Sura al-Baqara 2:20

يَكَادُ ٱلْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ كُلَّمَآ أَضَآءَ لَهُم مَّشَوْا۟ فِيهِ وَإِذَآ أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُوا۟ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

yakādu l-barqu yakhṭafu abṣārahum kullamā aḍāʾa lahum mashaw fīhi wa-idhā aẓlama ʿalayhim qāmū wa-law shāʾa allāhu la-dhahaba bisamʿihim wa-abṣārihim inna allāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

The lightning all but snatches away their sight; every time the light (Helps) them, they walk therein, and when the darkness grows on them, they stand still. And if Allah willed, He could take away their faculty of hearing and seeing; for Allah hath power over all things.

Sura al-Baqara 2:70

قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ إِنَّ ٱلْبَقَرَ تَشَٰبَهَ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنَّآ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَمُهْتَدُونَ

qālū idʿu la-nā rabbaka yubayyin lanā mā hiya inna l-baqara tashābaha ʿalaynā wa-innā in shāʾa allāhu la-muhtadūna

They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us what she is: To us are all heifers alike: We wish indeed for guidance, if Allah wills."

Sura al-Baqara 2:90

بِئْسَمَا ٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَنفُسَهُمْ أَن يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ بَغْيًا أَن يُنَزِّلَ ٱللَّـهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ فَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ عَلَىٰ غَضَبٍ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ

biʾsamā ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfurū bimā anzala allāhu baghyan an yunazzila allāhu min faḍlihi ʿalā man yashāʾu min ʿibādihi fa-bāʾū bighaḍabin ʿalā ghaḍabin wa-lil-kāfirīna ʿadhābun muhīnun

Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith.

Sura al-Baqara 2:105

مَّا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَلَا ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

mā yawaddu lladhīna kafarū min ahli l-kitābi wa-lā l-mushrikīna an yunazzala ʿalaykum min khayrin min rabbikum wallāhu yakhtaṣṣu bi-raḥmatihi man yashāʾu wallāhu dhū l-faḍli l-ʿaẓīmi

It is never the wish of those without Faith among the People of the Book, nor of the Pagans, that anything good should come down to you from your Lord. But Allah will choose for His special Mercy whom He will - for Allah is Lord of grace abounding.

Sura al-Baqara 2:142

سَيَقُولُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَا وَلَّىٰهُمْ عَن قِبْلَتِهِمُ ٱلَّتِى كَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهَا قُل لِلَّـهِ ٱلْمَشْرِقُ وَٱلْمَغْرِبُ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

sa-yaqūlu l-sufahāʾu mina l-nāsi mā wallāhum ʿan qiblatihimu allatī kānū ʿalayhā qul lillāhi l-mashriqu wa-l-maghribu yahdī man yashāʾu ilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin

The fools among the people will say: "What hath turned them from the Qibla to which they were used?" Say: To Allah belong both east and West: He guideth whom He will to a Way that is straight.

Sura al-Baqara 2:212

زُيِّنَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَٱللَّـهُ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

zuyyina li-lladhīna kafarū l-ḥayātu l-dunyā wa-yaskharūna mina lladhīna āmanū wa-lladhīna ittaqaw fawqahum yawma l-qiyāmati wallāhu yarzuqu man yashāʾu bi-ghayri ḥisābin

The life of this world is alluring to those who reject faith, and they scoff at those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection; for Allah bestows His abundance without measure on whom He will.

Sura al-Baqara 2:213

كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ وَأَنزَلَ مَعَهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فِيمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفَ فِيهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ فَهَدَى ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لِمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَٱللَّـهُ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

kāna l-nāsu ummatan wāḥidatan fa-baʿatha allāhu l-nabiyyina mubashshirīna wa-mundhirīna wa-anzala maʿahumu l-kitāba bil-ḥaqqi li-yaḥkuma bayna l-nāsi fī-mā akhtalafū fīhi wa-mā ikhtalafa fīhi illā lladhīna ūtūhu min baʿdi mā jāʾathumu l-bayyinātu baghyan baynahum fa-hadā allāhu lladhīna āmanū li-mā akhtalafū fīhi mina l-ḥaqqi bi-idhnihi wallāhu yahdī man yashāʾu ilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin

Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight.

Sura al-Baqara 2:220

فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ قُلْ إِصْلَاحٌ لَّهُمْ خَيْرٌ وَإِن تُخَالِطُوهُمْ فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْمُفْسِدَ مِنَ ٱلْمُصْلِحِ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَأَعْنَتَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

fī l-dunyā wa-l-akhirati wa-yasʾalūnaka ʿani l-yatāmā qul iṣlāḥun lahum khayrun wa-in tukhāliṭūhum fa-ikhwānukum wallāhu yaʿlamu l-mufsida mina l-muṣliḥi wa-law shāʾa allāhu la-aʿnatakum inna allāha ʿazīzun ḥakīmun

(Their bearings) on this life and the Hereafter. They ask thee concerning orphans. Say: "The best thing to do is what is for their good; if ye mix their affairs with yours, they are your brethren; but Allah knows the man who means mischief from the man who means good. And if Allah had wished, He could have put you into difficulties: He is indeed Exalted in Power, Wise."

Sura al-Baqara 2:247

وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ قَدْ بَعَثَ لَكُمْ طَالُوتَ مَلِكًا قَالُوٓا۟ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ أَحَقُّ بِٱلْمُلْكِ مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُؤْتَ سَعَةً مِّنَ ٱلْمَالِ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱصْطَفَىٰهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَزَادَهُۥ بَسْطَةً فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ وَٱلْجِسْمِ وَٱللَّـهُ يُؤْتِى مُلْكَهُۥ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

wa-qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna allāha qad baʿatha la-kum ṭālūta malikan qālū annā yakūnu lahu l-mulku ʿalaynā wa-naḥnu aḥaqqu bil-mulki minhu wa-lam yuʾtā saʿatan mina l-māli qalā inna allāha iṣṭafāhu ʿalaykum wa-zādahu basṭatan fī l-ʿilmi wa-l-jismi wallāhu yuʾtī mulkahu man yashāʾu wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun

Their Prophet said to them: "Allah hath appointed Talut as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "Allah hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things."

Sura al-Baqara 2:251

فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمُلْكَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا يَشَآءُ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

fa-hazamūhum bi-idhni allāhi wa-qatala dāwudu jālūta wa-ātahu allāhu l-mulka wa-l-ḥikmata wa-ʿallamahu mimmā yashāʾu wa-lawlā dafʿu allāhi l-nāsa baʿḍahum bi-baʿḍin la-fasadati l-arḍu wa-lākinna allāha dhū faḍlin ʿalā l-ʿālamīna

By Allah's will they routed them; and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him power and wisdom and taught him whatever (else) He willed. And did not Allah Check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief: But Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds.

Sura al-Baqara 2:253

تِلْكَ ٱلرُّسُلُ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ مِّنْهُم مَّن كَلَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ وَرَفَعَ بَعْضَهُمْ دَرَجَٰتٍ وَءَاتَيْنَا عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَأَيَّدْنَٰهُ بِرُوحِ ٱلْقُدُسِ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ مَا ٱقْتَتَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ وَلَٰكِنِ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ ءَامَنَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن كَفَرَ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ مَا ٱقْتَتَلُوا۟ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يُرِيدُ

tilka l-rusulu faḍḍalnā baʿḍahum ʿalā baʿḍin minhum man kallama allāhu wa-rafaʿa baʿḍahum darajātin wa-ātaynā ʿīsā ibna maryama l-bayyināti wa-ayyadnāhu bi-rūḥi l-qudusi wa-law shāʾa allāhu mā qtatala lladhīna min baʿdihim min baʿdi mā jāʾathumu l-bayyinātu wa-lākini akhtalafū fa-minhum man āmana wa-minhum man kafara wa-law shāʾa allāhu mā iqtatalū wa-lākinna allāha yafʿalu mā yurīdu

Those messengers We endowed with gifts, some above others: To one of them Allah spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honour); to Jesus the son of Mary We gave clear (Signs), and strengthened him with the holy spirit. If Allah had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after clear (Signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If Allah had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but Allah Fulfilleth His plan.

Sura al-Baqara 2:255

ٱللَّـهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْحَىُّ ٱلْقَيُّومُ لَا تَأْخُذُهُۥ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ لَّهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِۦ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَىْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَلَا يَـُٔودُهُۥ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ ٱلْعَلِىُّ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa l-ḥayyu l-qayyūmu lā takhudhuhu sinatun wa-lā nawmun lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-arḍi man dhā alladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi-idhnihi yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa-mā khalfahum wa-lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shayʾin min ʿilmihi illā bi-mā shāʾa wasiʿa kursīyuhu l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍa wa-lā yaʾūduhu ḥifẓuhumā wa-huwa l-ʿaliyyu l-ʿaẓīmu

Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

Sura al-Baqara 2:261

مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنۢبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ فِى كُلِّ سُنۢبُلَةٍ مِّا۟ئَةُ حَبَّةٍ وَٱللَّـهُ يُضَٰعِفُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

mathalu lladhīna yunfiqūna amwālahum fī sabīli allāhi ka-mathali ḥabbatin anbatat sabʿa sanābila fī kulli sunbulatin miatu ḥabbatin wallāhu yuḍāʿifu li-man yashāʾu wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun

The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.

Sura al-Baqara 2:269

يُؤْتِى ٱلْحِكْمَةَ مَن يَشَآءُ وَمَن يُؤْتَ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ فَقَدْ أُوتِىَ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّآ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ

yuʾtī l-ḥikmata man yashāʾu wa-man yuʾtā l-ḥikmata fa-qad ūtiya khayran kathīran wa-mā yadhdhakkaru illā ūlū l-albābi

He granteth wisdom to whom He pleaseth; and he to whom wisdom is granted receiveth indeed a benefit overflowing; but none will grasp the Message but men of understanding.

Sura al-Baqara 2:272

لَّيْسَ عَلَيْكَ هُدَىٰهُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَلِأَنفُسِكُمْ وَمَا تُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ

laysa ʿalayka hudahum wa-lākinna allāha yahdī man yashāʾu wa-mā tunfiqū min khayrin fa-li-anfusikum wa-mā tunfiqūna illā ibtighāʾa wajhi allāhi wa-mā tunfiqū min khayrin yuwaffa ilaykum wa-antum lā tuẓlamūna

It is not required of thee (O Messenger), to set them on the right path, but Allah sets on the right path whom He pleaseth. Whatever of good ye give benefits your own souls, and ye shall only do so seeking the "Face" of Allah. Whatever good ye give, shall be rendered back to you, and ye shall not Be dealt with unjustly.

Sura al-Baqara 2:284

لِلَّـهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِن تُبْدُوا۟ مَا فِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُم بِهِ ٱللَّـهُ فَيَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

lillāhi mā fī l-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-arḍi wa-in tubdū mā fī anfusikum aw tukhfūhu yuḥāsibkum bihi allāhu fayaghfiru li-man yashāʾu wa-yuʿadhdhibu man yashāʾu wallāhu ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

To Allah belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth. Whether ye show what is in your minds or conceal it, Allah Calleth you to account for it. He forgiveth whom He pleaseth, and punisheth whom He pleaseth, for Allah hath power over all things.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:6

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُصَوِّرُكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْحَامِ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

huwa alladhī yuṣawwirukum fī l-arḥāmi kayfa yashāʾu lā ilāha illā huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu

He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:13

قَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ ءَايَةٌ فِى فِئَتَيْنِ ٱلْتَقَتَا فِئَةٌ تُقَٰتِلُ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَأُخْرَىٰ كَافِرَةٌ يَرَوْنَهُم مِّثْلَيْهِمْ رَأْىَ ٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱللَّـهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصْرِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ

qad kāna la-kum āyatun fī fiʾatayni ltaqatā fiʾatun tuqātilu fī sabīli allāhi wa-ukhrā kāfiratun yarawnahum mithlayhim raʾya l-ʿayni wallāhu yuʾayyidu binaṣrihi man yashāʾu inna fī dhālika la-ʿibratan li-lūlī l-abṣāri

"There has already been for you a Sign in the two armies that met (in combat): One was fighting in the cause of Allah, the other resisting Allah; these saw with their own eyes Twice their number. But Allah doth support with His aid whom He pleaseth. In this is a warning for such as have eyes to see."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:26

قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ مَٰلِكَ ٱلْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِى ٱلْمُلْكَ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَنزِعُ ٱلْمُلْكَ مِمَّن تَشَآءُ وَتُعِزُّ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَن تَشَآءُ بِيَدِكَ ٱلْخَيْرُ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

quli l-lahumma mālika l-mulki tutī l-mulka man tashāʾu wa-tanziʿu l-mulka mimman tashāʾu wa-tuʿizzu man tashāʾu wa-tudhillu man tashāʾu bi-yadika l-khayru innaka ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

Say: "O Allah! Lord of Power (And Rule), Thou givest power to whom Thou pleasest, and Thou strippest off power from whom Thou pleasest: Thou enduest with honour whom Thou pleasest, and Thou bringest low whom Thou pleasest: In Thy hand is all good. Verily, over all things Thou hast power.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:27

تُولِجُ ٱلَّيْلَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَتُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِ وَتُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ وَتُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَيِّتَ مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ وَتَرْزُقُ مَن تَشَآءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

tūliju l-layla fī l-nahāri wa-tūliju l-nahāra fī l-layli wa-tukhriju l-ḥayya mina l-mayyiti wa-tukhriju l-mayyita mina l-ḥayyi wa-tarzuqu man tashāʾu bi-ghayri ḥisābin

"Thou causest the night to gain on the day, and thou causest the day to gain on the night; Thou bringest the Living out of the dead, and Thou bringest the dead out of the Living; and Thou givest sustenance to whom Thou pleasest, without measure."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:37

فَتَقَبَّلَهَا رَبُّهَا بِقَبُولٍ حَسَنٍ وَأَنۢبَتَهَا نَبَاتًا حَسَنًا وَكَفَّلَهَا زَكَرِيَّا كُلَّمَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا زَكَرِيَّا ٱلْمِحْرَابَ وَجَدَ عِندَهَا رِزْقًا قَالَ يَٰمَرْيَمُ أَنَّىٰ لَكِ هَٰذَا قَالَتْ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّـهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

fa-taqabbalahā rabbuhā bi-qabūlin ḥasanin wa-anbatahā nabātan ḥasanan wa-kaffalahā zakariyyā kullamā dakhala ʿalayhā zakariyyā l-miḥrāba wajada ʿindahā rizqan qalā yā-maryamu annā laki hādhā qālat huwa min ʿindi allāhi inna allāha yarzuqu man yashāʾu bi-ghayri ḥisābin

Right graciously did her Lord accept her: He made her grow in purity and beauty: To the care of Zakariya was she assigned. Every time that he entered (Her) chamber to see her, He found her supplied with sustenance. He said: "O Mary! Whence (comes) this to you?" She said: "From Allah: for Allah Provides sustenance to whom He pleases without measure."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:40

قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَٰمٌ وَقَدْ بَلَغَنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ وَٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرٌ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱللَّـهُ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَآءُ

qalā rabbi annā yakūnu lī ghulāmun wa-qad balaghaniya l-kibaru wa-imraʾatī ʿāqirun qalā ka-dhālika allāhu yafʿalu mā yashāʾu

He said: "O my Lord! How shall I have son, seeing I am very old, and my wife is barren?" "Thus," was the answer, "Doth Allah accomplish what He willeth."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:47

قَالَتْ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِى بَشَرٌ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ ٱللَّـهُ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ إِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ

qālat rabbi annā yakūnu lī waladun wa-lam yamsasnī basharun qalā ka-dhāliki allāhu yakhluqu mā yashāʾu idhā qaḍa amran fa-innamā yaqūlu lahu kun fa-yakūnu

She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth: When He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is!

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:73

وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِمَن تَبِعَ دِينَكُمْ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْهُدَىٰ هُدَى ٱللَّـهِ أَن يُؤْتَىٰٓ أَحَدٌ مِّثْلَ مَآ أُوتِيتُمْ أَوْ يُحَآجُّوكُمْ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّـهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

wa-lā tūʾminū illā li-man tabiʿa dīnakum qul inna l-hudā huda allāhi an yuʾtā aḥadun mithla mā ūtītum aw yuḥājjūkum ʿinda rabbikum qul inna l-faḍla bi-yadi allāhi yuʾtīhi man yashāʾu wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun

"And believe no one unless he follows your religion." Say: "True guidance is the Guidance of Allah: (Fear ye) Lest a revelation be sent to someone (else) Like unto that which was sent unto you? or that those (Receiving such revelation) should engage you in argument before your Lord?" Say: "All bounties are in the hand of Allah: He granteth them to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:74

يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

yakhtaṣṣu bi-raḥmatihi man yashāʾu wallāhu dhū l-faḍli l-ʿaẓīmi

For His Mercy He specially chooseth whom He pleaseth; for Allah is the Lord of bounties unbounded.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:129

وَلِلَّەِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

wa-lillahi mā fī l-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-arḍi yaghfiru li-man yashāʾu wa-yuʿadhdhibu man yashāʾu wallāhu ghafūrun raḥīmun

To Allah belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth. He forgiveth whom He pleaseth and punisheth whom He pleaseth; but Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:179

مَّا كَانَ ٱللَّـهُ لِيَذَرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّىٰ يَمِيزَ ٱلْخَبِيثَ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبِ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّـهُ لِيُطْلِعَكُمْ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يَجْتَبِى مِن رُّسُلِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَإِن تُؤْمِنُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَلَكُمْ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ

mā kāna allāhu li-yadhara l-muʾminīna ʿalā mā antum ʿalayhi ḥattā yamīza l-khabītha mina l-ṭayyibi wa-mā kāna allāhu li-yuṭliʿakum ʿalā l-ghaybi wa-lākinna allāha yajtabī min rrusulihi man yashāʾu fa-āminū billāhi wa-rusulihi wa-in tūʾminū wa-tattaqū fa-lakum ajrun ʿaẓīmun

Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which ye are now, until He separates what is evil from what is good nor will He disclose to you the secrets of the Unseen. But He chooses of His Messengers (For the purpose) whom He pleases. So believe in Allah. And His messengers: And if ye believe and do right, ye have a reward without measure.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:48

إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّـهِ فَقَدِ ٱفْتَرَىٰٓ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا

inna allāha lā yaghfiru an yushraka bihi wayaghfiru mā dūna dhālika li-man yashāʾu wa-man yushrik billāhi fa-qadi iftarā ithman ʿaẓīman

Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:49

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُم بَلِ ٱللَّـهُ يُزَكِّى مَن يَشَآءُ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا

a-lam tara ilā lladhīna yuzakkūna anfusahum bali allāhu yuzakkī man yashāʾu wa-lā yuẓlamūna fatīlan

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who claim sanctity for themselves? Nay-but Allah Doth sanctify whom He pleaseth. But never will they fail to receive justice in the least little thing.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:90

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ أَوْ جَآءُوكُمْ حَصِرَتْ صُدُورُهُمْ أَن يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ أَوْ يُقَٰتِلُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَسَلَّطَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَلَقَٰتَلُوكُمْ فَإِنِ ٱعْتَزَلُوكُمْ فَلَمْ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ وَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ فَمَا جَعَلَ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبِيلًا

illā lladhīna yaṣilūna ilā qawmin baynakum wa-baynahum mīthāqun aw jāʾūkum ḥaṣirat ṣudūruhum an yuqātilūkum aw yuqātilū qawmahum wa-law shāʾa allāhu la-sallaṭahum ʿalaykum fa-la-qātalūkum fa-ini iʿtazalūkum fa-lam yuqātilūkum wa-alqaw ilaykumu l-salama fa-mā jaʿala allāhu la-kum ʿalayhim sabīlan

Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:116

إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّـهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا

inna allāha lā yaghfiru an yushraka bihi wayaghfiru mā dūna dhālika li-man yashāʾu wa-man yushrik billāhi fa-qad ḍalla ḍalālan baʿīdan

Allah forgiveth not (The sin of) joining other gods with Him; but He forgiveth whom He pleaseth other sins than this: one who joins other gods with Allah, Hath strayed far, far away (from the right).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:133

إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِـَٔاخَرِينَ وَكَانَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ قَدِيرًا

in yashaʾ yudhhibkum ayyuhā l-nāsu wa-yaʾti bi-ākharīna wa-kāna allāhu ʿalā dhālika qadīran

If it were His will, He could destroy you, o mankind, and create another race; for He hath power this to do.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:17

لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ هُوَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُهْلِكَ ٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَلِلَّەِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

llaqad kafara lladhīna qālū inna allāha huwa l-masīḥu ibnu maryama qul fa-man yamliku mina allāhi shayʾan in arāda an yuhlika l-masīḥa ibna maryama wa-ummahu wa-man fī l-arḍi jamīʿan wa-lillahi mulku l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-mā baynahumā yakhluqu mā yashāʾu wallāhu ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: "Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every - one that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things."

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:18

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰ نَحْنُ أَبْنَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱللَّـهِ وَأَحِبَّٰٓؤُهُۥ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُم بِذُنُوبِكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بَشَرٌ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَلِلَّەِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

wa-qālati l-yahūdu wa-l-naṣārā naḥnu abnāʾu allāhi wa-aḥibbāʾuhu qul falima yuʿadhdhibukum bi-dhunūbikum bal antum basharun mimman khalaqa yaghfiru li-man yashāʾu wa-yuʿadhdhibu man yashāʾu wa-lillahi mulku l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-mā baynahumā wa-ilayhi l-maṣīru

(Both) the Jews and the Christians say: "We are sons of Allah, and his beloved." Say: "Why then doth He punish you for your sins? Nay, ye are but men,- of the men he hath created: He forgiveth whom He pleaseth, and He punisheth whom He pleaseth: and to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between: and unto Him is the final goal (of all)"

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:40

أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

a-lam taʿlam annā allāha lahu mulku l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi yuʿadhdhibu man yashāʾu wa-yaghfiru li-man yashāʾu wallāhu ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

Knowest thou not that to Allah (alone) belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth? He punisheth whom He pleaseth, and He forgiveth whom He pleaseth: and Allah hath power over all things.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:48

وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِى مَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ إِلَى ٱللَّـهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ

wa-anzalnā ilayka l-kitāba bil-ḥaqqi muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi mina l-kitābi wa-muhayminan ʿalayhi fa-aḥkum baynahum bimā anzala allāhu wa-lā tattabiʿ ahwāʾahum ʿammā jāʾaka mina l-ḥaqqi li-kullin jaʿalnā minkum shirʿatan wa-minhājan wa-law shāʾa allāhu lajaʿalakum ummatan wāḥidatan wa-lākin li-yabluwakum fī mā ātakum fa-istabiqū l-khayrāti ilā allāhi marjiʿukum jamīʿan fa-yunabbiʾukum bi-mā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūna

To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:54

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَن يَرْتَدَّ مِنكُمْ عَن دِينِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِى ٱللَّـهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُۥٓ أَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ يُجَٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَآئِمٍ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّـهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّـهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū man yartadda minkum ʿan dīnihi fa-sawfa yaʾtī allāhu biqawmin yuḥibbuhum wa-yuḥibbūnahu adhillatin ʿalā l-muʾminīna aʿizzatin ʿalā l-kāfirīna yujāhidūna fī sabīli allāhi wa-lā yakhāfūna lawmata lāʾimin dhālika faḍlu allāhi yuʾtīhi man yashāʾu wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun

O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him,- lowly with the believers, mighty against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the reproaches of such as find fault. That is the grace of Allah, which He will bestow on whom He pleaseth. And Allah encompasseth all, and He knoweth all things.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:64

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ يَدُ ٱللَّـهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا۟ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ يُنفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَٰنًا وَكُفْرًا وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ كُلَّمَآ أَوْقَدُوا۟ نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا ٱللَّـهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا وَٱللَّـهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

waqālati l-yahūdu yadu allāhi maghlūlatun ghullat aydīhim wa-luʿinū bi-mā qālū bal yadāhu mabsūṭatāni yunfiqu kayfa yashāʾu wa-la-yazīdanna kathīran minhum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭughyānan wa-kufran wa-l-qaynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wa-l-baghḍāʾa ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati kullamā awqadū nāran lil-ḥarbi aṭfaʾahā allāhu wa-yasʿawna fī l-arḍi fasādan wallāhu lā yuḥibbu l-mufsidīna

The Jews say: "Allah's hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:35

وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكَ إِعْرَاضُهُمْ فَإِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ أَن تَبْتَغِىَ نَفَقًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ سُلَّمًا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَأْتِيَهُم بِـَٔايَةٍ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَجَمَعَهُمْ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

wa-in kāna kabura ʿalayka iʿrāḍuhum fa-ini istaṭaʿta an tabtaghiya nafaqan fī l-arḍi aw sullaman fī l-samāʾi fa-taʾtiyahum bi-āyatin wa-law shāʾa allāhu lajamaʿahum ʿalā l-hudā fa-lā takūnanna mina l-jāhilīna

If their spurning is hard on thy mind, yet if thou wert able to seek a tunnel in the ground or a ladder to the skies and bring them a sign,- (what good?). If it were Allah's will, He could gather them together unto true guidance: so be not thou amongst those who are swayed by ignorance (and impatience)!

Sura al-Anʿām 6:39

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا صُمٌّ وَبُكْمٌ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ مَن يَشَإِ ٱللَّـهُ يُضْلِلْهُ وَمَن يَشَأْ يَجْعَلْهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

wa-lladhīna kadhdhabū bi-āyātinā ṣummun wa-bukmun fī l-ẓulumāti man yashaʾi allāhu yuḍlilhu wa-man yashaʾ yajʿalhu ʿalā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin

Those who reject our signs are deaf and dumb,- in the midst of darkness profound: whom Allah willeth, He leaveth to wander: whom He willeth, He placeth on the way that is straight.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:41

بَلْ إِيَّاهُ تَدْعُونَ فَيَكْشِفُ مَا تَدْعُونَ إِلَيْهِ إِن شَآءَ وَتَنسَوْنَ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ

bal iyyāhu tadʿūna fa-yakshifu mā tadʿūna ilayhi in shāʾa wa-tansawna mā tushrikūna

"Nay,- On Him would ye call, and if it be His will, He would remove (the distress) which occasioned your call upon Him, and ye would forget (the false gods) which ye join with Him!"

Sura al-Anʿām 6:80

وَحَآجَّهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ قَالَ أَتُحَٰٓجُّوٓنِّى فِى ٱللَّـهِ وَقَدْ هَدَىٰنِ وَلَآ أَخَافُ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ رَبِّى شَيْـًٔا وَسِعَ رَبِّى كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ

waḥājjahu qawmuhu qalā atuḥājjūnnī fī allāhi wa-qad hadani wa-lā akhāfu mā tushrikūna bihi illā an yashāʾa rabbī shayʾan wasiʿa rabbī kulla shayʾin ʿilman a-fa-lā tatadhakkarūna

His people disputed with him. He said: "(Come) ye to dispute with me, about Allah, when He (Himself) hath guided me? I fear not (the beings) ye associate with Allah: Unless my Lord willeth, (nothing can happen). My Lord comprehendeth in His knowledge all things. Will ye not (yourselves) be admonished?

Sura al-Anʿām 6:88

ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّـهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

dhālika huda allāhi yahdī bihi man yashāʾu min ʿibādihi wa-law ashrakū la-ḥabiṭa ʿanhum mā kānū yaʿmalūna

This is the guidance of Allah: He giveth that guidance to whom He pleaseth, of His worshippers. If they were to join other gods with Him, all that they did would be vain for them.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:107

وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ مَآ أَشْرَكُوا۟ وَمَا جَعَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ

wa-law shāʾa allāhu mā ashrakū wa-mā jaʿalnāka ʿalayhim ḥafīẓan wa-mā anta ʿalayhim bi-wakīlin

If it had been Allah's plan, they would not have taken false gods: but We made thee not one to watch over their doings, nor art thou set over them to dispose of their affairs.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:111

وَلَوْ أَنَّنَا نَزَّلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَحَشَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ قُبُلًا مَّا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ

wa-law annanā nazzalnā ilayhimu l-malāikata wa-kallamahumu l-mawtā wa-ḥasharnā ʿalayhim kulla shayʾin qubulan mā kānū li-yuʾminū illā an yashāʾa allāhu wa-lākinna aktharahum yajhalūna

Even if We did send unto them angels, and the dead did speak unto them, and We gathered together all things before their very eyes, they are not the ones to believe, unless it is in Allah's plan. But most of them ignore (the truth).

Sura al-Anʿām 6:112

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِىٍّ عَدُوًّا شَيَٰطِينَ ٱلْإِنسِ وَٱلْجِنِّ يُوحِى بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ زُخْرُفَ ٱلْقَوْلِ غُرُورًا وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوهُ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ

wa-ka-dhālika jaʿalnā li-kulli nabiyyin ʿadūwan shayāṭīna l-insi wa-l-jinni yūḥī baʿḍuhum ilā baʿḍin zukhrufa l-qawli ghurūran wa-law shāʾa rabbuka mā faʿalūhu fa-dharhum wa-mā yaftarūna

Likewise did We make for every Messenger an enemy,- evil ones among men and jinns, inspiring each other with flowery discourses by way of deception. If thy Lord had so planned, they would not have done it: so leave them and their inventions alone.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:128

وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا يَٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ قَدِ ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ رَبَّنَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَآ أَجَلَنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَجَّلْتَ لَنَا قَالَ ٱلنَّارُ مَثْوَىٰكُمْ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ

wa-yawma yaḥshuruhum jamīʿan yā-maʿshara l-jinni qadi istakthartum mina l-insi wa-qāla awlīāuhum mina l-insi rabbanā istamtaʿa baʿḍunā bi-baʿḍin wa-balaghnā ajalanā alladhī ajjalta la-nā qalā l-nāru mathwakum khālidīna fīhā illā mā shāʾa allāhu inna rabbaka ḥakīmun ʿalīmun

One day will He gather them all together, (and say): "O ye assembly of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take of men." Their friends amongst men will say: "Our Lord! we made profit from each other: but (alas!) we reached our term - which thou didst appoint for us." He will say: "The Fire be your dwelling-place: you will dwell therein for ever, except as Allah willeth." for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:133

وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ذُو ٱلرَّحْمَةِ إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ مِنۢ بَعْدِكُم مَّا يَشَآءُ كَمَآ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن ذُرِّيَّةِ قَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ

wa-rabbuka l-ghaniyyu dhū l-raḥmati in yashaʾ yudhhibkum wa-yastakhlif min baʿdikum mā yashāʾu ka-mā anshaʾakum min dhurriyyatī qawmin ākharīna

Thy Lord is self-sufficient, full of Mercy: if it were His will, He could destroy you, and in your place appoint whom He will as your successors, even as He raised you up from the posterity of other people.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:137

وَكَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَثِيرٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ قَتْلَ أَوْلَٰدِهِمْ شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ دِينَهُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ

wa-ka-dhālika zayyana likathīrin mina l-mushrikīna qatla awlādihim shurakāʾuhum li-yurdūhum wa-li-yalbisū ʿalayhim dīnahum wa-law shāʾa allāhu mā faʿalūhu fa-dharhum wa-mā yaftarūna

Even so, in the eyes of most of the pagans, their "partners" made alluring the slaughter of their children, in order to lead them to their own destruction, and cause confusion in their religion. If Allah had willed, they would not have done so: But leave alone them and their inventions.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:148

سَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ مَآ أَشْرَكْنَا وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن شَىْءٍ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ ذَاقُوا۟ بَأْسَنَا قُلْ هَلْ عِندَكُم مِّنْ عِلْمٍ فَتُخْرِجُوهُ لَنَآ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَخْرُصُونَ

sa-yaqūlu lladhīna ashrakū law shāʾa allāhu mā ashraknā wa-lā ābāʾunā wa-lā ḥarramnā min shayʾin ka-dhālika kadhdhaba lladhīna min qablihim ḥattā dhāqū baʾsanā qul hal ʿindakum min ʿilmin fa-tukhrijūhu lanā in tattabiʿūna illā l-ẓanna wa-in antum illā takhruṣūna

Those who give partners (to Allah) will say: "If Allah had wished, we should not have given partners to Him nor would our fathers; nor should we have had any taboos." So did their ancestors argue falsely, until they tasted of Our wrath. Say: "Have ye any (certain) knowledge? If so, produce it before us. Ye follow nothing but conjecture: ye do nothing but lie."
