قَالُوا۟  يَٰصَٰلِحُ  قَدْ  كُنتَ  فِينَا  مَرْجُوًّا  قَبْلَ  هَٰذَآ  أَتَنْهَىٰنَآ  أَن  نَّعْبُدَ  مَا  يَعْبُدُ  ءَابَآؤُنَا  وَإِنَّنَا  لَفِى  شَكٍّ  مِّمَّا  تَدْعُونَآ  إِلَيْهِ  مُرِيبٍ qālū yāṣāliḥu qad kunta fīnā marjūwan qabla hādhā atanhanā an nnaʿbuda yaʿbudu ābāʾunā wa‑innanā la‑fī shakkin mimmā tadʿūnā ilayhi murībin
They said: "O Salih! thou hast been of us! a centre of our hopes hitherto! dost thou (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers worshipped? But we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which thou invitest us."
(11:84)

وَإِلَىٰ  مَدْيَنَ  أَخَاهُمْ  شُعَيْبًا  قَالَ  يَٰقَوْمِ  ٱعْبُدُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  مَا  لَكُم  مِّنْ  إِلَٰهٍ  غَيْرُهُۥ  وَلَا  تَنقُصُوا۟  ٱلْمِكْيَالَ  وَٱلْمِيزَانَ  إِنِّىٓ  أَرَىٰكُم  بِخَيْرٍ  وَإِنِّىٓ  أَخَافُ  عَلَيْكُمْ  عَذَابَ  يَوْمٍ  مُّحِيطٍ wa‑ilā madyana akhāhum shuʿayban qalā yā‑qawmi iʿbudū allāha la‑kum min ilāhin ghayruhu wa‑lā tanquṣū l‑mikyāla wa‑l‑mīzāna innī arākum bi‑khayrin wainnī akhāfu ʿalaykum ʿadhāba yawmin muḥīṭin
To the Madyan People (We sent) Shu'aib, one of their own brethren: he said: "O my people! worship Allah: Ye have no other god but Him. And give not short measure or weight: I see you in prosperity, but I fear for you the penalty of a day that will compass (you) all round.
(11:109)

فَلَا  تَكُ  فِى  مِرْيَةٍ  مِّمَّا  يَعْبُدُ  هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ  مَا  يَعْبُدُونَ  إِلَّا  كَمَا  يَعْبُدُ  ءَابَآؤُهُم  مِّن  قَبْلُ  وَإِنَّا  لَمُوَفُّوهُمْ  نَصِيبَهُمْ  غَيْرَ  مَنقُوصٍ fa‑lā taku miryatin mimmā yaʿbudu hāʾulāʾi yaʿbudūna illā ka‑mā yaʿbudu ābāʾuhum min qablu wa‑innā la‑muwaffūhum naṣībahum ghayra manqūṣin
Be not then in doubt as to what these men worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them): but verily We shall pay them back (in full) their portion without (the least) abatement.

Surah 12 Yūsuf (Joseph)
(12:40)

مَا  تَعْبُدُونَ  مِن  دُونِهِۦٓ  إِلَّآ  أَسْمَآءً  سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ  أَنتُمْ  وَءَابَآؤُكُم  مَّآ  أَنزَلَ  ٱللَّـهُ  بِهَا  مِن  سُلْطَٰنٍ  إِنِ  ٱلْحُكْمُ  إِلَّا  لِلَّـهِ  أَمَرَ  أَلَّا  تَعْبُدُوٓا۟  إِلَّآ  إِيَّاهُ  ذَٰلِكَ  ٱلدِّينُ  ٱلْقَيِّمُ  وَلَٰكِنَّ  أَكْثَرَ  ٱلنَّاسِ  لَا  يَعْلَمُونَ taʿbudūna min dūnihi illā asmāʾan sammaytumūhā antum wa‑ābāukum anzala allāhu bihā min sulṭānin ini l‑ḥukmu illā lillāhi amara allā taʿbudū illā iyyāhu dhālika l‑dīnu l‑qayyimu wa‑lākinna akthara l‑nāsi yaʿlamūna
"If not Him, ye worship nothing but names which ye have named,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah hath sent down no authority: the command is for none but Allah: He hath commanded that ye worship none but Him: that is the right religion, but most men understand not...

Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham)
(14:35)

وَإِذْ  قَالَ  إِبْرَٰهِيمُ  رَبِّ  ٱجْعَلْ  هَٰذَا  ٱلْبَلَدَ  ءَامِنًا  وَٱجْنُبْنِى  وَبَنِىَّ  أَن  نَّعْبُدَ  ٱلْأَصْنَامَ wa‑idh qalā ibrāhīmu rabbi ajʿal hādhā l‑balada āminan wa‑ijnubnī wa‑baniyya an nnaʿbuda l‑aṣnāma
Remember Abraham said: "O my Lord! make this city one of peace and security: and preserve me and my sons from worshipping idols.

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:35)

وَقَالَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  أَشْرَكُوا۟  لَوْ  شَآءَ  ٱللَّـهُ  مَا  عَبَدْنَا  مِن  دُونِهِۦ  مِن  شَىْءٍ  نَّحْنُ  وَلَآ  ءَابَآؤُنَا  وَلَا  حَرَّمْنَا  مِن  دُونِهِۦ  مِن  شَىْءٍ  كَذَٰلِكَ  فَعَلَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  مِن  قَبْلِهِمْ  فَهَلْ  عَلَى  ٱلرُّسُلِ  إِلَّا  ٱلْبَلَٰغُ  ٱلْمُبِينُ wa‑qāla lladhīna ashrakū law shāʾa allāhu ʿabadnā min dūnihi min shayʾin nnaḥnu wa‑lā ābāʾunā wa‑lā ḥarramnā min dūnihi min shayʾin ka‑dhālika faʿala lladhīna min qablihim fa‑hal ʿalā l‑rusuli illā l‑balāghu l‑mubīnu
The worshippers of false gods say: "If Allah had so willed, we should not have worshipped aught but Him - neither we nor our fathers,- nor should we have prescribed prohibitions other than His." So did those who went before them. But what is the mission of messengers but to preach the Clear Message?
(16:36)

وَلَقَدْ  بَعَثْنَا  فِى  كُلِّ  أُمَّةٍ  رَّسُولًا  أَنِ  ٱعْبُدُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟  ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ  فَمِنْهُم  مَّنْ  هَدَى  ٱللَّـهُ  وَمِنْهُم  مَّنْ  حَقَّتْ  عَلَيْهِ  ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُ  فَسِيرُوا۟  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  فَٱنظُرُوا۟  كَيْفَ  كَانَ  عَٰقِبَةُ  ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ wa‑la‑qad baʿathnā kulli ummatin rrasūlan ani iʿbudū allāha wa‑ijtanibū l‑ṭāghūta fa‑minhum man hadā allāhu wa‑minhum man ḥaqqat ʿalayhi l‑ḍalālatu fa‑sīrū l‑arḍi fa‑inẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l‑mukadhdhibīna
For We assuredly sent amongst every People a messenger, (with the Command), "Serve Allah, and eschew Evil": of the People were some whom Allah guided, and some on whom error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who denied (the Truth).
(16:73)

وَيَعْبُدُونَ  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  مَا  لَا  يَمْلِكُ  لَهُمْ  رِزْقًا  مِّنَ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  شَيْـًٔا  وَلَا  يَسْتَطِيعُونَ wa‑yaʿbudūna min dūni allāhi yamliku lahum rizqan mina l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi shayʾan wa‑lā yastaṭīʿūna
And worship others than Allah,- such as have no power of providing them, for sustenance, with anything in heavens or earth, and cannot possibly have such power?
(16:114)

فَكُلُوا۟  مِمَّا  رَزَقَكُمُ  ٱللَّـهُ  حَلَٰلًا  طَيِّبًا  وَٱشْكُرُوا۟  نِعْمَتَ  ٱللَّـهِ  إِن  كُنتُمْ  إِيَّاهُ  تَعْبُدُونَ fa‑kulū mimmā razaqakumu allāhu ḥalālan ṭayyiban wa‑ishkurū niʿmata allāhi in kuntum iyyāhu taʿbudūna
So eat of the sustenance which Allah has provided for you, lawful and good; and be grateful for the favours of Allah, if it is He Whom ye serve.

Surah 17 al-Isrāʾ (The Children of Israel)
(17:23)

Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour.

Surah 18 al-Kahf (The Cave)
(18:16)

وَإِذِ  ٱعْتَزَلْتُمُوهُمْ  وَمَا  يَعْبُدُونَ  إِلَّا  ٱللَّـهَ  فَأْوُۥٓا۟  إِلَى  ٱلْكَهْفِ  يَنشُرْ  لَكُمْ  رَبُّكُم  مِّن  رَّحْمَتِهِۦ  وَيُهَيِّئْ  لَكُم  مِّنْ  أَمْرِكُم  مِّرْفَقًا wa‑idhi iʿtazaltumūhum wa‑mā yaʿbudūna illā allāha fawu ilā l‑kahfi yanshur la‑kum rabbukum min rraḥmatihi wa‑yuhayyiʾ la‑kum min amrikum mirfaqan
"When ye turn away from them and the things they worship other than Allah, betake yourselves to the Cave: Your Lord will shower His mercies on you and disposes of your affair towards comfort and ease."

Surah 19 Maryam (Mary)
(19:36)

وَإِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  رَبِّى  وَرَبُّكُمْ  فَٱعْبُدُوهُ  هَٰذَا  صِرَٰطٌ  مُّسْتَقِيمٌ wa‑inna allāha rabbī wa‑rabbukum fa‑iʿbudūhu hādhā ṣirāṭun mustaqīmun
Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve ye: this is a Way that is straight.
(19:49)

فَلَمَّا  ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ  وَمَا  يَعْبُدُونَ  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَهَبْنَا  لَهُۥٓ  إِسْحَٰقَ  وَيَعْقُوبَ  وَكُلًّا  جَعَلْنَا  نَبِيًّا fa‑lammā iʿtazalahum wa‑mā yaʿbudūna min dūni allāhi wahabnā lahu isḥāqa wa‑yaʿqūba wa‑kullan jaʿalnā nabiyyan
When he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and each one of them We made a prophet.

Surah 21 al-Anbiyāʾ (The Prophets)
(21:25)

وَمَآ  أَرْسَلْنَا  مِن  قَبْلِكَ  مِن  رَّسُولٍ  إِلَّا  نُوحِىٓ  إِلَيْهِ  أَنَّهُۥ  لَآ  إِلَٰهَ  إِلَّآ  أَنَا۠  فَٱعْبُدُونِ wa‑mā arsalnā min qablika min rrasūlin illā nuḥyi ilayhi annahu ilāha illā anā fa‑iʿbudūni
Not a messenger did We send before thee without this inspiration sent by Us to him: that there is no god but I; therefore worship and serve Me.
(21:66)

قَالَ  أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  مَا  لَا  يَنفَعُكُمْ  شَيْـًٔا  وَلَا  يَضُرُّكُمْ qalā a‑fa‑taʿbudūna min dūni allāhi yanfaʿukum shayʾan wa‑lā yaḍurrukum
(Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm?
(21:67)

أُفٍّ  لَّكُمْ  وَلِمَا  تَعْبُدُونَ  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ uffin la‑kum wa‑limā taʿbudūna min dūni allāhi a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
"Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?"..
(21:92)

إِنَّ  هَٰذِهِۦٓ  أُمَّتُكُمْ  أُمَّةً  وَٰحِدَةً  وَأَنَا۠  رَبُّكُمْ  فَٱعْبُدُونِ inna hādhihi ummatukum ummatan wāḥidatan wa‑anā rabbukum fa‑iʿbudūni
Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore serve Me (and no other).
(21:98)

Verily ye, (unbelievers), and the (false) gods that ye worship besides Allah, are (but) fuel for Hell! to it will ye (surely) come!

Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage)
(22:71)

Yet they worship, besides Allah, things for which no authority has been sent down to them, and of which they have (really) no knowledge: for those that do wrong there is no helper.
(22:77)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  ٱرْكَعُوا۟  وَٱسْجُدُوا۟  وَٱعْبُدُوا۟  رَبَّكُمْ  وَٱفْعَلُوا۟  ٱلْخَيْرَ  لَعَلَّكُمْ  تُفْلِحُونَ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū irkaʿū wa‑isjudū wa‑iʿbudū rabbakum wa‑ifʿalū l‑khayra la‑ʿallakum tufliḥūna
O ye who believe! bow down, prostrate yourselves, and adore your Lord; and do good; that ye may prosper.

Surah 23 al-Muʾminūn (The Believers)
(23:23)

وَلَقَدْ  أَرْسَلْنَا  نُوحًا  إِلَىٰ  قَوْمِهِۦ  فَقَالَ  يَٰقَوْمِ  ٱعْبُدُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  مَا  لَكُم  مِّنْ  إِلَٰهٍ  غَيْرُهُۥٓ  أَفَلَا  تَتَّقُونَ wa‑la‑qad arsalnā nūḥan ilā qawmihi fa‑qāla yā‑qawmi iʿbudū allāha la‑kum min ilāhin ghayruhu a‑fa‑lā tattaqūna
(Further, We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction). We sent Noah to his people: He said, "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"
(23:32)

فَأَرْسَلْنَا  فِيهِمْ  رَسُولًا  مِّنْهُمْ  أَنِ  ٱعْبُدُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  مَا  لَكُم  مِّنْ  إِلَٰهٍ  غَيْرُهُۥٓ  أَفَلَا  تَتَّقُونَ fa‑arsalnā fīhim rasūlan minhum ani iʿbudū allāha la‑kum min ilāhin ghayruhu a‑fa‑lā tattaqūna
And We sent to them a messenger from among themselves, (saying), "Worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"

Surah 24 al-Nūr (The Light)
(24:55)

وَعَدَ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  مِنكُمْ  وَعَمِلُوا۟  ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ  لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  كَمَا  ٱسْتَخْلَفَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  مِن  قَبْلِهِمْ  وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ  لَهُمْ  دِينَهُمُ  ٱلَّذِى  ٱرْتَضَىٰ  لَهُمْ  وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم  مِّنۢ  بَعْدِ  خَوْفِهِمْ  أَمْنًا  يَعْبُدُونَنِى  لَا  يُشْرِكُونَ  بِى  شَيْـًٔا  وَمَن  كَفَرَ  بَعْدَ  ذَٰلِكَ  فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ  هُمُ  ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ waʿada allāhu lladhīna āmanū minkum wa‑ʿamilū l‑ṣāliḥāti la‑yastakhlifannahum l‑arḍi ka‑mā istakhlafa lladhīna min qablihim wa‑la‑yumakkinanna lahum dīnahumu alladhī irtaḍā lahum wa‑la‑yubaddilannahum min baʿdi khawfihim amnan yaʿbudūnanī yushrikūna shayʾan wa‑man kafara baʿda dhālika fa‑ūlāʾika humu l‑fāsiqūna
Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion - the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace: 'They will worship Me (alone) and not associate aught with Me. 'If any do reject Faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked.

Surah 25 al-Furqān (The Criterion)
(25:17)

وَيَوْمَ  يَحْشُرُهُمْ  وَمَا  يَعْبُدُونَ  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  فَيَقُولُ  ءَأَنتُمْ  أَضْلَلْتُمْ  عِبَادِى  هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ  أَمْ  هُمْ  ضَلُّوا۟  ٱلسَّبِيلَ wa‑yawma yaḥshuruhum wa‑mā yaʿbudūna min dūni allāhi fa‑yaqūlu aʾantum aḍlaltum ʿibādī hāʾulāʾi am hum ḍallū l‑sabīla
The day He will gather them together as well as those whom they worship besides Allah, He will ask: "Was it ye who let these My servants astray, or did they stray from the Path themselves?"
