(19:92) | وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا | wa‑mā yanbaghī lil‑raḥmāni an yattakhidha waladan | For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most
Gracious that He should beget a son.
Sura Maryam 19:92 وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا wa-mā yanbaghī lil-raḥmāni an yattakhidha waladan For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son. |
(25:18) | قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَٰنَكَ مَا كَانَ يَنۢبَغِى لَنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ مِن دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَٰكِن مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَسُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا | qālū subḥānaka mā kāna yanbaghī lanā an nnattakhidha min dūnika min awliyāʾa wa‑lākin mattaʿtahum wa‑ābāahum ḥattā nasū l‑dhikrā wa‑kānū qawman būran | They will say: "Glory to Thee! not meet was it for us that we
should take for protectors others besides Thee: But Thou didst bestow, on
them and their fathers, good things (in life), until they forgot the
Message: for they were a people (worthless and) lost."
Sura al-Furqān 25:18 قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَٰنَكَ مَا كَانَ يَنۢبَغِى لَنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ مِن دُونِكَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَٰكِن مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَسُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا qālū subḥānaka mā kāna yanbaghī lanā an nnattakhidha min dūnika min awliyāʾa wa-lākin mattaʿtahum wa-ābāahum ḥattā nasū l-dhikrā wa-kānū qawman būran They will say: "Glory to Thee! not meet was it for us that we should take for protectors others besides Thee: But Thou didst bestow, on them and their fathers, good things (in life), until they forgot the Message: for they were a people (worthless and) lost." |
(26:211) | وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ | wa‑mā yanbaghī lahum wa‑mā yastaṭīʿūna | It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce
it).
Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:211 وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ wa-mā yanbaghī lahum wa-mā yastaṭīʿūna It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). |
(36:40) | لَا ٱلشَّمْسُ يَنۢبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تُدْرِكَ ٱلْقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّيْلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَكُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ | lā l‑shamsu yanbaghī lahā an tudrika l‑qamara wa‑lā l‑laylu sābiqu l‑nahāri wa‑kullun fī falakin yasbaḥūna | It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can
the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit
(according to Law).
Sura Yā Sin 36:40 لَا ٱلشَّمْسُ يَنۢبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تُدْرِكَ ٱلْقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّيْلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَكُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ lā l-shamsu yanbaghī lahā an tudrika l-qamara wa-lā l-laylu sābiqu l-nahāri wa-kullun fī falakin yasbaḥūna It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law). |
(36:69) | وَمَا عَلَّمْنَٰهُ ٱلشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُۥٓ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْءَانٌ مُّبِينٌ | wa‑mā ʿallamnāhu l‑shiʿra wa‑mā yanbaghī lahu in huwa illā dhikrun wa‑qurānun mubīnun | We have not instructed the (Prophet) in Poetry, nor is it meet
for him: this is no less than a Message and a Qur'an making things clear:
Sura Yā Sin 36:69 وَمَا عَلَّمْنَٰهُ ٱلشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُۥٓ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْءَانٌ مُّبِينٌ wa-mā ʿallamnāhu l-shiʿra wa-mā yanbaghī lahu in huwa illā dhikrun wa-qurānun mubīnun We have not instructed the (Prophet) in Poetry, nor is it meet for him: this is no less than a Message and a Qur'an making things clear: |
(38:35) | قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ | qalā rabbi aghfir lī wa‑hab lī mulkan lā yanbaghī li‑aḥadin min baʿdī innaka anta l‑wahhābu | He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which,
(it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of
Bounties (without measure).
Sura Ṣād 38:35 قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ qalā rabbi aghfir lī wa-hab lī mulkan lā yanbaghī li-aḥadin min baʿdī innaka anta l-wahhābu He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure). |
