Sura al-Baqara 2:10

فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ مَرَضًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْذِبُونَ

fī qulūbihim maraḍun fazādahumu allāhu maraḍan wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun bi-mā kānū yakdhibūna

In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).

Sura al-Baqara 2:58

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا ٱدْخُلُوا۟ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ فَكُلُوا۟ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ رَغَدًا وَٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُولُوا۟ حِطَّةٌ نَّغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطَٰيَٰكُمْ وَسَنَزِيدُ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

wa-idh qulnā idkhulū hādhihi l-qaryata fa-kulū minhā ḥaythu shiʾtum raghadan wa-adkhulū l-bāba sujjadan wa-qūlū ḥiṭṭaṭun naghfir la-kum khaṭāyākum wa-sanazīdu l-muḥsinīna

And remember We said: "Enter this town, and eat of the plenty therein as ye wish; but enter the gate with humility, in posture and in words, and We shall forgive you your faults and increase (the portion of) those who do good."

Sura al-Baqara 2:247

وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ قَدْ بَعَثَ لَكُمْ طَالُوتَ مَلِكًا قَالُوٓا۟ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ أَحَقُّ بِٱلْمُلْكِ مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُؤْتَ سَعَةً مِّنَ ٱلْمَالِ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱصْطَفَىٰهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَزَادَهُۥ بَسْطَةً فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ وَٱلْجِسْمِ وَٱللَّـهُ يُؤْتِى مُلْكَهُۥ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

wa-qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna allāha qad baʿatha la-kum ṭālūta malikan qālū annā yakūnu lahu l-mulku ʿalaynā wa-naḥnu aḥaqqu bil-mulki minhu wa-lam yuʾtā saʿatan mina l-māli qalā inna allāha iṣṭafāhu ʿalaykum wa-zādahu basṭatan fī l-ʿilmi wa-l-jismi wallāhu yuʾtī mulkahu man yashāʾu wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun

Their Prophet said to them: "Allah hath appointed Talut as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "Allah hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:90

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِهِمْ ثُمَّ ٱزْدَادُوا۟ كُفْرًا لَّن تُقْبَلَ تَوْبَتُهُمْ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلضَّآلُّونَ

inna lladhīna kafarū baʿda īmānihim thumma azdādū kufran lan tuqbala tawbatuhum wa-ūlāʾika humu l-ḍāllūna

But those who reject Faith after they accepted it, and then go on adding to their defiance of Faith,- never will their repentance be accepted; for they are those who have (of set purpose) gone astray.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:173

ٱلَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوا۟ لَكُمْ فَٱخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَٰنًا وَقَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّـهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ

lladhīna qalā lahumu l-nāsu inna l-nāsa qad jamaʿū la-kum fa-ikhshawhum fa-zādahum īmānan wa-qālū ḥasbunā allāhu waniʿma l-wakīlu

Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you": And frightened them: But it (only) increased their Faith: They said: "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:178

وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا نُمْلِى لَهُمْ خَيْرٌ لِّأَنفُسِهِمْ إِنَّمَا نُمْلِى لَهُمْ لِيَزْدَادُوٓا۟ إِثْمًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

wa-lā yaḥsabanna lladhīna kafarū annamā numlī lahum khayrun llianfusihim innamā numlī lahum li-yazdādū ithman wa-lahum ʿadhābun muhīnun

Let not the Unbelievers think that our respite to them is good for themselves: We grant them respite that they may grow in their iniquity: But they will have a shameful punishment.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:137

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ٱزْدَادُوا۟ كُفْرًا لَّمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّـهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَبِيلًۢا

inna lladhīna āmanū thumma kafarū thumma āmanū thumma kafarū thumma azdādū kufran lam yakuni allāhu li-yaghfira lahum wa-lā li-yahdiyahum sabīlan

Those who believe, then reject faith, then believe (again) and (again) reject faith, and go on increasing in unbelief,- Allah will not forgive them nor guide them nor guide them on the way.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:173

فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَنكَفُوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

fa-ammā lladhīna āmanū wa-ʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti fa-yuwaffīhim ujūrahum wa-yazīduhum min faḍlihi wa-ammā lladhīna istankafū wa-istakbarū fa-yuʿadhdhibuhum ʿadhāban alīman wa-lā yajidūna lahum min dūni allāhi waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran

But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards,- and more, out of His bounty: But those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous penalty; Nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:64

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ يَدُ ٱللَّـهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا۟ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ يُنفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَٰنًا وَكُفْرًا وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ كُلَّمَآ أَوْقَدُوا۟ نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا ٱللَّـهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا وَٱللَّـهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

waqālati l-yahūdu yadu allāhi maghlūlatun ghullat aydīhim wa-luʿinū bi-mā qālū bal yadāhu mabsūṭatāni yunfiqu kayfa yashāʾu wa-la-yazīdanna kathīran minhum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭughyānan wa-kufran wa-l-qaynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wa-l-baghḍāʾa ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati kullamā awqadū nāran lil-ḥarbi aṭfaʾahā allāhu wa-yasʿawna fī l-arḍi fasādan wallāhu lā yuḥibbu l-mufsidīna

The Jews say: "Allah's hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:68

قُلْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ تُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَٰنًا وَكُفْرًا فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

qul yāʾahla l-kitābi lastum ʿalā shayʾin ḥattā tuqīmū l-tawrāta wa-l-injīla wa-mā unzila ilaykum min rabbikum wa-la-yazīdanna kathīran minhum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭughyānan wa-kufran fa-lā taʾsa ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīna

Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:69

أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَن جَآءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَزَادَكُمْ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ بَصْۜطَةً فَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ ءَالَآءَ ٱللَّـهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

awa-ʿajibtum an jāʾakum dhikrun min rabbikum ʿalā rajulin minkum li-yundhirakum wa-idhkurū idh jaʿalakum khulafāʾa min baʿdi qawmi nūḥin wa-zādakum fī l-khalqi baṣṭatan fa-udhkurū ālāʾa allāhi la-ʿallakum tufliḥūna

"Do ye wonder that there hath come to you a message from your Lord through a man of your own people, to warn you? call in remembrance that He made you inheritors after the people of Noah, and gave you a stature tall among the nations. Call in remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah: that so ye may prosper."

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:161

وَإِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱسْكُنُوا۟ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ وَكُلُوا۟ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ وَقُولُوا۟ حِطَّةٌ وَٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْبَابَ سُجَّدًا نَّغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِكُمْ سَنَزِيدُ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

wa-idh qīla lahumu iskunū hādhihi l-qaryata wa-kulū minhā ḥaythu shiʾtum wa-qūlū ḥiṭṭaṭun wa-adkhulū l-bāba sujjadan naghfir la-kum khaṭīʾātikum sa-nazīdu l-muḥsinīna

And remember it was said to them: "Dwell in this town and eat therein as ye wish, but say the word of humility and enter the gate in a posture of humility: We shall forgive you your faults; We shall increase (the portion of) those who do good."

Sura al-Anfāl 8:2

إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّـهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَٰنًا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

innamā l-muʾminūna lladhīna idhā dhukira allāhu wajilat qulūbuhum wa-idhā tuliyat ʿalayhim āyātuhu zādathum īmānan wa-ʿalā rabbihim yatawakkalūna

For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord;

Sura al-Tawbah 9:47

لَوْ خَرَجُوا۟ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلَّا خَبَالًا وَلَأَوْضَعُوا۟ خِلَٰلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّٰعُونَ لَهُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

law kharajū fīkum mā zādūkum illā khabālan wa-la-awḍaʿū khilālakum yabghūnakumu l-fitnata wa-fīkum sammāʿūna lahum wallāhu ʿalīmun bil-ẓālimīna

If they had come out with you, they would not have added to your (strength) but only (made for) disorder, hurrying to and fro in your midst and sowing sedition among you, and there would have been some among you who would have listened to them. But Allah knoweth well those who do wrong.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:124

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَٰذِهِۦٓ إِيمَٰنًا فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَٰنًا وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

wa-idhā mā unzilat sūratun fa-minhum man yaqūlu ayyukum zādathu hādhihi īmānan fa-ammā lladhīna āmanū fazādathum īmānan wa-hum yastabshirūna

Whenever there cometh down a sura, some of them say: "Which of you has had His faith increased by it?" Yea, those who believe,- their faith is increased and they do rejoice.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:125

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَتْهُمْ رِجْسًا إِلَىٰ رِجْسِهِمْ وَمَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

wa-ammā lladhīna fī qulūbihim maraḍun fazādathum rijsan ilā rijsihim wa-mātū wa-hum kāfirūna

But those in whose hearts is a disease,- it will add doubt to their doubt, and they will die in a state of Unbelief.

Sura Hūd 11:52

وَيَٰقَوْمِ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا وَيَزِدْكُمْ قُوَّةً إِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمْ وَلَا تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ

wa-yā-qawmi istaghfirū rabbakum thumma tūbū ilayhi yursili l-samāʾa ʿalaykum midrāran wa-yazidkum quwwatan ilā quwwatikum wa-lā tatawallaw mujrimīna

"And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him (in repentance): He will send you the skies pouring abundant rain, and add strength to your strength: so turn ye not back in sin!"

Sura Hūd 11:63

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَءَاتَىٰنِى مِنْهُ رَحْمَةً فَمَن يَنصُرُنِى مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُۥ فَمَا تَزِيدُونَنِى غَيْرَ تَخْسِيرٍ

qalā yā-qawmi a-raʾaytum in kuntu ʿalā bayyinatin min rrabbī wa-ātanī minhu raḥmatan fa-man yanṣurunī mina allāhi in ʿaṣaytuhu fa-mā tazīdūnanī ghayra takhsīrin

He said: "O my people! do ye see? if I have a Clear (Sign) from my Lord and He hath sent Mercy unto me from Himself,- who then can help me against Allah if I were to disobey Him? What then would ye add to my (portion) but perdition?

Sura Hūd 11:101

وَمَا ظَلَمْنَٰهُمْ وَلَٰكِن ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَمَآ أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمْ ءَالِهَتُهُمُ ٱلَّتِى يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ مِن شَىْءٍ لَّمَّا جَآءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٍ

wa-mā ẓalamnāhum wa-lākin ẓalamū anfusahum fa-mā aghnat ʿanhum ālihatuhumu allatī yadʿūna min dūni allāhi min shayʾin llammā jāa amru rabbika wa-mā zādūhum ghayra tatbībin

It was not We that wronged them: They wronged their own souls: the deities, other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them no whit when there issued the decree of thy Lord: Nor did they add aught (to their lot) but perdition!

Sura Yūsuf 12:65

وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا۟ مَتَٰعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِى هَٰذِهِۦ بِضَٰعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍ ذَٰلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَسِيرٌ

wa-lammā fataḥū matāʿahum wajadū biḍāʿatahum ruddat ilayhim qālū yā-abānā mā nabghī hādhihi biḍāʿatunā ruddat ilaynā wa-namīru ahlanā wa-naḥfaẓu akhānā wa-nazdādu kayla baʿīrin dhālika kaylun yasīrun

Then when they opened their baggage, they found their stock-in-trade had been returned to them. They said: "O our father! What (more) can we desire? this our stock-in-trade has been returned to us: so we shall get (more) food for our family; We shall take care of our brother; and add (at the same time) a full camel's load (of grain to our provisions). This is but a small quantity.

Sura al-Raʿd 13:8

ٱللَّـهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَحْمِلُ كُلُّ أُنثَىٰ وَمَا تَغِيضُ ٱلْأَرْحَامُ وَمَا تَزْدَادُ وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ عِندَهُۥ بِمِقْدَارٍ

allāhu yaʿlamu mā taḥmilu kullu unthā wa-mā taghīḍu l-arḥāmu wa-mā tazdādu wa-kullu shayʾin ʿindahu bi-miqdārin

Allah doth know what every female (womb) doth bear, by how much the wombs fall short (of their time or number) or do exceed. Every single thing is before His sight, in (due) proportion.

Sura Ibrāhīm 14:7

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِى لَشَدِيدٌ

wa-idh taʾadhdhana rabbukum lain shakartum la-azīdannakum wa-laʾin kafartum inna ʿadhābī la-shadīdun

And remember! your Lord caused to be declared (publicly): "If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; But if ye show ingratitude, truly My punishment is terrible indeed."

Sura al-Naḥl 16:88

ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ زِدْنَٰهُمْ عَذَابًا فَوْقَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يُفْسِدُونَ

lladhīna kafarū wa-ṣaddū ʿan sabīli allāhi zidnāhum ʿadhāban fawqa l-ʿadhābi bi-mā kānū yufsidūna

Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah - for them will We add Penalty to Penalty; for that they used to spread mischief.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:41

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِى هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ وَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا

wa-la-qad ṣarrafnā fī hādhā l-qurʾāni li-yadhdhakkarū wa-mā yazīduhum illā nufūran

We have explained (things) in various (ways) in this Qur'an, in order that they may receive admonition, but it only increases their flight (from the Truth)!

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:60

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لَكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ أَحَاطَ بِٱلنَّاسِ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا ٱلرُّءْيَا ٱلَّتِىٓ أَرَيْنَٰكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَٱلشَّجَرَةَ ٱلْمَلْعُونَةَ فِى ٱلْقُرْءَانِ وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ فَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا طُغْيَٰنًا كَبِيرًا

wa-idh qulnā la-ka inna rabbaka aḥāṭa bil-nāsi wa-mā jaʿalnā l-ruʾyā allatī araynāka illā fitnatan lil-nāsi wa-l-shajarata l-malʿūnata fī l-qurʾāni wa-nukhawwifuhum fa-mā yazīduhum illā ṭughyānan kabīran

Behold! We told thee that thy Lord doth encompass mankind round about: We granted the vision which We showed thee, but as a trial for men,- as also the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Qur'an: We put terror (and warning) into them, but it only increases their inordinate transgression!

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:82

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا

wa-nunazzilu mina l-qurʾāni mā huwa shifāʾun wa-raḥmatun lil-muʾminīna wa-lā yazīdu l-ẓālimīna illā khasāran

We send down (stage by stage) in the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:97

وَمَن يَهْدِ ٱللَّـهُ فَهُوَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِهِۦ وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ عُمْيًا وَبُكْمًا وَصُمًّا مَّأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ كُلَّمَا خَبَتْ زِدْنَٰهُمْ سَعِيرًا

wa-man yahdi allāhu fa-huwa l-muhtadi wa-man yuḍlil fa-lan tajida lahum awliyāʾa min dūnihi wa-naḥshuruhum yawma l-qiyāmati ʿalā wujūhihim ʿumyan wa-bukman wa-ṣumman maʾwāhum jahannamu kullamā khabat zidnāhum saʿīran

It is he whom Allah guides, that is on true Guidance; but he whom He leaves astray - for such wilt thou find no protector besides Him. On the Day of Judgment We shall gather, them together, prone on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf: their abode will be Hell: every time it shows abatement, We shall increase from them the fierceness of the Fire.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:109

وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا

wa-yakhirrūna lil-adhqāni yabkūna wa-yazīduhum khushūʿan

They fall down on their faces in tears, and it increases their (earnest) humility.

Sura al-Kahf 18:13

نَّحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ نَبَأَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَٰهُمْ هُدًى

nnaḥnu naquṣṣu ʿalayka nabaahum bil-ḥaqqi innahum fityatun āmanū bi-rabbihim wa-zidnāhum hudan

We relate to thee their story in truth: they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We advanced them in guidance:

Sura al-Kahf 18:25

وَلَبِثُوا۟ فِى كَهْفِهِمْ ثَلَٰثَ مِا۟ئَةٍ سِنِينَ وَٱزْدَادُوا۟ تِسْعًا

wa-labithū fī kahfihim thalātha miʾatin sinīna wa-izdādū tisʿan

So they stayed in their Cave three hundred years, and (some) add nine (more)

Sura Maryam 19:76

وَيَزِيدُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ هُدًى وَٱلْبَٰقِيَٰتُ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ مَّرَدًّا

wa-yazīdu allāhu lladhīna ihtadaw hudan wa-l-bāqiyātu l-ṣāliḥātu khayrun ʿinda rabbika thawāban wa-khayrun maraddan

"And Allah doth advance in guidance those who seek guidance: and the things that endure, Good Deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best in respect of (their) eventual return."

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:114

فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُۥ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا

fa-taʿālā allāhu l-maliku l-ḥaqqu wa-lā taʿjal bil-qurʾāni min qabli an yuqḍa ilayka waḥyuhu wa-qul rrabbi zidnī ʿilman

High above all is Allah, the King, the Truth! Be not in haste with the Qur'an before its revelation to thee is completed, but say, "O my Lord! advance me in knowledge."

Sura al-Nūr 24:38

لِيَجْزِيَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ وَٱللَّـهُ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

li-yajziyahumu allāhu aḥsana mā ʿamilū wa-yazīdahum min faḍlihi wallāhu yarzuqu man yashāʾu bi-ghayri ḥisābin

That Allah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace: for Allah doth provide for those whom He will, without measure.

Sura al-Furqān 25:60

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ قَالُوا۟ وَمَا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًا

wa-idhā qīla lahumu isjudū lil-raḥmāni qālū wa-mā l-raḥmānu anasjudu li-mā taʾmurūna wa-zādahum nufūran

When it is said to them, "Prostrate to (Allah) Most Gracious!", they say, "And what is (Allah) Most Gracious? Shall we prostrate to that which thou commandest us?" And it increases their flight (from the Truth).

Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:22

وَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلْأَحْزَابَ قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّـهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَصَدَقَ ٱللَّـهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَمَا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّآ إِيمَٰنًا وَتَسْلِيمًا

wa-lammā raʾā l-muʾminūna l-aḥzāba qālū hādhā mā waʿadanā allāhu wa-rasūluhu wa-ṣadaqa allāhu wa-rasūluhu wa-mā zādahum illā īmānan wa-taslīman

When the Believers saw the Confederate forces, they said: "This is what Allah and his Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true." And it only added to their faith and their zeal in obedience.

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:1

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ جَاعِلِ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلًا أُو۟لِىٓ أَجْنِحَةٍ مَّثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَ يَزِيدُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ مَا يَشَآءُ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

l-ḥamdu lillāhi fāṭiri l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi jāʿili l-malāʾikati rusulan ūlī ajniḥatin mathna wa-thulātha wa-rubāʿa yazīdu fī l-khalqi mā yashāʾu inna allāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

Praise be to Allah, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels, messengers with wings,- two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allah has power over all things.

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:30

لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦٓ إِنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

li-yuwaffiyahum ujūrahum wa-yazīdahum min faḍlihi innahu ghafūrun shakūrun

For He will pay them their meed, nay, He will give them (even) more out of His Bounty: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (service).

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:39

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَمَن كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُهُۥ وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ كُفْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا مَقْتًا وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ كُفْرُهُمْ إِلَّا خَسَارًا

huwa alladhī jaʿalakum khalāʾifa fī l-arḍi fa-man kafara faʿalayhi kufruhu wa-lā yazīdu l-kāfirīna kufruhum ʿinda rabbihim illā maqtan wa-lā yazīdu l-kāfirīna kufruhum illā khasāran

He it is That has made you inheritors in the earth: if, then, any do reject (Allah), their rejection (works) against themselves: their rejection but adds to the odium for the Unbelievers in the sight of their Lord: their rejection but adds to (their own) undoing.

Sura al-Faṭīr 35:42

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْ إِحْدَى ٱلْأُمَمِ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌ مَّا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا

wa-aqsamū billāhi jahda aymānihim lain jāʾahum nadhīrun la-yakūnunna ahdā min iḥda l-umami fa-lammā jāʾahum nadhīrun mā zādahum illā nufūran

They swore their strongest oaths by Allah that if a warner came to them, they would follow his guidance better than any (other) of the Peoples: But when a warner came to them, it has only increased their flight (from righteousness),-

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:147

وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ

wa-arsalnāhu ilā miʾati alfin aw yazīdūna

And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more.

Sura Ṣād 38:61

قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِى ٱلنَّارِ

qālū rabbanā man qaddama la-nā hādhā fazidhu ʿadhāban ḍiʿfan fī l-nāri

They will say: "Our Lord! whoever brought this upon us,- Add to him a double Penalty in the Fire!"

Sura al-Shūrā 42:20

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ نَزِدْ لَهُۥ فِى حَرْثِهِۦ وَمَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ ٱلدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا وَمَا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ مِن نَّصِيبٍ

man kāna yurīdu ḥartha l-akhirati nazid lahu fī ḥarthihi wa-man kāna yurīdu ḥartha l-dunyā nuʾtihi minhā wa-mā lahu fī l-akhirati min nnaṣībin

To any that desires the tilth of the Hereafter, We give increase in his tilth, and to any that desires the tilth of this world, We grant somewhat thereof, but he has no share or lot in the Hereafter.

Sura al-Shūrā 42:23

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّـهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا ٱلْمَوَدَّةَ فِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُۥ فِيهَا حُسْنًا إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

dhālika alladhī yubashshiru allāhu ʿibādahu lladhīna āmanū wa-ʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti qul lā asʾalukum ʿalayhi ajran illā l-mawaddata fī l-qurbā wa-man yaqtarif ḥasanatan nazid lahu fīhā ḥusnan inna allāha ghafūrun shakūrun

That is (the Bounty) whereof Allah gives Glad Tidings to His Servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin." And if any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good in respect thereof: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (service).

Sura al-Shūrā 42:26

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

wa-yastajību lladhīna āmanū wa-ʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti wa-yazīduhum min faḍlihi wa-l-kāfirūna lahum ʿadhābun shadīdun

And He listens to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, and gives them increase of His Bounty: but for the Unbelievers their is a terrible Penalty.

Sura Muḥammad 47:17

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَءَاتَىٰهُمْ تَقْوَىٰهُمْ

wa-lladhīna ihtadaw zādahum hudan wa-ātāhum taqwāhum

But to those who receive Guidance, He increases the (light of) Guidance, and bestows on them their Piety and Restraint (from evil).

Sura al-Fatḥ 48:4

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَزْدَادُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنًا مَّعَ إِيمَٰنِهِمْ وَلِلَّەِ جُنُودُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا

huwa alladhī anzala l-sakīnata fī qulūbi l-muʾminīna li-yazdādū īmānan maʿa īmānihim wa-lillahi junūdu l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-kāna allāhu ʿalīman ḥakīman

It is He Who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the Believers, that they may add faith to their faith;- for to Allah belong the Forces of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom;-

Sura Nūḥ 71:6

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًا

falam yazidhum duʿāʾī illā firāran

"But my call only increases (their) flight (from the Right).

Sura Nūḥ 71:21

قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا

qalā nūḥun rrabbi innahum ʿaṣawnī wa-ittabaʿū man lam yazidhu māluhu wa-waladuhu illā khasāran

Noah said: "O my Lord! They have disobeyed me, but they follow (men) whose wealth and children give them no increase but only Loss.

Sura Nūḥ 71:24

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلًا

wa-qad aḍallū kathīran wa-lā tazidi l-ẓālimīna illā ḍalālan

"They have already misled many; and grant Thou no increase to the wrong-doers but in straying (from their mark)."

Sura Nūḥ 71:28

رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا

rrabbi aghfir lī wa-li-wālidayya wa-liman dakhala baytiya muʾminan wa-lil-muʾminīna wa-l-muʾmināti wa-lā tazidi l-ẓālimīna illā tabāran

"O my Lord! Forgive me, my parents, all who enter my house in Faith, and (all) believing men and believing women: and to the wrong-doers grant Thou no increase but in perdition!"
