Sura al-Baqara 2:44

أَتَأْمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلْبِرِّ وَتَنسَوْنَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَتْلُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

ataʾmurūna l-nāsa bil-birri wa-tansawna anfusakum wa-antum tatlūna l-kitāba a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Do ye enjoin right conduct on the people, and forget (To practise it) yourselves, and yet ye study the Scripture? Will ye not understand?

Sura al-Baqara 2:73

فَقُلْنَا ٱضْرِبُوهُ بِبَعْضِهَا كَذَٰلِكَ يُحْىِ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

fa-qulnā iḍribūhu bibaʿḍihā ka-dhālika yuḥyi allāhu l-mawtā wa-yurīkum āyātihi la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

So We said: "Strike the (body) with a piece of the (heifer)." Thus Allah bringeth the dead to life and showeth you His Signs: Perchance ye may understand.

Sura al-Baqara 2:76

وَإِذَا لَقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ قَالُوٓا۟ أَتُحَدِّثُونَهُم بِمَا فَتَحَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لِيُحَآجُّوكُم بِهِۦ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-idhā laqū lladhīna āmanū qālū āmannā wa-idhā khalā baʿḍuhum ilā baʿḍin qālū atuḥaddithūnahum bi-mā fataḥa allāhu ʿalaykum li-yuḥājjūkum bihi ʿinda rabbikum a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Behold! when they meet the men of Faith, they say: "We believe": But when they meet each other in private, they say: "Shall you tell them what Allah hath revealed to you, that they may engage you in argument about it before your Lord?"- Do ye not understand (their aim)?

Sura al-Baqara 2:242

كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

ka-dhālika yubayyinu allāhu la-kum āyātihi la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

Thus doth Allah Make clear His Signs to you: In order that ye may understand.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:65

يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تُحَآجُّونَ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَتِ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ وَٱلْإِنجِيلُ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

yāʾahla l-kitābi lima tuḥājjūna fī ibrāhīma wa-mā unzilati l-tawratu wa-alinjīlu illā min baʿdihi a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Ye People of the Book! Why dispute ye about Abraham, when the Law and the Gospel Were not revealed Till after him? Have ye no understanding?

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:118

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ بِطَانَةً مِّن دُونِكُمْ لَا يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالًا وَدُّوا۟ مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ ٱلْبَغْضَآءُ مِنْ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِى صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū biṭānatan min dūnikum lā yalūnakum khabālan waddū mā ʿanittum qad badati l-baghḍāʾu min afwāhihim wa-mā tukhfī ṣudūruhum akbaru qad bayyannā lakumu l-ayāti in kuntum taʿqilūna

O ye who believe! Take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks: They will not fail to corrupt you. They only desire your ruin: Rank hatred has already appeared from their mouths: What their hearts conceal is far worse. We have made plain to you the Signs, if ye have wisdom.

Sura al-Anʿām 6:32

وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَلَلدَّارُ ٱلْأَخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-mā l-ḥayātu l-dunyā illā laʿibun wa-lahwun wa-lal-dāru l-akhiratu khayrun li-lladhīna yattaqūna a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand?

Sura al-Anʿām 6:151

قُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَٰنًا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُم مِّنْ إِمْلَٰقٍ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

qul taʿālaw atlu mā ḥarrama rabbukum ʿalaykum allā tushrikū bihi shayʾan wa-bil-wālidayni iḥsānan wa-lā taqtulū awlādakum min imlāqin nnaḥnu narzuqukum wa-iyyāhum wa-lā taqrabū l-fawāḥisha mā ẓahara minhā wa-mā baṭana wa-lā taqtulū l-nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil-ḥaqqi dhālikum waṣṣakum bihi la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:169

فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَٰذَا ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَا وَإِن يَأْتِهِمْ عَرَضٌ مِّثْلُهُۥ يَأْخُذُوهُ أَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِم مِّيثَٰقُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَن لَّا يَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ إِلَّا ٱلْحَقَّ وَدَرَسُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ وَٱلدَّارُ ٱلْأَخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

fa-khalafa min baʿdihim khalfun warithū l-kitāba yakhudhūna ʿaraḍa hādhā l-adnā wa-yaqūlūna sa-yughfaru la-nā wa-in yaʾtihim ʿaraḍun mithluhu yakhudhūhu a-lam yukhadh ʿalayhim mīthāqu l-kitābi an lā yaqūlū ʿalā allāhi illā l-ḥaqqa wa-darasū mā fīhi wa-l-dāru l-akhiratu khayrun li-lladhīna yattaqūna a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

After them succeeded an (evil) generation: They inherited the Book, but they chose (for themselves) the vanities of this world, saying (for excuse): "(Everything) will be forgiven us." (Even so), if similar vanities came their way, they would (again) seize them. Was not the covenant of the Book taken from them, that they would not ascribe to Allah anything but the truth? and they study what is in the Book. But best for the righteous is the home in the Hereafter. Will ye not understand?

Sura Yūnus 10:16

قُل لَّوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّـهُ مَا تَلَوْتُهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَآ أَدْرَىٰكُم بِهِۦ فَقَدْ لَبِثْتُ فِيكُمْ عُمُرًا مِّن قَبْلِهِۦٓ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

qul law shāʾa allāhu mā talawtuhu ʿalaykum wa-lā adrakum bihi fa-qad labithtu fīkum ʿumuran min qablihi a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Say: "If Allah had so willed, I should not have rehearsed it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. A whole life-time before this have I tarried amongst you: will ye not then understand?"

Sura Hūd 11:51

يَٰقَوْمِ لَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنِىٓ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

yā-qawmi lā asʾalukum ʿalayhi ajran in ajriya illā ʿalā alladhī faṭaranī a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

"O my people! I ask of you no reward for this (Message). My reward is from none but Him who created me: Will ye not then understand?

Sura Yūsuf 12:2

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

innā anzalnāhu qurānan ʿarabiyyan la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an, in order that ye may learn wisdom.

Sura Yūsuf 12:109

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَدَارُ ٱلْأَخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-mā arsalnā min qablika illā rijālan nnūḥī ilayhim min ahli al-qura a-fa-lam yasīrū fī l-arḍi fa-yanẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu lladhīna min qablihim wa-ladāru l-akhirati khayrun li-lladhīna ittaqaw a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

Nor did We send before thee (as messengers) any but men, whom we did inspire,- (men) living in human habitations. Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? But the home of the hereafter is best, for those who do right. Will ye not then understand?

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:10

لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَٰبًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

la-qad anzalnā ilaykum kitāban fīhi dhikrukum a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand?

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:67

أُفٍّ لَّكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّـهِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

uffin la-kum wa-limā taʿbudūna min dūni allāhi a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

"Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?"..

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:80

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ ٱخْتِلَٰفُ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-huwa alladhī yuḥyi wa-yumītu wa-lahu ikhtilāfu l-layli wa-l-nahāri a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

It is He Who gives life and death, and to Him (is due) the alternation of Night and Day: will ye not then understand?

Sura al-Nūr 24:61

لَّيْسَ عَلَى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَن تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنۢ بُيُوتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ ءَابَآئِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ إِخْوَٰنِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أَخَوَٰتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أَعْمَٰمِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ عَمَّٰتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ أَخْوَٰلِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ خَٰلَٰتِكُمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكْتُم مَّفَاتِحَهُۥٓ أَوْ صَدِيقِكُمْ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَأْكُلُوا۟ جَمِيعًا أَوْ أَشْتَاتًا فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُم بُيُوتًا فَسَلِّمُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ تَحِيَّةً مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّـهِ مُبَٰرَكَةً طَيِّبَةً كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

laysa ʿalā l-aʿmā ḥarajun wa-lā ʿalā l-aʿraji ḥarajun wa-lā ʿalā l-marīḍi ḥarajun wa-lā ʿala anfusikum an taʾkulū min buyūtikum aw buyūti ābāʾikum aw buyūti ummahātikum aw buyūti ikhwānikum aw buyūti akhawātikum aw buyūti aʿmāmikum aw buyūti ʿammātikum aw buyūti akhwālikum aw buyūti khālātikum aw mā malaktum mafātiḥahu aw ṣadīqikum laysa ʿalaykum junāḥun an taʾkulū jamīʿan aw ashtātan fa-idhā dakhaltum buyūtan fasallimū ʿala anfusikum taḥiyyatan min ʿindi allāhi mubārakatan ṭayyibatan ka-dhālika yubayyinu allāhu lakumu l-ayāti la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

It is no fault in the blind nor in one born lame, nor in one afflicted with illness, nor in yourselves, that ye should eat in your own houses, or those of your fathers, or your mothers, or your brothers, or your sisters, or your father's brothers or your father's sisters, or your mohter's brothers, or your mother's sisters, or in houses of which the keys are in your possession, or in the house of a sincere friend of yours: there is no blame on you, whether ye eat in company or separately. But if ye enter houses, salute each other - a greeting of blessing and purity as from Allah. Thus does Allah make clear the signs to you: that ye may understand.

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:28

قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

qalā rabbu l-mashriqi wa-l-maghribi wa-mā baynahumā in kuntum taʿqilūna

(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"

Sura al-Qaṣaṣ 28:60

وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَمَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتُهَا وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-mā ūtītum min shayʾin fa-matāʿu l-ḥayāti l-dunyā wa-zīnatuhā wa-mā ʿinda allāhi khayrun wa-abqā a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

The (material) things which ye are given are but the conveniences of this life and the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah is better and more enduring: will ye not then be wise?

Sura Yā Sin 36:62

وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-la-qad aḍalla minkum jibillan kathīran a-fa-lam takūnū taʿqilūna

"But he did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did ye not, then, understand?

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:138

وَبِٱلَّيْلِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

wa-bil-layli a-fa-lā taʿqilūna

And by night: will ye not understand?

Sura al-Ghāfir 40:67

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا۟ شُيُوخًا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

huwa alladhī khalaqakum min turābin thumma min nuṭfatin thumma min ʿalaqatin thumma yukhrijukum ṭiflan thumma li-tablughū ashuddakum thumma li-takūnū shuyūkhan wa-minkum man yutawaffā min qablu wa-li-tablughū ajalan musamman wa-la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

It is He Who has created you from dust then from a sperm-drop, then from a leech-like clot; then does he get you out (into the light) as a child: then lets you (grow and) reach your age of full strength; then lets you become old,- though of you there are some who die before;- and lets you reach a Term appointed; in order that ye may learn wisdom.

Sura al-Zukhruf 43:3

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

innā jaʿalnāhu qurānan ʿarabiyyan la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom).

Sura al-Ḥadīd 57:17

ٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يُحْىِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ ٱلْأَيَٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

aʿlamū annā allāha yuḥyi l-arḍa baʿda mawtihā qad bayyannā lakumu l-ayāti la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna

Know ye (all) that Allah giveth life to the earth after its death! already have We shown the Signs plainly to you, that ye may learn wisdom.
