Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:62

فَكَيْفَ إِذَآ أَصَٰبَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ جَآءُوكَ يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْسَٰنًا وَتَوْفِيقًا

fa-kayfa idhā aṣābathum muṣībatun bi-mā qaddamat aydīhim thumma jāʾūka yaḥlifūna billāhi in aradnā illā iḥsānan wa-tawfīqan

How then, when they are seized by misfortune, because of the deeds which they hands have sent forth? Then their come to thee, swearing by Allah: "We meant no more than good-will and conciliation!"

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:89

لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ بِٱللَّغْوِ فِىٓ أَيْمَٰنِكُمْ وَلَٰكِن يُؤَاخِذُكُم بِمَا عَقَّدتُّمُ ٱلْأَيْمَٰنَ فَكَفَّٰرَتُهُۥٓ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَٰكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلَٰثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ذَٰلِكَ كَفَّٰرَةُ أَيْمَٰنِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ وَٱحْفَظُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

lā yuʾākhidhukumu allāhu bil-laghwi fī aymānikum wa-lākin yuākhidhukum bi-mā ʿaqqadttumu l-aymāna fakaffāratuhu iṭʿāmu ʿasharati masākīna min awsaṭi mā tuṭʿimūna ahlīkum aw kiswatuhum aw taḥrīru raqabatin fa-man lam yajid fa-ṣiyāmu thalāthati ayyāmin dhālika kaffāratu aymānikum idhā ḥalaftum waḥfaẓū aymānakum ka-dhālika yubayyinu allāhu la-kum āyātihi la-ʿallakum tashkurūna

Allah will not call you to account for what is futile in your oaths, but He will call you to account for your deliberate oaths: for expiation, feed ten indigent persons, on a scale of the average for the food of your families; or clothe them; or give a slave his freedom. If that is beyond your means, fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths ye have sworn. But keep to your oaths. Thus doth Allah make clear to you His signs, that ye may be grateful.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:42

لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لَّٱتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَٰكِنۢ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشُّقَّةُ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ لَوِ ٱسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

law kāna ʿaraḍan qarīban wa-safaran qāṣidan llattabaʿūka wa-lākin baʿudat ʿalayhimu l-shuqqatu wa-sa-yaḥlifūna billāhi lawi staṭaʿnā lakharajnā maʿakum yuhlikūna anfusahum wallāhu yaʿlamu innahum la-kādhibūna

If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them. They would indeed swear by Allah, "If we only could, we should certainly have come out with you": They would destroy their own souls; for Allah doth know that they are certainly lying.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:56

وَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ يَفْرَقُونَ

wa-yaḥlifūna billāhi innahum laminkum wa-mā hum minkum wa-lākinnahum qawmun yafraqūna

They swear by Allah that they are indeed of you; but they are not of you: yet they are afraid (to appear in their true colours).

Sura al-Tawbah 9:62

يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ لَكُمْ لِيُرْضُوكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ أَحَقُّ أَن يُرْضُوهُ إِن كَانُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ

yaḥlifūna billāhi la-kum li-yurḍūkum wallāhu wa-rasūluhu aḥaqqu an yurḍūhu in kānū muminīna

To you they swear by Allah. In order to please you: But it is more fitting that they should please Allah and His Messenger, if they are Believers.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:74

يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّـهِ مَا قَالُوا۟ وَلَقَدْ قَالُوا۟ كَلِمَةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِسْلَٰمِهِمْ وَهَمُّوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا۟ وَمَا نَقَمُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَنْ أَغْنَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ فَإِن يَتُوبُوا۟ يَكُ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَإِن يَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

yaḥlifūna billahi mā qālū wa-la-qad qālū kalimata l-kufri wa-kafarū baʿda islāmihim wa-hammū bi-mā lam yanālū wa-mā naqamū illā an aghnahumu allāhu wa-rasūluhu min faḍlihi fa-in yatūbū yaku khayran lahum wa-in yatawallaw yuʿadhdhibhumu allāhu ʿadhāban alīman fī l-dunyā wa-l-akhirati wa-mā lahum fī l-arḍi min waliyyin wa-lā naṣīrin

They swear by Allah that they said nothing (evil), but indeed they uttered blasphemy, and they did it after accepting Islam; and they meditated a plot which they were unable to carry out: this revenge of theirs was (their) only return for the bounty with which Allah and His Messenger had enriched them! If they repent, it will be best for them; but if they turn back (to their evil ways), Allah will punish them with a grievous penalty in this life and in the Hereafter: They shall have none on earth to protect or help them.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:95

سَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ لَكُمْ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لِتُعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

sa-yaḥlifūna billāhi la-kum idhā inqalabtum ilayhim li-tuʿriḍū ʿanhum fa-aʿriḍū ʿanhum innahum rijsun wa-maʾwāhum jahannamu jazāʾan bi-mā kānū yaksibūna

They will swear to you by Allah, when ye return to them, that ye may leave them alone. So leave them alone: For they are an abomination, and Hell is their dwelling-place,-a fitting recompense for the (evil) that they did.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:96

يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْا۟ عَنْهُمْ فَإِن تَرْضَوْا۟ عَنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يَرْضَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

yaḥlifūna la-kum litarḍaw ʿanhum fa-in tarḍaw ʿanhum fa-inna allāha lā yarḍā ʿani l-qawmi l-fāsiqīna

They will swear unto you, that ye may be pleased with them but if ye are pleased with them, Allah is not pleased with those who disobey.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:107

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مَسْجِدًا ضِرَارًا وَكُفْرًا وَتَفْرِيقًۢا بَيْنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَإِرْصَادًا لِّمَنْ حَارَبَ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَيَحْلِفُنَّ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَٱللَّـهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

wa-lladhīna ittakhadhū masjidan ḍirāran wa-kufran wa-tafrīqan bayna l-muʾminīna wa-irṣādan li-man ḥāraba allāha wa-rasūlahu min qablu wa-la-yaḥlifunna in aradnā illā l-ḥusnā wallāhu yashhadu innahum la-kādhibūna

And there are those who put up a mosque by way of mischief and infidelity - to disunite the Believers - and in preparation for one who warred against Allah and His Messenger aforetime. They will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good; But Allah doth declare that they are certainly liars.

Sura al-Mujādilah 58:14

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا۟ قَوْمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَا مِنْهُمْ وَيَحْلِفُونَ عَلَى ٱلْكَذِبِ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

a-lam tara ilā lladhīna tawallaw qawman ghaḍiba allāhu ʿalayhim mā hum minkum wa-lā minhum wa-yaḥlifūna ʿalā l-kadhibi wa-hum yaʿlamūna

Turnest thou not thy attention to those who turn (in friendship) to such as have the Wrath of Allah upon them? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to falsehood knowingly.

Sura al-Mujādilah 58:18

يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ جَمِيعًا فَيَحْلِفُونَ لَهُۥ كَمَا يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَ

yawma yabʿathuhumu allāhu jamīʿan fayaḥlifūna lahu ka-mā yaḥlifūna la-kum wa-yaḥsabūna annahum ʿalā shayʾin āla innahum humu l-kādhibūna

One day will Allah raise them all up (for Judgment): then will they swear to Him as they swear to you: And they think that they have something (to stand upon). No, indeed! they are but liars!
