Sura al-Anʿām 6:10

وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

walaqadi ustuhziʾa birusulin min qablika fa-ḥāqa bi-lladhīna sakhirū minhum mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

Mocked were (many) messengers before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.

Sura Hūd 11:8

وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ مَّعْدُودَةٍ لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُۥٓ أَلَا يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوفًا عَنْهُمْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

wa-lain akhkharnā ʿanhumu l-ʿadhāba ila ummatin maʿdūdatin llayaqūlunna mā yaḥbisuhu āla yawma yaʾtīhim laysa maṣrūfan ʿanhum wa-ḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

If We delay the penalty for them for a definite term, they are sure to say, "What keeps it back?" Ah! On the day it (actually) reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

Sura al-Naḥl 16:34

فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

fa-aṣābahum sayyiʾātu mā ʿamilū wa-ḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

But the evil results of their deeds overtook them, and that very (Wrath) at which they had scoffed hemmed them in.

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:41

وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

wa-la-qadi ustuhziʾa birusulin min qablika fa-ḥāqa bi-lladhīna sakhirū minhum mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

Mocked were (many) messenger before thee; But their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:43

ٱسْتِكْبَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ ٱلسَّيِّئِ وَلَا يَحِيقُ ٱلْمَكْرُ ٱلسَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِۦ فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّـهِ تَبْدِيلًا وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّـهِ تَحْوِيلًا

istikbāran fī l-arḍi wa-makra l-sayyiʾi wa-lā yaḥīqu l-makru l-sayyiʾu illā biahlihi fa-hal yanẓurūna illā sunnata l-awwalīna fa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi tabdīlan wa-lan tajida li-sunnati allāhi taḥwīlan

On account of their arrogance in the land and their plotting of Evil, but the plotting of Evil will hem in only the authors thereof. Now are they but looking for the way the ancients were dealt with? But no change wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing): no turning off wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing).

Sura al-Zumar 39:48

وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

wa-badā lahum sayyiʾātu mā kasabū wa-ḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

For the evils of their Deeds will confront them, and they will be (completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at!

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:45

فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّـهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ

fa-waqāhu allāhu sayyiāti mā makarū wa-ḥāqa bi-āli firʿawna sūu l-ʿadhābi

Then Allah saved him from (every) ill that they plotted (against him), but the burnt of the Penalty encompassed on all sides the People of Pharaoh.

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:83

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

fa-lammā jāʾathum rusuluhum bil-bayyināti fariḥū bi-mā ʿindahum mina l-ʿilmi wa-ḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

For when their messengers came to them with Clear Signs, they exulted in such knowledge (and skill) as they had; but that very (Wrath) at which they were wont to scoff hemmed them in.

Sura al-Jāthiyah 45:33

وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

wa-badā lahum sayyiʾātu mā ʿamilū wa-ḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

Then will appear to them the evil (fruits) of what they did, and they will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

Sura al-Aḥqāf 46:26

وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّٰهُمْ فِيمَآ إِن مَّكَّنَّٰكُمْ فِيهِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعًا وَأَبْصَٰرًا وَأَفْـِٔدَةً فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَلَآ أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ وَلَآ أَفْـِٔدَتُهُم مِّن شَىْءٍ إِذْ كَانُوا۟ يَجْحَدُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

wa-la-qad makkannāhum fīmā in makkannākum fīhi wa-jaʿalnā lahum samʿan wa-abṣāran wa-afʾidatan fa-mā aghnā ʿanhum samʿuhum wa-lā abṣāruhum wa-lā afʾidatuhum min shayʾin idh kānū yajḥadūna bi-āyāti allāhi wa-ḥāqa bihim mā kānū bihi yastahziʾūna

And We had firmly established them in a (prosperity and) power which We have not given to you (ye Quraish!) and We had endowed them with (faculties of) hearing, seeing, heart and intellect: but of no profit to them were their (faculties of) hearing, sight, and heart and intellect, when they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah; and they were (completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at!
