Sura al-Baqara 2:73

فَقُلْنَا ٱضْرِبُوهُ بِبَعْضِهَا كَذَٰلِكَ يُحْىِ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

fa-qulnā iḍribūhu bibaʿḍihā ka-dhālika yuḥyi allāhu l-mawtā wa-yurīkum āyātihi la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

So We said: "Strike the (body) with a piece of the (heifer)." Thus Allah bringeth the dead to life and showeth you His Signs: Perchance ye may understand.

Sura al-Baqara 2:165

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ أَندَادًا يُحِبُّونَهُمْ كَحُبِّ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِلَّـهِ وَلَوْ يَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ إِذْ يَرَوْنَ ٱلْعَذَابَ أَنَّ ٱلْقُوَّةَ لِلَّـهِ جَمِيعًا وَأَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعَذَابِ

wa-mina l-nāsi man yattakhidhu min dūni allāhi andādan yuḥibbūnahum ka-ḥubbi allāhi wa-lladhīna āmanū ashaddu ḥubban lillāhi wa-law yarā lladhīna ẓalamū idh yarawna l-ʿadhāba annā l-qūwata lillāhi jamīʿan wa-anna allāha shadīdu l-ʿadhābi

Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah): They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the penalty.

Sura al-Baqara 2:166

إِذْ تَبَرَّأَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتُّبِعُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ وَرَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَسْبَابُ

idh tabarraʾa lladhīna attubiʿū mina lladhīna attabaʿū wa-raʾawu l-ʿadhāba wa-ṭaqaṭṭaʿaṭ bihimu l-asbābu

Then would those who are followed clear themselves of those who follow (them) : They would see the penalty, and all relations between them would be cut off.

Sura al-Baqara 2:167

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَتَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا تَبَرَّءُوا۟ مِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ يُرِيهِمُ ٱللَّـهُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ حَسَرَٰتٍ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَا هُم بِخَٰرِجِينَ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ

wa-qāla lladhīna attabaʿū law annā la-nā karratan fa-natabarraʾa minhum ka-mā tabarraʾū minnā ka-dhālika yurīhimu allāhu aʿmālahum ḥasarātin ʿalayhim wa-mā hum bi-khārijīna mina l-nāri

And those who followed would say: "If only We had one more chance, We would clear ourselves of them, as they have cleared themselves of us." Thus will Allah show them (The fruits of) their deeds as (nothing but) regrets. Nor will there be a way for them out of the Fire.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:13

قَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ ءَايَةٌ فِى فِئَتَيْنِ ٱلْتَقَتَا فِئَةٌ تُقَٰتِلُ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَأُخْرَىٰ كَافِرَةٌ يَرَوْنَهُم مِّثْلَيْهِمْ رَأْىَ ٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱللَّـهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصْرِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ

qad kāna la-kum āyatun fī fiʾatayni ltaqatā fiʾatun tuqātilu fī sabīli allāhi wa-ukhrā kāfiratun yarawnahum mithlayhim raʾya l-ʿayni wallāhu yuʾayyidu binaṣrihi man yashāʾu inna fī dhālika la-ʿibratan li-lūlī l-abṣāri

"There has already been for you a Sign in the two armies that met (in combat): One was fighting in the cause of Allah, the other resisting Allah; these saw with their own eyes Twice their number. But Allah doth support with His aid whom He pleaseth. In this is a warning for such as have eyes to see."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:152

وَلَقَدْ صَدَقَكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَعْدَهُۥٓ إِذْ تَحُسُّونَهُم بِإِذْنِهِۦ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَشِلْتُمْ وَتَنَٰزَعْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْرِ وَعَصَيْتُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَرَىٰكُم مَّا تُحِبُّونَ مِنكُم مَّن يُرِيدُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُرِيدُ ٱلْأَخِرَةَ ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ لِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا عَنكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa-la-qad ṣadaqakumu allāhu waʿdahu idh taḥussūnahum bi-idhnihi ḥatta idhā fashiltum wa-tanāzaʿtum fī l-amri wa-ʿaṣaytum min baʿdi mā arākum mā tuḥibbūna minkum man yurīdu l-dunyā wa-minkum man yurīdu l-akhirata thumma ṣarafakum ʿanhum li-yabtaliyakum wa-la-qad ʿafā ʿankum wallāhu dhū faḍlin ʿalā l-muʾminīna

Allah did indeed fulfil His promise to you when ye with His permission Were about to annihilate your enemy,-until ye flinched and fell to disputing about the order, and disobeyed it after He brought you in sight (of the booty) which ye covet. Among you are some that hanker after this world and some that desire the Hereafter. Then did He divert you from your foes in order to test you but He forgave you: For Allah is full of grace to those who believe.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:142

إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ يُخَٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّـهَ وَهُوَ خَٰدِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ قَامُوا۟ كُسَالَىٰ يُرَآءُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَلَا يَذْكُرُونَ ٱللَّـهَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

inna l-munāfiqīna yukhādiʿūna allāha wa-huwa khādiʿuhum wa-idhā qāmū ilā l-ṣalawti qāmū kusāla yurāʾūna l-nāsa wa-lā yadhkurūna allāha illā qalīlan

The Hypocrites - they think they are over-reaching Allah, but He will over-reach them: When they stand up to prayer, they stand without earnestness, to be seen of men, but little do they hold Allah in remembrance;

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:31

فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّـهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ قَالَ يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٰرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّٰدِمِينَ

fa-baʿatha allāhu ghurāban yabḥathu fī l-arḍi li-yuriyahu kayfa yuwārī sawata akhīhi qalā yāwaylata aʿajaztu an akūna mithla hādhā l-ghurābi fa-uwāriya sawata akhī fa-aṣbaḥa mina l-nādimīna

Then Allah sent a raven, who scratched the ground, to show him how to hide the shame of his brother. "Woe is me!" said he; "Was I not even able to be as this raven, and to hide the shame of my brother?" then he became full of regrets-

Sura al-Anʿām 6:6

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرَ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ

a-lam yaraw kam ahlaknā min qablihim min qarnin makkannāhum fī l-arḍi mā lam numakkin la-kum wa-arsalnā l-samāʾa ʿalayhim midrāran wa-jaʿalnā l-anhāra tajrī min taḥtihim fa-ahlaknāhum bi-dhunūbihim wa-anshaʾnā min baʿdihim qarnan ākharīna

See they not how many of those before them We did destroy?- generations We had established on the earth, in strength such as We have not given to you - for whom We poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins We destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them).

Sura al-Anʿām 6:25

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كُلَّ ءَايَةٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوكَ يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

wa-minhum man yastamiʿu ilayka wa-jaʿalnā ʿalā qulūbihim akinnatan an yafqahūhu wa-fī ādhānihim waqran wa-in yaraw kulla āyatin lā yuʾminū bihā ḥatta idhā jāʾūka yujādilūnaka yaqūlu lladhīna kafarū in hādhā illā asāṭīru l-awwalīna

Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."

Sura al-Anʿām 6:76

فَلَمَّا جَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلَّيْلُ رَءَا كَوْكَبًا قَالَ هَٰذَا رَبِّى فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَآ أُحِبُّ ٱلْأَفِلِينَ

fa-lammā janna ʿalayhi l-laylu raʾā kawkaban qalā hādhā rabbī fa-lammā afala qalā lā uḥibbu l-afilīna

When the night covered him over, He saw a star: He said: "This is my Lord." But when it set, He said: "I love not those that set."

Sura al-Anʿām 6:77

فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلْقَمَرَ بَازِغًا قَالَ هَٰذَا رَبِّى فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَئِن لَّمْ يَهْدِنِى رَبِّى لَأَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

fa-lammā raʾā l-qamara bāzighan qalā hādhā rabbī fa-lammā afala qalā lain lam yahdinī rabbī la-akūnanna mina l-qawmi l-ḍāllīna

When he saw the moon rising in splendour, he said: "This is my Lord." But when the moon set, He said: "unless my Lord guide me, I shall surely be among those who go astray."

Sura al-Anʿām 6:78

فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلشَّمْسَ بَازِغَةً قَالَ هَٰذَا رَبِّى هَٰذَآ أَكْبَرُ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَتْ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ

fa-lammā raʾā l-shamsa bāzighatan qalā hādhā rabbī hādhā akbaru fa-lammā afalat qalā yā-qawmi innī barīʾun mimmā tushrikūna

When he saw the sun rising in splendour, he said: "This is my Lord; this is the greatest (of all)." But when the sun set, he said: "O my people! I am indeed free from your (guilt) of giving partners to Allah.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:27

يَٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ لَا يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ كَمَآ أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ يَنزِعُ عَنْهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتِهِمَآ إِنَّهُۥ يَرَىٰكُمْ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُۥ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا تَرَوْنَهُمْ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

yā-banī ādama lā yaftinannakumu l-shayṭānu ka-mā akhraja abawaykum mina l-jannati yanziʿu ʿanhumā libāsahumā li-yuriyahumā sawātihimā innahu yarakum huwa wa-qabīluhu min ḥaythu lā tarawnahum innā jaʿalnā l-shayāṭīna awliyāʾa li-lladhīna lā yuʾminūna

O ye Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you, in the same manner as He got your parents out of the Garden, stripping them of their raiment, to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We made the evil ones friends (only) to those without faith.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:146

سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كُلَّ ءَايَةٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهَا وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ سَبِيلَ ٱلرُّشْدِ لَا يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ سَبِيلَ ٱلْغَىِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا غَٰفِلِينَ

saaṣrifu ʿan āyātīa lladhīna yatakabbarūna fī l-arḍi bi-ghayri l-ḥaqqi wa-in yaraw kulla āyatin lā yuʾminū bihā wa-in yaraw sabīla l-rushdi lā yattakhidhūhu sabīlan wa-in yaraw sabīla l-ghayyi yattakhidhūhu sabīlan dhālika bi-annahum kadhdhabū bi-āyātinā wa-kānū ʿanhā ghāfilīna

Those who behave arrogantly on the earth in defiance of right - them will I turn away from My signs: Even if they see all the signs, they will not believe in them; and if they see the way of right conduct, they will not adopt it as the way; but if they see the way of error, that is the way they will adopt. For they have rejected our signs, and failed to take warning from them.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:148

وَٱتَّخَذَ قَوْمُ مُوسَىٰ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ مِنْ حُلِيِّهِمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَّهُۥ خُوَارٌ أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّهُۥ لَا يُكَلِّمُهُمْ وَلَا يَهْدِيهِمْ سَبِيلًا ٱتَّخَذُوهُ وَكَانُوا۟ ظَٰلِمِينَ

wa-ittakhadha qawmu mūsā min baʿdihi min ḥuliyyihim ʿijlan jasadan lahu khuwārun a-lam yaraw annahu lā yukallimuhum wa-lā yahdīhim sabīlan ttakhadhūhu wakānū ẓālimīna

The people of Moses made, in his absence, out of their ornaments, the image of calf, (for worship): it seemed to low: did they not see that it could neither speak to them, nor show them the way? They took it for worship and they did wrong.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:149

وَلَمَّا سُقِطَ فِىٓ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَرَأَوْا۟ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ يَرْحَمْنَا رَبُّنَا وَيَغْفِرْ لَنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ

wa-lammā suqiṭa fī aydīhim wa-raʾaw annahum qad ḍallū qālū lain lam yarḥamnā rabbunā wa-yaghfir la-nā la-nakūnanna mina l-khāsirīna

When they repented, and saw that they had erred, they said: "If our Lord have not mercy upon us and forgive us, we shall indeed be of those who perish."

Sura al-Anfāl 8:43

إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ فِى مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلًا وَلَوْ أَرَىٰكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَّفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَٰزَعْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْرِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ سَلَّمَ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

idh yurīkahumu allāhu fī manāmika qalīlan wa-law arakahum kathīran la-fashiltum wa-latanāzaʿtum fī l-amri wa-lākinna allāha sallama innahu ʿalīmun bi-dhāti l-ṣudūri

Remember in thy dream Allah showed them to thee as few: if He had shown them to thee as many, ye would surely have been discouraged, and ye would surely have disputed in (your) decision; but Allah saved (you): for He knoweth well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:44

وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ ٱلْتَقَيْتُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلًا وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِىَ ٱللَّـهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا وَإِلَى ٱللَّـهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ

wa-idh yurīkumūhum idhi l-taqaytum fī aʿyunikum qalīlan wa-yuqalilukum fī aʿyunihim li-yaqḍiya allāhu amran kāna mafʿūlan wa-ilā allāhi turjaʿu l-umūru

And remember when ye met, He showed them to you as few in your eyes, and He made you appear as contemptible in their eyes: that Allah might accomplish a matter already enacted. For to Allah do all questions go back (for decision).

Sura al-Anfāl 8:48

وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ وَقَالَ لَا غَالِبَ لَكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَإِنِّى جَارٌ لَّكُمْ فَلَمَّا تَرَآءَتِ ٱلْفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّنكُمْ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ مَا لَا تَرَوْنَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱللَّـهُ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ

wa-idh zayyana lahumu l-shayṭānu aʿmālahum wa-qāla lā ghāliba lakumu l-yawma mina l-nāsi wa-innī jārun la-kum fa-lammā tarāʾati l-fiʾatāni nakaṣa ʿalā ʿaqibayhi wa-qāla innī barīʾun minkum innī ara mā lā tarawna innī akhāfu allāha wallāhu shadīdu l-ʿiqābi

Remember Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them, and said: "No one among men can overcome you this day, while I am near to you": But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he turned on his heels, and said: "Lo! I am clear of you; lo! I see what ye see not; Lo! I fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment."

Sura al-Tawbah 9:94

يَعْتَذِرُونَ إِلَيْكُمْ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ قُل لَّا تَعْتَذِرُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكُمْ قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا ٱللَّـهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِكُمْ وَسَيَرَى ٱللَّـهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

yaʿtadhirūna ilaykum idhā rajaʿtum ilayhim qul lā taʿtadhirū lan nuʾmina la-kum qad nabbaʾanā allāhu min akhbārikum wa-sayara allāhu ʿamalakum wa-rasūluhu thumma turaddūna ilā ʿālimi l-ghaybi wa-l-shahādati fa-yunabbiʾukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna

They will present their excuses to you when ye return to them. Say thou: "Present no excuses: we shall not believe you: Allah hath already informed us of the true state of matters concerning you: It is your actions that Allah and His Messenger will observe: in the end will ye be brought back to Him Who knoweth what is hidden and what is open: then will He show you the truth of all that ye did."

Sura al-Tawbah 9:105

وَقُلِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ فَسَيَرَى ٱللَّـهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَسَتُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

wa-quli iʿmalū fasayara allāhu ʿamalakum wa-rasūluhu wa-l-muʾminūna wa-saturaddūna ilā ʿālimi l-ghaybi wa-l-shahādati fa-yunabbiʾukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna

And say: "Work (righteousness): Soon will Allah observe your work, and His Messenger, and the Believers: Soon will ye be brought back to the knower of what is hidden and what is open: then will He show you the truth of all that ye did."

Sura al-Tawbah 9:126

أَوَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ يُفْتَنُونَ فِى كُلِّ عَامٍ مَّرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوبُونَ وَلَا هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

awalā yarawna annahum yuftanūna fī kulli ʿāmin marratan aw marratayni thumma lā yatūbūna wa-lā hum yadhdhakkarūna

See they not that they are tried every year once or twice? Yet they turn not in repentance, and they take no heed.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:127

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ هَلْ يَرَىٰكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ ثُمَّ ٱنصَرَفُوا۟ صَرَفَ ٱللَّـهُ قُلُوبَهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ

wa-idhā mā unzilat sūratun naẓara baʿḍuhum ilā baʿḍin hal yarakum min aḥadin thumma anṣarafū ṣarafa allāhu qulūbahum bi-annahum qawmun lā yafqahūna

Whenever there cometh down a Sura, they look at each other, (saying), "Doth anyone see you?" Then they turn aside: Allah hath turned their hearts (from the light); for they are a people that understand not.

Sura Yūnus 10:54

وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفْسٍ ظَلَمَتْ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَٱفْتَدَتْ بِهِۦ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ وَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

wa-law annā li-kulli nafsin ẓalamat mā fī l-arḍi la-iftadat bihi wa-asarrū l-nadāmata lammā raʾawu l-ʿadhāba wa-quḍiya baynahum bil-qisṭi wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna

Every soul that hath sinned, if it possessed all that is on earth, would fain give it in ransom: They would declare (their) repentance when they see the penalty: but the judgment between them will be with justice, and no wrong will be done unto them.

Sura Yūnus 10:88

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِينَةً وَأَمْوَٰلًا فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِكَ رَبَّنَا ٱطْمِسْ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَٱشْدُدْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ

wa-qāla mūsā rabbanā innaka ātayta firʿawna wa-malaahu zīnatan wa-amwālan fī l-ḥayāti l-dunyā rabbanā li-yuḍillū ʿan sabīlika rabbanā iṭmis ʿala amwālihim wa-ashdud ʿalā qulūbihim fa-lā yuʾminū ḥattā yarawu l-ʿadhāba l-alīma

Moses prayed: "Our Lord! Thou hast indeed bestowed on Pharaoh and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of the present, and so, Our Lord, they mislead (men) from Thy Path. Deface, our Lord, the features of their wealth, and send hardness to their hearts, so they will not believe until they see the grievous penalty."

Sura Yūnus 10:97

وَلَوْ جَآءَتْهُمْ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ

wa-law jāʾathum kullu āyatin ḥattā yarawu l-ʿadhāba l-alīma

Even if every Sign was brought unto them,- until they see (for themselves) the penalty grievous.

Sura Hūd 11:70

فَلَمَّا رَءَآ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ

fa-lammā raʾā aydiyahum lā taṣilu ilayhi nakirahum wa-awjasa minhum khīfatan qālū lā takhaf innā ursilnā ilā qawmi lūṭin

But when he saw their hands went not towards the (meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said: "Fear not: We have been sent against the people of Lut."

Sura Yūsuf 12:24

وَلَقَدْ هَمَّتْ بِهِۦ وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوْلَآ أَن رَّءَا بُرْهَٰنَ رَبِّهِۦ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنَصْرِفَ عَنْهُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَٱلْفَحْشَآءَ إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ

wa-la-qad hammat bihi wa-hamma bihā lawlā an raʾā burhāna rabbihi ka-dhālika li-naṣrifa ʿanhu l-sūa wa-l-faḥshāʾa innahu min ʿibādinā l-mukhlaṣīna

And (with passion) did she desire him, and he would have desired her, but that he saw the evidence of his Lord: thus (did We order) that We might turn away from him (all) evil and shameful deeds: for he was one of Our servants, sincere and purified.

Sura Yūsuf 12:28

فَلَمَّا رَءَا قَمِيصَهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ مِن كَيْدِكُنَّ إِنَّ كَيْدَكُنَّ عَظِيمٌ

fa-lammā raʾā qamīṣahu qudda min duburin qalā innahu min kaydikunna inna kaydakunna ʿaẓīmun

So when he saw his shirt,- that it was torn at the back,- (her husband) said: "Behold! It is a snare of you women! truly, mighty is your snare!

Sura Yūsuf 12:31

فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِمَكْرِهِنَّ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَـًٔا وَءَاتَتْ كُلَّ وَٰحِدَةٍ مِّنْهُنَّ سِكِّينًا وَقَالَتِ ٱخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُۥٓ أَكْبَرْنَهُۥ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَٰشَ لِلَّـهِ مَا هَٰذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ

fa-lammā samiʿat bimakrihinna arsalat ilayhinna wa-aʿtadat la-hunna muttakaʾan wa-ātat kulla wāḥidatin minhunna sikkīnan wa-qālati ikhruj ʿalayhinna fa-lammā raaynahu akbarnahu wa-qaṭṭaʿna aydiyahunna wa-qulna ḥāsha lillāhi mā hādhā basharan in hādhā illā malakun karīmun

When she heard of their malicious talk, she sent for them and prepared a banquet for them: she gave each of them a knife: and she said (to Joseph), "Come out before them." When they saw him, they did extol him, and (in their amazement) cut their hands: they said, "Allah preserve us! no mortal is this! this is none other than a noble angel!"

Sura Yūsuf 12:35

ثُمَّ بَدَا لَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ لَيَسْجُنُنَّهُۥ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ

thumma badā lahum min baʿdi mā raʾawu l-ayāti la-yasjununnahu ḥattā ḥīnin

Then it occurred to the men, after they had seen the signs, (that it was best) to imprison him for a time.

Sura al-Raʿd 13:12

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمُ ٱلْبَرْقَ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَيُنشِئُ ٱلسَّحَابَ ٱلثِّقَالَ

huwa alladhī yurīkumu l-barqa khawfan wa-ṭamaʿan wa-yunshiʾu l-saḥāba l-thiqāla

It is He Who doth show you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope: It is He Who doth raise up the clouds, heavy with (fertilising) rain!

Sura al-Raʿd 13:41

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا نَأْتِى ٱلْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَا وَٱللَّـهُ يَحْكُمُ لَا مُعَقِّبَ لِحُكْمِهِۦ وَهُوَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ

a-wa-lam yaraw annā natī l-arḍa nanquṣuhā min aṭrāfihā wallāhu yaḥkumu lā muʿaqqiba liḥukmihi wa-huwa sarīʿu l-ḥisābi

See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? (Where) Allah commands, there is none to put back His Command: and He is swift in calling to account.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:48

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّـهُ مِن شَىْءٍ يَتَفَيَّؤُا۟ ظِلَٰلُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ سُجَّدًا لِلَّـهِ وَهُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ

a-wa-lam yaraw ilā mā khalaqa allāhu min shayʾin yatafayyau ẓilāluhu ʿani l-yamīni wa-l-shamāʾili sujjadan lillāhi wa-hum dākhirūna

Do they not look at Allah's creation, (even) among (inanimate) things,- How their (very) shadows turn round, from the right and the left, prostrating themselves to Allah, and that in the humblest manner?

Sura al-Naḥl 16:79

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ مُسَخَّرَٰتٍ فِى جَوِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ

a-lam yaraw ilā l-ṭayri musakhkharātin fī jawwi l-samāʾi mā yumsikuhunna illā allāhu inna fī dhālika la-āyātin li-qawmin yuʾminūna

Do they not look at the birds, held poised in the midst of (the air and) the sky? Nothing holds them up but (the power of) Allah. Verily in this are signs for those who believe.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:85

وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ

wa-idhā raʾā lladhīna ẓalamū l-ʿadhāba fa-lā yukhaffafu ʿanhum wa-lā hum yunẓarūna

When the wrong-doers (actually) see the Penalty, then will it in no way be mitigated, nor will they then receive respite.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:86

وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَهُمْ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُرَكَآؤُنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِكَ فَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ إِنَّكُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

wa-idhā raʾā lladhīna ashrakū shurakāʾahum qālū rabbanā hāʾulāʾi shurakāʾunā lladhīna kunnā nadʿū min dūnika fa-alqaw ilayhimu l-qawla innakum la-kādhibūna

When those who gave partners to Allah will see their "partners", they will say: "Our Lord! these are our 'partners,' those whom we used to invoke besides Thee." But they will throw back their word at them (and say): "Indeed ye are liars!"

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:99

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمْ أَجَلًا لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورًا

a-wa-lam yaraw annā allāha alladhī khalaqa l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍa qādirun ʿala an yakhluqa mithlahum wa-jaʿala lahum ajalan lā rayba fīhi faaba l-ẓālimūna illā kufūran

See they not that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, has power to create the like of them (anew)? Only He has decreed a term appointed, of which there is no doubt. But the unjust refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude.

Sura al-Kahf 18:53

وَرَءَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ ٱلنَّارَ فَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مُّوَاقِعُوهَا وَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ عَنْهَا مَصْرِفًا

wa-raā l-mujrimūna l-nāra fa-ẓannū annahum muwāqiʿūhā wa-lam yajidū ʿanhā maṣrifan

And the Sinful shall see the fire and apprehend that they have to fall therein: no means will they find to turn away therefrom.

Sura Maryam 19:75

قُلْ مَن كَانَ فِى ٱلضَّلَٰلَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ مَدًّا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ إِمَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ وَإِمَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضْعَفُ جُندًا

qul man kāna fī l-ḍalālati fa-l-yamdud lahu l-raḥmānu maddan ḥatta idhā raʾaw mā yūʿadūna immā l-ʿadhāba wa-immā l-sāʿata fa-sa-yaʿlamūna man huwa sharrun makānan wa-aḍʿafu jundan

Say: "If any men go astray, (Allah) Most Gracious extends (the rope) to them, until, when they see the warning of Allah (being fulfilled) - either in punishment or in (the approach of) the Hour,- they will at length realise who is worst in position, and (who) weakest in forces!

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:10

إِذْ رَءَا نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ هُدًى

idh raʾā nāran fa-qāla li-ahlihi imkuthū innī ānastu nāran laʿallī ātīkum minhā bi-qabasin aw ajidu ʿalā l-nāri hudan

Behold, he saw a fire: So he said to his family, "Tarry ye; I perceive a fire; perhaps I can bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire."

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:89

أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا

a-fa-lā yarawna allā yarjiʿu ilayhim qawlan wa-lā yamliku lahum ḍarran wa-lā nafʿan

Could they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good?

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:30

أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَٰهُمَا وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَىٍّ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

a-wa-lam yarā lladhīna kafarū annā l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍa kānatā ratqan fa-fataqnāhumā wa-jaʿalnā mina l-māʾi kulla shayʾin ḥayin a-fa-lā yuʾminūna

Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:36

وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَذْكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

wa-idhā raʾāka lladhīna kafarū in yattakhidhūnaka illā huzuwan a-hādhā alladhī yadhkuru ālihatakum wa-hum bi-dhikri l-raḥmāni hum kāfirūna

When the Unbelievers see thee, they treat thee not except with ridicule. "Is this," (they say), "the one who talks of your gods?" and they blaspheme at the mention of (Allah) Most Gracious!

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:44

بَلْ مَتَّعْنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ طَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّا نَأْتِى ٱلْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَآ أَفَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ

bal mattaʿnā hāʾulāʾi wa-ābāahum ḥattā ṭāla ʿalayhimu l-ʿumuru a-fa-lā yarawna annā natī l-arḍa nanquṣuhā min aṭrāfihā afahumu l-ghālibūna

Nay, We gave the good things of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will win?

Sura al-Nūr 24:40

أَوْ كَظُلُمَٰتٍ فِى بَحْرٍ لُّجِّىٍّ يَغْشَىٰهُ مَوْجٌ مِّن فَوْقِهِۦ مَوْجٌ مِّن فَوْقِهِۦ سَحَابٌ ظُلُمَٰتٌۢ بَعْضُهَا فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ إِذَآ أَخْرَجَ يَدَهُۥ لَمْ يَكَدْ يَرَىٰهَا وَمَن لَّمْ يَجْعَلِ ٱللَّـهُ لَهُۥ نُورًا فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن نُّورٍ

aw kaẓulumātin fī baḥrin llujjiyyin yaghshahu mawjun min fawqihi mawjun min fawqihi saḥābun ẓulumātun baʿḍuhā fawqa baʿḍin idhā akhraja yadahu lam yakad yarahā wa-man lam yajʿali allāhu lahu nūran fa-mā lahu min nnūrin

Or (the Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light!

Sura al-Furqān 25:12

إِذَا رَأَتْهُم مِّن مَّكَانٍۭ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا تَغَيُّظًا وَزَفِيرًا

idhā raʾathum min makānin baʿīdin samiʿū lahā taghayyuẓan wa-zafīran

When it sees them from a place fAr off, they will hear its fury and its ranging sigh.

Sura al-Furqān 25:22

يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًا مَّحْجُورًا

yawma yarawna l-malāikata lā bushra yawmaʾidhin lil-mujrimīna wa-yaqūlūna ḥijran maḥjūran

The Day they see the angels,- no joy will there be to the sinners that Day: The (angels) will say: "There is a barrier forbidden (to you) altogether!"

Sura al-Furqān 25:40

وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا۟ عَلَى ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ ٱلسَّوْءِ أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَرَوْنَهَا بَلْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًا

wa-la-qad ātaw ʿalā l-qaryati allatī umṭirat maṭara l-sawʾi a-fa-lam yakūnū yarawnahā bal kānū lā yarjūna nushūran

And the (Unbelievers) must indeed have passed by the town on which was rained a shower of evil: did they not then see it (with their own eyes)? But they fear not the Resurrection.
