(3:167) | وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا۟ وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ قَٰتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أَوِ ٱدْفَعُوا۟ قَالُوا۟ لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالًا لَّٱتَّبَعْنَٰكُمْ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْإِيمَٰنِ يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَٱللَّـهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَ | wa‑li‑yaʿlama lladhīna nāfaqū waqīla lahum taʿālaw qātilū fī sabīli allāhi awi adfaʿū qālū law naʿlamu qitālan llattabaʿnākum hum lil‑kufri yawmaʾidhin aqrabu minhum lil‑īmāni yaqūlūna biafwāhihim mā laysa fī qulūbihim wallāhu aʿlamu bi‑mā yaktumūna | And the Hypocrites also. These were told: "Come, fight in the
way of Allah, or (at least) drive (The foe from your city)." They said: "Had
we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." They were
that day nearer to Unbelief than to Faith, saying with their lips what was
not in their hearts but Allah hath full knowledge of all they conceal.

These were told: "Come, fight in the way of Allah, or (at least) drive (The foe from your city)." They said: "Had we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." (4:6) | وَٱبْتَلُوا۟ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغُوا۟ ٱلنِّكَاحَ فَإِنْ ءَانَسْتُم مِّنْهُمْ رُشْدًا فَٱدْفَعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوهَآ إِسْرَافًا وَبِدَارًا أَن يَكْبَرُوا۟ وَمَن كَانَ غَنِيًّا فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ فَإِذَا دَفَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فَأَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّـهِ حَسِيبًا | wa‑ibtalū l‑yatāmā ḥatta idhā balaghū l‑nikāḥa fa‑in ānastum minhum rushdan fa‑idfaʿū ilayhim amwālahum wa‑lā takulūhā isrāfan wa‑bidāran an yakbarū wa‑man kāna ghaniyyan fa‑l‑yastaʿfif wa‑man kāna faqīran fa‑l‑yāʾkul bil‑maʿrūfi fa‑idhā dafaʿtum ilayhim amwālahum fa‑ashhidū ʿalayhim wa‑kafā billāhi ḥasīban | Make trial of orphans until they reach the age of marriage; if
then ye find sound judgment in them, release their property to them; but
consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their growing up. If the
guardian is well-off, Let him claim no remuneration, but if he is poor, let
him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When ye release their
property to them, take witnesses in their presence: But all-sufficient is
Allah in taking account.

(23:96) | ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ | adfaʿ billatī hiya aḥsanu l‑sayyiata naḥnu aʿlamu bi‑mā yaṣifūna | Repel evil with that which is best: We are well acquainted
with the things they say.
Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:96 ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ adfaʿ billatī hiya aḥsanu l-sayyiata naḥnu aʿlamu bi-mā yaṣifūna Repel evil with that which is best: We are well acquainted with the things they say. |
(41:34) | وَلَا تَسْتَوِى ٱلْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا ٱلسَّيِّئَةُ ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُۥ عَدَٰوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُۥ وَلِىٌّ حَمِيمٌ | wa‑lā tastawī l‑ḥasanatu wa‑lā l‑sayyiatu adfaʿ billatī hiya aḥsanu fa‑idhā alladhī baynaka wa‑baynahu ʿadāwatun ka‑annahu waliyyun ḥamīmun | Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is
better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy
friend and intimate!
Sura Fuṣṣilat 41:34 وَلَا تَسْتَوِى ٱلْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا ٱلسَّيِّئَةُ ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُۥ عَدَٰوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُۥ وَلِىٌّ حَمِيمٌ wa-lā tastawī l-ḥasanatu wa-lā l-sayyiatu adfaʿ billatī hiya aḥsanu fa-idhā alladhī baynaka wa-baynahu ʿadāwatun ka-annahu waliyyun ḥamīmun Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate! |
