Sura al-Baqara 2:16

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ فَمَا رَبِحَت تِّجَٰرَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ

ulāʾika lladhīna ishtarawu l-ḍalālata bil-hudā fa-mā rabiḥat tijāratuhum wa-mā kānū muhtadīna

These are they who have bartered Guidance for error: But their traffic is profitless, and they have lost true direction,

Sura al-Baqara 2:41

وَءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلْتُ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ وَلَا تَكُونُوٓا۟ أَوَّلَ كَافِرٍۭ بِهِۦ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا وَإِيَّٰىَ فَٱتَّقُونِ

wa-āminū bimā anzaltu muṣaddiqan li-mā maʿakum wa-lā takūnū awwala kāfirin bihi wa-lā tashtarū bi-āyāti thamanan qalīlan wa-iyyāya fa-attaqūni

And believe in what I reveal, confirming the revelation which is with you, and be not the first to reject Faith therein, nor sell My Signs for a small price; and fear Me, and Me alone.

Sura al-Baqara 2:79

فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّـهِ لِيَشْتَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا فَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ

fa-waylun li-lladhīna yaktubūna l-kitāba bi-aydīhim thumma yaqūlūna hādhā min ʿindi allāhi li-yashtarū bihi thamanan qalīlan fa-waylun lahum mimmā katabat aydīhim wa-waylun lahum mimmā yaksibūna

Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say:"This is from Allah," to traffic with it for miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby.

Sura al-Baqara 2:86

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ

ulāʾika lladhīna ishtarawu l-ḥayāta l-dunyā bil-akhirati fa-lā yukhaffafu ʿanhumu l-ʿadhābu wa-lā hum yunṣarūna

These are the people who buy the life of this world at the price of the Hereafter: their penalty shall not be lightened nor shall they be helped.

Sura al-Baqara 2:90

بِئْسَمَا ٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَنفُسَهُمْ أَن يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ بَغْيًا أَن يُنَزِّلَ ٱللَّـهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ فَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ عَلَىٰ غَضَبٍ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

biʾsamā ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfurū bimā anzala allāhu baghyan an yunazzila allāhu min faḍlihi ʿalā man yashāʾu min ʿibādihi fa-bāʾū bighaḍabin ʿalā ghaḍabin wa-lil-kāfirīna ʿadhābun muhīnun

Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith.

Sura al-Baqara 2:102

وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَا تَتْلُوا۟ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ عَلَىٰ مُلْكِ سُلَيْمَٰنَ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمَٰنُ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُعَلِّمُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ ٱلسِّحْرَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَى ٱلْمَلَكَيْنِ بِبَابِلَ هَٰرُوتَ وَمَٰرُوتَ وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَآ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلَا تَكْفُرْ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِهِۦ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِهِۦ وَمَا هُم بِضَآرِّينَ بِهِۦ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا۟ لَمَنِ ٱشْتَرَىٰهُ مَا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَٰقٍ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَنفُسَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-ittabaʿū mā tatlū l-shayāṭīnu ʿalā mulki sulaymāna wa-mā kafara sulaymānu wa-lākinna l-shayāṭīna kafarū yuʿallimūna l-nāsa l-siḥra wa-mā unzila ʿalā l-malakayni bi-bābila hārūta wa-mārūta wa-mā yuʿallimāni min aḥadin ḥattā yaqūlā innamā naḥnu fitnatun fa-lā takfur fa-yataʿallamūna minhumā mā yufarriqūna bihi bayna l-mari wa-zawjihi wa-mā hum bi-ḍārrīna bihi min aḥadin illā bi-idhni allāhi wa-yataʿallamūna mā yaḍurruhum wa-lā yanfaʿuhum wa-la-qad ʿalimū lamani ishtarāhu mā lahu fī l-akhirati min khalāqin wa-la-biʾsa mā sharaw bihi anfusahum law kānū yaʿlamūna

They followed what the evil ones gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon: the blasphemers Were, not Solomon, but the evil ones, teaching men Magic, and such things as came down at babylon to the angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught anyone (Such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls, if they but knew!

Sura al-Baqara 2:174

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَيَشْتَرُونَ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِى بُطُونِهِمْ إِلَّا ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

inna lladhīna yaktumūna mā anzala allāhu mina l-kitābi wa-yashtarūna bihi thamanan qalīlan ulāʾika mā yaʾkulūna fī buṭūnihim illā l-nāra wa-lā yukallimuhumu allāhu yawma l-qiyāmati wa-lā yuzakkīhim wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun

Those who conceal Allah's revelations in the Book, and purchase for them a miserable profit,- they swallow into themselves naught but Fire; Allah will not address them on the Day of Resurrection. Nor purify them: Grievous will be their penalty.

Sura al-Baqara 2:175

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَٱلْعَذَابَ بِٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ فَمَآ أَصْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ

ulāʾika lladhīna ishtarawu l-ḍalālata bil-hudā wa-l-ʿadhāba bil-maghfirati fa-mā aṣbarahum ʿalā l-nāri

They are the ones who buy Error in place of Guidance and Torment in place of Forgiveness. Ah! what boldness (They show) for the Fire!

Sura al-Baqara 2:207

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَشْرِى نَفْسَهُ ٱبْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ رَءُوفٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ

wa-mina l-nāsi man yashrī nafsahu ibtighāʾa marḍāti allāhi wallāhu raʾūfun bil-ʿibādi

And there is the type of man who gives his life to earn the pleasure of Allah: And Allah is full of kindness to (His) devotees.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:77

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّـهِ وَأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَا خَلَٰقَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَا يَنظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

inna lladhīna yashtarūna biʿahdi allāhi wa-aymānihim thamanan qalīlan ulāʾika lā khalāqa lahum fī l-akhirati wa-lā yukallimuhumu allāhu wa-lā yanẓuru ilayhim yawma l-qiyāmati wa-lā yuzakkīhim wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun

As for those who sell the faith they owe to Allah and their own plighted word for a small price, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter: Nor will Allah (Deign to) speak to them or look at them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He cleans them (of sin): They shall have a grievous penalty.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:177

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلْكُفْرَ بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

inna lladhīna ishtarawu l-kufra bi-l-īmāni lan yaḍurrū allāha shayʾan wa-lahum ʿadhābun alīmun

Those who purchase Unbelief at the price of faith,- not the least harm will they do to Allah, but they will have a grievous punishment.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:187

وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّـهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُۥ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُونَهُۥ فَنَبَذُوهُ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ وَٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا فَبِئْسَ مَا يَشْتَرُونَ

wa-idh akhadha allāhu mīthāqa lladhīna ūtū l-kitāba latubayyinunnahu lil-nāsi wa-lā taktumūnahu fanabadhūhu wa-rāʾa ẓuhūrihim wa-ashtaraw bihi thamanan qalīlan fa-biʾsa mā yashtarūna

And remember Allah took a covenant from the People of the Book, to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it; but they threw it away behind their backs, and purchased with it some miserable gain! And vile was the bargain they made!

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:199

وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَمَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ خَٰشِعِينَ لِلَّـهِ لَا يَشْتَرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ

wa-inna min ahli l-kitābi laman yuʾminū billāhi wa-mā unzila ilaykum wa-mā unzila ilayhim khāshiʿīna lillāhi lā yashtarūna bi-āyāti allāhi thamanan qalīlan ulāʾika lahum ajruhum ʿinda rabbihim inna allāha sarīʿu l-ḥisābi

And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book, those who believe in Allah, in the revelation to you, and in the revelation to them, bowing in humility to Allah: They will not sell the Signs of Allah for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and Allah is swift in account.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:44

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ يَشْتَرُونَ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِيلَ

a-lam tara ilā lladhīna ūtū naṣīban mina l-kitābi yashtarūna l-ḍalālata wa-yurīdūna an taḍillū l-sabīla

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were given a portion of the Book? they traffic in error, and wish that ye should lose the right path.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:74

فَلْيُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَمَن يُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَيُقْتَلْ أَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

fa-l-yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi lladhīna yashrūna l-ḥayāta l-dunyā bil-akhirati wa-man yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi fa-yuqtal aw yaghlib fa-sawfa nuʾtīhi ajran ʿaẓīman

Let those fight in the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah,- whether he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great (value).

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:44

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ فِيهَا هُدًى وَنُورٌ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلرَّبَّٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟ مِن كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّـهِ وَكَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَآءَ فَلَا تَخْشَوُا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱخْشَوْنِ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

innā anzalnā l-tawrāta fīhā hudan wa-nūrun yaḥkumu bihā l-nabiyyūna lladhīna aslamū li-lladhīna hādū wa-l-rabbānīyūna wa-l-aḥbāru bi-mā istuḥfiẓū min kitābi allāhi wakānū ʿalayhi shuhadāʾa fa-lā takhshawu l-nāsa wakhshawni wa-lā tashtarū bi-āyāti thamanan qalīlan wa-man lam yaḥkum bimā anzala allāhu fa-ūlāʾika humu l-kāfirūna

It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:106

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ شَهَٰدَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ حِينَ ٱلْوَصِيَّةِ ٱثْنَانِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ أَوْ ءَاخَرَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ إِنْ أَنتُمْ ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَصَٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ تَحْبِسُونَهُمَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِٱللَّـهِ إِنِ ٱرْتَبْتُمْ لَا نَشْتَرِى بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ وَلَا نَكْتُمُ شَهَٰدَةَ ٱللَّـهِ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْأَثِمِينَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū shahādatu baynikum idhā ḥaḍara aḥadakumu l-mawtu ḥīna l-waṣīyati ithnāni dhawā ʿadlin minkum aw ākharāni min ghayrikum in antum ḍarabtum fī l-arḍi fa-aṣābatkum muṣībatu l-mawti taḥbisūnahumā min baʿdi l-ṣalawti fa-yuqsimāni billāhi ini irtabtum lā nashtarī bihi thamanan wa-law kāna dhā qurba wa-lā naktumu shahādata allāhi innā idhan la-mina l-athimīna

O ye who believe! When death approaches any of you, (take) witnesses among yourselves when making bequests,- two just men of your own (brotherhood) or others from outside if ye are journeying through the earth, and the chance of death befalls you (thus). If ye doubt (their truth), detain them both after prayer, and let them both swear by Allah: "We wish not in this for any worldly gain, even though the (beneficiary) be our near relation: we shall hide not the evidence before Allah: if we do, then behold! the sin be upon us!"

Sura al-Tawbah 9:9

ٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦٓ إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

ishtaraw bi-āyāti allāhi thamanan qalīlan fa-ṣaddū ʿan sabīlihi innahum sāa mā kānū yaʿmalūna

The Signs of Allah have they sold for a miserable price, and (many) have they hindered from His way: evil indeed are the deeds they have done.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:111

إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ فَٱسْتَبْشِرُوا۟ بِبَيْعِكُمُ ٱلَّذِى بَايَعْتُم بِهِۦ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

inna allāha ishtarā mina l-muʾminīna anfusahum wa-amwālahum bi-anna lahumu l-jannata yuqātilūna fī sabīli allāhi fa-yaqtulūna wa-yuqtalūna waʿdan ʿalayhi ḥaqqan fī l-tawrāti wa-l-injīli wa-l-qurʾāni wa-man awfā biʿahdihi mina allāhi fa-istabshirū bi-bayʿikumu alladhī bāyaʿtum bihi wa-dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu

Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.

Sura Yūsuf 12:20

وَشَرَوْهُ بِثَمَنٍۭ بَخْسٍ دَرَٰهِمَ مَعْدُودَةٍ وَكَانُوا۟ فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلزَّٰهِدِينَ

wa-sharawhu bi-thamanin bakhsin darāhima maʿdūdatin wa-kānū fīhi mina l-zāhidīna

The (Brethren) sold him for a miserable price, for a few dirhams counted out: in such low estimation did they hold him!

Sura Yūsuf 12:21

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِى ٱشْتَرَىٰهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لِٱمْرَأَتِهِۦٓ أَكْرِمِى مَثْوَىٰهُ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَنفَعَنَآ أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُۥ وَلَدًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُۥ مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ وَٱللَّـهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرِهِۦ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

wa-qāla alladhī ishtarāhu min miṣra li-imraʾatihi akrimī mathwahu ʿasā an yanfaʿanā aw nattakhidhahu waladan wa-ka-dhālika makkannā li-yūsufa fī l-arḍi wa-linuʿallimahu min taʾwīli l-aḥādīthi wallāhu ghālibun ʿala amrihi wa-lākinna akthara l-nāsi lā yaʿlamūna

The man in Egypt who bought him, said to his wife: "Make his stay (among us) honourable: may be he will bring us much good, or we shall adopt him as a son." Thus did We establish Joseph in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of stories (and events). And Allah hath full power and control over His affairs; but most among mankind know it not.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:95

وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّـهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا إِنَّمَا عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

wa-lā tashtarū biʿahdi allāhi thamanan qalīlan innamā ʿinda allāhi huwa khayrun la-kum in kuntum taʿlamūna

Nor sell the covenant of Allah for a miserable price: for with Allah is (a prize) far better for you, if ye only knew.

Sura Luqmān 31:6

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَشْتَرِى لَهْوَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

wa-mina l-nāsi man yashtarī lahwa l-ḥadīthi li-yuḍilla ʿan sabīli allāhi bi-ghayri ʿilmin wa-yattakhidhahā huzuwan ulāʾika lahum ʿadhābun muhīnun

But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty.
