Sura al-Baqara 2:249

فَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوتُ بِٱلْجُنُودِ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ مُبْتَلِيكُم بِنَهَرٍ فَمَن شَرِبَ مِنْهُ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّى وَمَن لَّمْ يَطْعَمْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنِّىٓ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱغْتَرَفَ غُرْفَةًۢ بِيَدِهِۦ فَشَرِبُوا۟ مِنْهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّنْهُمْ فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُۥ هُوَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ قَالُوا۟ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا ٱلْيَوْمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَٰقُوا۟ ٱللَّـهِ كَم مِّن فِئَةٍ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كَثِيرَةًۢ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ

fa-lammā faṣala ṭālūtu bil-junūdi qalā inna allāha mubtalīkum binaharin fa-man shariba minhu fa-laysa minnī wa-man lam yaṭʿamhu fa-innahu minnī illā mani ightarafa ghurfatan bi-yadihi fa-sharibū minhu illā qalīlan minhum fa-lammā jāwazahu huwa wa-lladhīna āmanū maʿahu qālū lā ṭāqata la-nā l-yawma bi-jālūta wa-junūdihi qalā lladhīna yaẓunnūna annahum mulāqū allāhi kam min fiʾatin qalīlatin ghalabat fiatan kathīratan bi-idhni allāhi wallāhu maʿa l-ṣābirīna

When Talut set forth with the armies, he said: "Allah will test you at the stream: if any drinks of its water, He goes not with my army: Only those who taste not of it go with me: A mere sip out of the hand is excused." but they all drank of it, except a few. When they crossed the river,- He and the faithful ones with him,- they said: "This day We cannot cope with Goliath and his forces." but those who were convinced that they must meet Allah, said: "How oft, by Allah's will, Hath a small force vanquished a big one? Allah is with those who steadfastly persevere."

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:74

فَلْيُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَمَن يُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَيُقْتَلْ أَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا

fa-l-yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi lladhīna yashrūna l-ḥayāta l-dunyā bil-akhirati wa-man yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi fa-yuqtal aw yaghlib fa-sawfa nuʾtīhi ajran ʿaẓīman

Let those fight in the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah,- whether he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great (value).

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:119

فَغُلِبُوا۟ هُنَالِكَ وَٱنقَلَبُوا۟ صَٰغِرِينَ

fa-ghulibū hunālika wa-inqalabū ṣāghirīna

So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:36

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ

inna lladhīna kafarū yunfiqūna amwālahum li-yaṣuddū ʿan sabīli allāhi fa-sa-yunfiqūnahā thumma takūnu ʿalayhim ḥasratan thumma yughlabūna wa-lladhīna kafarū ilā jahannama yuḥsharūna

The Unbelievers spend their wealth to hinder (man) from the path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend; but in the end they will have (only) regrets and sighs; at length they will be overcome: and the Unbelievers will be gathered together to Hell;-

Sura al-Anfāl 8:65

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ حَرِّضِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى ٱلْقِتَالِ إِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَٰبِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا۟ مِا۟ئَتَيْنِ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّا۟ئَةٌ يَغْلِبُوٓا۟ أَلْفًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ

yā-ayyuhā l-nabiyyu ḥarriḍi l-muʾminīna ʿalā l-qitāli in yakun minkum ʿishrūna ṣābirūna yaghlibū miʾatayni wa-in yakun minkum miʾatun yaghlibū alfan mina lladhīna kafarū bi-annahum qawmun lā yafqahūna

O Prophet! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:66

ٱلْـَٰٔنَ خَفَّفَ ٱللَّـهُ عَنكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفًا فَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّا۟ئَةٌ صَابِرَةٌ يَغْلِبُوا۟ مِا۟ئَتَيْنِ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ أَلْفٌ يَغْلِبُوٓا۟ أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ

l-ana khaffafa allāhu ʿankum wa-ʿalima annā fīkum ḍaʿfan fa-in yakun minkum miʾatun ṣābiratun yaghlibū miʾatayni wa-in yakun minkum alfun yaghlibū alfayni bi-idhni allāhi wallāhu maʿa l-ṣābirīna

For the present, Allah hath lightened your (task), for He knoweth that there is a weak spot in you: But (even so), if there are a hundred of you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred, and if a thousand, they will vanquish two thousand, with the leave of Allah: for Allah is with those who patiently persevere.

Sura al-Kahf 18:21

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَعْثَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّـهِ حَقٌّ وَأَنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَآ إِذْ يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَمْرَهُمْ فَقَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ عَلَيْهِم بُنْيَٰنًا رَّبُّهُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِهِمْ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ غَلَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرِهِمْ لَنَتَّخِذَنَّ عَلَيْهِم مَّسْجِدًا

wa-ka-dhālika aʿtharnā ʿalayhim li-yaʿlamū annā waʿda allāhi ḥaqqun wa-anna l-sāʿata lā rayba fīhā idh yatanāzaʿūna baynahum amrahum fa-qālū ibnū ʿalayhim bunyānan rrabbuhum aʿlamu bihim qalā lladhīna ghalabū ʿala amrihim la-nattakhidhanna ʿalayhim masjidan

Thus did We make their case known to the people, that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour of Judgment. Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. (Some) said, "Construct a building over them": Their Lord knows best about them: those who prevailed over their affair said, "Let us surely build a place of worship over them."

Sura al-Muʾminūn 23:106

قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًا ضَآلِّينَ

qālū rabbanā ghalabat ʿalaynā shiqwatunā wa-kunnā qawman ḍāllīna

They will say: "our Lord! Our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we became a people astray!

Sura al-Rūm 30:2

غُلِبَتِ ٱلرُّومُ

ghulibati l-rūmu

The Roman Empire has been defeated-

Sura al-Rūm 30:3

فِىٓ أَدْنَى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَيَغْلِبُونَ

fī adnā l-arḍi wa-hum min baʿdi ghalabihim sayaghlibūna

In a land close by; but they, (even) after (this) defeat of theirs, will soon be victorious-
