Sura al-Tawbah 9:8

كَيْفَ وَإِن يَظْهَرُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا يَرْقُبُوا۟ فِيكُمْ إِلًّا وَلَا ذِمَّةً يُرْضُونَكُم بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتَأْبَىٰ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَ

kayfa wa-in yaẓharū ʿalaykum lā yarqubū fīkum illan wa-lā dhimmatan yurḍūnakum bi-afwāhihim wa-taba qulūbuhum wa-aktharuhum fāsiqūna

How (can there be such a league), seeing that if they get an advantage over you, they respect not in you the ties either of kinship or of covenant? With (fair words from) their mouths they entice you, but their hearts are averse from you; and most of them are rebellious and wicked.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:10

لَا يَرْقُبُونَ فِى مُؤْمِنٍ إِلًّا وَلَا ذِمَّةً وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُعْتَدُونَ

lā yarqubūna fī muminin illan wa-lā dhimmatan wa-ūlāʾika humu l-muʿtadūna

In a Believer they respect not the ties either of kinship or of covenant! It is they who have transgressed all bounds.

Sura Hūd 11:93

وَيَٰقَوْمِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّى عَٰمِلٌ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَمَنْ هُوَ كَٰذِبٌ وَٱرْتَقِبُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُمْ رَقِيبٌ

wa-yā-qawmi iʿmalū ʿalā makānatikum innī ʿāmilun sawfa taʿlamūna man yaʾtīhi ʿadhābun yukhzīhi wa-man huwa kādhibun wa-irtaqibū innī maʿakum raqībun

"And O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part): Soon will ye know who it is on whom descends the penalty of ignominy; and who is a liar! and watch ye! for I too am watching with you!"

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:94

قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِى وَلَا بِرَأْسِىٓ إِنِّى خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِى

qalā ya-bnaʾumma lā taʾkhudh bi-liḥyatī wa-lā bi-raʾsī innī khashītu an taqūla farraqta bayna banī isrāʾīla wa-lam tarqub qawlī

(Aaron) replied: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head! Truly I feared lest thou shouldst say, 'Thou has caused a division among the children of Israel, and thou didst not respect my word!'"

Sura al-Qaṣaṣ 28:18

فَأَصْبَحَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ خَآئِفًا يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥ بِٱلْأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥ قَالَ لَهُۥ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّكَ لَغَوِىٌّ مُّبِينٌ

fa-aṣbaḥa fī l-madīnati khāʾifan yataraqqabu fa-idhā alladhī astanṣarahu bil-amsi yastaṣrikhuhu qalā lahu mūsā innaka laghawiyyun mubīnun

So he saw the morning in the city, looking about, in a state of fear, when behold, the man who had, the day before, sought his help called aloud for his help (again). Moses said to him: "Thou art truly, it is clear, a quarrelsome fellow!"

Sura al-Qaṣaṣ 28:21

فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَآئِفًا يَتَرَقَّبُ قَالَ رَبِّ نَجِّنِى مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

fa-kharaja minhā khāʾifan yataraqqabu qalā rabbi najjinī mina l-qawmi l-ẓālimīna

He therefore got away therefrom, looking about, in a state of fear. He prayed "O my Lord! save me from people given to wrong-doing."

Sura al-Dukhān 44:10

فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ

fa-irtaqib yawma tatī l-samāʾu bi-dukhānin mubīnin

Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible,

Sura al-Dukhān 44:59

فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ

fa-irtaqib innahum murtaqibūna

So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting.

Sura al-Qamar 54:27

إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ

innā mursilū l-nāqati fitnatan lahum fa-irtaqibhum wa-iṣṭabir

For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience!
