad massa ābāʾanā l-ḍarrāʾu wa-l-sarrāʾu fa-akhadhnāhum baghtatan wa-hum lā yashʿurūna

Then We changed their suffering into prosperity, until they grew and multiplied, and began to say: "Our fathers (too) were touched by suffering and affluence" ... Behold! We called them to account of a sudden, while they realised not (their peril).

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:162

فَبَدَّلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ قَوْلًا غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَظْلِمُونَ

fa-baddala lladhīna ẓalamū minhum qawlan ghayra alladhī qīla lahum fa-arsalnā ʿalayhim rijzan mina l-samāʾi bi-mā kānū yaẓlimūna

But the transgressors among them changed the word from that which had been given them so we sent on them a plague from heaven. For that they repeatedly transgressed.

Sura Yūnus 10:15

وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٍ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا ٱئْتِ بِقُرْءَانٍ غَيْرِ هَٰذَآ أَوْ بَدِّلْهُ قُلْ مَا يَكُونُ لِىٓ أَنْ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلْقَآئِ نَفْسِىٓ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

wa-idhā tutlā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qalā lladhīna lā yarjūna liqāʾanā iʾti bi-qurʾānin ghayri hādhā aw baddilhu qul mā yakūnu lī an ubaddilahu min tilqāʾi nafsī in attabiʿu illā mā yūḥā ilayya innī akhāfu in ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin

But when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed unto them, those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, Say: "Bring us a reading other than this, or change this," Say: "It is not for me, of my own accord, to change it: I follow naught but what is revealed unto me: if I were to disobey my Lord, I should myself fear the penalty of a Great Day (to come)."

Sura Ibrāhīm 14:28

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ بَدَّلُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّـهِ كُفْرًا وَأَحَلُّوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ دَارَ ٱلْبَوَارِ

a-lam tara ilā lladhīna baddalū niʿmata allāhi kufran wa-aḥallū qawmahum dāra l-bawāri

Hast thou not turned thy vision to those who have changed the favour of Allah. Into blasphemy and caused their people to descend to the House of Perdition?-

Sura Ibrāhīm 14:48

يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ ٱلْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَبَرَزُوا۟ لِلَّـهِ ٱلْوَٰحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ

yawma tubaddalu l-arḍu ghayra l-arḍi wa-l-samāwātu wa-barazū lillāhi l-wāḥidi l-qahhāri

One day the earth will be changed to a different earth, and so will be the heavens, and (men) will be marshalled forth, before Allah, the One, the Irresistible;

Sura al-Naḥl 16:101

وَإِذَا بَدَّلْنَآ ءَايَةً مَّكَانَ ءَايَةٍ وَٱللَّـهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُنَزِّلُ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُفْتَرٍۭ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-idhā baddalnā āyatan makāna āyatin wallāhu aʿlamu bi-mā yunazzilu qālū innamā anta muftarin bal aktharuhum lā yaʿlamūna

When We substitute one revelation for another,- and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages),- they say, "Thou art but a forger": but most of them understand not.

Sura al-Nūr 24:55

وَعَدَ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمَا ٱسْتَخْلَفَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى ٱرْتَضَىٰ لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْنًا يَعْبُدُونَنِى لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِى شَيْـًٔا وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ

waʿada allāhu lladhīna āmanū minkum wa-ʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti la-yastakhlifannahum fī l-arḍi ka-mā istakhlafa lladhīna min qablihim wa-la-yumakkinanna lahum dīnahumu alladhī irtaḍā lahum wa-la-yubaddilannahum min baʿdi khawfihim amnan yaʿbudūnanī lā yushrikūna bī shayʾan wa-man kafara baʿda dhālika fa-ūlāʾika humu l-fāsiqūna

Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion - the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace: 'They will worship Me (alone) and not associate aught with Me. 'If any do reject Faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked.

Sura al-Furqān 25:70

إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَٰلِحًا فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ ٱللَّـهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ حَسَنَٰتٍ وَكَانَ ٱللَّـهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

illā man tāba wa-āmana wa-ʿamila ʿamalan ṣāliḥan fa-ūlāʾika yubaddilu allāhu sayyiʾātihim ḥasanātin wa-kāna allāhu ghafūran raḥīman

Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,

Sura al-Naml 27:11

إِلَّا مَن ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْنًۢا بَعْدَ سُوٓءٍ فَإِنِّى غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

illā man ẓalama thumma baddala ḥusnan baʿda sūʾin fa-innī ghafūrun raḥīmun

"But if any have done wrong and have thereafter substituted good to take the place of evil, truly, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:23

مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا۟ مَا عَٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُۥ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا۟ تَبْدِيلًا

mina l-muʾminīna rijālun ṣadaqū mā ʿāhadū allāha ʿalayhi fa-minhum man qaḍa naḥbahu wa-minhum man yantaẓiru wa-mā baddalū tabdīlan

Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah: of them some have completed their vow (to the extreme), and some (still) wait: but they have never changed (their determination) in the least:

Sura Sabaʾ 34:16

فَأَعْرَضُوا۟ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَيْلَ ٱلْعَرِمِ وَبَدَّلْنَٰهُم بِجَنَّتَيْهِمْ جَنَّتَيْنِ ذَوَاتَىْ أُكُلٍ خَمْطٍ وَأَثْلٍ وَشَىْءٍ مِّن سِدْرٍ قَلِيلٍ

faaʿraḍū fa-arsalnā ʿalayhim sayla l-ʿarimi wa-baddalnāhum bijannatayhim jannatayni dhawāta ukulin khamṭin wa-athlin wa-shayin min sidrin qalīlin

But they turned away (from Allah), and We sent against them the Flood (released) from the dams, and We converted their two garden (rows) into "gardens" producing bitter fruit, and tamarisks, and some few (stunted) Lote-trees.

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:26

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ذَرُونِىٓ أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُۥٓ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَن يُظْهِرَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْفَسَادَ

wa-qāla firʿawun dharūnī aqtul mūsā wa-l-yadʿu rabbahu innī akhāfu an yubaddila dīnakum aw an yuẓhira fī l-arḍi l-fasāda

Said Pharaoh: "Leave me to slay Moses; and let him call on his Lord! What I fear is lest he should change your religion, or lest he should cause mischief to appear in the land!"

Sura al-Fatḥ 48:15

سَيَقُولُ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ إِذَا ٱنطَلَقْتُمْ إِلَىٰ مَغَانِمَ لِتَأْخُذُوهَا ذَرُونَا نَتَّبِعْكُمْ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُبَدِّلُوا۟ كَلَٰمَ ٱللَّـهِ قُل لَّن تَتَّبِعُونَا كَذَٰلِكُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّـهُ مِن قَبْلُ فَسَيَقُولُونَ بَلْ تَحْسُدُونَنَا بَلْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

sa-yaqūlu l-mukhallafūna idhā inṭalaqtum ilā maghānima li-taʾkhudhūhā dharūnā nattabiʿkum yurīdūna an yubaddilū kalāma allāhi qul lan tattabiʿūnā kadhālikum qalā allāhu min qablu fa-sa-yaqūlūna bal taḥsudūnanā bal kānū lā yafqahūna illā qalīlan

Those who lagged behind (will say), when ye (are free to) march and take booty (in war): "Permit us to follow you." They wish to change Allah's decree: Say: "Not thus will ye follow us: Allah has already declared (this) beforehand": then they will say, "But ye are jealous of us." Nay, but little do they understand (such things).

Sura Qāf 50:29

مَا يُبَدَّلُ ٱلْقَوْلُ لَدَىَّ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِظَلَّٰمٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ

mā yubaddalu l-qawlu ladayya wa-mā anā bi-ẓallāmin lil-ʿabīdi

"The Word changes not before Me, and I do not the least injustice to My Servants."

Sura al-Wāqiʿah 56:61

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

ʿala an nubaddila amthālakum wa-nunshiʾakum fī mā lā taʿlamūna

from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not.

Sura al-Maʿārij 70:41

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ

ʿala an nubaddila khayran minhum wa-mā naḥnu bi-masbūqīna

Substitute for them better (men) than they; And We are not to be defeated (in Our Plan).

Sura al-Insān 76:28

نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا

nnaḥnu khalaqnāhum wa-shadadnā asrahum wa-idhā shiʾnā baddalnā amthālahum tabdīlan

It is We Who created them, and We have made their joints strong; but, when We will, We can substitute the like of them by a complete change.
