If aught that is good befalls you, it grieves them; but if some misfortune overtakes you, they rejoice at it. But if ye are constant and do right, not the least harm will their cunning do to you; for Allah Compasseth round about all that they do.

Surah 4 al-Nisāʾ (The Women)

وَلَا  تَنكِحُوا۟  مَا  نَكَحَ  ءَابَآؤُكُم  مِّنَ  ٱلنِّسَآءِ  إِلَّا  مَا  قَدْ  سَلَفَ  إِنَّهُۥ  كَانَ  فَٰحِشَةً  وَمَقْتًا  وَسَآءَ  سَبِيلًا wa‑lā tankiḥū nakaḥa ābāukum mina l‑nisāʾi illā qad salafa innahu kāna fāḥishatan wa‑maqtan wa‑sāʾa sabīlan

(4:38)

وَٱلَّذِينَ  يُنفِقُونَ  أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ  رِئَآءَ  ٱلنَّاسِ  وَلَا  يُؤْمِنُونَ  بِٱللَّـهِ  وَلَا  بِٱلْيَوْمِ  ٱلْأَخِرِ  وَمَن  يَكُنِ  ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ  لَهُۥ  قَرِينًا  فَسَآءَ  قَرِينًا wa‑lladhīna yunfiqūna amwālahum riʾāʾa l‑nāsi wa‑lā yuʾminūna billāhi wa‑lā bil‑yawmi l‑akhiri wa‑man yakuni l‑shayṭānu lahu qarīnan fa‑sāʾa qarīnan
Not those who spend of their substance, to be seen of men, but have no faith in Allah and the Last Day: If any take the Evil One for their intimate, what a dreadful intimate he is!
(4:97)

إِنَّ  ٱلَّذِينَ  تَوَفَّىٰهُمُ  ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ  ظَالِمِىٓ  أَنفُسِهِمْ  قَالُوا۟  فِيمَ  كُنتُمْ  قَالُوا۟  كُنَّا  مُسْتَضْعَفِينَ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  قَالُوٓا۟  أَلَمْ  تَكُنْ  أَرْضُ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَٰسِعَةً  فَتُهَاجِرُوا۟  فِيهَا  فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  مَأْوَىٰهُمْ  جَهَنَّمُ  وَسَآءَتْ  مَصِيرًا inna lladhīna tawaffahumu l‑malāʾikatu ẓālimī anfusihim qālū fīma kuntum qālū kunnā mustaḍʿafīna l‑arḍi qālū a‑lam takun arḍu allāhi wāsiʿatan fa‑tuhājirū fīhā fa‑ūlāʾika maʾwāhum jahannamu wa‑sāʾat maṣīran
When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! -
(4:115)

وَمَن  يُشَاقِقِ  ٱلرَّسُولَ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  مَا  تَبَيَّنَ  لَهُ  ٱلْهُدَىٰ  وَيَتَّبِعْ  غَيْرَ  سَبِيلِ  ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ  نُوَلِّهِۦ  مَا  تَوَلَّىٰ  وَنُصْلِهِۦ  جَهَنَّمَ  وَسَآءَتْ  مَصِيرًا wa‑man yushāqiqi l‑rasūla min baʿdi tabayyana lahu l‑hudā wa‑yattabiʿ ghayra sabīli l‑muʾminīna nuwallihi tawalla wa‑nuṣlihi jahannama wa‑sāʾat maṣīran

Surah 5 al-Māʾidah (The Table Spread)
(5:66)

If only they had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course: but many of them follow a course that is evil.
(5:101)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  لَا  تَسْـَٔلُوا۟  عَنْ  أَشْيَآءَ  إِن  تُبْدَ  لَكُمْ  تَسُؤْكُمْ  وَإِن  تَسْـَٔلُوا۟  عَنْهَا  حِينَ  يُنَزَّلُ  ٱلْقُرْءَانُ  تُبْدَ  لَكُمْ  عَفَا  ٱللَّـهُ  عَنْهَا  وَٱللَّـهُ  غَفُورٌ  حَلِيمٌ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū tasʾalū ʿan ashyāʾa in tubda la‑kum tasukum wa‑in tasʾalū ʿanhā ḥīna yunazzalu l‑qurʾānu tubda la‑kum ʿafā allāhu ʿanhā wallāhu ghafūrun ḥalīmun
O ye who believe! Ask not questions about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if ye ask about things when the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be made plain to you, Allah will forgive those: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.

Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)
(6:31)

قَدْ  خَسِرَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَذَّبُوا۟  بِلِقَآءِ  ٱللَّـهِ  حَتَّىٰٓ  إِذَا  جَآءَتْهُمُ  ٱلسَّاعَةُ  بَغْتَةً  قَالُوا۟  يَٰحَسْرَتَنَا  عَلَىٰ  مَا  فَرَّطْنَا  فِيهَا  وَهُمْ  يَحْمِلُونَ  أَوْزَارَهُمْ  عَلَىٰ  ظُهُورِهِمْ  أَلَا  سَآءَ  مَا  يَزِرُونَ qad khasira lladhīna kadhdhabū bi‑liqāʾi allāhi ḥatta idhā jāʾathumu l‑sāʿatu baghtatan qālū yāḥasratanā ʿalā farraṭnā fīhā wa‑hum yaḥmilūna awzārahum ʿalā ẓuhūrihim āla sāa yazirūna
Lost indeed are they who treat it as a falsehood that they must meet Allah,- until on a sudden the hour is on them, and they say: "Ah! woe unto us that we took no thought of it"; for they bear their burdens on their backs, and evil indeed are the burdens that they bear?
(6:136)

وَجَعَلُوا۟  لِلَّـهِ  مِمَّا  ذَرَأَ  مِنَ  ٱلْحَرْثِ  وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ  نَصِيبًا  فَقَالُوا۟  هَٰذَا  لِلَّـهِ  بِزَعْمِهِمْ  وَهَٰذَا  لِشُرَكَآئِنَا  فَمَا  كَانَ  لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ  فَلَا  يَصِلُ  إِلَى  ٱللَّـهِ  وَمَا  كَانَ  لِلَّـهِ  فَهُوَ  يَصِلُ  إِلَىٰ  شُرَكَآئِهِمْ  سَآءَ  مَا  يَحْكُمُونَ wa‑jaʿalū lillāhi mimmā dharaʾa mina l‑ḥarthi wa‑l‑anʿāmi naṣīban fa‑qālū hādhā lillāhi bi‑zaʿmihim wa‑hādhā li‑shurakāʾinā fa‑mā kāna li‑shurakāʾihim fa‑lā yaṣilu ilā allāhi wa‑mā kāna lillāhi fa‑huwa yaṣilu ilā shurakāʾihim sāa yaḥkumūna
Out of what Allah hath produced in abundance in tilth and in cattle, they assigned Him a share: they say, according to their fancies: "This is for Allah, and this" - for our "partners"! but the share of their" partners "reacheth not Allah, whilst the share of Allah reacheth their "partners" ! evil (and unjust) is their assignment!

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)

Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance)
(9:9)

ٱشْتَرَوْا۟  بِـَٔايَٰتِ  ٱللَّـهِ  ثَمَنًا  قَلِيلًا  فَصَدُّوا۟  عَن  سَبِيلِهِۦٓ  إِنَّهُمْ  سَآءَ  مَا  كَانُوا۟  يَعْمَلُونَ ishtaraw bi‑āyāti allāhi thamanan qalīlan fa‑ṣaddū ʿan sabīlihi innahum sāa kānū yaʿmalūna

Let them bear, on the Day of Judgment, their own burdens in full, and also (something) of the burdens of those without knowledge, whom they misled. Alas, how grievous the burdens they will bear!

إِنْ  أَحْسَنتُمْ  أَحْسَنتُمْ  لِأَنفُسِكُمْ  وَإِنْ  أَسَأْتُمْ  فَلَهَا  فَإِذَا  جَآءَ  وَعْدُ  ٱلْأَخِرَةِ  لِيَسُۥٓـُٔوا۟  وُجُوهَكُمْ  وَلِيَدْخُلُوا۟  ٱلْمَسْجِدَ  كَمَا  دَخَلُوهُ  أَوَّلَ  مَرَّةٍ  وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا۟  مَا  عَلَوْا۟  تَتْبِيرًا in aḥsantum aḥsantum li‑anfusikum wa‑in asaʾtum fa‑lahā fa‑idhā jāa waʿdu l‑akhirati li‑yasuʾū wujūhakum wa‑li‑yadkhulū l‑masjida ka‑mā dakhalūhu awwala marratin wa‑li‑yutabbirū ʿalaw tatbīran
If ye did well, ye did well for yourselves; if ye did evil, (ye did it) against yourselves. So when the second of the warnings came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to disfigure your faces, and to enter your Temple as they had entered it before, and to visit with destruction all that fell into their power.
(17:32)

Say, "The truth is from your Lord": Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it): for the wrong-doers We have prepared a Fire whose (smoke and flames), like the walls and roof of a tent, will hem them in: if they implore relief they will be granted water like melted brass, that will scald their faces, how dreadful the drink! How uncomfortable a couch to recline on!

ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟  أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ  جُنَّةً  فَصَدُّوا۟  عَن  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  إِنَّهُمْ  سَآءَ  مَا  كَانُوا۟  يَعْمَلُونَ ittakhadhū aymānahum junnatan fa‑ṣaddū ʿan sabīli allāhi innahum sāa kānū yaʿmalūna
They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the Path of Allah: truly evil are their deeds.

Surah 67 al-Mulk (The Kingdom)
(67:27)

فَلَمَّا  رَأَوْهُ  زُلْفَةً  سِيٓـَٔتْ  وُجُوهُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  وَقِيلَ  هَٰذَا  ٱلَّذِى  كُنتُم  بِهِۦ  تَدَّعُونَ fa‑lammā raʾawhu zulfatan sīʾat wujūhu lladhīna kafarū wa‑qīla hādhā alladhī kuntum bihi taddaʿūna
At length, when they see it close at hand, grieved will be the faces of the Unbelievers, and it will be said (to them): "This is (the promise fulfilled), which ye were calling for!"
