Sura al-Baqara 2:286

لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّـهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا ٱكْتَسَبَتْ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَآ إِن نَّسِينَآ أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَآ إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِۦ وَٱعْفُ عَنَّا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَآ أَنتَ مَوْلَىٰنَا فَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

lā yukallifu allāhu nafsan illā wusʿahā lahā mā kasabat wa-ʿalayhā mā aktasabat rabbanā lā tuʾākhidhnā in nasīnā aw akhṭanā rabbanā wa-lā taḥmil ʿalaynā iṣran ka-mā ḥamaltahu ʿalā lladhīna min qablinā rabbanā wa-lā tuḥammilnā mā lā ṭāqata la-nā bihi wa-aʿfu ʿannā wa-aghfir la-nā wa-arḥamnā anta mawlanā fa-anṣurnā ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīna

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:132

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

wa-aṭīʿū allāha wa-l-rasūla la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

And obey Allah and the Messenger; that ye may obtain mercy.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:16

مَّن يُصْرَفْ عَنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمَهُۥ وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

man yuṣraf ʿanhu yawmaʾidhin fa-qad raḥimahu wa-dhālika l-fawzu l-mubīnu

"On that day, if the penalty is averted from any, it is due to Allah's mercy; And that would be (Salvation), the obvious fulfilment of all desire.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:155

وَهَٰذَا كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ مُبَارَكٌ فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

wa-hādhā kitābun anzalnāhu mubārakun fa-ittabiʿūhu wa-ittaqū la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

And this is a Book which We have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that ye may receive mercy:

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:23

قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَآ أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ

qalā rabbanā ẓalamnā anfusanā wa-in lam taghfir la-nā wa-tarḥamnā la-nakūnanna mina l-khāsirīna

They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:63

أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَن جَآءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ وَلِتَتَّقُوا۟ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

awa-ʿajibtum an jāʾakum dhikrun min rabbikum ʿalā rajulin minkum li-yundhirakum wa-li-tattaqū wa-la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

"Do ye wonder that there hath come to you a message from your Lord, through a man of your own people, to warn you,- so that ye may fear Allah and haply receive His Mercy?"

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:149

وَلَمَّا سُقِطَ فِىٓ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَرَأَوْا۟ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ يَرْحَمْنَا رَبُّنَا وَيَغْفِرْ لَنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ

wa-lammā suqiṭa fī aydīhim wa-raʾaw annahum qad ḍallū qālū lain lam yarḥamnā rabbunā wa-yaghfir la-nā la-nakūnanna mina l-khāsirīna

When they repented, and saw that they had erred, they said: "If our Lord have not mercy upon us and forgive us, we shall indeed be of those who perish."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:155

وَٱخْتَارَ مُوسَىٰ قَوْمَهُۥ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا لِّمِيقَٰتِنَا فَلَمَّآ أَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلرَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُم مِّن قَبْلُ وَإِيَّٰىَ أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَّآ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِهَا مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَهْدِى مَن تَشَآءُ أَنتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْغَٰفِرِينَ

wa-akhtāra mūsā qawmahu sabʿīna rajulan li-mīqātinā fa-lammā akhadhathumu l-rajfatu qalā rabbi law shiʾta ahlaktahum min qablu wa-iyyāya atuhlikunā bi-mā faʿala l-sufahāʾu minnā in hiya illā fitnatuka tuḍillu bihā man tashāʾu wa-tahdī man tashāʾu anta waliyyunā fa-ighfir la-nā wa-irḥamnā wa-anta khayru l-ghāfirīna

And Moses chose seventy of his people for Our place of meeting: when they were seized with violent quaking, he prayed: "O my Lord! if it had been Thy will Thou couldst have destroyed, long before, both them and me: wouldst Thou destroy us for the deeds of the foolish ones among us? this is no more than Thy trial: by it Thou causest whom Thou wilt to stray, and Thou leadest whom Thou wilt into the right path. Thou art our Protector: so forgive us and give us Thy mercy; for Thou art the best of those who forgive.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:204

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ فَٱسْتَمِعُوا۟ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

wa-idhā quriʾa l-qurʾānu fa-istamiʿū lahu wa-anṣitū la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

When the Qur'an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:71

وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

wa-l-muʾminūna wa-l-muʾminātu baʿḍuhum awliyāʾu baʿḍin yaʾmurūna bil-maʿrūfi wa-yanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-yuqīmūna l-ṣalāta wa-yuʾtūna l-zakāta wa-yuṭīʿūna allāha wa-rasūlahu ulāʾika sa-yarḥamuhumu allāhu inna allāha ʿazīzun ḥakīmun

The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.

Sura Hūd 11:43

قَالَ سَـَٔاوِىٓ إِلَىٰ جَبَلٍ يَعْصِمُنِى مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ قَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ مِنْ أَمْرِ ٱللَّـهِ إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ وَحَالَ بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلْمَوْجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُغْرَقِينَ

qalā saāwī ilā jabalin yaʿṣimunī mina l-māʾi qalā lā ʿāṣima l-yawma min amri allāhi illā man raḥima wa-ḥāla baynahumā l-mawju fa-kāna mina l-mughraqīna

The son replied: "I will betake myself to some mountain: it will save me from the water." Noah said: "This day nothing can save, from the command of Allah, any but those on whom He hath mercy! "And the waves came between them, and the son was among those overwhelmed in the Flood.

Sura Hūd 11:47

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْـَٔلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِى وَتَرْحَمْنِىٓ أَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ

qalā rabbi innī aʿūdhu bika an asʾalaka mā laysa lī bihi ʿilmun wa-illā taghfir lī wa-tarḥamnī akun mina l-khāsirīna

Noah said: "O my Lord! I do seek refuge with Thee, lest I ask Thee for that of which I have no knowledge. And unless thou forgive me and have Mercy on me, I should indeed be lost!"

Sura Hūd 11:119

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَ وَلِذَٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

illā man raḥima rabbuka wa-lidhālika khalaqahum wa-tammat kalimatu rabbika la-amlaʾanna jahannama mina l-jinnati wa-l-nāsi ajmaʿīna

Except those on whom thy Lord hath bestowed His Mercy: and for this did He create them: and the Word of thy Lord shall be fulfilled: "I will fill Hell with jinns and men all together."

Sura Yūsuf 12:53

وَمَآ أُبَرِّئُ نَفْسِىٓ إِنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَةٌۢ بِٱلسُّوٓءِ إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّىٓ إِنَّ رَبِّى غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

wa-mā ubarriʾu nafsī inna l-nafsa la-ammāratun bil-sūʾi illā mā raḥima rabbī inna rabbī ghafūrun raḥīmun

"Nor do I absolve my own self (of blame): the (human) soul is certainly prone to evil, unless my Lord do bestow His Mercy: but surely my Lord is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful."

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:8

عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَن يَرْحَمَكُمْ وَإِنْ عُدتُّمْ عُدْنَا وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ حَصِيرًا

ʿasā rabbukum an yarḥamakum wa-in ʿudttum ʿudnā wa-jaʿalnā jahannama lil-kāfirīna ḥaṣīran

It may be that your Lord may (yet) show Mercy unto you; but if ye revert (to your sins), We shall revert (to Our punishments): And we have made Hell a prison for those who reject (all Faith).

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:24

وَٱخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ ٱلذُّلِّ مِنَ ٱلرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًا

wa-ikhfiḍ lahumā janāḥa l-dhulli mina l-raḥmati wa-qul rrabbi rḥamhumā ka-mā rabbayānī ṣaghīran

And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: "My Lord! bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood."

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:54

رَّبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِن يَشَأْ يَرْحَمْكُمْ أَوْ إِن يَشَأْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلًا

rrabbukum aʿlamu bikum in yashaʾ yarḥamkum aw in yashaʾ yuʿadhdhibkum wa-mā arsalnāka ʿalayhim wakīlan

It is your Lord that knoweth you best: If He please, He granteth you mercy, or if He please, punishment: We have not sent thee to be a disposer of their affairs for them.

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:75

وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَٰهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرٍّ لَّلَجُّوا۟ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

wa-law raḥimnāhum wa-kashafnā mā bihim min ḍurrin llalajjū fī ṭughyānihim yaʿmahūna

If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro.

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:109

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِى يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

innahu kāna farīqun min ʿibādī yaqūlūna rabbanā āmannā fa-ighfir la-nā wa-irḥamnā wa-anta khayru l-rāḥimīna

"A part of My servants there was, who used to pray 'our Lord! we believe; then do Thou forgive us, and have mercy upon us: For Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:118

وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ وَٱرْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

wa-qul rrabbi aghfir wa-arḥam wa-anta khayru l-rāḥimīna

So say: "O my Lord! grant Thou forgiveness and mercy for Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"

Sura al-Nūr 24:56

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

wa-aqīmū l-ṣalāta wa-ātū l-zakāta wa-aṭīʿū l-rasūla la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

So establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and obey the Messenger; that ye may receive mercy.

Sura al-Naml 27:46

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ ٱللَّـهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

qalā yā-qawmi lima tastaʿjilūna bil-sayyiʾati qabla l-ḥasanati lawlā tastaghfirūna allāha la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

He said: "O my people! why ask ye to hasten on the evil in preference to the good? If only ye ask Allah for forgiveness, ye may hope to receive mercy.

Sura al-ʿAnkabūt 29:21

يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ

yuʿadhdhibu man yashāʾu wa-yarḥamu man yashāʾu wa-ilayhi tuqlabūna

"He punishes whom He pleases, and He grants Mercy to whom He pleases, and towards Him are ye turned.

Sura Yā Sin 36:45

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

wa-idhā qīla lahumu ittaqū mā bayna aydīkum wa-mā khalfakum la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back).

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:9

وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَمَن تَقِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُۥ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

wa-qihimu l-sayyiʾāti wa-man taqi l-sayyiʾāti yawmaʾidhin fa-qad raḥimtahu wa-dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu

"And preserve them from (all) ills; and any whom Thou dost preserve from ills that Day,- on them wilt Thou have bestowed Mercy indeed: and that will be truly (for them) the highest Achievement".

Sura al-Dukhān 44:42

إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

illā man raḥima allāhu innahu huwa l-ʿazīzu l-raḥīmu

Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Ḥujurāt 49:10

إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ بَيْنَ أَخَوَيْكُمْ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

innamā l-muʾminūna ikhwatun fa-aṣliḥū bayna akhawaykum wa-ittaqū allāha la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive Mercy.

Sura al-Mulk 67:28

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّـهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

qul a-raʾaytum in ahlkaniya allāhu wa-man maʿiya aw raḥimanā fa-man yujīru l-kāfirīna min ʿadhābin alīmin

Say: "See ye?- If Allah were to destroy me, and those with me, or if He bestows His Mercy on us,- yet who can deliver the Unbelievers from a grievous Penalty?"
