Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:127

وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِى ٱلنِّسَآءِ قُلِ ٱللَّـهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِيهِنَّ وَمَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ فِى يَتَٰمَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ ٱلَّٰتِى لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَن تَنكِحُوهُنَّ وَٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ وَأَن تَقُومُوا۟ لِلْيَتَٰمَىٰ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمًا

wa-yastaftūnaka fī l-nisāʾi quli allāhu yuftīkum fī-hinna wa-mā yutlā ʿalaykum fī l-kitābi fī yatāma l-nisāʾi allātī lā tutūnahunna mā kutiba la-hunna wa-targhabūna an tankiḥūhunna wa-l-mustaḍʿafīna mina l-wildāni wa-an taqūmū lil-yatāma bil-qisṭi wa-mā tafʿalū min khayrin fa-inna allāha kāna bihi ʿalīman

They ask thy instruction concerning the women say: Allah doth instruct you about them: And (remember) what hath been rehearsed unto you in the Book, concerning the orphans of women to whom ye give not the portions prescribed, and yet whom ye desire to marry, as also concerning the children who are weak and oppressed: that ye stand firm for justice to orphans. There is not a good deed which ye do, but Allah is well-acquainted therewith.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:176

يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلِ ٱللَّـهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِى ٱلْكَلَٰلَةِ إِنِ ٱمْرُؤٌا۟ هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَآ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهَا وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَتَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا ٱلثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَ وَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَةً رِّجَالًا وَنِسَآءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمْ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ وَٱللَّـهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ

yastaftūnaka quli allāhu yuftīkum fī l-kalālati ini imrūʾun halaka laysa lahu waladun wa-lahu ukhtun fa-lahā niṣfu mā taraka wa-huwa yarithuhā in lam yakun llahā waladun fa-in kānatā ithnatayni falahumā l-thuluthāni mimmā taraka wa-in kānū ikhwatan rrijālan wa-nisāan fa-lil-dhakari mithlu ḥaẓẓi l-unthayayni yubayyinu allāhu la-kum an taḍillū wallāhu bi-kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun

They ask thee for a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) about those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs. If it is a man that dies, leaving a sister but no child, she shall have half the inheritance: If (such a deceased was) a woman, who left no child, Her brother takes her inheritance: If there are two sisters, they shall have two-thirds of the inheritance (between them): if there are brothers and sisters, (they share), the male having twice the share of the female. Thus doth Allah make clear to you (His law), lest ye err. And Allah hath knowledge of all things.

Sura Yūsuf 12:41

يَٰصَىٰحِبَىِ ٱلسِّجْنِ أَمَّآ أَحَدُكُمَا فَيَسْقِى رَبَّهُۥ خَمْرًا وَأَمَّا ٱلْأَخَرُ فَيُصْلَبُ فَتَأْكُلُ ٱلطَّيْرُ مِن رَّأْسِهِۦ قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ تَسْتَفْتِيَانِ

yā-ṣāḥibayi l-sijni ammā aḥadukumā fa-yasqī rabbahu khamran wa-ammā l-akharu fa-yuṣlabu fa-takulu l-ṭayru min rrasihi quḍiya l-amru alladhī fīhi tastaftiyāni

"O my two companions of the prison! As to one of you, he will pour out the wine for his lord to drink: as for the other, he will hang from the cross, and the birds will eat from off his head. (so) hath been decreed that matter whereof ye twain do enquire"...

Sura Yūsuf 12:43

وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ سَبْعَ بَقَرَٰتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعَ سُنۢبُلَٰتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَٰتٍ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِى فِى رُءْيَٰىَ إِن كُنتُمْ لِلرُّءْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ

wa-qāla l-maliku innī ara sabʿa baqarātin simānin yaʾkuluhunna sabʿun ʿijāfun wa-sabʿa sunbulātin khuḍrin wa-ukhara yābisātin yā-ayyuhā l-malaʾu aftūnī fī ruʾyāya in kuntum lil-ruʾyā taʿburūna

The king (of Egypt) said: "I do see (in a vision) seven fat kine, whom seven lean ones devour, and seven green ears of corn, and seven (others) withered. O ye chiefs! Expound to me my vision if it be that ye can interpret visions."

Sura Yūsuf 12:46

يُوسُفُ أَيُّهَا ٱلصِّدِّيقُ أَفْتِنَا فِى سَبْعِ بَقَرَٰتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعِ سُنۢبُلَٰتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَٰتٍ لَّعَلِّىٓ أَرْجِعُ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

yūsufu ayyuhā l-ṣiddīqu aftinā fī sabʿi baqarātin simānin yaʾkuluhunna sabʿun ʿijāfun wa-sabʿi sunbulātin khuḍrin wa-ukhara yābisātin laʿallī arjiʿu ilā l-nāsi la-ʿallahum yaʿlamūna

"O Joseph!" (he said) "O man of truth! Expound to us (the dream) of seven fat kine whom seven lean ones devour, and of seven green ears of corn and (seven) others withered: that I may return to the people, and that they may understand."

Sura al-Kahf 18:22

سَيَقُولُونَ ثَلَٰثَةٌ رَّابِعُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ خَمْسَةٌ سَادِسُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ رَجْمًۢا بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَيَقُولُونَ سَبْعَةٌ وَثَامِنُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ قُل رَّبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِعِدَّتِهِم مَّا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ فَلَا تُمَارِ فِيهِمْ إِلَّا مِرَآءً ظَٰهِرًا وَلَا تَسْتَفْتِ فِيهِم مِّنْهُمْ أَحَدًا

sa-yaqūlūna thalāthatun rrābiʿuhum kalbuhum wa-yaqūlūna khamsatun sādisuhum kalbuhum rajman bil-ghaybi wa-yaqūlūna sabʿatun wa-thāminuhum kalbuhum qul rrabbī aʿlamu biʿiddatihim mā yaʿlamuhum illā qalīlun fa-lā tumāri fīhim illā mirāʾan ẓāhiran wa-lā tastafti fīhim minhum aḥadan

(Some) say they were three, the dog being the fourth among them; (others) say they were five, the dog being the sixth,- doubtfully guessing at the unknown; (yet others) say they were seven, the dog being the eighth. Say thou: "My Lord knoweth best their number; It is but few that know their (real case)." Enter not, therefore, into controversies concerning them, except on a matter that is clear, nor consult any of them about (the affair of) the Sleepers.

Sura al-Naml 27:32

قَالَتْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ أَفْتُونِى فِىٓ أَمْرِى مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِ

qālat yā-ayyuhā l-malaʾu aftūnī fī amrī mā kuntu qāṭiʿatan amran ḥattā tashhadūni

She said: "Ye chiefs! advise me in (this) my affair: no affair have I decided except in your presence."

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:11

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ

fa-istaftihim a-hum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnā innā khalaqnāhum min ṭīnin lāzibin

Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:149

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ

fa-istaftihim a-li-rabbika l-banātu wa-lahumu l-banūna

Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?-
