Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:119

وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا

wa-la-uḍillannahum wa-la-umanniyannahum wa-la-āmurannahum fa-la-yubattikunna ādhāna l-anʿāmi wa-la-āmurannahum fa-la-yughayyirunna khalqa allāhi wa-man yattakhidhi l-shayṭāna waliyyan min dūni allāhi fa-qad khasira khusrānan mubīnan

"I will mislead them, and I will create in them false desires; I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and to deface the (fair) nature created by Allah." Whoever, forsaking Allah, takes satan for a friend, hath of a surety suffered a loss that is manifest.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:12

قُل لِّمَن مَّا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ قُل لِلَّـهِ كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

qul lliman mā fī l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi qul lillāhi kataba ʿalā nafsihi l-raḥmata la-yajmaʿannakum ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati lā rayba fīhi lladhīna khasirū anfusahum fa-hum lā yuʾminūna

Say: "To whom belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy. That He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment, there is no doubt whatever. It is they who have lost their own souls, that will not believe.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:20

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يَعْرِفُونَهُۥ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَآءَهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

lladhīna ātaynāhumu l-kitāba yaʿrifūnahu ka-mā yaʿrifūna abnāʾahumu lladhīna khasirū anfusahum fa-hum lā yuʾminūna

Those to whom We have given the Book know this as they know their own sons. Those who have lost their own souls refuse therefore to believe.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:31

قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّـهِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا۟ يَٰحَسْرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ يَحْمِلُونَ أَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمْ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ

qad khasira lladhīna kadhdhabū bi-liqāʾi allāhi ḥatta idhā jāʾathumu l-sāʿatu baghtatan qālū yāḥasratanā ʿalā mā farraṭnā fīhā wa-hum yaḥmilūna awzārahum ʿalā ẓuhūrihim āla sāa mā yazirūna

Lost indeed are they who treat it as a falsehood that they must meet Allah,- until on a sudden the hour is on them, and they say: "Ah! woe unto us that we took no thought of it"; for they bear their burdens on their backs, and evil indeed are the burdens that they bear?

Sura al-Anʿām 6:140

قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَهُمْ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ

qad khasira lladhīna qatalū awlādahum safahan bi-ghayri ʿilmin wa-ḥarramū mā razaqahumu allāhu iftirāʾan ʿalā allāhi qad ḍallū wa-mā kānū muhtadīna

Lost are those who slay their children, from folly, without knowledge, and forbid food which Allah hath provided for them, inventing (lies) against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and heeded no guidance.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:9

وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَظْلِمُونَ

wa-man khaffat mawāzīnuhu fa-ūlāʾika lladhīna khasirū anfusahum bi-mā kānū bi-āyātinā yaẓlimūna

Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:53

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا تَأْوِيلَهُۥ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى تَأْوِيلُهُۥ يَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوهُ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَآءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ فَهَل لَّنَا مِن شُفَعَآءَ فَيَشْفَعُوا۟ لَنَآ أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ قَدْ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

hal yanẓurūna illā taʾwīlahu yawma yaʾtī taʾwīluhu yaqūlu lladhīna nasūhu min qablu qad jāʾat rusulu rabbinā bil-ḥaqqi fahal lanā min shufaʿāʾa fayashfaʿū lanā aw nuraddu fanaʿmala ghayra alladhī kunnā naʿmalu qad khasirū anfusahum wa-ḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūna

Do they just wait for the final fulfilment of the event? On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). Have we no intercessors now to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back? then should we behave differently from our behaviour in the past." In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch.

Sura Yūnus 10:45

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ كَأَن لَّمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ

wa-yawma yaḥshuruhum ka-an lam yalbathū illā sāʿatan mina l-nahāri yataʿārafūna baynahum qad khasira lladhīna kadhdhabū bi-liqāʾi allāhi wa-mā kānū muhtadīna

One day He will gather them together: (It will be) as if they had tarried but an hour of a day: they will recognise each other: assuredly those will be lost who denied the meeting with Allah and refused to receive true guidance.

Sura Hūd 11:21

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

ulāʾika lladhīna khasirū anfusahum wa-ḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūna

They are the ones who have lost their own souls: and the (fancies) they invented have left them in the lurch!

Sura al-Ḥajj 22:11

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَعْبُدُ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ حَرْفٍ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُۥ خَيْرٌ ٱطْمَأَنَّ بِهِۦ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ فِتْنَةٌ ٱنقَلَبَ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦ خَسِرَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةَ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

wa-mina l-nāsi man yaʿbudu allāha ʿalā ḥarfin fa-in aṣābahu khayrun iṭmaʾanna bihi wa-in aṣābathu fitnatun inqalaba ʿalā wajhihi khasira l-dunyā wa-l-akhirata dhālika huwa l-khusrānu l-mubīnu

There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the verge: if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a trial comes to them, they turn on their faces: they lose both this world and the Hereafter: that is loss for all to see!

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:103

وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فِى جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدُونَ

wa-man khaffat mawāzīnuhu fa-ūlāʾika lladhīna khasirū anfusahum fī jahannama khālidūna

But those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls, in Hell will they abide.

Sura al-Zumar 39:15

فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

fa-iʿbudū mā shiʾtum min dūnihi qul inna l-khāsirīna lladhīna khasirū anfusahum wa-ahlīhim yawma l-qiyāmati āla dhālika huwa l-khusrānu l-mubīnu

"Serve ye what ye will besides him." Say: "Truly, those in loss are those who lose their own souls and their People on the Day of Judgment: Ah! that is indeed the (real and) evident Loss!

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:78

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّـهِ قُضِىَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ

wa-la-qad arsalnā rusulan min qablika minhum man qaṣaṣnā ʿalayka wa-minhum man lam naqṣuṣ ʿalayka wa-mā kāna lirasūlin an yaʾtiya bi-āyatin illā bi-idhni allāhi fa-idhā jāa amru allāhi quḍiya bil-ḥaqqi wa-khasira hunālika l-mubṭilūna

We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods.

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:85

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا سُنَّتَ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

falam yaku yanfaʿuhum īmānuhum lammā raʾaw baʾsanā sunnata allāhi allatī qad khalat fī ʿibādihi wa-khasira hunālika l-kāfirūna

But their professing the Faith when they (actually) saw Our Punishment was not going to profit them. (Such has been) Allah's Way of dealing with His Servants (from the most ancient times). And even thus did the Rejecters of Allah perish (utterly)!

Sura al-Shūrā 42:45

وَتَرَىٰهُمْ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا خَٰشِعِينَ مِنَ ٱلذُّلِّ يَنظُرُونَ مِن طَرْفٍ خَفِىٍّ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَلَآ إِنَّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ فِى عَذَابٍ مُّقِيمٍ

wa-tarāhum yuʿraḍūna ʿalayhā khāshiʿīna mina l-dhulli yanẓurūna min ṭarfin khafiyyin wa-qāla lladhīna āmanū inna l-khāsirīna lladhīna khasirū anfusahum wa-ahlīhim yawma l-qiyāmati āla inna l-ẓālimīna fī ʿadhābin muqīmin

And thou wilt see them brought forward to the (Penalty), in a humble frame of mind because of (their) disgrace, (and) looking with a stealthy glance. And the Believers will say: "Those are indeed in loss, who have given to perdition their own selves and those belonging to them on the Day of Judgment. Behold! Truly the Wrong-doers are in a lasting Penalty!"

Sura al-Jāthiyah 45:27

وَلِلَّەِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَخْسَرُ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ

wa-lillahi mulku l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-yawma taqūmu l-sāʿatu yawmaʾidhin yakhsaru l-mubṭilūna

To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and the Day that the Hour of Judgment is established,- that Day will the dealers in Falsehood perish!

Sura al-Muṭaffifīn 83:3

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ

wa-idhā kālūhum aw- wazanūhum yukhsirūna

But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.
