Sura al-Naḥl 16:58

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

wa-idhā bushshira aḥaduhum bil-untha ẓalla wajhuhu muswaddan wa-huwa kaẓīmun

When news is brought to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:97

قَالَ فَٱذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُۥ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ ٱلَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ نَسْفًا

qalā fadhhab fa-inna la-ka fī l-ḥayāti an taqūla lā misāsa wa-inna la-ka mawʿidan lan tukhlafahu wa-unẓur ila ilāhika alladhī ẓalta ʿalayhi ʿākifan la-nuḥarriqannahu thumma la-nansifannahu fī l-yammi nasfan

(Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!"

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:4

إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَ

in nashaʾ nunazzil ʿalayhim mina l-samāʾi āyatan fa-ẓallat aʿnāquhum lahā khāḍiʿīna

If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.

Sura al-Zukhruf 43:17

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

wa-idhā bushshira aḥaduhum bi-mā ḍaraba lil-raḥmāni mathalan ẓalla wajhuhu muswaddan wa-huwa kaẓīmun

When news is brought to one of them of (the birth of) what he sets up as a likeness to (Allah) Most Gracious, his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!
