Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(2:44)

أَتَأْمُرُونَ  ٱلنَّاسَ  بِٱلْبِرِّ  وَتَنسَوْنَ  أَنفُسَكُمْ  وَأَنتُمْ  تَتْلُونَ  ٱلْكِتَٰبَ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ ataʾmurūna l‑nāsa bil‑birri wa‑tansawna anfusakum wa‑antum tatlūna l‑kitāba a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
Do ye enjoin right conduct on the people, and forget (To practise it) yourselves, and yet ye study the Scripture? Will ye not understand?
(2:73)

So We said: "Strike the (body) with a piece of the (heifer)." Thus Allah bringeth the dead to life and showeth you His Signs: Perchance ye may understand.
(2:75)

أَفَتَطْمَعُونَ  أَن  يُؤْمِنُوا۟  لَكُمْ  وَقَدْ  كَانَ  فَرِيقٌ  مِّنْهُمْ  يَسْمَعُونَ  كَلَٰمَ  ٱللَّـهِ  ثُمَّ  يُحَرِّفُونَهُۥ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  مَا  عَقَلُوهُ  وَهُمْ  يَعْلَمُونَ afataṭmaʿūna an yuʾminū la‑kum wa‑qad kāna farīqun minhum yasmaʿūna kalāma allāhi thumma yuḥarrifūnahu min baʿdi ʿaqalūhu wa‑hum yaʿlamūna
Can ye (o ye men of Faith) entertain the hope that they will believe in you?- Seeing that a party of them heard the Word of Allah, and perverted it knowingly after they understood it.
(2:76)

وَإِذَا  لَقُوا۟  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  قَالُوٓا۟  ءَامَنَّا  وَإِذَا  خَلَا  بَعْضُهُمْ  إِلَىٰ  بَعْضٍ  قَالُوٓا۟  أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم  بِمَا  فَتَحَ  ٱللَّـهُ  عَلَيْكُمْ  لِيُحَآجُّوكُم  بِهِۦ  عِندَ  رَبِّكُمْ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ wa‑idhā laqū lladhīna āmanū qālū āmannā wa‑idhā khalā baʿḍuhum ilā baʿḍin qālū atuḥaddithūnahum bi‑mā fataḥa allāhu ʿalaykum li‑yuḥājjūkum bihi ʿinda rabbikum a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
Behold! when they meet the men of Faith, they say: "We believe": But when they meet each other in private, they say: "Shall you tell them what Allah hath revealed to you, that they may engage you in argument about it before your Lord?"- Do ye not understand (their aim)?
(2:164)

إِنَّ  فِى  خَلْقِ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  وَٱخْتِلَٰفِ  ٱلَّيْلِ  وَٱلنَّهَارِ  وَٱلْفُلْكِ  ٱلَّتِى  تَجْرِى  فِى  ٱلْبَحْرِ  بِمَا  يَنفَعُ  ٱلنَّاسَ  وَمَآ  أَنزَلَ  ٱللَّـهُ  مِنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مِن  مَّآءٍ  فَأَحْيَا  بِهِ  ٱلْأَرْضَ  بَعْدَ  مَوْتِهَا  وَبَثَّ  فِيهَا  مِن  كُلِّ  دَآبَّةٍ  وَتَصْرِيفِ  ٱلرِّيَٰحِ  وَٱلسَّحَابِ  ٱلْمُسَخَّرِ  بَيْنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  وَٱلْأَرْضِ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  لِّقَوْمٍ  يَعْقِلُونَ inna khalqi l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍi wa‑ikhtilāfi l‑layli wa‑l‑nahāri wa‑l‑fulki allatī tajrī l‑baḥri bi‑mā yanfaʿu l‑nāsa wa‑mā anzala allāhu mina l‑samāʾi min māʾin fa‑aḥyā bihi l‑arḍa baʿda mawtihā wa‑baththa fīhā min kulli dābbatin wa‑taṣrīfi l‑riyāḥi wa‑l‑saḥābi l‑mushkhkhari bayna l‑samāʾi wa‑l‑arḍi la‑āyātin li‑qawmin yaʿqilūna
Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.
(2:170)

وَإِذَا  قِيلَ  لَهُمُ  ٱتَّبِعُوا۟  مَآ  أَنزَلَ  ٱللَّـهُ  قَالُوا۟  بَلْ  نَتَّبِعُ  مَآ  أَلْفَيْنَا  عَلَيْهِ  ءَابَآءَنَآ  أَوَلَوْ  كَانَ  ءَابَآؤُهُمْ  لَا  يَعْقِلُونَ  شَيْـًٔا  وَلَا  يَهْتَدُونَ wa‑idhā qīla lahumu ittabiʿū anzala allāhu qālū bal nattabiʿu alfaynā ʿalayhi ābāʾanā awalaw kāna ābāʾuhum yaʿqilūna shayʾan wa‑lā yahtadūna
When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah hath revealed:" They say: "Nay! we shall follow the ways of our fathers." What! even though their fathers Were void of wisdom and guidance?
(2:171)

وَمَثَلُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  كَفَرُوا۟  كَمَثَلِ  ٱلَّذِى  يَنْعِقُ  بِمَا  لَا  يَسْمَعُ  إِلَّا  دُعَآءً  وَنِدَآءً  صُمٌّۢ  بُكْمٌ  عُمْىٌ  فَهُمْ  لَا  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑mathalu lladhīna kafarū ka‑mathali alladhī yanʿiqu bi‑mā yasmaʿu illā duʿāʾan wa‑nidāʾan ṣummun bukmun ʿumun fa‑hum yaʿqilūna
The parable of those who reject Faith is as if one were to shout Like a goat-herd, to things that listen to nothing but calls and cries: Deaf, dumb, and blind, they are void of wisdom.
(2:242)

Thus doth Allah Make clear His Signs to you: In order that ye may understand.

Surah 3 Āl-ʿImrān (The Family of Imran)
(3:65)

يَٰٓأَهْلَ  ٱلْكِتَٰبِ  لِمَ  تُحَآجُّونَ  فِىٓ  إِبْرَٰهِيمَ  وَمَآ  أُنزِلَتِ  ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ  وَٱلْإِنجِيلُ  إِلَّا  مِنۢ  بَعْدِهِۦٓ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ yāʾahla l‑kitābi lima tuḥājjūna ibrāhīma wa‑mā unzilati l‑tawratu wa‑alinjīlu illā min baʿdihi a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
Ye People of the Book! Why dispute ye about Abraham, when the Law and the Gospel Were not revealed Till after him? Have ye no understanding?
(3:118)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  لَا  تَتَّخِذُوا۟  بِطَانَةً  مِّن  دُونِكُمْ  لَا  يَأْلُونَكُمْ  خَبَالًا  وَدُّوا۟  مَا  عَنِتُّمْ  قَدْ  بَدَتِ  ٱلْبَغْضَآءُ  مِنْ  أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ  وَمَا  تُخْفِى  صُدُورُهُمْ  أَكْبَرُ  قَدْ  بَيَّنَّا  لَكُمُ  ٱلْأَيَٰتِ  إِن  كُنتُمْ  تَعْقِلُونَ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū tattakhidhū biṭānatan min dūnikum yalūnakum khabālan waddū ʿanittum qad badati l‑baghḍāʾu min afwāhihim wa‑mā tukhfī ṣudūruhum akbaru qad bayyannā lakumu l‑ayāti in kuntum taʿqilūna
O ye who believe! Take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks: They will not fail to corrupt you. They only desire your ruin: Rank hatred has already appeared from their mouths: What their hearts conceal is far worse. We have made plain to you the Signs, if ye have wisdom.

Surah 5 al-Māʾidah (The Table Spread)
(5:58)

When ye proclaim your call to prayer they take it (but) as mockery and sport; that is because they are a people without understanding.
(5:103)

It was not Allah who instituted (superstitions like those of) a slit-ear she-camel, or a she-camel let loose for free pasture, or idol sacrifices for twin-births in animals, or stallion-camels freed from work: It is blasphemers who invent a lie against Allah; but most of them lack wisdom.

Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)
(6:32)

وَمَا  ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ  ٱلدُّنْيَآ  إِلَّا  لَعِبٌ  وَلَهْوٌ  وَلَلدَّارُ  ٱلْأَخِرَةُ  خَيْرٌ  لِّلَّذِينَ  يَتَّقُونَ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ wa‑mā l‑ḥayātu l‑dunyā illā laʿibun wa‑lahwun wa‑lal‑dāru l‑akhiratu khayrun li‑lladhīna yattaqūna a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand?
(6:151)

قُلْ  تَعَالَوْا۟  أَتْلُ  مَا  حَرَّمَ  رَبُّكُمْ  عَلَيْكُمْ  أَلَّا  تُشْرِكُوا۟  بِهِۦ  شَيْـًٔا  وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ  إِحْسَٰنًا  وَلَا  تَقْتُلُوٓا۟  أَوْلَٰدَكُم  مِّنْ  إِمْلَٰقٍ  نَّحْنُ  نَرْزُقُكُمْ  وَإِيَّاهُمْ  وَلَا  تَقْرَبُوا۟  ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ  مَا  ظَهَرَ  مِنْهَا  وَمَا  بَطَنَ  وَلَا  تَقْتُلُوا۟  ٱلنَّفْسَ  ٱلَّتِى  حَرَّمَ  ٱللَّـهُ  إِلَّا  بِٱلْحَقِّ  ذَٰلِكُمْ  وَصَّىٰكُم  بِهِۦ  لَعَلَّكُمْ  تَعْقِلُونَ qul taʿālaw atlu ḥarrama rabbukum ʿalaykum allā tushrikū bihi shayʾan wa‑bil‑wālidayni iḥsānan wa‑lā taqtulū awlādakum min imlāqin nnaḥnu narzuqukum wa‑iyyāhum wa‑lā taqrabū l‑fawāḥisha ẓahara minhā wa‑mā baṭana wa‑lā taqtulū l‑nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil‑ḥaqqi dhālikum waṣṣakum bihi la‑ʿallakum taʿqilūna
Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:169)

فَخَلَفَ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِهِمْ  خَلْفٌ  وَرِثُوا۟  ٱلْكِتَٰبَ  يَأْخُذُونَ  عَرَضَ  هَٰذَا  ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ  وَيَقُولُونَ  سَيُغْفَرُ  لَنَا  وَإِن  يَأْتِهِمْ  عَرَضٌ  مِّثْلُهُۥ  يَأْخُذُوهُ  أَلَمْ  يُؤْخَذْ  عَلَيْهِم  مِّيثَٰقُ  ٱلْكِتَٰبِ  أَن  لَّا  يَقُولُوا۟  عَلَى  ٱللَّـهِ  إِلَّا  ٱلْحَقَّ  وَدَرَسُوا۟  مَا  فِيهِ  وَٱلدَّارُ  ٱلْأَخِرَةُ  خَيْرٌ  لِّلَّذِينَ  يَتَّقُونَ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ fa‑khalafa min baʿdihim khalfun warithū l‑kitāba yakhudhūna ʿaraḍa hādhā l‑adnā wa‑yaqūlūna sa‑yughfaru la‑nā wa‑in yaʾtihim ʿaraḍun mithluhu yakhudhūhu a‑lam yukhadh ʿalayhim mīthāqu l‑kitābi an yaqūlū ʿalā allāhi illā l‑ḥaqqa wa‑darasū fīhi wa‑l‑dāru l‑akhiratu khayrun li‑lladhīna yattaqūna a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
After them succeeded an (evil) generation: They inherited the Book, but they chose (for themselves) the vanities of this world, saying (for excuse): "(Everything) will be forgiven us." (Even so), if similar vanities came their way, they would (again) seize them. Was not the covenant of the Book taken from them, that they would not ascribe to Allah anything but the truth? and they study what is in the Book. But best for the righteous is the home in the Hereafter. Will ye not understand?

Surah 8 al-Anfāl (The Spoils of War)
(8:22)

For the worst of beasts in the sight of Allah are the deaf and the dumb,- those who understand not.

Surah 10 Yūnus (Jonah)
(10:16)

قُل  لَّوْ  شَآءَ  ٱللَّـهُ  مَا  تَلَوْتُهُۥ  عَلَيْكُمْ  وَلَآ  أَدْرَىٰكُم  بِهِۦ  فَقَدْ  لَبِثْتُ  فِيكُمْ  عُمُرًا  مِّن  قَبْلِهِۦٓ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ qul law shāʾa allāhu talawtuhu ʿalaykum wa‑lā adrakum bihi fa‑qad labithtu fīkum ʿumuran min qablihi a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
Say: "If Allah had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. A whole life-time before this have I tarried amongst you: will ye not then understand?"
(10:42)

وَمِنْهُم  مَّن  يَسْتَمِعُونَ  إِلَيْكَ  أَفَأَنتَ  تُسْمِعُ  ٱلصُّمَّ  وَلَوْ  كَانُوا۟  لَا  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑minhum man yastamiʿūna ilayka a‑fa‑anta tusmiʿu l‑ṣumma wa‑law kānū yaʿqilūna
Among them are some who (pretend to) listen to thee: But canst thou make the deaf to hear,- even though they are without understanding?
(10:100)

وَمَا  كَانَ  لِنَفْسٍ  أَن  تُؤْمِنَ  إِلَّا  بِإِذْنِ  ٱللَّـهِ  وَيَجْعَلُ  ٱلرِّجْسَ  عَلَى  ٱلَّذِينَ  لَا  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑mā kāna li‑nafsin an tumina illā bi‑idhni allāhi wa‑yajʿalu l‑rijsa ʿalā lladhīna yaʿqilūna
No soul can believe, except by the will of Allah, and He will place doubt (or obscurity) on those who will not understand.

Surah 11 Hūd (Hud)
(11:51)

يَٰقَوْمِ  لَآ  أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ  عَلَيْهِ  أَجْرًا  إِنْ  أَجْرِىَ  إِلَّا  عَلَى  ٱلَّذِى  فَطَرَنِىٓ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ yā‑qawmi asʾalukum ʿalayhi ajran in ajriya illā ʿalā alladhī faṭaranī a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
"O my people! I ask of you no reward for this (Message). My reward is from none but Him who created me: Will ye not then understand?

Surah 12 Yūsuf (Joseph)
(12:2)

We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an, in order that ye may learn wisdom.
(12:109)

وَمَآ  أَرْسَلْنَا  مِن  قَبْلِكَ  إِلَّا  رِجَالًا  نُّوحِىٓ  إِلَيْهِم  مِّنْ  أَهْلِ  ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ  أَفَلَمْ  يَسِيرُوا۟  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  فَيَنظُرُوا۟  كَيْفَ  كَانَ  عَٰقِبَةُ  ٱلَّذِينَ  مِن  قَبْلِهِمْ  وَلَدَارُ  ٱلْأَخِرَةِ  خَيْرٌ  لِّلَّذِينَ  ٱتَّقَوْا۟  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ wa‑mā arsalnā min qablika illā rijālan nnūḥī ilayhim min ahli al‑qura a‑fa‑lam yasīrū l‑arḍi fa‑yanẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu lladhīna min qablihim wa‑ladāru l‑akhirati khayrun li‑lladhīna ittaqaw a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
Nor did We send before thee (as messengers) any but men, whom we did inspire,- (men) living in human habitations. Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? But the home of the hereafter is best, for those who do right. Will ye not then understand?

Surah 13 al-Raʿd (The Thunder)
(13:4)

وَفِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  قِطَعٌ  مُّتَجَٰوِرَٰتٌ  وَجَنَّٰتٌ  مِّنْ  أَعْنَٰبٍ  وَزَرْعٌ  وَنَخِيلٌ  صِنْوَانٌ  وَغَيْرُ  صِنْوَانٍ  يُسْقَىٰ  بِمَآءٍ  وَٰحِدٍ  وَنُفَضِّلُ  بَعْضَهَا  عَلَىٰ  بَعْضٍ  فِى  ٱلْأُكُلِ  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  لِّقَوْمٍ  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑fī l‑arḍi qiṭaʿun mutajāwirātun wa‑jannātun min aʿnābin wa‑zarʿun wa‑nakhīlun ṣinwānun wa‑ghayru ṣinwānin yusqa bi‑māʾin wāḥidin wa‑nufaḍḍilu baʿḍahā ʿalā baʿḍin l‑ukuli inna dhālika la‑āyātin li‑qawmin yaʿqilūna
And in the earth are tracts (diverse though) neighbouring, and gardens of vines and fields sown with corn, and palm trees - growing out of single roots or otherwise: watered with the same water, yet some of them We make more excellent than others to eat. Behold, verily in these things there are signs for those who understand!

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:12)

He has made subject to you the Night and the Day; the sun and the moon; and the stars are in subjection by His Command: verily in this are Signs for men who are wise.
(16:67)

وَمِن  ثَمَرَٰتِ  ٱلنَّخِيلِ  وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبِ  تَتَّخِذُونَ  مِنْهُ  سَكَرًا  وَرِزْقًا  حَسَنًا  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَةً  لِّقَوْمٍ  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑min thamarāti l‑nakhīli wa‑l‑aʿnābi tattakhidhūna minhu sakaran wa‑rizqan ḥasanan inna dhālika la‑āyatan li‑qawmin yaʿqilūna
And from the fruit of the date-palm and the vine, ye get out wholesome drink and food: behold, in this also is a sign for those who are wise.

Surah 21 al-Anbiyāʾ (The Prophets)
(21:10)

لَقَدْ  أَنزَلْنَآ  إِلَيْكُمْ  كِتَٰبًا  فِيهِ  ذِكْرُكُمْ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ la‑qad anzalnā ilaykum kitāban fīhi dhikrukum a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand?
(21:67)

أُفٍّ  لَّكُمْ  وَلِمَا  تَعْبُدُونَ  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ uffin la‑kum wa‑limā taʿbudūna min dūni allāhi a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
"Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?"..

Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage)
(22:46)

أَفَلَمْ  يَسِيرُوا۟  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  فَتَكُونَ  لَهُمْ  قُلُوبٌ  يَعْقِلُونَ  بِهَآ  أَوْ  ءَاذَانٌ  يَسْمَعُونَ  بِهَا  فَإِنَّهَا  لَا  تَعْمَى  ٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ  وَلَٰكِن  تَعْمَى  ٱلْقُلُوبُ  ٱلَّتِى  فِى  ٱلصُّدُورِ a‑fa‑lam yasīrū l‑arḍi fa‑takūna lahum qulūbun yaʿqilūna bihā aw ādhānun yasmaʿūna bihā fainnahā taʿma l‑abṣāru wa‑lākin taʿma l‑qulūbu allatī l‑ṣudūri
Do they not travel through the land, so that their hearts (and minds) may thus learn wisdom and their ears may thus learn to hear? Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts.

Surah 23 al-Muʾminūn (The Believers)
(23:80)

وَهُوَ  ٱلَّذِى  يُحْىِۦ  وَيُمِيتُ  وَلَهُ  ٱخْتِلَٰفُ  ٱلَّيْلِ  وَٱلنَّهَارِ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ wa‑huwa alladhī yuḥyi wa‑yumītu wa‑lahu ikhtilāfu l‑layli wa‑l‑nahāri a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
It is He Who gives life and death, and to Him (is due) the alternation of Night and Day: will ye not then understand?

Surah 24 al-Nūr (The Light)
(24:61)

لَّيْسَ  عَلَى  ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ  حَرَجٌ  وَلَا  عَلَى  ٱلْأَعْرَجِ  حَرَجٌ  وَلَا  عَلَى  ٱلْمَرِيضِ  حَرَجٌ  وَلَا  عَلَىٰٓ  أَنفُسِكُمْ  أَن  تَأْكُلُوا۟  مِنۢ  بُيُوتِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  ءَابَآئِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  إِخْوَٰنِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  أَخَوَٰتِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  أَعْمَٰمِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  عَمَّٰتِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  أَخْوَٰلِكُمْ  أَوْ  بُيُوتِ  خَٰلَٰتِكُمْ  أَوْ  مَا  مَلَكْتُم  مَّفَاتِحَهُۥٓ  أَوْ  صَدِيقِكُمْ  لَيْسَ  عَلَيْكُمْ  جُنَاحٌ  أَن  تَأْكُلُوا۟  جَمِيعًا  أَوْ  أَشْتَاتًا  فَإِذَا  دَخَلْتُم  بُيُوتًا  فَسَلِّمُوا۟  عَلَىٰٓ  أَنفُسِكُمْ  تَحِيَّةً  مِّنْ  عِندِ  ٱللَّـهِ  مُبَٰرَكَةً  طَيِّبَةً  كَذَٰلِكَ  يُبَيِّنُ  ٱللَّـهُ  لَكُمُ  ٱلْأَيَٰتِ  لَعَلَّكُمْ  تَعْقِلُونَ laysa ʿalā l‑aʿmā ḥarajun wa‑lā ʿalā l‑aʿraji ḥarajun wa‑lā ʿalā l‑marīḍi ḥarajun wa‑lā ʿala anfusikum an taʾkulū min buyūtikum aw buyūti ābāʾikum aw buyūti ummahātikum aw buyūti ikhwānikum aw buyūti akhawātikum aw buyūti aʿmāmikum aw buyūti ʿammātikum aw buyūti akhwālikum aw buyūti khālātikum aw malaktum mafātiḥahu aw ṣadīqikum laysa ʿalaykum junāḥun an taʾkulū jamīʿan aw ashtātan fa‑idhā dakhaltum buyūtan fasallimū ʿala anfusikum taḥiyyatan min ʿindi allāhi mubārakatan ṭayyibatan ka‑dhālika yubayyinu allāhu lakumu l‑ayāti la‑ʿallakum taʿqilūna
It is no fault in the blind nor in one born lame, nor in one afflicted with illness, nor in yourselves, that ye should eat in your own houses, or those of your fathers, or your mothers, or your brothers, or your sisters, or your father's brothers or your father's sisters, or your mohter's brothers, or your mother's sisters, or in houses of which the keys are in your possession, or in the house of a sincere friend of yours: there is no blame on you, whether ye eat in company or separately. But if ye enter houses, salute each other - a greeting of blessing and purity as from Allah. Thus does Allah make clear the signs to you: that ye may understand.

Surah 25 al-Furqān (The Criterion)
(25:44)

أَمْ  تَحْسَبُ  أَنَّ  أَكْثَرَهُمْ  يَسْمَعُونَ  أَوْ  يَعْقِلُونَ  إِنْ  هُمْ  إِلَّا  كَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ  بَلْ  هُمْ  أَضَلُّ  سَبِيلًا am taḥsabu annā aktharahum yasmaʿūna aw yaʿqilūna in hum illā ka‑l‑anʿāmi bal hum aḍallu sabīlan
Or thinkest thou that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle;- nay, they are worse astray in Path.

Surah 26 al-Shuʿarā (The Poets)
(26:28)

قَالَ  رَبُّ  ٱلْمَشْرِقِ  وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ  وَمَا  بَيْنَهُمَآ  إِن  كُنتُمْ  تَعْقِلُونَ qalā rabbu l‑mashriqi wa‑l‑maghribi wa‑mā baynahumā in kuntum taʿqilūna
(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"

Surah 28 al-Qaṣaṣ (The Narrative)
(28:60)

وَمَآ  أُوتِيتُم  مِّن  شَىْءٍ  فَمَتَٰعُ  ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ  ٱلدُّنْيَا  وَزِينَتُهَا  وَمَا  عِندَ  ٱللَّـهِ  خَيْرٌ  وَأَبْقَىٰٓ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ wa‑mā ūtītum min shayʾin fa‑matāʿu l‑ḥayāti l‑dunyā wa‑zīnatuhā wa‑mā ʿinda allāhi khayrun wa‑abqā a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
The (material) things which ye are given are but the conveniences of this life and the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah is better and more enduring: will ye not then be wise?

Surah 29 al-ʿAnkabūt (The Spider)
(29:35)

And We have left thereof an evident Sign, for any people who (care to) understand.
(29:43)

And such are the Parables We set forth for mankind, but only those understand them who have knowledge.
(29:63)

وَلَئِن  سَأَلْتَهُم  مَّن  نَّزَّلَ  مِنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مَآءً  فَأَحْيَا  بِهِ  ٱلْأَرْضَ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِ  مَوْتِهَا  لَيَقُولُنَّ  ٱللَّـهُ  قُلِ  ٱلْحَمْدُ  لِلَّـهِ  بَلْ  أَكْثَرُهُمْ  لَا  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑laʾin saʾaltahum man nnazzala mina l‑samāʾi māʾan fa‑aḥyā bihi l‑arḍa min baʿdi mawtihā la‑yaqūlunna allāhu quli l‑ḥamdu lillāhi bal aktharuhum yaʿqilūna
And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, "Allah!" Say, "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them understand not.

Surah 30 al-Rūm (The Romans)
(30:24)

وَمِنْ  ءَايَٰتِهِۦ  يُرِيكُمُ  ٱلْبَرْقَ  خَوْفًا  وَطَمَعًا  وَيُنَزِّلُ  مِنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مَآءً  فَيُحْىِۦ  بِهِ  ٱلْأَرْضَ  بَعْدَ  مَوْتِهَآ  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  لِّقَوْمٍ  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑min āyātihi yurīkumu l‑barqa khawfan wa‑ṭamaʿan wa‑yunazzilu mina l‑samāʾi māʾan fa‑yuḥyi bihi l‑arḍa baʿda mawtihā inna dhālika la‑āyātin li‑qawmin yaʿqilūna
And among His Signs, He shows you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope, and He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: verily in that are Signs for those who are wise.
(30:28)

ضَرَبَ  لَكُم  مَّثَلًا  مِّنْ  أَنفُسِكُمْ  هَل  لَّكُم  مِّن  مَّا  مَلَكَتْ  أَيْمَٰنُكُم  مِّن  شُرَكَآءَ  فِى  مَا  رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ  فَأَنتُمْ  فِيهِ  سَوَآءٌ  تَخَافُونَهُمْ  كَخِيفَتِكُمْ  أَنفُسَكُمْ  كَذَٰلِكَ  نُفَصِّلُ  ٱلْأَيَٰتِ  لِقَوْمٍ  يَعْقِلُونَ ḍaraba la‑kum mathalan min anfusikum hal llakum min malakat aymānukum min shurakāʾa razaqnākum faantum fīhi sawāʾun takhāfūnahum kakhīfatikum anfusakum ka‑dhālika nufaṣṣilu l‑ayāti li‑qawmin yaʿqilūna
He does propound to you a similitude from your own (experience): do ye have partners among those whom your right hands possess, to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you? Do ye fear them as ye fear each other? Thus do we explain the Signs in detail to a people that understand.

Surah 36 Yā Sin (Ya Sin)
(36:62)

وَلَقَدْ  أَضَلَّ  مِنكُمْ  جِبِلًّا  كَثِيرًا  أَفَلَمْ  تَكُونُوا۟  تَعْقِلُونَ wa‑la‑qad aḍalla minkum jibillan kathīran a‑fa‑lam takūnū taʿqilūna
"But he did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did ye not, then, understand?
(36:68)

وَمَن  نُّعَمِّرْهُ  نُنَكِّسْهُ  فِى  ٱلْخَلْقِ  أَفَلَا  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑man nnuʿammirhu nunakkishu l‑khalqi a‑fa‑lā yaʿqilūna
If We grant long life to any, We cause him to be reversed in nature: Will they not then understand?

Surah 37 al-Ṣaffāt (The Rangers)
(37:138)

وَبِٱلَّيْلِ  أَفَلَا  تَعْقِلُونَ wa‑bil‑layli a‑fa‑lā taʿqilūna
And by night: will ye not understand?

Surah 39 al-Zumar (The Companies)
(39:43)

أَمِ  ٱتَّخَذُوا۟  مِن  دُونِ  ٱللَّـهِ  شُفَعَآءَ  قُلْ  أَوَلَوْ  كَانُوا۟  لَا  يَمْلِكُونَ  شَيْـًٔا  وَلَا  يَعْقِلُونَ ami ittakhadhū min dūni allāhi shufaʿāʾa qul awalaw kānū yamlikūna shayʾan wa‑lā yaʿqilūna
What! Do they take for intercessors others besides Allah? Say: "Even if they have no power whatever and no intelligence?"

Surah 40 al-Ghāfir (The Forgiving One)
(40:67)

هُوَ  ٱلَّذِى  خَلَقَكُم  مِّن  تُرَابٍ  ثُمَّ  مِن  نُّطْفَةٍ  ثُمَّ  مِنْ  عَلَقَةٍ  ثُمَّ  يُخْرِجُكُمْ  طِفْلًا  ثُمَّ  لِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟  أَشُدَّكُمْ  ثُمَّ  لِتَكُونُوا۟  شُيُوخًا  وَمِنكُم  مَّن  يُتَوَفَّىٰ  مِن  قَبْلُ  وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟  أَجَلًا  مُّسَمًّى  وَلَعَلَّكُمْ  تَعْقِلُونَ huwa alladhī khalaqakum min turābin thumma min nuṭfatin thumma min ʿalaqatin thumma yukhrijukum ṭiflan thumma li‑tablughū ashuddakum thumma li‑takūnū shuyūkhan wa‑minkum man yutawaffā min qablu wa‑li‑tablughū ajalan musamman wa‑la‑ʿallakum taʿqilūna
It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm-drop, then from a leech-like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old,- though of you there are some who die before;- and lets you reach a Term appointed; in order that ye may learn wisdom.

Surah 43 al-Zukhruf (The Embellishment)
(43:3)

We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom).

Surah 45 al-Jāthiyah (The Kneeling)

وَٱخْتِلَٰفِ  ٱلَّيْلِ  وَٱلنَّهَارِ  وَمَآ  أَنزَلَ  ٱللَّـهُ  مِنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مِن  رِّزْقٍ  فَأَحْيَا  بِهِ  ٱلْأَرْضَ  بَعْدَ  مَوْتِهَا  وَتَصْرِيفِ  ٱلرِّيَٰحِ  ءَايَٰتٌ  لِّقَوْمٍ  يَعْقِلُونَ wa‑ikhtilāfi l‑layli wa‑l‑nahāri wa‑mā anzala allāhu mina l‑samāʾi min rrizqin fa‑aḥyā bihi l‑arḍa baʿda mawtihā wa‑taṣrīfi l‑riyāḥi āyātun li‑qawmin yaʿqilūna
And in the alternation of Night and Day, and the fact that Allah sends down Sustenance from the sky, and revives therewith the earth after its death, and in the change of the winds,- are Signs for those that are wise.

Surah 49 al-Ḥujurāt (The Chambers)

إِنَّ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يُنَادُونَكَ  مِن  وَرَآءِ  ٱلْحُجُرَٰتِ  أَكْثَرُهُمْ  لَا  يَعْقِلُونَ inna lladhīna yunādūnaka min warāʾi l‑ḥujurāti aktharuhum yaʿqilūna
Those who shout out to thee from without the inner apartments - most of them lack understanding.

Know ye (all) that Allah giveth life to the earth after its death! already have We shown the Signs plainly to you, that ye may learn wisdom.

Surah 59 al-Ḥashr (The Exile)
(59:14)

لَا  يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ  جَمِيعًا  إِلَّا  فِى  قُرًى  مُّحَصَّنَةٍ  أَوْ  مِن  وَرَآءِ  جُدُرٍۭ  بَأْسُهُم  بَيْنَهُمْ  شَدِيدٌ  تَحْسَبُهُمْ  جَمِيعًا  وَقُلُوبُهُمْ  شَتَّىٰ  ذَٰلِكَ  بِأَنَّهُمْ  قَوْمٌ  لَّا  يَعْقِلُونَ yuqātilūnakum jamīʿan illā quran muḥaṣṣanatin aw min warāʾi judurin basuhum baynahum shadīdun taḥsabuhum jamīʿan waqulūbuhum shatta dhālika bi‑annahum qawmun yaʿqilūna
They will not fight you (even) together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls. Strong is their fighting (spirit) amongst themselves: thou wouldst think they were united, but their hearts are divided: that is because they are a people devoid of wisdom.

Surah 67 al-Mulk (The Kingdom)
(67:10)

They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!"
