RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(2:132)

And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam."
(2:247)

وَقَالَ  لَهُمْ  نَبِيُّهُمْ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  قَدْ  بَعَثَ  لَكُمْ  طَالُوتَ  مَلِكًا  قَالُوٓا۟  أَنَّىٰ  يَكُونُ  لَهُ  ٱلْمُلْكُ  عَلَيْنَا  وَنَحْنُ  أَحَقُّ  بِٱلْمُلْكِ  مِنْهُ  وَلَمْ  يُؤْتَ  سَعَةً  مِّنَ  ٱلْمَالِ  قَالَ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  ٱصْطَفَىٰهُ  عَلَيْكُمْ  وَزَادَهُۥ  بَسْطَةً  فِى  ٱلْعِلْمِ  وَٱلْجِسْمِ  وَٱللَّـهُ  يُؤْتِى  مُلْكَهُۥ  مَن  يَشَآءُ  وَٱللَّـهُ  وَٰسِعٌ  عَلِيمٌ wa‑qāla lahum nabiyyuhum inna allāha qad baʿatha la‑kum ṭālūta malikan qālū annā yakūnu lahu l‑mulku ʿalaynā wa‑naḥnu aḥaqqu bil‑mulki minhu wa‑lam yuʾtā saʿatan mina l‑māli qalā inna allāha iṣṭafāhu ʿalaykum wa‑zādahu basṭatan l‑ʿilmi wa‑l‑jismi wallāhu yuʾtī mulkahu man yashāʾu wallāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun
Their Prophet said to them: "Allah hath appointed Talut as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "Allah hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things."

Surah 3 Āl-ʿImrān (The Family of Imran)
(3:33)

Allah did choose Adam and Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of 'Imran above all people,-
(3:42)

وَإِذْ  قَالَتِ  ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ  يَٰمَرْيَمُ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  ٱصْطَفَىٰكِ  وَطَهَّرَكِ  وَٱصْطَفَىٰكِ  عَلَىٰ  نِسَآءِ  ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ wa‑idh qālati l‑malāʾikatu yā‑maryamu inna allāha iṣṭafāki wa‑ṭahharaki wa‑iṣṭafāki ʿalā nisāʾi l‑ʿālamīna
Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee- chosen thee above the women of all nations.

Surah 17 al-Isrāʾ (The Children of Israel)
(17:40)

أَفَأَصْفَىٰكُمْ  رَبُّكُم  بِٱلْبَنِينَ  وَٱتَّخَذَ  مِنَ  ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ  إِنَٰثًا  إِنَّكُمْ  لَتَقُولُونَ  قَوْلًا  عَظِيمًا a‑fa‑aṣfākum rabbukum bil‑banīna wa‑attakhadha mina l‑malāʾikati ināthan innakum la‑taqūlūna qawlan ʿaẓīman
Has then your Lord (O Pagans!) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself daughters among the angels? Truly ye utter a most dreadful saying!

Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage)
(22:75)

Allah chooses messengers from angels and from men for Allah is He Who hears and sees (all things).

Surah 27 al-Naml (The Ant)
(27:59)

Say: Praise be to Allah, and Peace on his servants whom He has chosen (for his Message). (Who) is better?- Allah or the false gods they associate (with Him)?

Surah 37 al-Ṣaffāt (The Rangers)
(37:153)

أَصْطَفَى  ٱلْبَنَاتِ  عَلَى  ٱلْبَنِينَ a‑ṣṭafā l‑banāti ʿalā l‑banīna
Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons?

Surah 39 al-Zumar (The Companies)
(39:4)

لَّوْ  أَرَادَ  ٱللَّـهُ  أَن  يَتَّخِذَ  وَلَدًا  لَّٱصْطَفَىٰ  مِمَّا  يَخْلُقُ  مَا  يَشَآءُ  سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ  هُوَ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلْوَٰحِدُ  ٱلْقَهَّارُ law arāda allāhu an yattakhidha waladan la‑iṣṭafā mimmā yakhluqu yashāʾu subḥānahu huwa allāhu l‑wāḥidu l‑qahhāru
Had Allah wished to take to Himself a son, He could have chosen whom He pleased out of those whom He doth create: but Glory be to Him! (He is above such things.) He is Allah, the One, the Irresistible.

Surah 43 al-Zukhruf (The Embellishment)
(43:16)

What! has He taken daughters out of what He himself creates, and granted to you sons for choice?
