Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)

(7:66)

قَالَ  ٱلْمَلَأُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  مِن  قَوْمِهِۦٓ  إِنَّا  لَنَرَىٰكَ  فِى  سَفَاهَةٍ  وَإِنَّا  لَنَظُنُّكَ  مِنَ  ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ qalā l‑malaʾu lladhīna kafarū min qawmihi innā la‑narāka safāhatin wa‑innā la‑naẓunnuka mina l‑kādhibīna
The leaders of the Unbelievers among his people said: "Ah! we see thou art an imbecile!" and "We think thou art a liar!"

Surah 11 Hūd (Hud)
(11:27)

فَقَالَ  ٱلْمَلَأُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  مِن  قَوْمِهِۦ  مَا  نَرَىٰكَ  إِلَّا  بَشَرًا  مِّثْلَنَا  وَمَا  نَرَىٰكَ  ٱتَّبَعَكَ  إِلَّا  ٱلَّذِينَ  هُمْ  أَرَاذِلُنَا  بَادِىَ  ٱلرَّأْىِ  وَمَا  نَرَىٰ  لَكُمْ  عَلَيْنَا  مِن  فَضْلٍۭ  بَلْ  نَظُنُّكُمْ  كَٰذِبِينَ fa‑qāla l‑malaʾu lladhīna kafarū min qawmihi naraka illā basharan mithlanā wa‑mā naraka ittabaʿaka illā lladhīna hum arādhilunā bādiya l‑raʾyi wa‑mā narā la‑kum ʿalaynā min faḍlin bal naẓunnukum kādhibīna
But the chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "We see (in) thee nothing but a man like ourselves: Nor do we see that any follow thee but the meanest among us, in judgment immature: Nor do we see in you (all) any merit above us: in fact we thing ye are liars!"

Surah 17 al-Isrāʾ (The Children of Israel)
(17:101)

وَلَقَدْ  ءَاتَيْنَا  مُوسَىٰ  تِسْعَ  ءَايَٰتٍۭ  بَيِّنَٰتٍ  فَسْـَٔلْ  بَنِىٓ  إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ  إِذْ  جَآءَهُمْ  فَقَالَ  لَهُۥ  فِرْعَوْنُ  إِنِّى  لَأَظُنُّكَ  يَٰمُوسَىٰ  مَسْحُورًا wa‑la‑qad ātaynā mūsā tisʿa āyātin bayyinātin fa‑sʾal banī isrāʾīla idh jāʾahum fa‑qāla lahu firʿawun innī la‑aẓunnuka yā‑mūsā masḥūran
To Moses We did give Nine Clear Signs: Ask the Children of Israel: when he came to them, Pharaoh said to him: "O Moses! I consider thee, indeed, to have been worked upon by sorcery!
(17:102)

قَالَ  لَقَدْ  عَلِمْتَ  مَآ  أَنزَلَ  هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ  إِلَّا  رَبُّ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  بَصَآئِرَ  وَإِنِّى  لَأَظُنُّكَ  يَٰفِرْعَوْنُ  مَثْبُورًا qalā la‑qad ʿalimta anzala hāʾulāʾi illā rabbu l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi baṣāʾira wa‑innī la‑aẓunnuka yā‑firʿawnu mathbūran
Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening evidence: and I consider thee indeed, O Pharaoh, to be one doomed to destruction!"

Surah 18 al-Kahf (The Cave)
(18:35)

وَدَخَلَ  جَنَّتَهُۥ  وَهُوَ  ظَالِمٌ  لِّنَفْسِهِۦ  قَالَ  مَآ  أَظُنُّ  أَن  تَبِيدَ  هَٰذِهِۦٓ  أَبَدًا wa‑dakhala jannatahu wa‑huwa ẓālimun li‑nafsihi qalā aẓunnu an tabīda hādhihi abadan
He went into his garden in a state (of mind) unjust to his soul: He said, "I deem not that this will ever perish,
(18:36)

وَمَآ  أَظُنُّ  ٱلسَّاعَةَ  قَآئِمَةً  وَلَئِن  رُّدِدتُّ  إِلَىٰ  رَبِّى  لَأَجِدَنَّ  خَيْرًا  مِّنْهَا  مُنقَلَبًا wa‑mā aẓunnu l‑sāʿata qāʾimatan wa‑laʾin rrudidttu ilā rabbī laajidanna khayran minhā munqalaban
"Nor do I deem that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) come: Even if I am brought back to my Lord, I shall surely find (there) something better in exchange."

Surah 26 al-Shuʿarā (The Poets)
(26:186)

وَمَآ  أَنتَ  إِلَّا  بَشَرٌ  مِّثْلُنَا  وَإِن  نَّظُنُّكَ  لَمِنَ  ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ wa‑mā anta illā basharun mithlunā wa‑in nnaẓunnuka la‑mina l‑kādhibīna
"Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar!

Surah 28 al-Qaṣaṣ (The Narrative)
(28:38)

وَقَالَ  فِرْعَوْنُ  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلْمَلَأُ  مَا  عَلِمْتُ  لَكُم  مِّنْ  إِلَٰهٍ  غَيْرِى  فَأَوْقِدْ  لِى  يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ  عَلَى  ٱلطِّينِ  فَٱجْعَل  لِّى  صَرْحًا  لَّعَلِّىٓ  أَطَّلِعُ  إِلَىٰٓ  إِلَٰهِ  مُوسَىٰ  وَإِنِّى  لَأَظُنُّهُۥ  مِنَ  ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ wa‑qāla firʿawun yā‑ayyuhā l‑malaʾu ʿalimtu la‑kum min ilāhin ghayrī fa‑awqid yā‑hāmānu ʿalā l‑ṭīni fa‑ajʿal ṣarḥan laʿallī aṭṭaliʿu ila ilāhi mūsā wa‑innī la‑aẓunnuhu mina l‑kādhibīna
Pharaoh said: "O Chiefs! no god do I know for you but myself: therefore, O Haman! light me a (kiln to bake bricks) out of clay, and build me a lofty palace, that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!"

Surah 40 al-Ghāfir (The Forgiving One)
(40:37)

أَسْبَٰبَ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  فَأَطَّلِعَ  إِلَىٰٓ  إِلَٰهِ  مُوسَىٰ  وَإِنِّى  لَأَظُنُّهُۥ  كَٰذِبًا  وَكَذَٰلِكَ  زُيِّنَ  لِفِرْعَوْنَ  سُوٓءُ  عَمَلِهِۦ  وَصُدَّ  عَنِ  ٱلسَّبِيلِ  وَمَا  كَيْدُ  فِرْعَوْنَ  إِلَّا  فِى  تَبَابٍ asbāba l‑samāwāti fa‑aṭṭaliʿa ila ilāhi mūsā wa‑innī la‑aẓunnuhu kādhiban wa‑ka‑dhālika zuyyina li‑firʿawna sūu ʿamalihi wa‑ṣudda ʿani l‑sabīli wa‑mā kaydu firʿawna illā tabābin
"The ways and means of (reaching) the heavens, and that I may mount up to the god of Moses: But as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!" Thus was made alluring, in Pharaoh's eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the Path; and the plot of Pharaoh led to nothing but perdition (for him).

Surah 41 Fuṣṣilat (Revelations Well Expounded)
(41:50)

وَلَئِنْ  أَذَقْنَٰهُ  رَحْمَةً  مِّنَّا  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  ضَرَّآءَ  مَسَّتْهُ  لَيَقُولَنَّ  هَٰذَا  لِى  وَمَآ  أَظُنُّ  ٱلسَّاعَةَ  قَآئِمَةً  وَلَئِن  رُّجِعْتُ  إِلَىٰ  رَبِّىٓ  إِنَّ  لِى  عِندَهُۥ  لَلْحُسْنَىٰ  فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  بِمَا  عَمِلُوا۟  وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم  مِّنْ  عَذَابٍ  غَلِيظٍ wa‑lain adhaqnāhu raḥmatan minnā min baʿdi ḍarrāʾa massathu la‑yaqūlanna hādhā wa‑mā aẓunnu l‑sāʿata qāʾimatan wa‑laʾin rrujiʿtu ilā rabbī inna ʿindahu la‑l‑ḥusnā fa‑la‑nunabbiʾanna lladhīna kafarū bi‑mā ʿamilū wa‑la‑nudhīqannahum min ʿadhābin ghalīẓin
When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty.

Surah 45 al-Jāthiyah (The Kneeling)
(45:32)

وَإِذَا  قِيلَ  إِنَّ  وَعْدَ  ٱللَّـهِ  حَقٌّ  وَٱلسَّاعَةُ  لَا  رَيْبَ  فِيهَا  قُلْتُم  مَّا  نَدْرِى  مَا  ٱلسَّاعَةُ  إِن  نَّظُنُّ  إِلَّا  ظَنًّا  وَمَا  نَحْنُ  بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ wa‑idhā qīla inna waʿda allāhi ḥaqqun wa‑l‑sāʿatu rayba fīhā qultum nadrī l‑sāʿatu in naẓunnu illā ẓannan wa‑mā naḥnu bimustayqinīna
"And when it was said that the promise of Allah was true, and that the Hour- there was no doubt about its (coming), ye used to say, 'We know not what is the hour: we only think it is an idea, and we have no firm assurance.'"

Surah 69 al-Ḥāqqah (The Inevitable)
(69:20)

إِنِّى  ظَنَنتُ  أَنِّى  مُلَٰقٍ  حِسَابِيَهْ innī ẓanantu annī mulāqin ḥisābiyah
"I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!"

Surah 72 al-Jinn (The Jinn)
(72:5)

وَأَنَّا  ظَنَنَّآ  أَن  لَّن  تَقُولَ  ٱلْإِنسُ  وَٱلْجِنُّ  عَلَى  ٱللَّـهِ  كَذِبًا wa‑annā ẓanannā an lan taqūla l‑insu wa‑l‑jinnu ʿalā allāhi kadhiban
'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah.
(72:12)

وَأَنَّا  ظَنَنَّآ  أَن  لَّن  نُّعْجِزَ  ٱللَّـهَ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  وَلَن  نُّعْجِزَهُۥ  هَرَبًا wa‑annā ẓanannā an lan nuʿjiza allāha l‑arḍi wa‑lan nuʿjizahu haraban
'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight.
