Surah 4 al-Nisāʾ (The Women)

(4:14)

وَمَن  يَعْصِ  ٱللَّـهَ  وَرَسُولَهُۥ  وَيَتَعَدَّ  حُدُودَهُۥ  يُدْخِلْهُ  نَارًا  خَٰلِدًا  فِيهَا  وَلَهُۥ  عَذَابٌ  مُّهِينٌ wa‑man yaʿṣi allāha wa‑rasūlahu wa‑yataʿadda ḥudūdahu yudkhilhu nāran khālidan fīhā walahu ʿadhābun muhīnun
But those who disobey Allah and His Messenger and transgress His limits will be admitted to a Fire, to abide therein: And they shall have a humiliating punishment.

Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)
(6:15)

قُلْ  إِنِّىٓ  أَخَافُ  إِنْ  عَصَيْتُ  رَبِّى  عَذَابَ  يَوْمٍ  عَظِيمٍ qul innī akhāfu in ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin
Say: "I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the penalty of a Mighty Day.

Surah 10 Yūnus (Jonah)
(10:15)

وَإِذَا  تُتْلَىٰ  عَلَيْهِمْ  ءَايَاتُنَا  بَيِّنَٰتٍ  قَالَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  لَا  يَرْجُونَ  لِقَآءَنَا  ٱئْتِ  بِقُرْءَانٍ  غَيْرِ  هَٰذَآ  أَوْ  بَدِّلْهُ  قُلْ  مَا  يَكُونُ  لِىٓ  أَنْ  أُبَدِّلَهُۥ  مِن  تِلْقَآئِ  نَفْسِىٓ  إِنْ  أَتَّبِعُ  إِلَّا  مَا  يُوحَىٰٓ  إِلَىَّ  إِنِّىٓ  أَخَافُ  إِنْ  عَصَيْتُ  رَبِّى  عَذَابَ  يَوْمٍ  عَظِيمٍ wa‑idhā tutlā ʿalayhim āyātunā bayyinātin qalā lladhīna yarjūna liqāʾanā iʾti bi‑qurʾānin ghayri hādhā aw baddilhu qul yakūnu an ubaddilahu min tilqāʾi nafsī in attabiʿu illā yūḥā ilayya innī akhāfu in ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin
But when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed unto them, those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, Say: "Bring us a reading other than this, or change this," Say: "It is not for me, of my own accord, to change it: I follow naught but what is revealed unto me: if I were to disobey my Lord, I should myself fear the penalty of a Great Day (to come)."
(10:91)

ءَآلْـَٰٔنَ  وَقَدْ  عَصَيْتَ  قَبْلُ  وَكُنتَ  مِنَ  ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ ālʾāna wa‑qad ʿaṣayta qablu wa‑kunta mina l‑mufsidīna
(It was said to him): "Ah now!- But a little while before, wast thou in rebellion!- and thou didst mischief (and violence)!

Surah 11 Hūd (Hud)
(11:63)

قَالَ  يَٰقَوْمِ  أَرَءَيْتُمْ  إِن  كُنتُ  عَلَىٰ  بَيِّنَةٍ  مِّن  رَّبِّى  وَءَاتَىٰنِى  مِنْهُ  رَحْمَةً  فَمَن  يَنصُرُنِى  مِنَ  ٱللَّـهِ  إِنْ  عَصَيْتُهُۥ  فَمَا  تَزِيدُونَنِى  غَيْرَ  تَخْسِيرٍ qalā yā‑qawmi a‑raʾaytum in kuntu ʿalā bayyinatin min rrabbī wa‑ātanī minhu raḥmatan fa‑man yanṣurunī mina allāhi in ʿaṣaytuhu fa‑mā tazīdūnanī ghayra takhsīrin
He said: "O my people! do ye see? if I have a Clear (Sign) from my Lord and He hath sent Mercy unto me from Himself,- who then can help me against Allah if I were to disobey Him? What then would ye add to my (portion) but perdition?

Surah 14 Ibrāhīm (Abraham)
(14:36)

رَبِّ  إِنَّهُنَّ  أَضْلَلْنَ  كَثِيرًا  مِّنَ  ٱلنَّاسِ  فَمَن  تَبِعَنِى  فَإِنَّهُۥ  مِنِّى  وَمَنْ  عَصَانِى  فَإِنَّكَ  غَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ rabbi innahunna aḍlalna kathīran mina l‑nāsi fa‑man tabiʿanī fa‑innahu minnī wa‑man ʿaṣānī fa‑innaka ghafūrun raḥīmun
"O my Lord! they have indeed led astray many among mankind; He then who follows my (ways) is of me, and he that disobeys me,- but Thou art indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah 18 al-Kahf (The Cave)
(18:69)

قَالَ  سَتَجِدُنِىٓ  إِن  شَآءَ  ٱللَّـهُ  صَابِرًا  وَلَآ  أَعْصِى  لَكَ  أَمْرًا qalā sa‑tajidunī in shāʾa allāhu ṣābiran wa‑lā aʿṣī la‑ka amran
Moses said: "Thou wilt find me, if Allah so will, (truly) patient: nor shall I disobey thee in aught."

Surah 20 Ṭā Hā (Ta-Ha)
(20:93)

أَلَّا  تَتَّبِعَنِ  أَفَعَصَيْتَ  أَمْرِى allā tattabiʿani a‑fa‑ʿaṣayta amrī
"From following me? Didst thou then disobey my order?"
(20:121)

فَأَكَلَا  مِنْهَا  فَبَدَتْ  لَهُمَا  سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا  وَطَفِقَا  يَخْصِفَانِ  عَلَيْهِمَا  مِن  وَرَقِ  ٱلْجَنَّةِ  وَعَصَىٰٓ  ءَادَمُ  رَبَّهُۥ  فَغَوَىٰ fa‑akalā minhā fa‑badat lahumā sawʾātuhumā wa‑ṭafiqā yakhṣifāni ʿalayhimā min waraqi l‑jannati wa‑ʿaṣā ādamu rabbahu fa‑ghawa
In the result, they both ate of the tree, and so their nakedness appeared to them: they began to sew together, for their covering, leaves from the Garden: thus did Adam disobey his Lord, and allow himself to be seduced.

Surah 33 al-Aḥzāb (The Allies)
(33:36)

وَمَا  كَانَ  لِمُؤْمِنٍ  وَلَا  مُؤْمِنَةٍ  إِذَا  قَضَى  ٱللَّـهُ  وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ  أَمْرًا  أَن  يَكُونَ  لَهُمُ  ٱلْخِيَرَةُ  مِنْ  أَمْرِهِمْ  وَمَن  يَعْصِ  ٱللَّـهَ  وَرَسُولَهُۥ  فَقَدْ  ضَلَّ  ضَلَٰلًا  مُّبِينًا wa‑mā kāna li‑muʾminin wa‑lā muʾminatin idhā qaḍa allāhu wa‑rasūluhu amran an yakūna lahumu l‑khiyaratu min amrihim wa‑man yaʿṣi allāha wa‑rasūlahu fa‑qad ḍalla ḍalālan mubīnan
It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.

Surah 39 al-Zumar (The Companies)
(39:13)

قُلْ  إِنِّىٓ  أَخَافُ  إِنْ  عَصَيْتُ  رَبِّى  عَذَابَ  يَوْمٍ  عَظِيمٍ qul innī akhāfu in ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿadhāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin
Say: "I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the Penalty of a Mighty Day."

Surah 72 al-Jinn (The Jinn)
(72:23)

إِلَّا  بَلَٰغًا  مِّنَ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِۦ  وَمَن  يَعْصِ  ٱللَّـهَ  وَرَسُولَهُۥ  فَإِنَّ  لَهُۥ  نَارَ  جَهَنَّمَ  خَٰلِدِينَ  فِيهَآ  أَبَدًا illā balāghan mina allāhi wa‑risālātihi wa‑man yaʿṣi allāha wa‑rasūlahu fa‑inna lahu nāra jahannama khālidīna fīhā abadan
"Unless I proclaim what I receive from Allah and His Messages: for any that disobey Allah and His Messenger,- for them is Hell: they shall dwell therein for ever."

Surah 73 al-Muzzammil (The Mantled One)
(73:16)

فَعَصَىٰ  فِرْعَوْنُ  ٱلرَّسُولَ  فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ  أَخْذًا  وَبِيلًا fa‑ʿaṣā firʿawun l‑rasūla fa‑akhadhnāhu akhdhan wabīlan
But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment.

Surah 79 al-Nāziʿāt (Those Who Pull Out)
(79:21)

فَكَذَّبَ  وَعَصَىٰ fa‑kadhdhaba wa‑ʿaṣa
But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance);
