Sura al-Baqara 2:158

إِنَّ ٱلصَّفَا وَٱلْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَآئِرِ ٱللَّـهِ فَمَنْ حَجَّ ٱلْبَيْتَ أَوِ ٱعْتَمَرَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَن يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا وَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًا فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ شَاكِرٌ عَلِيمٌ

inna l-ṣafā wa-l-marwata min shaʿāʾiri allāhi fa-man ḥajja l-bayta awi ʿtamara fa-lā junāḥa ʿalayhi an yaṭṭawwafa bihimā wa-man taṭawwaʿa khayran fa-inna allāha shākirun ʿalīmun

Behold! Safa and Marwa are among the Symbols of Allah. So if those who visit the House in the Season or at other times, should compass them round, it is no sin in them. And if any one obeyeth his own impulse to good,- be sure that Allah is He Who recogniseth and knoweth.

Sura al-Baqara 2:184

أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَٰتٍ فَمَن كَانَ مِنكُم مَّرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُۥ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ فَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّهُۥ وَأَن تَصُومُوا۟ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

ayyāman maʿdūdātin fa-man kāna minkum marīḍan aw ʿalā safarin faʿiddatun min ayyāmin ukhara wa-ʿalā lladhīna yuṭīqūnahu fidyatun ṭaʿāmu miskīnin fa-man taṭawwaʿa khayran fa-huwa khayrun lahu wa-an taṣūmū khayrun la-kum in kuntum taʿlamūna

(Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.

Sura al-Baqara 2:217

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلشَّهْرِ ٱلْحَرَامِ قِتَالٍ فِيهِ قُلْ قِتَالٌ فِيهِ كَبِيرٌ وَصَدٌّ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَكُفْرٌۢ بِهِۦ وَٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَإِخْرَاجُ أَهْلِهِۦ مِنْهُ أَكْبَرُ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱلْفِتْنَةُ أَكْبَرُ مِنَ ٱلْقَتْلِ وَلَا يَزَالُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَن دِينِكُمْ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ وَمَن يَرْتَدِدْ مِنكُمْ عَن دِينِهِۦ فَيَمُتْ وَهُوَ كَافِرٌ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

yasʾalūnaka ʿani l-shahri l-ḥarāmi qitālin fīhi qul qitālun fīhi kabīrun waṣaddun ʿan sabīli allāhi wa-kufrun bihi wa-l-masjidi l-ḥarāmi waikhrāju ahlihi minhu akbaru ʿinda allāhi wa-l-fitnatu akbaru mina l-qatli wa-lā yazālūna yuqātilūnakum ḥattā yaruddūkum ʿan dīnikum ini istaṭāʿū wa-man yartadid minkum ʿan dīnihi fa-yamut wa-huwa kāfirun fa-ūlāʾika ḥabiṭat aʿmāluhum fī l-dunyā wa-l-akhirati wa-ūlāʾika aṣḥābu l-nāri hum fīhā khālidūna

They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say: "Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members." Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.

Sura al-Baqara 2:273

لِلْفُقَرَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أُحْصِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ضَرْبًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَحْسَبُهُمُ ٱلْجَاهِلُ أَغْنِيَآءَ مِنَ ٱلتَّعَفُّفِ تَعْرِفُهُم بِسِيمَٰهُمْ لَا يَسْـَٔلُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمٌ

lil-fuqarāʾi lladhīna uḥṣirū fī sabīli allāhi lā yastaṭīʿūna ḍarban fī l-arḍi yaḥsabuhumu l-jāhilu aghniyāʾa mina l-taʿaffufi taʿrifuhum bi-sīmāhum lā yasʾalūna l-nāsa ilḥāfan wa-mā tunfiqū min khayrin fa-inna allāha bihi ʿalīmun

(Charity is) for those in need, who, in Allah's cause are restricted (from travel), and cannot move about in the land, seeking (For trade or work): the ignorant man thinks, because of their modesty, that they are free from want. Thou shalt know them by their (Unfailing) mark: They beg not importunately from all the sundry. And whatever of good ye give, be assured Allah knoweth it well.

Sura al-Baqara 2:282

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَدَايَنتُم بِدَيْنٍ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَٱكْتُبُوهُ وَلْيَكْتُب بَّيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبٌۢ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ أَن يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ ٱللَّـهُ فَلْيَكْتُبْ وَلْيُمْلِلِ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ ٱللَّـهَ رَبَّهُۥ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا فَإِن كَانَ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ سَفِيهًا أَوْ ضَعِيفًا أَوْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَن يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُۥ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ شَهِيدَيْنِ مِن رِّجَالِكُمْ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَٱمْرَأَتَانِ مِمَّن تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءِ أَن تَضِلَّ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ وَلَا يَأْبَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءُ إِذَا مَا دُعُوا۟ وَلَا تَسْـَٔمُوٓا۟ أَن تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغِيرًا أَوْ كَبِيرًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلِهِۦ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ وَأَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَٰدَةِ وَأَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَرْتَابُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً حَاضِرَةً تُدِيرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَا وَأَشْهِدُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْ وَلَا يُضَآرَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَهِيدٌ وَإِن تَفْعَلُوا۟ فَإِنَّهُۥ فُسُوقٌۢ بِكُمْ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱللَّـهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā tadāyantum bi-daynin ila ajalin musamman fa-uktubūhu wa-l-yaktub baynakum kātibun bil-ʿadli wa-lā yaʾba kātibun an yaktuba ka-mā ʿallamahu allāhu fa-l-yaktub wa-l-yumlili alladhī ʿalayhi l-ḥaqqu wa-l-yattaqi allāha rabbahu wa-lā yabkhas minhu shayʾan fa-in kāna alladhī ʿalayhi l-ḥaqqu safīhan aw ḍaʿīfan aw lā yastaṭīʿu an yumilla huwa fa-lyumlil walīyuhu bil-ʿadli wa-istashhidū shahīdayni min rijālikum fa-in lam yakūnā rajulayni fa-rajulun wa-amraʾatāni mimman tarḍawna mina l-shuhadāʾi an taḍilla iḥdāhumā fa-tudhakkira iḥdāhumā l-ukhrā wa-lā yaʾba l-suhadāʾu idhā mā duʿū wa-lā tasʾamū an taktubūhu ṣaghīran aw kabīran ila ajalihi dhālikum aqsaṭu ʿinda allāhi wa-aqwamu lil-shahādati wa-adna allā tartābū illā an takūna tijāratan ḥāḍiratan tudīrūnahā baynakum fa-laysa ʿalaykum junāḥun allā taktubūhā wa-ashhidū idhā tabāyaʿtum wa-lā yuḍārra kātibun wa-lā shahīdun wa-in tafʿalū fa-innahu fusūqun bikum wa-ittaqū allāha wayuʿallimukumu allāhu wallāhu bi-kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun

O ye who believe! When ye deal with each other, in transactions involving future obligations in a fixed period of time, reduce them to writing Let a scribe write down faithfully as between the parties: let not the scribe refuse to write: as Allah Has taught him, so let him write. Let him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear His Lord Allah, and not diminish aught of what he owes. If the party liable is mentally deficient, or weak, or unable Himself to dictate, Let his guardian dictate faithfully, and get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her. The witnesses should not refuse when they are called on (For evidence). Disdain not to reduce to writing (your contract) for a future period, whether it be small or big: it is juster in the sight of Allah, More suitable as evidence, and more convenient to prevent doubts among yourselves but if it be a transaction which ye carry out on the spot among yourselves, there is no blame on you if ye reduce it not to writing. But take witness whenever ye make a commercial contract; and let neither scribe nor witness suffer harm. If ye do (such harm), it would be wickedness in you. So fear Allah; For it is Allah that teaches you. And Allah is well acquainted with all things.

Sura al-Baqara 2:285

ءَامَنَ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ كُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِۦ وَقَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

āmana l-rasūlu bimā unzila ilayhi min rabbihi wa-l-muʾminūna kullun āmana billāhi wa-malāʾikatihi wa-kutubihi wa-rusulihi lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin min rrusulihi wa-qālū samiʿnā wa-aṭaʿnā ghufrānaka rabbanā wa-ilayka l-maṣīru

The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:32

قُلْ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

qul aṭīʿū allāha wa-l-rasūla fa-in tawallaw fa-inna allāha lā yuḥibbu l-kāfirīna

Say: "Obey Allah and His Messenger": But if they turn back, Allah loveth not those who reject Faith.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:50

وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَلِأُحِلَّ لَكُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَجِئْتُكُم بِـَٔايَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

wa-muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayya mina l-tawrāti wa-li-uḥilla la-kum baʿḍa alladhī ḥurrima ʿalaykum wa-jiʾtukum bi-āyatin min rabbikum fa-ittaqū allāha wa-aṭīʿūni

"'(I have come to you), to attest the Law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was (Before) forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah, and obey me.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:97

فِيهِ ءَايَٰتٌۢ بَيِّنَٰتٌ مَّقَامُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمَن دَخَلَهُۥ كَانَ ءَامِنًا وَلِلَّەِ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ حِجُّ ٱلْبَيْتِ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

fīhi āyātun bayyinātun maqāmu ibrāhīma wa-man dakhalahu kāna āminan wa-lillahi ʿalā l-nāsi ḥijju l-bayti mani staṭāʿa ilayhi sabīlan wa-man kafara fa-inna allāha ghaniyyun ʿani l-ʿālamīna

In it are Signs Manifest; (for example), the Station of Abraham; whoever enters it attains security; Pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah,- those who can afford the journey; but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of His creatures.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:100

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ فَرِيقًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يَرُدُّوكُم بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِكُمْ كَٰفِرِينَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū in tuṭīʿū farīqan mina lladhīna ūtū l-kitāba yaruddūkum baʿda īmānikum kāfirīna

O ye who believe! If ye listen to a faction among the People of the Book, they would (indeed) render you apostates after ye have believed!

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:132

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

wa-aṭīʿū allāha wa-l-rasūla la-ʿallakum turḥamūna

And obey Allah and the Messenger; that ye may obtain mercy.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:149

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū in tuṭīʿū lladhīna kafarū yaruddūkum ʿala aʿqābikum fa-tanqalibū khāsirīna

O ye who believe! If ye obey the Unbelievers, they will drive you back on your heels, and ye will turn back (from Faith) to your own loss.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:168

ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا۟ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا۟ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُوا۟ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

lladhīna qālū li-ikhwānihim wa-qaʿadū law aṭāʿūnā mā qutilū qul fa-idraʾū ʿan anfusikumu l-mawtā in kuntum ṣādiqīna

(They are) the ones that say, (of their brethren slain), while they themselves sit (at ease): "If only they had listened to us they would not have been slain." Say: "Avert death from your own selves, if ye speak the truth."

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:13

تِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

tilka ḥudūdu allāhi wa-man yuṭiʿi allāha wa-rasūlahu yudkhilhu jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru khālidīna fīhā wa-dhālika l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu

Those are limits set by Allah: those who obey Allah and His Messenger will be admitted to Gardens with rivers flowing beneath, to abide therein (for ever) and that will be the supreme achievement.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:25

وَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنكُمْ طَوْلًا أَن يَنكِحَ ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ فَمِن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُم مِّن فَتَيَٰتِكُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَٱللَّـهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَٰنِكُم بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ فَٱنكِحُوهُنَّ بِإِذْنِ أَهْلِهِنَّ وَءَاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ مُحْصَنَٰتٍ غَيْرَ مُسَٰفِحَٰتٍ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَٰتِ أَخْدَانٍ فَإِذَآ أُحْصِنَّ فَإِنْ أَتَيْنَ بِفَٰحِشَةٍ فَعَلَيْهِنَّ نِصْفُ مَا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ ٱلْعَنَتَ مِنكُمْ وَأَن تَصْبِرُوا۟ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

wa-man lam yastaṭiʿ minkum ṭawlan an yankiḥa l-muḥṣanāti l-muʾmināti famin mā malakat aymānukum min fa-tayātikumu l-muʾmināti wallāhu aʿlamu biīmānikum baʿḍukum min baʿḍin fa-inkiḥūhunna bi-idhni ahlihinna wa-ātūhunna ujūrahunna bil-maʿrūfi muḥṣanātin ghayra musāfiḥātin wa-lā muttakhidhāti akhdānin fa-idhā uḥṣinna fa-in atayna bi-fāḥishatin faʿalayhinna niṣfu mā ʿalā l-muḥṣanāti mina l-ʿadhābi dhālika liman khashiya l-ʿanata minkum wa-an taṣbirū khayrun la-kum wallāhu ghafūrun raḥīmun

If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:34

ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّـهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنْ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ فَٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ قَٰنِتَٰتٌ حَٰفِظَٰتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱلَّٰتِى تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ وَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا

l-rijālu qawwāmūna ʿalā l-nisāʾi bi-mā faḍḍala allāhu baʿḍahum ʿalā baʿḍin wa-bimā anfaqū min amwālihim fa-l-ṣāliḥātu qānitātun ḥāfiẓātun lil-ghaybi bi-mā ḥafiẓa allāhu wallātī takhāfūna nushūzahunna faʿiẓūhunna wa-ahjurūhunna fī l-maḍājiʿi wa-aḍribūhunna fa-in aṭaʿnakum fa-lā tabghū ʿalayhinna sabīlan inna allāha kāna ʿaliyyan kabīran

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:46

مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَٰعِنَا لَيًّۢا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ وَٱنظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

mina lladhīna hādū yuḥarrifūna l-kalima ʿan mawāḍiʿihi wa-yaqūlūna samiʿnā wa-ʿaṣaynā wa-ismaʿ ghayra musmaʿin wa-rāʿinā layyan bi-alsinatihim wa-ṭaʿnan fī l-dīni wa-law annahum qālū samiʿnā wa-aṭaʿnā wa-ismaʿ wa-anẓurnā la-kāna khayran lahum wa-aqwama wa-lākin laʿanahumu allāhu bi-kufrihim fa-lā yuʾminūna illā qalīlan

Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "We hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:59

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ فَإِن تَنَٰزَعْتُمْ فِى شَىْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱللَّـهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْأَخِرِ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū aṭīʿū allāha wa-aṭīʿū l-rasūla wa-ūlī l-amri minkum fa-in tanāzaʿtum fī shayʾin faruddūhu ilā allāhi wa-l-rasūli in kuntum tuʾminūna billāhi wa-l-yawmi l-akhiri dhālika khayrun wa-aḥsanu tawīlan

O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If ye differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe in Allah and the Last Day: That is best, and most suitable for final determination.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:64

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا

wa-mā arsalnā min rrasūlin illā li-yuṭāʿa bi-idhni allāhi wa-law annahum idh ẓalamū anfusahum jāʾūka fa-astaghfarū allāha wa-astaghfara lahumu l-rasūlu la-wajadū allāha tawwāban raḥīman

We sent not a messenger, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:69

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّـهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ رَفِيقًا

wa-man yuṭiʿi allāha wa-l-rasūla fa-ūlāʾika maʿa lladhīna anʿama allāhu ʿalayhim mina l-nabiyyina wa-l-ṣiddīqīna wa-l-shuhadāʾi wa-l-ṣāliḥīna waḥasuna ulāʾika rafīqan

All who obey Allah and the messenger are in the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): Ah! what a beautiful fellowship!

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:80

مَّن يُطِعِ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ ٱللَّـهَ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا

man yuṭiʿi l-rasūla fa-qad aṭāʿa allāha wa-man tawalla fa-mā arsalnāka ʿalayhim ḥafīẓan

He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah: But if any turn away, We have not sent thee to watch over their (evil deeds).

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:98

إِلَّا ٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلًا

illā l-mustaḍʿafīna mina l-rijāli wa-l-nisāi wa-l-wildāni lā yastaṭīʿūna ḥīlatan wa-lā yahtadūna sabīlan

Except those who are (really) weak and oppressed - men, women, and children - who have no means in their power, nor (a guide-post) to their way.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:129

وَلَن تَسْتَطِيعُوٓا۟ أَن تَعْدِلُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتُمْ فَلَا تَمِيلُوا۟ كُلَّ ٱلْمَيْلِ فَتَذَرُوهَا كَٱلْمُعَلَّقَةِ وَإِن تُصْلِحُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

wa-lan tastaṭīʿū an taʿdilū bayna l-nisāʾi wa-law ḥaraṣtum fa-lā tamīlū kulla l-mayli fatadharūhā ka-l-muʿallaqati wa-in tuṣliḥū wa-tattaqū fa-inna allāha kāna ghafūran raḥīman

Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:7

وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّـهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيثَٰقَهُ ٱلَّذِى وَاثَقَكُم بِهِۦٓ إِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

wa-idhkurū niʿmata allāhi ʿalaykum wa-mīthāqahu alladhī wāthaqakum bihi idh qultum samiʿnā wa-aṭaʿnā wa-ittaqū allāha inna allāha ʿalīmun bi-dhāti l-ṣudūri

And call in remembrance the favour of Allah unto you, and His covenant, which He ratified with you, when ye said: "We hear and we obey": And fear Allah, for Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:30

فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ

faṭawwaʿat lahu nafsuhu qatla akhīhi faqatalahu fa-aṣbaḥa mina l-khāsirīna

The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:92

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَٱحْذَرُوا۟ فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا عَلَىٰ رَسُولِنَا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

wa-aṭīʿū allāha wa-aṭīʿū l-rasūla wa-aḥdharū fa-in tawallaytum fa-iʿlamū annamā ʿalā rasūlinā l-balāghu l-mubīnu

Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and beware (of evil): if ye do turn back, know ye that it is Our Messenger's duty to proclaim (the message) in the clearest manner.

Sura al-Māʾidah 5:112

إِذْ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ قَالَ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

idh qalā l-ḥawāriyyūna yā-ʿīsā ibna maryama hal yastaṭīʿu rabbuka an yunazzila ʿalaynā māʾidatan mina l-samāʾi qalā ittaqū allāha in kuntum muʾminīna

Behold! the disciples, said: "O Jesus the son of Mary! can thy Lord send down to us a table set (with viands) from heaven?" Said Jesus: "Fear Allah, if ye have faith."

Sura al-Anʿām 6:35

وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكَ إِعْرَاضُهُمْ فَإِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ أَن تَبْتَغِىَ نَفَقًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ سُلَّمًا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَأْتِيَهُم بِـَٔايَةٍ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ لَجَمَعَهُمْ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

wa-in kāna kabura ʿalayka iʿrāḍuhum fa-ini istaṭaʿta an tabtaghiya nafaqan fī l-arḍi aw sullaman fī l-samāʾi fa-taʾtiyahum bi-āyatin wa-law shāʾa allāhu lajamaʿahum ʿalā l-hudā fa-lā takūnanna mina l-jāhilīna

If their spurning is hard on thy mind, yet if thou wert able to seek a tunnel in the ground or a ladder to the skies and bring them a sign,- (what good?). If it were Allah's will, He could gather them together unto true guidance: so be not thou amongst those who are swayed by ignorance (and impatience)!

Sura al-Anʿām 6:116

وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ

wa-in tuṭiʿ akthara man fī l-arḍi yuḍillūka ʿan sabīli allāhi in yattabiʿūna illā l-ẓanna wa-in hum illā yakhruṣūna

Wert thou to follow the common run of those on earth, they will lead thee away from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture: they do nothing but lie.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:121

وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّـهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِسْقٌ وَإِنَّ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ لَيُوحُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ لِيُجَٰدِلُوكُمْ وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ إِنَّكُمْ لَمُشْرِكُونَ

wa-lā taʾkulū mimmā lam yudhkari smu allāhi ʿalayhi wa-innahu la-fisqun wa-inna l-shayāṭīna la-yūḥūna ila awliyāʾihim li-yujādilūkum wa-in aṭaʿtumūhum innakum la-mushrikūna

Eat not of (meats) on which Allah's name hath not been pronounced: That would be impiety. But the evil ones ever inspire their friends to contend with you if ye were to obey them, ye would indeed be Pagans.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:192

وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْرًا وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ

wa-lā yastaṭīʿūna lahum naṣran wa-lā anfusahum yanṣurūna

No aid can they give them, nor can they aid themselves!

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:197

وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ

wa-lladhīna tadʿūna min dūnihi lā yastaṭīʿūna naṣrakum wa-lā anfusahum yanṣurūna

"But those ye call upon besides Him, are unable to help you, and indeed to help themselves."

Sura al-Anfāl 8:1

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْأَنفَالِ قُلِ ٱلْأَنفَالُ لِلَّـهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَأَصْلِحُوا۟ ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

yasʾalūnaka ʿani l-anfāli quli l-anfālu lillāhi wa-l-rasūli fa-ittaqū allāha wa-aṣliḥū dhāta baynikum wa-aṭīʿū allāha wa-rasūlahu in kuntum muʾminīna

They ask thee concerning (things taken as) spoils of war. Say: "(such) spoils are at the disposal of Allah and the Messenger: So fear Allah, and keep straight the relations between yourselves: Obey Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe."

Sura al-Anfāl 8:20

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū aṭīʿū allāha wa-rasūlahu wa-lā tawallaw ʿanhu wa-antum tasmaʿūna

O ye who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak).

Sura al-Anfāl 8:46

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَا تَنَٰزَعُوا۟ فَتَفْشَلُوا۟ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ وَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ

wa-aṭīʿū allāha wa-rasūlahu wa-lā tanāzaʿū fa-tafshalū wa-tadhhaba rīḥukum wa-iṣbirū inna allāha maʿa l-ṣābirīna

And obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere:

Sura al-Anfāl 8:60

وَأَعِدُّوا۟ لَهُم مَّا ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ ٱلْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِۦ عَدُوَّ ٱللَّـهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِن شَىْءٍ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ

waaʿiddū lahum mā istaṭaʿtum min quwwatin wa-min rribāṭi l-khayli turhibūna bihi ʿadūwa allāhi wa-ʿaduwwakum wa-ākharīna min dūnihim lā taʿlamūnahumu allāhu yaʿlamuhum wa-mā tunfiqū min shayʾin fī sabīli allāhi yuwaffa ilaykum wa-antum lā tuẓlamūna

Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:42

لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لَّٱتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَٰكِنۢ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشُّقَّةُ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ لَوِ ٱسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

law kāna ʿaraḍan qarīban wa-safaran qāṣidan llattabaʿūka wa-lākin baʿudat ʿalayhimu l-shuqqatu wa-sa-yaḥlifūna billāhi lawi staṭaʿnā lakharajnā maʿakum yuhlikūna anfusahum wallāhu yaʿlamu innahum la-kādhibūna

If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them. They would indeed swear by Allah, "If we only could, we should certainly have come out with you": They would destroy their own souls; for Allah doth know that they are certainly lying.

Sura al-Tawbah 9:71

وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّـهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

wa-l-muʾminūna wa-l-muʾminātu baʿḍuhum awliyāʾu baʿḍin yaʾmurūna bil-maʿrūfi wa-yanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-yuqīmūna l-ṣalāta wa-yuʾtūna l-zakāta wa-yuṭīʿūna allāha wa-rasūlahu ulāʾika sa-yarḥamuhumu allāhu inna allāha ʿazīzun ḥakīmun

The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.

Sura Yūnus 10:38

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِسُورَةٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

am yaqūlūna iftarāhu qul fa-ʾtū bi-sūratin mithlihi wa-idʿū mani istaṭaʿtum min dūni allāhi in kuntum ṣādiqīna

Or do they say, "He forged it"? say: "Bring then a Sura like unto it, and call (to your aid) anyone you can besides Allah, if it be ye speak the truth!"

Sura Hūd 11:13

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ مُفْتَرَيَٰتٍ وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

am yaqūlūna iftarāhu qul fa-ʾtū bi-ʿashri suwarin mithlihi muftarayātin wa-idʿū mani istaṭaʿtum min dūni allāhi in kuntum ṣādiqīna

Or they may say, "He forged it," Say, "Bring ye then ten suras forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah!- If ye speak the truth!

Sura Hūd 11:20

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ مُعْجِزِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَآءَ يُضَٰعَفُ لَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يُبْصِرُونَ

ulāʾika lam yakūnū muʿjizīna fī l-arḍi wa-mā kāna lahum min dūni allāhi min awliyāʾa yuḍāʿafu lahumu l-ʿadhābu mā kānū yastaṭīʿūna l-samʿa wa-mā kānū yubṣirūna

They will in no wise frustrate (His design) on earth, nor have they protectors besides Allah! Their penalty will be doubled! They lost the power to hear, and they did not see!

Sura Hūd 11:88

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَرَزَقَنِى مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنْهَىٰكُمْ عَنْهُ إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا ٱلْإِصْلَٰحَ مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتُ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِىٓ إِلَّا بِٱللَّـهِ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

qalā yā-qawmi a-raʾaytum in kuntu ʿalā bayyinatin min rrabbī wa-razaqanī minhu rizqan ḥasanan wa-mā urīdu an ukhālifakum ilā mā anhakum ʿanhu in urīdu illā l-iṣlāḥa mā istaṭaʿtu wa-mā tawfīqī illā billāhi ʿalayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi unību

He said: "O my people! see ye whether I have a Clear (Sign) from my Lord, and He hath given me sustenance (pure and) good as from Himself? I wish not, in opposition to you, to do that which I forbid you to do. I only desire (your) betterment to the best of my power; and my success (in my task) can only come from Allah. In Him I trust, and unto Him I look.

Sura al-Naḥl 16:73

وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

wa-yaʿbudūna min dūni allāhi mā lā yamliku lahum rizqan mina l-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi shayʾan wa-lā yastaṭīʿūna

And worship others than Allah,- such as have no power of providing them, for sustenance, with anything in heavens or earth, and cannot possibly have such power?

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:48

ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأَمْثَالَ فَضَلُّوا۟ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا

inẓur kayfa ḍarabū la-ka l-amthāla faḍallū fa-lā yastaṭīʿūna sabīlan

See what similes they strike for thee: but they have gone astray, and never can they find a way.

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:64

وَٱسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُم بِصَوْتِكَ وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِم بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْوَٰلِ وَٱلْأَوْلَٰدِ وَعِدْهُمْ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا

wa-istafziz mani istaṭaʿta minhum bi-ṣawtika wa-ajlib ʿalayhim bi-khaylika wa-rajilika wa-shārikhum fī l-amwāli wa-l-awlādi wa-ʿidhum wa-mā yaʿiduhumu l-shayṭānu illā ghurūran

"Lead to destruction those whom thou canst among them, with thy (seductive) voice; make assaults on them with thy cavalry and thy infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit.

Sura al-Kahf 18:28

وَٱصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ وَلَا تَعْدُ عَيْنَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُۥ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُۥ فُرُطًا

wa-iṣbir nafsaka maʿa lladhīna yadʿūna rabbahum bil-ghadāti wa-l-ʿashiyyi yurīdūna wajhahu wa-lā taʿdu ʿaynāka ʿanhum turīdu zīnata l-ḥayāti l-dunyā wa-lā tuṭiʿ man aghfalnā qalbahu ʿan dhikrinā wa-ittabaʿa hawahu wa-kāna amruhu furuṭan

And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.

Sura al-Kahf 18:41

أَوْ يُصْبِحَ مَآؤُهَا غَوْرًا فَلَن تَسْتَطِيعَ لَهُۥ طَلَبًا

aw yuṣbiḥa māʾuhā ghawran fa-lan tastaṭīʿa lahu ṭalaban

"Or the water of the garden will run off underground so that thou wilt never be able to find it."

Sura al-Kahf 18:67

قَالَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًا

qalā innaka lan tastaṭīʿa maʿiya ṣabran

(The other) said: "Verily thou wilt not be able to have patience with me!"

Sura al-Kahf 18:72

قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًا

qalā a-lam aqul innaka lan tastaṭīʿa maʿiya ṣabran

He answered: "Did I not tell thee that thou canst have no patience with me?"

Sura al-Kahf 18:75

قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًا

qalā a-lam aqul laka innaka lan tastaṭīʿa maʿiya ṣabran

He answered: "Did I not tell thee that thou canst have no patience with me?"
