(2:17) | مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّآ أَضَآءَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُۥ ذَهَبَ ٱللَّـهُ بِنُورِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِى ظُلُمَٰتٍ لَّا يُبْصِرُونَ | mathaluhum ka‑mathali alladhī istawqada nāran fa‑lammā aḍāʾat mā ḥawlahu dhahaba allāhu binūrihim wa‑tarakahum fī ẓulumātin lā yubṣirūna | Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it
lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in utter
darkness. So they could not see.
Sura al-Baqara 2:17 مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّآ أَضَآءَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُۥ ذَهَبَ ٱللَّـهُ بِنُورِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِى ظُلُمَٰتٍ لَّا يُبْصِرُونَ mathaluhum ka-mathali alladhī istawqada nāran fa-lammā aḍāʾat mā ḥawlahu dhahaba allāhu binūrihim wa-tarakahum fī ẓulumātin lā yubṣirūna Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in utter darkness. So they could not see. |
(2:180) | كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ إِن تَرَكَ خَيْرًا ٱلْوَصِيَّةُ لِلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ حَقًّا عَلَى ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ | kutiba ʿalaykum idhā ḥaḍara aḥadakumu l‑mawtu in taraka khayran l‑waṣīyatu lil‑wālidayni wa‑l‑aqrabīna bil‑maʿrūfi ḥaqqan ʿalā l‑muttaqīna | It is prescribed, when death approaches any of you, if he
leave any goods that he make a bequest to parents and next of kin,
according to reasonable usage; this is due from the Allah-fearing.
Sura al-Baqara 2:180 كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ إِن تَرَكَ خَيْرًا ٱلْوَصِيَّةُ لِلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ حَقًّا عَلَى ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ kutiba ʿalaykum idhā ḥaḍara aḥadakumu l-mawtu in taraka khayran l-waṣīyatu lil-wālidayni wa-l-aqrabīna bil-maʿrūfi ḥaqqan ʿalā l-muttaqīna It is prescribed, when death approaches any of you, if he leave any goods that he make a bequest to parents and next of kin, according to reasonable usage; this is due from the Allah-fearing. |
(2:248) | وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ءَايَةَ مُلْكِهِۦٓ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلتَّابُوتُ فِيهِ سَكِينَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ءَالُ مُوسَىٰ وَءَالُ هَٰرُونَ تَحْمِلُهُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ | wa‑qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna āyata mulkihi an yaʾtiyakumu l‑tābūtu fīhi sakīnatun min rabbikum wa‑baqīyatun mimmā taraka ālu mūsā wa‑ālu hārūna taḥmiluhu l‑malāʾikatu inna fī dhālika la‑āyatan la‑kum in kuntum muʾminīna | And (further) their Prophet said to them: "A Sign of his
authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an
assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the
family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a
symbol for you if ye indeed have faith."
Sura al-Baqara 2:248 وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ءَايَةَ مُلْكِهِۦٓ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلتَّابُوتُ فِيهِ سَكِينَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ءَالُ مُوسَىٰ وَءَالُ هَٰرُونَ تَحْمِلُهُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ wa-qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna āyata mulkihi an yaʾtiyakumu l-tābūtu fīhi sakīnatun min rabbikum wa-baqīyatun mimmā taraka ālu mūsā wa-ālu hārūna taḥmiluhu l-malāʾikatu inna fī dhālika la-āyatan la-kum in kuntum muʾminīna And (further) their Prophet said to them: "A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. (2:264) | يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُبْطِلُوا۟ صَدَقَٰتِكُم بِٱلْمَنِّ وَٱلْأَذَىٰ كَٱلَّذِى يُنفِقُ مَالَهُۥ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّـهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ صَفْوَانٍ عَلَيْهِ تُرَابٌ فَأَصَابَهُۥ وَابِلٌ فَتَرَكَهُۥ صَلْدًا لَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ مِّمَّا كَسَبُوا۟ وَٱللَّـهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ | yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tubṭilū ṣadaqātikum bil‑manni wa‑l‑adha ka‑lladhī yunfiqu mālahu riʾāʾa l‑nāsi wa‑lā yuʾminū billāhi wa‑l‑yawmi l‑akhiri fa‑mathaluhu ka‑mathali ṣafwānin ʿalayhi turābun fa‑aṣābahu wābilun fa‑tarakahu ṣaldan lā yaqdirūna ʿalā shayʾin mimmā kasabū wallāhu lā yahdī l‑qawma l‑kāfirīna | O ye who believe! cancel not your charity by reminders of your
generosity or by injury,- like those who spend their substance to be seen
of men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day. They are in parable
like a hard, barren rock, on which is a little soil: on it falls heavy
rain, which leaves it (Just) a bare stone. They will be able to do nothing
with aught they have earned. And Allah guideth not those who reject faith.
Sura al-Baqara 2:264 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُبْطِلُوا۟ صَدَقَٰتِكُم بِٱلْمَنِّ وَٱلْأَذَىٰ كَٱلَّذِى يُنفِقُ مَالَهُۥ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّـهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ صَفْوَانٍ عَلَيْهِ تُرَابٌ فَأَصَابَهُۥ وَابِلٌ فَتَرَكَهُۥ صَلْدًا لَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ مِّمَّا كَسَبُوا۟ وَٱللَّـهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tubṭilū ṣadaqātikum bil-manni wa-l-adha ka-lladhī yunfiqu mālahu riʾāʾa l-nāsi wa-lā yuʾminū billāhi wa-l-yawmi l-akhiri fa-mathaluhu ka-mathali ṣafwānin ʿalayhi turābun fa-aṣābahu wābilun fa-tarakahu ṣaldan lā yaqdirūna ʿalā shayʾin mimmā kasabū wallāhu lā yahdī l-qawma l-kāfirīna O ye who believe! cancel not your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury,- like those who spend their substance to be seen of men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day. (4:7) | لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا | lil‑rijāli naṣībun mimmā taraka l‑wālidāni wa‑l‑aqrabūna wa‑lil‑nisāʾi naṣībun mimmā taraka l‑wālidāni wa‑l‑aqrabūna mimmā qalla minhu aw kathura naṣīban mafrūḍan | From what is left by parents and those nearest related there
is a share for men and a share for women, whether the property be small or
large,-a determinate share.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:7 لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا lil-rijāli naṣībun mimmā taraka l-wālidāni wa-l-aqrabūna wa-lil-nisāʾi naṣībun mimmā taraka l-wālidāni wa-l-aqrabūna mimmā qalla minhu aw kathura naṣīban mafrūḍan From what is left by parents and those nearest related there is a share for men and a share for women, whether the property be small or large,-a determinate share. |
(4:9) | وَلْيَخْشَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَٰفًا خَافُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلْيَتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا | wa‑l‑yakhsha lladhīna law tarakū min khalfihim dhurriyyatan ḍiʿāfan khāfū ʿalayhim fa‑l‑yattaqū allāha wa‑l‑yaqūlū qawlan sadīdan | Let those (disposing of an estate) have the same fear in their
minds as they would have for their own if they had left a helpless family
behind: Let them fear Allah, and speak words of appropriate (comfort).
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:9 وَلْيَخْشَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَٰفًا خَافُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلْيَتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا wa-l-yakhsha lladhīna law tarakū min khalfihim dhurriyyatan ḍiʿāfan khāfū ʿalayhim fa-l-yattaqū allāha wa-l-yaqūlū qawlan sadīdan Let those (disposing of an estate) have the same fear in their minds as they would have for their own if they had left a helpless family behind: Let them fear Allah, and speak words of appropriate (comfort). |
(4:11) | يُوصِيكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ فِىٓ أَوْلَٰدِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَآءً فَوْقَ ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ وَإِن كَانَتْ وَٰحِدَةً فَلَهَا ٱلنِّصْفُ وَلِأَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلثُّلُثُ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلسُّدُسُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِى بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعًا فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا | yūṣīkumu allāhu fī awlādikum lil‑dhakari mithlu ḥaẓẓi l‑unthayayni fa‑in kunna nisāʾan fawqa ithnatayni fa‑la‑hunna thuluthā mā taraka wa‑in kānat wāḥidatan fa‑lahā l‑niṣfu wa‑li‑abawayhi li‑kulli wāḥidin minhumā l‑sudusu mimmā taraka in kāna lahu waladun fa‑in lam yakun lahu waladun wa‑warithahu abawāhu fa‑li‑ummihi l‑thuluthu fa‑in kāna lahu ikhwatun fa‑li‑ummihi l‑sudusu min baʿdi waṣīyatin yūṣī bihā aw daynin ābāʾukum wa‑abnāʾukum lā tadrūna ayyuhum aqrabu la‑kum nafʿan farīḍatan mina allāhi inna allāha kāna ʿalīman ḥakīman | Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's
(Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only
daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if
only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of the
inheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the
parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased Left
brothers (or sisters) the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all
cases ('s) after the payment of legacies and debts. Ye know not whether
your parents or your children are nearest to you in benefit. These are
settled portions ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Al-wise.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:11 يُوصِيكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ فِىٓ أَوْلَٰدِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَآءً فَوْقَ ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ وَإِن كَانَتْ وَٰحِدَةً فَلَهَا ٱلنِّصْفُ وَلِأَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلثُّلُثُ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلسُّدُسُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِى بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعًا فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا yūṣīkumu allāhu fī awlādikum lil-dhakari mithlu ḥaẓẓi l-unthayayni fa-in kunna nisāʾan fawqa ithnatayni fa-la-hunna thuluthā mā taraka wa-in kānat wāḥidatan fa-lahā l-niṣfu wa-li-abawayhi li-kulli wāḥidin minhumā l-sudusu mimmā taraka in kāna lahu waladun fa-in lam yakun lahu waladun wa-warithahu abawāhu fa-li-ummihi l-thuluthu fa-in kāna lahu ikhwatun fa-li-ummihi l-sudusu min baʿdi waṣīyatin yūṣī bihā aw daynin ābāʾukum wa-abnāʾukum lā tadrūna ayyuhum aqrabu la-kum nafʿan farīḍatan mina allāhi inna allāha kāna ʿalīman ḥakīman Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. (4:12) | وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَٰجُكُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِينَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ وَلَهُنَّ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ ٱلثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَٰلَةً أَوِ ٱمْرَأَةٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ فَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فِى ٱلثُّلُثِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَىٰ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ مُضَآرٍّ وَصِيَّةً مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌ | wa‑lakum niṣfu mā taraka azwājukum in lam yakun lahunna waladun fa‑in kāna la‑hunna waladun falakumu l‑rubuʿu mimmā tarakna min baʿdi waṣīyatin yūṣīna bihā aw daynin wa‑lahunna l‑rubuʿu mimmā taraktum in lam yakun la‑kum waladun fa‑in kāna la‑kum waladun fa‑la‑hunna l‑thumunu mimmā taraktum min baʿdi waṣīyatin tūṣūna bihā aw daynin wa‑in kāna rajulun yūrathu kalālatan awi imraʾatun wa‑lahu akhun aw ukhtun falikulli wāḥidin minhumā l‑sudusu fa‑in kānū akthara min dhālika fa‑hum shurakāʾu fī l‑thuluthi min baʿdi waṣīyatin yūṣa bihā aw daynin ghayra muḍārrin waṣīyatan mina allāhi wallāhu ʿalīmun ḥalīmun | In what your wives leave, your share is a half, if they leave
no child; but if they leave a child, ye get a fourth; after payment of
legacies and debts. In what ye leave, their share is a fourth, if ye leave
no child; but if ye leave a child, they get an eighth; after payment of
legacies and debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question,
has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a
sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share
in a third; after payment of legacies and debts; so that no loss is caused
(to any one). Thus is it ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Most
Forbearing.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:12 وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَٰجُكُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِينَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ وَلَهُنَّ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ ٱلثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَٰلَةً أَوِ ٱمْرَأَةٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ فَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فِى ٱلثُّلُثِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَىٰ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ مُضَآرٍّ وَصِيَّةً مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌ wa-lakum niṣfu mā taraka azwājukum in lam yakun lahunna waladun fa-in kāna la-hunna waladun falakumu l-rubuʿu mimmā tarakna min baʿdi waṣīyatin yūṣīna bihā aw daynin wa-lahunna l-rubuʿu mimmā taraktum in lam yakun la-kum waladun fa-in kāna la-kum waladun fa-la-hunna l-thumunu mimmā taraktum min baʿdi waṣīyatin tūṣūna bihā aw daynin wa-in kāna rajulun yūrathu kalālatan awi imraʾatun wa-lahu akhun aw ukhtun falikulli wāḥidin minhumā l-sudusu fa-in kānū akthara min dhālika fa-hum shurakāʾu fī l-thuluthi min baʿdi waṣīyatin yūṣa bihā aw daynin ghayra muḍārrin waṣīyatan mina allāhi wallāhu ʿalīmun ḥalīmun In what your wives leave, your share is a half, if they leave no child; but if they leave a child, ye get a fourth; after payment of legacies and debts. (4:33) | وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَٰلِىَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ فَـَٔاتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدًا | wa‑li‑kullin jaʿalnā mawāliya mimmā taraka l‑wālidāni wa‑l‑aqrabūna wa‑lladhīna ʿaqadat aymānukum fa‑ātūhum naṣībahum inna allāha kāna ʿalā kulli shayʾin shahīdan | To (benefit) every one, We have appointed shares and heirs to
property left by parents and relatives. To those, also, to whom your right
hand was pledged, give their due portion. For truly Allah is witness to all
things.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:33 وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَٰلِىَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ فَـَٔاتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدًا wa-li-kullin jaʿalnā mawāliya mimmā taraka l-wālidāni wa-l-aqrabūna wa-lladhīna ʿaqadat aymānukum fa-ātūhum naṣībahum inna allāha kāna ʿalā kulli shayʾin shahīdan To (benefit) every one, We have appointed shares and heirs to property left by parents and relatives. To those, also, to whom your right hand was pledged, give their due portion. For truly Allah is witness to all things. |
(4:176) | يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلِ ٱللَّـهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِى ٱلْكَلَٰلَةِ إِنِ ٱمْرُؤٌا۟ هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَآ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهَا وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَتَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا ٱلثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَ وَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَةً رِّجَالًا وَنِسَآءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمْ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ وَٱللَّـهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ | yastaftūnaka quli allāhu yuftīkum fī l‑kalālati ini imrūʾun halaka laysa lahu waladun wa‑lahu ukhtun fa‑lahā niṣfu mā taraka wa‑huwa yarithuhā in lam yakun llahā waladun fa‑in kānatā ithnatayni falahumā l‑thuluthāni mimmā taraka wa‑in kānū ikhwatan rrijālan wa‑nisāan fa‑lil‑dhakari mithlu ḥaẓẓi l‑unthayayni yubayyinu allāhu la‑kum an taḍillū wallāhu bi‑kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun | They ask thee for a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus)
about those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs. If it is a man
that dies, leaving a sister but no child, she shall have half the
inheritance: If (such a deceased was) a woman, who left no child, Her
brother takes her inheritance: If there are two sisters, they shall have
two-thirds of the inheritance (between them): if there are brothers and
sisters, (they share), the male having twice the share of the female. Thus
doth Allah make clear to you (His law), lest ye err. And Allah hath knowledge
of all things.

(6:94) | وَلَقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا فُرَٰدَىٰ كَمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَتَرَكْتُم مَّا خَوَّلْنَٰكُمْ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِكُمْ وَمَا نَرَىٰ مَعَكُمْ شُفَعَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّهُمْ فِيكُمْ شُرَكَٰٓؤُا۟ لَقَد تَّقَطَّعَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنكُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ | wa‑la‑qad jiʾtumūnā furāda ka‑mā khalaqnākum awwala marratin wa‑taraktum mā khawwalnākum wa‑rāʾa ẓuhūrikum wa‑mā narā maʿakum shufaʿāʾakumu lladhīna zaʿamtum annahum fīkum shurakāʾu laqad taqaṭṭaʿa baynakum wa‑ḍalla ʿankum mā kuntum tazʿumūna | "And behold! ye come to us bare and alone as We created you
for the first time: ye have left behind you all (the favours) which We
bestowed on you: We see not with you your intercessors whom ye thought to
be partners in your affairs: so now all relations between you have been cut
off, and your (pet) fancies have left you in the lurch!"
Sura al-Anʿām 6:94 وَلَقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا فُرَٰدَىٰ كَمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَتَرَكْتُم مَّا خَوَّلْنَٰكُمْ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِكُمْ وَمَا نَرَىٰ مَعَكُمْ شُفَعَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّهُمْ فِيكُمْ شُرَكَٰٓؤُا۟ لَقَد تَّقَطَّعَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنكُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ wa-la-qad jiʾtumūnā furāda ka-mā khalaqnākum awwala marratin wa-taraktum mā khawwalnākum wa-rāʾa ẓuhūrikum wa-mā narā maʿakum shufaʿāʾakumu lladhīna zaʿamtum annahum fīkum shurakāʾu laqad taqaṭṭaʿa baynakum wa-ḍalla ʿankum mā kuntum tazʿumūna "And behold! ye come to us bare and alone as We created you for the first time: ye have left behind you all (the favours) which We bestowed on you: We see not with you your intercessors whom ye thought to be partners in your affairs: so now all relations between you have been cut off, and your (pet) fancies have left you in the lurch!" |
(7:176) | وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَٰهُ بِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ ٱلْكَلْبِ إِن تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَث ذَّٰلِكَ مَثَلُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَٱقْصُصِ ٱلْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ | wa‑law shiʾnā la‑rafaʿnāhu bihā wa‑lā‑kinnahu akhlada ilā l‑arḍi wa‑ittabaʿa hawahu fa‑mathaluhu ka‑mathali l‑kalbi in taḥmil ʿalayhi yalhath aw tatrukhu yalhath dhālika mathalu l‑qawmi lladhīna kadhdhabū bi‑āyātinā fa‑iqṣuṣi l‑qaṣaṣa la‑ʿallahum yatafakkarūna | If it had been Our will, We should have elevated him with Our
signs; but he inclined to the earth, and followed his own vain desires. His
similitude is that of a dog: if you attack him, he lolls out his tongue, or
if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls out his tongue. That is the
similitude of those who reject Our signs; So relate the story; perchance
they may reflect.
Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:176 وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَٰهُ بِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ ٱلْكَلْبِ إِن تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَث ذَّٰلِكَ مَثَلُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَٱقْصُصِ ٱلْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ wa-law shiʾnā la-rafaʿnāhu bihā wa-lā-kinnahu akhlada ilā l-arḍi wa-ittabaʿa hawahu fa-mathaluhu ka-mathali l-kalbi in taḥmil ʿalayhi yalhath aw tatrukhu yalhath dhālika mathalu l-qawmi lladhīna kadhdhabū bi-āyātinā fa-iqṣuṣi l-qaṣaṣa la-ʿallahum yatafakkarūna If it had been Our will, We should have elevated him with Our signs; but he inclined to the earth, and followed his own vain desires. (9:16) | أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُوا۟ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَا رَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةً وَٱللَّـهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ | am ḥasibtum an tutrakū wa‑lammā yaʿlami allāhu lladhīna jāhadū minkum wa‑lam yattakhidhū min dūni allāhi wa‑lā rasūlihi wa‑lā l‑muʾminīna walījatan wallāhu khabīrun bi‑mā taʿmalūna | Or think ye that ye shall be abandoned, as though Allah did not
know those among you who strive with might and main, and take none for
friends and protectors except Allah, His Messenger, and the (community of)
Believers? But Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do.
Sura al-Tawbah 9:16 أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُوا۟ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَا رَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةً وَٱللَّـهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ am ḥasibtum an tutrakū wa-lammā yaʿlami allāhu lladhīna jāhadū minkum wa-lam yattakhidhū min dūni allāhi wa-lā rasūlihi wa-lā l-muʾminīna walījatan wallāhu khabīrun bi-mā taʿmalūna Or think ye that ye shall be abandoned, as though Allah did not know those among you who strive with might and main, and take none for friends and protectors except Allah, His Messenger, and the (community of) Believers? But Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do. |
(16:61) | وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ | wa‑law yuākhidhu allāhu l‑nāsa biẓulmihim mā taraka ʿalayhā min dābbatin wa‑lākin yuʾakhkhiruhum ila ajalin musamman fa‑idhā jāa ajaluhum lā yastaʾkhirūna sāʿatan wa‑lā yastaqdimūna | If Allah were to punish men for their wrong-doing, He would not
leave, on the (earth), a single living creature: but He gives them respite
for a stated Term: When their Term expires, they would not be able to delay
(the punishment) for a single hour, just as they would not be able to
anticipate it (for a single hour).
Sura al-Naḥl 16:61 وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ wa-law yuākhidhu allāhu l-nāsa biẓulmihim mā taraka ʿalayhā min dābbatin wa-lākin yuʾakhkhiruhum ila ajalin musamman fa-idhā jāa ajaluhum lā yastaʾkhirūna sāʿatan wa-lā yastaqdimūna If Allah were to punish men for their wrong-doing, He would not leave, on the (earth), a single living creature: but He gives them respite for a stated Term: When their Term expires, they would not be able to delay (the punishment) for a single hour, just as they would not be able to anticipate it (for a single hour). |
(26:146) | أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ | atutrakūna fī mā hāhunā āminīna | "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye
have here?-
Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:146 أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ atutrakūna fī mā hāhunā āminīna "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here?- |
(29:2) | أَحَسِبَ ٱلنَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوٓا۟ أَن يَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ | aḥasiba l‑nāsu an yutrakū an yaqūlū āmannā wa‑hum lā yuftanūna | Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We
believe", and that they will not be tested?
Sura al-ʿAnkabūt 29:2 أَحَسِبَ ٱلنَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوٓا۟ أَن يَقُولُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ aḥasiba l-nāsu an yutrakū an yaqūlū āmannā wa-hum lā yuftanūna Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? |
(35:45) | وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ بَصِيرًۢا | wa‑law yuākhidhu allāhu l‑nāsa bi‑mā kasabū mā taraka ʿalā ẓahrihā min dābbatin wa‑lākin yuʾakhkhiruhum ila ajalin musamman fa‑idhā jāa ajaluhum fa‑inna allāha kāna bi‑ʿabādihi baṣīran | If Allah were to punish men according to what they deserve. He
would not leave on the back of the (earth) a single living creature: but He
gives them respite for a stated Term: when their Term expires, verily Allah
has in His sight all His Servants.
Sura al-Faṭīr 35:45 وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ بَصِيرًۢا wa-law yuākhidhu allāhu l-nāsa bi-mā kasabū mā taraka ʿalā ẓahrihā min dābbatin wa-lākin yuʾakhkhiruhum ila ajalin musamman fa-idhā jāa ajaluhum fa-inna allāha kāna bi-ʿabādihi baṣīran If Allah were to punish men according to what they deserve. He would not leave on the back of the (earth) a single living creature: but He gives them respite for a stated Term: when their Term expires, verily Allah has in His sight all His Servants. |
(44:24) | وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ | wa‑itruki l‑baḥra rahwan innahum jundun mughraqūna | "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host
(destined) to be drowned."
Sura al-Dukhān 44:24 وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ wa-itruki l-baḥra rahwan innahum jundun mughraqūna "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned." |
(44:25) | كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ | kam tarakū min jannātin wa‑ʿuyūnin | How many were the gardens and springs they left behind,
Sura al-Dukhān 44:25 كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ kam tarakū min jannātin wa-ʿuyūnin How many were the gardens and springs they left behind, |
(59:5) | مَا قَطَعْتُم مِّن لِّينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَآئِمَةً عَلَىٰٓ أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلِيُخْزِىَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ | mā qaṭaʿtum min llīnatin aw taraktumūhā qāʾimatan ʿala uṣūlihā fabiidhni allāhi wa‑līukhzīa l‑fāsiqīna | Whether ye cut down (O ye Muslim!) The tender palm-trees, or
ye left them standing on their roots, it was by leave of Allah, and in order
that He might cover with shame the rebellious transgresses.
Sura al-Ḥashr 59:5 مَا قَطَعْتُم مِّن لِّينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَآئِمَةً عَلَىٰٓ أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلِيُخْزِىَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ mā qaṭaʿtum min llīnatin aw taraktumūhā qāʾimatan ʿala uṣūlihā fabiidhni allāhi wa-līukhzīa l-fāsiqīna Whether ye cut down (O ye Muslim!) The tender palm-trees, or ye left them standing on their roots, it was by leave of Allah, and in order that He might cover with shame the rebellious transgresses. |
(62:11) | وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ تِجَٰرَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَآئِمًا قُلْ مَا عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ ٱلتِّجَٰرَةِ وَٱللَّـهُ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ | wa‑idhā raʾaw tijāratan aw lahwan infaḍḍū ilayhā wa‑tarakūka qāʾiman qul mā ʿinda allāhi khayrun mina l‑lahwi wa‑mina l‑tijārati wallāhu khayru l‑rāziqīna | But when they see some bargain or some amusement, they
disperse headlong to it, and leave thee standing. Say: "The (blessing) from
the Presence of Allah is better than any amusement or bargain! and Allah is the
Best to provide (for all needs)."
Sura al-Jumuʿah 62:11 وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ تِجَٰرَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَآئِمًا قُلْ مَا عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ ٱلتِّجَٰرَةِ وَٱللَّـهُ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ wa-idhā raʾaw tijāratan aw lahwan infaḍḍū ilayhā wa-tarakūka qāʾiman qul mā ʿinda allāhi khayrun mina l-lahwi wa-mina l-tijārati wallāhu khayru l-rāziqīna But when they see some bargain or some amusement, they disperse headlong to it, and leave thee standing. Say: "The (blessing) from the Presence of Allah is better than any amusement or bargain! and Allah is the Best to provide (for all needs)." |
(75:36) | أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى | a‑yaḥsabu l‑insānu an yutraka sudan | Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without
purpose)?
Sura al-Qiyāmah 75:36 أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى a-yaḥsabu l-insānu an yutraka sudan Does man think that he will be left uncontrolled, (without purpose)? |
