إِذْ  تَمْشِىٓ  أُخْتُكَ  فَتَقُولُ  هَلْ  أَدُلُّكُمْ  عَلَىٰ  مَن  يَكْفُلُهُۥ  فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ  إِلَىٰٓ  أُمِّكَ  كَىْ  تَقَرَّ  عَيْنُهَا  وَلَا  تَحْزَنَ  وَقَتَلْتَ  نَفْسًا  فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ  مِنَ  ٱلْغَمِّ  وَفَتَنَّٰكَ  فُتُونًا  فَلَبِثْتَ  سِنِينَ  فِىٓ  أَهْلِ  مَدْيَنَ  ثُمَّ  جِئْتَ  عَلَىٰ  قَدَرٍ  يَٰمُوسَىٰ idh tamshī ukhtuka fa‑taqūlu hal adullukum ʿalā man yakfuluhu farajaʿnāka ila ummika kay taqarra ʿaynuhā wa‑lā taḥzana wa‑qatalta nafsan fa‑najjaynāka mina l‑ghammi wa‑fatannāka futūnan fa‑labithta sinīna ahli madyana thumma jiʾta ʿalā qadarin yā‑mūsā
"Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' So We brought thee back to thy mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve. Then thou didst slay a man, but We saved thee from trouble, and We tried thee in various ways. Then didst thou tarry a number of years with the people of Midian. Then didst thou come hither as ordained, O Moses!
(20:85)

(Allah) said: "We have tested thy people in thy absence: the Samiri has led them astray."
(20:131)

Nor strain thine eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to parties of them, the splendour of the life of this world, through which We test them: but the provision of thy Lord is better and more enduring.

Surah 29 al-ʿAnkabūt (The Spider)
(29:3)

We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.

Surah 38 Ṣād (Sad)
(38:24)

قَالَ  لَقَدْ  ظَلَمَكَ  بِسُؤَالِ  نَعْجَتِكَ  إِلَىٰ  نِعَاجِهِۦ  وَإِنَّ  كَثِيرًا  مِّنَ  ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ  لَيَبْغِى  بَعْضُهُمْ  عَلَىٰ  بَعْضٍ  إِلَّا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  وَعَمِلُوا۟  ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ  وَقَلِيلٌ  مَّا  هُمْ  وَظَنَّ  دَاوُۥدُ  أَنَّمَا  فَتَنَّٰهُ  فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ  رَبَّهُۥ  وَخَرَّ  رَاكِعًا  وَأَنَابَ qalā la‑qad ẓalamaka bi‑suʾāli naʿjatika ilā niʿājihi wa‑inna kathīran mina l‑khulaṭāʾi la‑yabghī baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin illā lladhīna āmanū wa‑ʿamilū l‑ṣāliḥāti wa‑qalīlun hum wa‑ẓanna dāwudu annamā fatannāhu fa‑istaghfara rabbahu wa‑kharra rākiʿan wa‑anāba
(David) said: "He has undoubtedly wronged thee in demanding thy (single) ewe to be added to his (flock of) ewes: truly many are the partners (in business) who wrong each other: Not so do those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and how few are they?"...and David gathered that We had tried him: he asked forgiveness of his Lord, fell down, bowing (in prostration), and turned (to Allah in repentance).
(38:34)

"That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty.
