Sura al-Tawbah 9:49

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ٱئْذَن لِّى وَلَا تَفْتِنِّىٓ أَلَا فِى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُوا۟ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌۢ بِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

wa-minhum man yaqūlu adhan lī wa-lā taftinnī āla fī l-fitnati saqaṭū wa-inna jahannama la-muḥīṭatun bil-kāfirīna

Among them is (many) a man who says: "Grant me exemption and draw me not into trial." Have they not fallen into trial already? and indeed Hell surrounds the Unbelievers (on all sides).

Sura Sabaʾ 34:9

أَفَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِن نَّشَأْ نَخْسِفْ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ نُسْقِطْ عَلَيْهِمْ كِسَفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةً لِّكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُّنِيبٍ

a-fa-lam yaraw ilā mā bayna aydīhim wa-mā khalfahum mina l-samāʾi wa-l-arḍi in nashaʾ nakhsif bihimu l-arḍa aw nusqiṭ ʿalayhim kisafan mina l-samāʾi inna fī dhālika la-āyatan li-kulli ʿabdin munībin

See they not what is before them and behind them, of the sky and the earth? If We wished, We could cause the earth to swallow them up, or cause a piece of the sky to fall upon them. Verily in this is a Sign for every devotee that turns to Allah (in repentance).
