Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)

(6:57)

قُلْ  إِنِّى  عَلَىٰ  بَيِّنَةٍ  مِّن  رَّبِّى  وَكَذَّبْتُم  بِهِۦ  مَا  عِندِى  مَا  تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ  بِهِۦٓ  إِنِ  ٱلْحُكْمُ  إِلَّا  لِلَّـهِ  يَقُصُّ  ٱلْحَقَّ  وَهُوَ  خَيْرُ  ٱلْفَٰصِلِينَ qul innī ʿalā bayyinatin min rrabbī wa‑kadhdhabtum bihi ʿindī tastaʿjilūna bihi ini l‑ḥukmu illā lillāhi yaquṣṣu l‑ḥaqqa wa‑huwa khayru l‑fāṣilīna
Say: "For me, I (work) on a clear sign from my Lord, but ye reject Him. What ye would see hastened, is not in my power. The command rests with none but Allah: He declares the truth, and He is the best of judges."
(6:58)

قُل  لَّوْ  أَنَّ  عِندِى  مَا  تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ  بِهِۦ  لَقُضِىَ  ٱلْأَمْرُ  بَيْنِى  وَبَيْنَكُمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  أَعْلَمُ  بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ qul law annā ʿindī tastaʿjilūna bihi la‑quḍiya l‑amru baynī wa‑baynakum wallāhu aʿlamu bil‑ẓālimīna
Say: "If what ye would see hastened were in my power, the matter would be settled at once between you and me. But Allah knoweth best those who do wrong."

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:150)

وَلَمَّا  رَجَعَ  مُوسَىٰٓ  إِلَىٰ  قَوْمِهِۦ  غَضْبَٰنَ  أَسِفًا  قَالَ  بِئْسَمَا  خَلَفْتُمُونِى  مِنۢ  بَعْدِىٓ  أَعَجِلْتُمْ  أَمْرَ  رَبِّكُمْ  وَأَلْقَى  ٱلْأَلْوَاحَ  وَأَخَذَ  بِرَأْسِ  أَخِيهِ  يَجُرُّهُۥٓ  إِلَيْهِ  قَالَ  ٱبْنَ  أُمَّ  إِنَّ  ٱلْقَوْمَ  ٱسْتَضْعَفُونِى  وَكَادُوا۟  يَقْتُلُونَنِى  فَلَا  تُشْمِتْ  بِىَ  ٱلْأَعْدَآءَ  وَلَا  تَجْعَلْنِى  مَعَ  ٱلْقَوْمِ  ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ wa‑lammā rajaʿa mūsā ilā qawmihi ghaḍbāna asifan qalā biʾsamā khalaftumūnī min baʿdī aʿajiltum amra rabbikum wa‑alqa l‑alwāḥa wa‑akhadha bi‑raʾsi akhīhi yajurruhu ilayhi qalā ibna umma inna l‑qawma istaḍʿafūnī wa‑kādū yaqtulūnanī fa‑lā tushmit biya l‑aʿdāʾa wa‑lā tajʿalnī maʿa l‑qawmi l‑ẓālimīna
When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin."

Surah 10 Yūnus (Jonah)
(10:51)

أَثُمَّ  إِذَا  مَا  وَقَعَ  ءَامَنتُم  بِهِۦٓ  ءَآلْـَٰٔنَ  وَقَدْ  كُنتُم  بِهِۦ  تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ athumma‑ idhā waqaʿa āmantum bihi ālʾāna wa‑qad kuntum bihi tastaʿjilūna
"Would ye then believe in it at last, when it actually cometh to pass? (It will then be said): 'Ah! now? and ye wanted (aforetime) to hasten it on!'

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:1)

أَتَىٰٓ  أَمْرُ  ٱللَّـهِ  فَلَا  تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ  سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ  وَتَعَٰلَىٰ  عَمَّا  يُشْرِكُونَ ata amru allāhi fa‑lā tastaʿjilūhu subḥānahu wa‑taʿāla ʿammā yushrikūna
(Inevitable) cometh (to pass) the Command of Allah: seek ye not then to hasten it: Glory to Him, and far is He above having the partners they ascribe unto Him!

Surah 19 Maryam (Mary)
(19:84)

فَلَا  تَعْجَلْ  عَلَيْهِمْ  إِنَّمَا  نَعُدُّ  لَهُمْ  عَدًّا fa‑lā taʿjal ʿalayhim innamā naʿuddu lahum ʿaddan
So make no haste against them, for We but count out to them a (limited) number (of days).

Surah 20 Ṭā Hā (Ta-Ha)
(20:114)

فَتَعَٰلَى  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلْمَلِكُ  ٱلْحَقُّ  وَلَا  تَعْجَلْ  بِٱلْقُرْءَانِ  مِن  قَبْلِ  أَن  يُقْضَىٰٓ  إِلَيْكَ  وَحْيُهُۥ  وَقُل  رَّبِّ  زِدْنِى  عِلْمًا fa‑taʿālā allāhu l‑maliku l‑ḥaqqu wa‑lā taʿjal bil‑qurʾāni min qabli an yuqḍa ilayka waḥyuhu wa‑qul rrabbi zidnī ʿilman
High above all is Allah, the King, the Truth! Be not in haste with the Qur'an before its revelation to thee is completed, but say, "O my Lord! advance me in knowledge."

Surah 21 al-Anbiyāʾ (The Prophets)
(21:37)

خُلِقَ  ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ  مِنْ  عَجَلٍ  سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ  ءَايَٰتِى  فَلَا  تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ khuliqa l‑insānu min ʿajalin sa‑ūrīkum āyātī fa‑lā tastaʿjilūni
Man is a creature of haste: soon (enough) will I show you My Signs; then ye will not ask Me to hasten them!

Surah 27 al-Naml (The Ant)
(27:46)

قَالَ  يَٰقَوْمِ  لِمَ  تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ  بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ  قَبْلَ  ٱلْحَسَنَةِ  لَوْلَا  تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ  ٱللَّـهَ  لَعَلَّكُمْ  تُرْحَمُونَ qalā yā‑qawmi lima tastaʿjilūna bil‑sayyiʾati qabla l‑ḥasanati lawlā tastaghfirūna allāha la‑ʿallakum turḥamūna
He said: "O my people! why ask ye to hasten on the evil in preference to the good? If only ye ask Allah for forgiveness, ye may hope to receive mercy.
(27:72)

قُلْ  عَسَىٰٓ  أَن  يَكُونَ  رَدِفَ  لَكُم  بَعْضُ  ٱلَّذِى  تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ qul ʿasā an yakūna radifa la‑kum baʿḍu alladhī tastaʿjilūna
Say: "It may be that some of the events which ye wish to hasten on may be (close) in your pursuit!"

Surah 38 Ṣād (Sad)
(38:16)

وَقَالُوا۟  رَبَّنَا  عَجِّل  لَّنَا  قِطَّنَا  قَبْلَ  يَوْمِ  ٱلْحِسَابِ wa‑qālū rabbanā ʿajjil lanā qiṭṭanā qabla yawmi l‑ḥisābi
They say: "Our Lord! hasten to us our sentence (even) before the Day of Account!"

Surah 46 al-Aḥqāf (The Sandhills)
(46:24)

فَلَمَّا  رَأَوْهُ  عَارِضًا  مُّسْتَقْبِلَ  أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ  قَالُوا۟  هَٰذَا  عَارِضٌ  مُّمْطِرُنَا  بَلْ  هُوَ  مَا  ٱسْتَعْجَلْتُم  بِهِۦ  رِيحٌ  فِيهَا  عَذَابٌ  أَلِيمٌ fa‑lammā raʾawhu ʿāriḍan mustaqbila awdiyatihim qālū hādhā ʿāriḍun mumṭirunā bal huwa istaʿjaltum bihi rīḥun fīhā ʿadhābun alīmun
Then, when they saw the (Penalty in the shape of) a cloud traversing the sky, coming to meet their valleys, they said, "This cloud will give us rain!" "Nay, it is the (Calamity) ye were asking to be hastened!- A wind wherein is a Grievous Penalty!
(46:35)

فَٱصْبِرْ  كَمَا  صَبَرَ  أُو۟لُوا۟  ٱلْعَزْمِ  مِنَ  ٱلرُّسُلِ  وَلَا  تَسْتَعْجِل  لَّهُمْ  كَأَنَّهُمْ  يَوْمَ  يَرَوْنَ  مَا  يُوعَدُونَ  لَمْ  يَلْبَثُوٓا۟  إِلَّا  سَاعَةً  مِّن  نَّهَارٍۭ  بَلَٰغٌ  فَهَلْ  يُهْلَكُ  إِلَّا  ٱلْقَوْمُ  ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ fa‑iṣbir ka‑mā ṣabara ūlū l‑ʿazmi mina l‑rusuli wa‑lā tastaʿjil lahum ka‑annahum yawma yarawna yūʿadūna lam yalbathū illā sāʿatan min nahārin balāghun fa‑hal yuhlaku illā l‑qawmu l‑fāsiqūna
Therefore patiently persevere, as did (all) messengers of inflexible purpose; and be in no haste about the (Unbelievers). On the Day that they see the (Punishment) promised them, (it will be) as if they had not tarried more than an hour in a single day. (Thine but) to proclaim the Message: but shall any be destroyed except those who transgress?

Surah 51 al-Dhāriyāt (The Scatterers)
(51:14)

ذُوقُوا۟  فِتْنَتَكُمْ  هَٰذَا  ٱلَّذِى  كُنتُم  بِهِۦ  تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ dhūqū fitnatakum hādhā alladhī kuntum bihi tastaʿjilūna
"Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!"

Surah 75 al-Qiyāmah (The Resurrection)
(75:16)

لَا  تُحَرِّكْ  بِهِۦ  لِسَانَكَ  لِتَعْجَلَ  بِهِۦٓ tuḥarrik bihi li‑sānaka li‑taʿjala bihi
Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith.
