(2:54) | وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنفُسَكُم بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِندَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ | wa‑idh qalā mūsā li‑qawmihi yā‑qawmi innakum ẓalamtum anfusakum bi‑ttikhādhikumu l‑ʿijla fatūbū ilā bāriʾikum fa‑aqtulū anfusakum dhālikum khayrun la‑kum ʿinda bāriʾikum fatāba ʿalaykum innahu huwa l‑tawwābu l‑raḥīmu | And remember Moses said to his people: "O my people! Ye have
indeed wronged yourselves by your worship of the calf: So turn (in
repentance) to your Maker, and slay yourselves (the wrong-doers); that will
be better for you in the sight of your Maker." Then He turned towards you
(in forgiveness): For He is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.
Sura al-Baqara 2:54 وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنفُسَكُم بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِندَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ wa-idh qalā mūsā li-qawmihi yā-qawmi innakum ẓalamtum anfusakum bi-ttikhādhikumu l-ʿijla fatūbū ilā bāriʾikum fa-aqtulū anfusakum dhālikum khayrun la-kum ʿinda bāriʾikum fatāba ʿalaykum innahu huwa l-tawwābu l-raḥīmu And remember Moses said to his people: "O my people! (2:61) | وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصْبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامٍ وَٰحِدٍ فَٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنۢ بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّآئِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ ٱلَّذِى هُوَ أَدْنَىٰ بِٱلَّذِى هُوَ خَيْرٌ ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِصْرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ | wa‑idh qultum yā‑mūsā lan naṣbira ʿalā ṭaʿāmin wāḥidin fa‑idʿu la‑nā rabbaka yukhrij la‑nā mimmā tunbitu l‑arḍu min baqlihā wa‑qiththāʾihā wa‑fūmihā wa‑ʿadasihā wa‑baṣalihā qalā atastabdilūna alladhī huwa adnā bi‑lladhī huwa khayrun ahbiṭū miṣran fa‑inna la‑kum mā saʾaltum waḍuribat ʿalayhimu l‑dhillatu wa‑l‑maskanatu wa‑bāʾū bighaḍabin mina allāhi dhālika bi‑annahum kānū yakfurūna bi‑āyāti allāhi wa‑yaqtulūna l‑nabiyyina bi‑ghayri l‑ḥaqqi dhālika bi‑mā ʿaṣaw wa‑kānū yaʿtadūna | And remember ye said: "O Moses! we cannot endure one kind of
food (always); so beseech thy Lord for us to produce for us of what the
earth groweth, -its pot-herbs, and cucumbers, Its garlic, lentils, and
onions." He said: "Will ye exchange the better for the worse? Go ye down to
any town, and ye shall find what ye want!" They were covered with
humiliation and misery; they drew on themselves the wrath of Allah. This
because they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah and slaying His Messengers
without just cause. This because they rebelled and went on transgressing.
Sura al-Baqara 2:61 وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصْبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامٍ وَٰحِدٍ فَٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنۢ بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّآئِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ ٱلَّذِى هُوَ أَدْنَىٰ بِٱلَّذِى هُوَ خَيْرٌ ٱهْبِطُوا۟ مِصْرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ wa-idh qultum yā-mūsā lan naṣbira ʿalā ṭaʿāmin wāḥidin fa-idʿu la-nā rabbaka yukhrij la-nā mimmā tunbitu l-arḍu min baqlihā wa-qiththāʾihā wa-fūmihā wa-ʿadasihā wa-baṣalihā qalā atastabdilūna alladhī huwa adnā bi-lladhī huwa khayrun ahbiṭū miṣran fa-inna la-kum mā saʾaltum waḍuribat ʿalayhimu l-dhillatu wa-l-maskanatu wa-bāʾū bighaḍabin mina allāhi dhālika bi-annahum kānū yakfurūna bi-āyāti allāhi wa-yaqtulūna l-nabiyyina bi-ghayri l-ḥaqqi dhālika bi-mā ʿaṣaw wa-kānū yaʿtadūna And remember ye said: "O Moses! we cannot endure one kind of food (always); so beseech thy Lord for us to produce for us of what the earth groweth, -its pot-herbs, and cucumbers, Its garlic, lentils, and onions." He said: "Will ye exchange the better for the worse? Go ye down to any town, and ye shall find what ye want!" They were covered with humiliation and misery; they drew on themselves the wrath of Allah. This because they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah and slaying His Messengers without just cause. (2:72) | وَإِذْ قَتَلْتُمْ نَفْسًا فَٱدَّٰرَْٰٔتُمْ فِيهَا وَٱللَّـهُ مُخْرِجٌ مَّا كُنتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ | wa‑idh qataltum nafsan fa‑iddārāʾtum fīhā wallāhu mukhrijun mā kuntum taktumūna | Remember ye slew a man and fell into a dispute among
yourselves as to the crime: But Allah was to bring forth what ye did hide.
Sura al-Baqara 2:72 وَإِذْ قَتَلْتُمْ نَفْسًا فَٱدَّٰرَْٰٔتُمْ فِيهَا وَٱللَّـهُ مُخْرِجٌ مَّا كُنتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ wa-idh qataltum nafsan fa-iddārāʾtum fīhā wallāhu mukhrijun mā kuntum taktumūna Remember ye slew a man and fell into a dispute among yourselves as to the crime: But Allah was to bring forth what ye did hide. |
(2:85) | ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ تَقْتُلُونَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَتُخْرِجُونَ فَرِيقًا مِّنكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِهِمْ تَظَٰهَرُونَ عَلَيْهِم بِٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَإِن يَأْتُوكُمْ أُسَٰرَىٰ تُفَٰدُوهُمْ وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِخْرَاجُهُمْ أَفَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِبَعْضِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَتَكْفُرُونَ بِبَعْضٍ فَمَا جَزَآءُ مَن يَفْعَلُ ذَٰلِكَ مِنكُمْ إِلَّا خِزْىٌ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَشَدِّ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَمَا ٱللَّـهُ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ | thumma antum hāʾulāʾi taqtulūna anfusakum wa‑tukhrijūna farīqan minkum min diyārihim taẓāharūna ʿalayhim bi‑l‑ithmi wa‑l‑ʿudwāni wa‑in yatūkum usāra tufādūhum wa‑huwa muḥarramun ʿalaykum ikhrājuhum a‑fa‑tuʾminūna bi‑baʿḍi l‑kitābi wa‑takfurūna bi‑baʿḍin fa‑mā jazāʾu man yafʿalu dhālika minkum illā khizun fī l‑ḥayāti l‑dunyā wa‑yawma l‑qiyāmati yuraddūna ila ashaddi l‑ʿadhābi wa‑mā allāhu bi‑ghāfilin ʿammā taʿmalūna | After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among
yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their
enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as
captives, ye ransom them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them.
Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the
rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but
disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned
to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

(2:87) | وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ بِٱلرُّسُلِ وَءَاتَيْنَا عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَأَيَّدْنَٰهُ بِرُوحِ ٱلْقُدُسِ أَفَكُلَّمَا جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُكُمُ ٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ فَفَرِيقًا كَذَّبْتُمْ وَفَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ | wa‑la‑qad ātaynā mūsā l‑kitāba wa‑qaffaynā min baʿdihi bil‑rusuli wa‑ātaynā ʿīsā ibna maryama l‑bayyināti wa‑ayyadnāhu bi‑rūḥi l‑qudusi afakullamā jāʾakum rasūlun bi‑mā lā tahwā anfusukumu astakbartum fa‑farīqan kadhdhabtum wa‑farīqan taqtulūna | We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession
of messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened
him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a messenger
with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye
called impostors, and others ye slay!

(2:91) | وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ قَالُوا۟ نُؤْمِنُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَيَكْفُرُونَ بِمَا وَرَآءَهُۥ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ قُلْ فَلِمَ تَقْتُلُونَ أَنۢبِيَآءَ ٱللَّـهِ مِن قَبْلُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ | wa‑idhā qīla lahum āminū bimā anzala allāhu qālū nuʾminu bimā unzila ʿalaynā wa‑yakfurūna bi‑mā wa‑rāʾahu wa‑huwa l‑ḥaqqu muṣaddiqan li‑mā maʿahum qul falima taqtulūna anbiyāʾa allāhi min qablu in kuntum muʾminīna | When it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah Hath sent down,
"they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us:" yet they reject all
besides, even if it be Truth confirming what is with them. Say: "Why then
have ye slain the prophets of Allah in times gone by, if ye did indeed
believe?"
Sura al-Baqara 2:91 وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّـهُ قَالُوا۟ نُؤْمِنُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَيَكْفُرُونَ بِمَا وَرَآءَهُۥ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ قُلْ فَلِمَ تَقْتُلُونَ أَنۢبِيَآءَ ٱللَّـهِ مِن قَبْلُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ wa-idhā qīla lahum āminū bimā anzala allāhu qālū nuʾminu bimā unzila ʿalaynā wa-yakfurūna bi-mā wa-rāʾahu wa-huwa l-ḥaqqu muṣaddiqan li-mā maʿahum qul falima taqtulūna anbiyāʾa allāhi min qablu in kuntum muʾminīna When it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah Hath sent down, "they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us:" yet they reject all besides, even if it be Truth confirming what is with them. Say: "Why then have ye slain the prophets of Allah in times gone by, if ye did indeed believe?" |
(2:154) | وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَن يُقْتَلُ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أَمْوَٰتٌۢ بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَشْعُرُونَ | wa‑lā taqūlū li‑man yuqtalu fī sabīli allāhi amwātun bal aḥyāʾun wa‑lākin lā tashʿurūna | And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They
are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not.
Sura al-Baqara 2:154 وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَن يُقْتَلُ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أَمْوَٰتٌۢ بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَشْعُرُونَ wa-lā taqūlū li-man yuqtalu fī sabīli allāhi amwātun bal aḥyāʾun wa-lākin lā tashʿurūna And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not. |
(2:191) | وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأَخْرِجُوهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ أَخْرَجُوكُمْ وَٱلْفِتْنَةُ أَشَدُّ مِنَ ٱلْقَتْلِ وَلَا تُقَٰتِلُوهُمْ عِندَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ حَتَّىٰ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ فِيهِ فَإِن قَٰتَلُوكُمْ فَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ كَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ | wa‑aqtulūhum ḥaythu thaqiftumūhum wa‑akhrijūhum min ḥaythu akhrajūkum wa‑l‑fitnatu ashaddu mina l‑qatli wa‑lā tuqātilūhum ʿinda l‑masjidi l‑ḥarāmi ḥattā yuqātilūkum fīhi fa‑in qātalūkum faqtulūhum ka‑dhālika jazāʾu l‑kāfirīna | And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from
where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than
slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first)
fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of
those who suppress faith.
Sura al-Baqara 2:191 وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأَخْرِجُوهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ أَخْرَجُوكُمْ وَٱلْفِتْنَةُ أَشَدُّ مِنَ ٱلْقَتْلِ وَلَا تُقَٰتِلُوهُمْ عِندَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ حَتَّىٰ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ فِيهِ فَإِن قَٰتَلُوكُمْ فَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ كَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu thaqiftumūhum wa-akhrijūhum min ḥaythu akhrajūkum wa-l-fitnatu ashaddu mina l-qatli wa-lā tuqātilūhum ʿinda l-masjidi l-ḥarāmi ḥattā yuqātilūkum fīhi fa-in qātalūkum faqtulūhum ka-dhālika jazāʾu l-kāfirīna And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. |
(2:251) | فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمُلْكَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا يَشَآءُ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ | fa‑hazamūhum bi‑idhni allāhi wa‑qatala dāwudu jālūta wa‑ātahu allāhu l‑mulka wa‑l‑ḥikmata wa‑ʿallamahu mimmā yashāʾu wa‑lawlā dafʿu allāhi l‑nāsa baʿḍahum bi‑baʿḍin la‑fasadati l‑arḍu wa‑lākinna allāha dhū faḍlin ʿalā l‑ʿālamīna | By Allah's will they routed them; and David slew Goliath; and
Allah gave him power and wisdom and taught him whatever (else) He willed. And
did not Allah Check one set of people by means of another, the earth would
indeed be full of mischief: But Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds.
Sura al-Baqara 2:251 فَهَزَمُوهُم بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّـهِ وَقَتَلَ دَاوُۥدُ جَالُوتَ وَءَاتَىٰهُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلْمُلْكَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُۥ مِمَّا يَشَآءُ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لَّفَسَدَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ fa-hazamūhum bi-idhni allāhi wa-qatala dāwudu jālūta wa-ātahu allāhu l-mulka wa-l-ḥikmata wa-ʿallamahu mimmā yashāʾu wa-lawlā dafʿu allāhi l-nāsa baʿḍahum bi-baʿḍin la-fasadati l-arḍu wa-lākinna allāha dhū faḍlin ʿalā l-ʿālamīna By Allah's will they routed them; and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him power and wisdom and taught him whatever (else) He willed. And did not Allah Check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief: But Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds. |
(3:21) | إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ | inna lladhīna yakfurūna bi‑āyāti allāhi wa‑yaqtulūna l‑nabiyyina bi‑ghayri ḥaqqin wa‑yaqtulūna lladhīna yaʾmurūna bil‑qisṭi mina l‑nāsi fa‑bashshirhum bi‑ʿadhābin alīmin | As to those who deny the Signs of Allah and in defiance of
right, slay the prophets, and slay those who teach just dealing with
mankind, announce to them a grievous penalty.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:21 إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ inna lladhīna yakfurūna bi-āyāti allāhi wa-yaqtulūna l-nabiyyina bi-ghayri ḥaqqin wa-yaqtulūna lladhīna yaʾmurūna bil-qisṭi mina l-nāsi fa-bashshirhum bi-ʿadhābin alīmin As to those who deny the Signs of Allah and in defiance of right, slay the prophets, and slay those who teach just dealing with mankind, announce to them a grievous penalty. |
(3:112) | ضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ أَيْنَ مَا ثُقِفُوٓا۟ إِلَّا بِحَبْلٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَحَبْلٍ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ | ḍuribat ʿalayhimu l‑dhillatu ayna mā thuqifū illā biḥablin mina allāhi wa‑ḥablin mina l‑nāsi wa‑bāʾū bighaḍabin mina allāhi wa‑ḍuribat ʿalayhimu l‑maskanatu dhālika bi‑annahum kānū yakfurūna bi‑āyāti allāhi wa‑yaqtulūna l‑anbiyāʾa bi‑ghayri ḥaqqin dhālika bi‑mā ʿaṣaw wa‑kānū yaʿtadūna | Shame is pitched over them (Like a tent) wherever they are
found, except when under a covenant (of protection) from Allah and from men;
they draw on themselves wrath from Allah, and pitched over them is (the tent
of) destitution. This because they rejected the Signs of Allah, and slew the
prophets in defiance of right; this because they rebelled and transgressed
beyond bounds.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:112 ضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ أَيْنَ مَا ثُقِفُوٓا۟ إِلَّا بِحَبْلٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَحَبْلٍ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّـهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ ḍuribat ʿalayhimu l-dhillatu ayna mā thuqifū illā biḥablin mina allāhi wa-ḥablin mina l-nāsi wa-bāʾū bighaḍabin mina allāhi wa-ḍuribat ʿalayhimu l-maskanatu dhālika bi-annahum kānū yakfurūna bi-āyāti allāhi wa-yaqtulūna l-anbiyāʾa bi-ghayri ḥaqqin dhālika bi-mā ʿaṣaw wa-kānū yaʿtadūna Shame is pitched over them (Like a tent) wherever they are found, except when under a covenant (of protection) from Allah and from men; they draw on themselves wrath from Allah, and pitched over them is (the tent of) destitution. (3:144) | وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ أَفَإِي۟ن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّـهَ شَيْـًٔا وَسَيَجْزِى ٱللَّـهُ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ | wa‑mā muḥammadun illā rasūlun qad khalat min qablihi l‑rusulu a‑fa‑īn māta aw qutila inqalabtum ʿala aʿqābikum wa‑man yanqalib ʿalā ʿaqibayhi fa‑lan yaḍurra allāha shayʾan wasayajzī allāhu l‑shākirīna | Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger
that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn
back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm
will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those
who (serve Him) with gratitude.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:144 وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ أَفَإِي۟ن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّـهَ شَيْـًٔا وَسَيَجْزِى ٱللَّـهُ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ wa-mā muḥammadun illā rasūlun qad khalat min qablihi l-rusulu a-fa-īn māta aw qutila inqalabtum ʿala aʿqābikum wa-man yanqalib ʿalā ʿaqibayhi fa-lan yaḍurra allāha shayʾan wasayajzī allāhu l-shākirīna Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? (3:154) | ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُّعَاسًا يَغْشَىٰ طَآئِفَةً مِّنكُمْ وَطَآئِفَةٌ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّـهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ ظَنَّ ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ يَقُولُونَ هَل لَّنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ مِن شَىْءٍ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَمْرَ كُلَّهُۥ لِلَّـهِ يُخْفُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِم مَّا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَٰهُنَا قُل لَّوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَتْلُ إِلَىٰ مَضَاجِعِهِمْ وَلِيَبْتَلِىَ ٱللَّـهُ مَا فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ | thumma anzala ʿalaykum min baʿdi l‑ghammi amanatan nnuʿāsan yaghshā ṭāʾifatan minkum wa‑ṭāʾifatun qad ahammathum anfusuhum yaẓunnūna billāhi ghayra l‑ḥaqqi ẓanna l‑jāhiliyyati yaqūlūna hal lanā mina l‑amri min shayʾin qul inna l‑amra kullahu lillāhi yukhfūna fī anfusihim mā lā yubdūna la‑ka yaqūlūna law kāna la‑nā mina l‑amri shayʾun mā qutilnā hāhunā qul law kuntum fī buyūtikum labaraza lladhīna kutiba ʿalayhimu l‑qatlu ilā maḍājiʿihim wa‑li‑yabtaliya allāhu mā fī ṣudūrikum wa‑li‑yumaḥḥiṣa mā fī qulūbikum wallāhu ʿalīmun bi‑dhāti l‑ṣudūri | After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a
band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to
anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions
due to ignorance. They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou:
"Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they
dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything
to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here."
Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was
decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but
(all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what
is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:154 ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُّعَاسًا يَغْشَىٰ طَآئِفَةً مِّنكُمْ وَطَآئِفَةٌ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّـهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ ظَنَّ ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ يَقُولُونَ هَل لَّنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ مِن شَىْءٍ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَمْرَ كُلَّهُۥ لِلَّـهِ يُخْفُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِم مَّا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَٰهُنَا قُل لَّوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَتْلُ إِلَىٰ مَضَاجِعِهِمْ وَلِيَبْتَلِىَ ٱللَّـهُ مَا فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ thumma anzala ʿalaykum min baʿdi l-ghammi amanatan nnuʿāsan yaghshā ṭāʾifatan minkum wa-ṭāʾifatun qad ahammathum anfusuhum yaẓunnūna billāhi ghayra l-ḥaqqi ẓanna l-jāhiliyyati yaqūlūna hal lanā mina l-amri min shayʾin qul inna l-amra kullahu lillāhi yukhfūna fī anfusihim mā lā yubdūna la-ka yaqūlūna law kāna la-nā mina l-amri shayʾun mā qutilnā hāhunā qul law kuntum fī buyūtikum labaraza lladhīna kutiba ʿalayhimu l-qatlu ilā maḍājiʿihim wa-li-yabtaliya allāhu mā fī ṣudūrikum wa-li-yumaḥḥiṣa mā fī qulūbikum wallāhu ʿalīmun bi-dhāti l-ṣudūri After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions due to ignorance. (3:156) | يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ إِذَا ضَرَبُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ كَانُوا۟ غُزًّى لَّوْ كَانُوا۟ عِندَنَا مَا مَاتُوا۟ وَمَا قُتِلُوا۟ لِيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّـهُ ذَٰلِكَ حَسْرَةً فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَٱللَّـهُ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَٱللَّـهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ | yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā takūnū kalladhīna kafarū wa‑qālū li‑ikhwānihim idhā ḍarabū fī l‑arḍi aw kānū ghuzzan law kānū ʿindanā mā mātū wa‑mā qutilū li‑yajʿala allāhu dhālika ḥasratan fī qulūbihim wallāhu yuḥyi wa‑yumītu wallāhu bi‑mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun | O ye who believe! Be not like the Unbelievers, who say of
their brethren, when they are travelling through the Earth or engaged in
fighting: "If they had stayed with us, they would not have died, or been
slain." This that Allah may make it a cause of sighs and regrets in their
hearts. It is Allah that gives Life and Death, and Allah sees well all that ye
do.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:156 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ إِذَا ضَرَبُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ كَانُوا۟ غُزًّى لَّوْ كَانُوا۟ عِندَنَا مَا مَاتُوا۟ وَمَا قُتِلُوا۟ لِيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّـهُ ذَٰلِكَ حَسْرَةً فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَٱللَّـهُ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَٱللَّـهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā takūnū kalladhīna kafarū wa-qālū li-ikhwānihim idhā ḍarabū fī l-arḍi aw kānū ghuzzan law kānū ʿindanā mā mātū wa-mā qutilū li-yajʿala allāhu dhālika ḥasratan fī qulūbihim wallāhu yuḥyi wa-yumītu wallāhu bi-mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun O ye who believe! Be not like the Unbelievers, who say of their brethren, when they are travelling through the Earth or engaged in fighting: "If they had stayed with us, they would not have died, or been slain." This that Allah may make it a cause of sighs and regrets in their hearts. It is Allah that gives Life and Death, and Allah sees well all that ye do. |
(3:157) | وَلَئِن قُتِلْتُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أَوْ مُتُّمْ لَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَرَحْمَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ | wa‑laʾin qutiltum fī sabīli allāhi aw muttum la‑maghfiratun mina allāhi wa‑raḥmatun khayrun mimmā yajmaʿūna | And if ye are slain, or die, in the way of Allah, forgiveness
and mercy from Allah are far better than all they could amass.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:157 وَلَئِن قُتِلْتُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أَوْ مُتُّمْ لَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَرَحْمَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ wa-laʾin qutiltum fī sabīli allāhi aw muttum la-maghfiratun mina allāhi wa-raḥmatun khayrun mimmā yajmaʿūna And if ye are slain, or die, in the way of Allah, forgiveness and mercy from Allah are far better than all they could amass. |
(3:158) | وَلَئِن مُّتُّمْ أَوْ قُتِلْتُمْ لَإِلَى ٱللَّـهِ تُحْشَرُونَ | wa‑laʾin muttum aw qutiltum la‑ilā allāhi tuḥsharūna | And if ye die, or are slain, Lo! it is unto Allah that ye are
brought together.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:158 وَلَئِن مُّتُّمْ أَوْ قُتِلْتُمْ لَإِلَى ٱللَّـهِ تُحْشَرُونَ wa-laʾin muttum aw qutiltum la-ilā allāhi tuḥsharūna And if ye die, or are slain, Lo! it is unto Allah that ye are brought together. |
(3:168) | ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا۟ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا۟ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُوا۟ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ | lladhīna qālū li‑ikhwānihim wa‑qaʿadū law aṭāʿūnā mā qutilū qul fa‑idraʾū ʿan anfusikumu l‑mawtā in kuntum ṣādiqīna | (They are) the ones that say, (of their brethren slain), while
they themselves sit (at ease): "If only they had listened to us they would
not have been slain." Say: "Avert death from your own selves, if ye speak
the truth."
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:168 ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا۟ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا۟ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُوا۟ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ lladhīna qālū li-ikhwānihim wa-qaʿadū law aṭāʿūnā mā qutilū qul fa-idraʾū ʿan anfusikumu l-mawtā in kuntum ṣādiqīna (They are) the ones that say, (of their brethren slain), while they themselves sit (at ease): "If only they had listened to us they would not have been slain." Say: "Avert death from your own selves, if ye speak the truth." |
(3:169) | وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أَمْوَٰتًۢا بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ | wa‑lā taḥsabanna lladhīna qutilū fī sabīli allāhi amwātan bal aḥyāʾun ʿinda rabbihim yurzaqūna | Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay,
they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord;
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:169 وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ أَمْوَٰتًۢا بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ wa-lā taḥsabanna lladhīna qutilū fī sabīli allāhi amwātan bal aḥyāʾun ʿinda rabbihim yurzaqūna Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord; |
(3:183) | ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَآ أَلَّا نُؤْمِنَ لِرَسُولٍ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَنَا بِقُرْبَانٍ تَأْكُلُهُ ٱلنَّارُ قُلْ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِى بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِٱلَّذِى قُلْتُمْ فَلِمَ قَتَلْتُمُوهُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ | lladhīna qālū inna allāha ʿahida ilaynā allā numina lirasūlin ḥattā yaʾtiyanā bi‑qurbānin takuluhu l‑nāru qul qad jāʾakum rusulun min qablī bil‑bayyināti wa‑billadhī qultum falima qataltumūhum in kuntum ṣādiqīna | They (also) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in an
messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)."
Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with
what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?"
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:183 ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَآ أَلَّا نُؤْمِنَ لِرَسُولٍ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَنَا بِقُرْبَانٍ تَأْكُلُهُ ٱلنَّارُ قُلْ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِى بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِٱلَّذِى قُلْتُمْ فَلِمَ قَتَلْتُمُوهُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ lladhīna qālū inna allāha ʿahida ilaynā allā numina lirasūlin ḥattā yaʾtiyanā bi-qurbānin takuluhu l-nāru qul qad jāʾakum rusulun min qablī bil-bayyināti wa-billadhī qultum falima qataltumūhum in kuntum ṣādiqīna They (also) said: "Allah took our promise not to believe in an messenger unless He showed us a sacrifice consumed by Fire (From heaven)." Say: "There came to you messengers before me, with clear Signs and even with what ye ask for: why then did ye slay them, if ye speak the truth?" |
(3:195) | فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ أَنِّى لَآ أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَٰمِلٍ مِّنكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ فَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ وَأُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمْ وَأُوذُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِى وَقَٰتَلُوا۟ وَقُتِلُوا۟ لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ثَوَابًا مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسْنُ ٱلثَّوَابِ | fa‑istajāba lahum rabbuhum annī lā uḍīʿu ʿamala ʿāmilin minkum min dhakarin aw unthā baʿḍukum min baʿḍin fa‑lladhīna hājarū wa‑ukhrijū min diyārihim wa‑ūdhū fī sabīlī wa‑qātalū wa‑qutilū la‑ukaffiranna ʿanhum sayyiʾātihim wa‑la‑udkhilannahum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l‑anhāru thawāban min ʿindi allāhi wallāhu ʿindahu ḥusnu l‑thawābi | And their Lord hath accepted of them, and answered them:
"Never will I suffer to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or
female: Ye are members, one of another: Those who have left their homes, or
been driven out therefrom, or suffered harm in My Cause, or fought or been
slain,- verily, I will blot out from them their iniquities, and admit them
into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath;- A reward from the presence of
Allah, and from His presence is the best of rewards."
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:195 فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ أَنِّى لَآ أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَٰمِلٍ مِّنكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ فَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ وَأُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمْ وَأُوذُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِى وَقَٰتَلُوا۟ وَقُتِلُوا۟ لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ثَوَابًا مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسْنُ ٱلثَّوَابِ fa-istajāba lahum rabbuhum annī lā uḍīʿu ʿamala ʿāmilin minkum min dhakarin aw unthā baʿḍukum min baʿḍin fa-lladhīna hājarū wa-ukhrijū min diyārihim wa-ūdhū fī sabīlī wa-qātalū wa-qutilū la-ukaffiranna ʿanhum sayyiʾātihim wa-la-udkhilannahum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru thawāban min ʿindi allāhi wallāhu ʿindahu ḥusnu l-thawābi And their Lord hath accepted of them, and answered them: "Never will I suffer to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female: Ye are members, one of another: Those who have left their homes, or been driven out therefrom, or suffered harm in My Cause, or fought or been slain,- verily, I will blot out from them their iniquities, and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath;- A reward from the presence of Allah, and from His presence is the best of rewards." |
(4:29) | يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَكُم بَيْنَكُم بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنكُمْ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا | yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā takulū amwālakum baynakum bil‑bāṭili illā an takūna tijāratan ʿan tarāḍin minkum wa‑lā taqtulū anfusakum inna allāha kāna bikum raḥīman | O ye who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves in
vanities: But let there be amongst you Traffic and trade by mutual
good-will: Nor kill (or destroy) yourselves: for verily Allah hath been to
you Most Merciful!
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:29 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَكُم بَيْنَكُم بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنكُمْ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā takulū amwālakum baynakum bil-bāṭili illā an takūna tijāratan ʿan tarāḍin minkum wa-lā taqtulū anfusakum inna allāha kāna bikum raḥīman O ye who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves in vanities: But let there be amongst you Traffic and trade by mutual good-will: Nor kill (or destroy) yourselves: for verily Allah hath been to you Most Merciful! |
(4:66) | وَلَوْ أَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنِ ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ أَوِ ٱخْرُجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِكُم مَّا فَعَلُوهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ مِّنْهُمْ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا۟ مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتًا | wa‑law annā katabnā ʿalayhim ani iqtulū anfusakum awi akhrujū min diyārikum mā faʿalūhu illā qalīlun minhum wa‑law annahum faʿalū mā yūʿaẓūna bihi la‑kāna khayran lahum wa‑ashadda tathbītan | If We had ordered them to sacrifice their lives or to leave
their homes, very few of them would have done it: But if they had done what
they were (actually) told, it would have been best for them, and would have
gone farthest to strengthen their (faith);
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:66 وَلَوْ أَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنِ ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ أَوِ ٱخْرُجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِكُم مَّا فَعَلُوهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ مِّنْهُمْ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا۟ مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتًا wa-law annā katabnā ʿalayhim ani iqtulū anfusakum awi akhrujū min diyārikum mā faʿalūhu illā qalīlun minhum wa-law annahum faʿalū mā yūʿaẓūna bihi la-kāna khayran lahum wa-ashadda tathbītan If We had ordered them to sacrifice their lives or to leave their homes, very few of them would have done it: But if they had done what they were (actually) told, it would have been best for them, and would have gone farthest to strengthen their (faith); |
(4:74) | فَلْيُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَمَن يُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَيُقْتَلْ أَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا | fa‑l‑yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi lladhīna yashrūna l‑ḥayāta l‑dunyā bil‑akhirati wa‑man yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi fa‑yuqtal aw yaghlib fa‑sawfa nuʾtīhi ajran ʿaẓīman | Let those fight in the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this
world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah,- whether
he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great
(value).
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:74 فَلْيُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ وَمَن يُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَيُقْتَلْ أَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا fa-l-yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi lladhīna yashrūna l-ḥayāta l-dunyā bil-akhirati wa-man yuqātil fī sabīli allāhi fa-yuqtal aw yaghlib fa-sawfa nuʾtīhi ajran ʿaẓīman Let those fight in the cause of Allah Who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah,- whether he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great (value). |
(4:89) | وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا | waddū law takfurūna ka‑mā kafarū fa‑takūnūna sawāʾan fa‑lā tattakhidhū minhum awliyāʾa ḥattā yuhājirū fī sabīli allāhi fa‑in tawallaw fa‑khudhūhum wa‑aqtulūhum ḥaythu wa‑jadttumūhum wa‑lā tattakhidhū minhum waliyyan wa‑lā naṣīran | They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and
thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their
ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if
they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and
(in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;-
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:89 وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا waddū law takfurūna ka-mā kafarū fa-takūnūna sawāʾan fa-lā tattakhidhū minhum awliyāʾa ḥattā yuhājirū fī sabīli allāhi fa-in tawallaw fa-khudhūhum wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu wa-jadttumūhum wa-lā tattakhidhū minhum waliyyan wa-lā naṣīran They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). (4:91) | سَتَجِدُونَ ءَاخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ كُلَّ مَا رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ أُرْكِسُوا۟ فِيهَا فَإِن لَّمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا | sa‑tajidūna ākharīna yurīdūna an yaʾmanūkum wa‑yaʾmanū qawmahum kulla mā ruddū ilā l‑fitnati urkisū fīhā fa‑in lam yaʿtazilūkum wa‑yulqū ilaykumu l‑salama wa‑yakuffū aydiyahum fa‑khudhūhum wa‑aqtulūhum ḥaythu thaqiftumūhum wa‑ūlāʾikum jaʿalnā la‑kum ʿalayhim sulṭānan mubīnan | Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well
as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they
succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees)
of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever
ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument
against them.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:91 سَتَجِدُونَ ءَاخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ كُلَّ مَا رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ أُرْكِسُوا۟ فِيهَا فَإِن لَّمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا sa-tajidūna ākharīna yurīdūna an yaʾmanūkum wa-yaʾmanū qawmahum kulla mā ruddū ilā l-fitnati urkisū fīhā fa-in lam yaʿtazilūkum wa-yulqū ilaykumu l-salama wa-yakuffū aydiyahum fa-khudhūhum wa-aqtulūhum ḥaythu thaqiftumūhum wa-ūlāʾikum jaʿalnā la-kum ʿalayhim sulṭānan mubīnan Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them. |
(4:92) | وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَن يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَـًٔا وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَـًٔا فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَصَّدَّقُوا۟ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا | wa‑mā kāna li‑muʾminin an yaqtula muʾminan illā khaṭaʾan wa‑man qatala muʾminan khaṭaʾan fa‑taḥrīru raqabatin muʾminatin wa‑diyatun musallamatun ila ahlihi illā an yaṣṣaddaqū fa‑in kāna min qawmin ʿadūwin la‑kum wa‑huwa muʾminun fa‑taḥrīru raqabatin muʾminatin wa‑in kāna min qawmin baynakum wa‑baynahum mīthāqun fadiyatun musallamatun ila ahlihi wa‑taḥrīru raqabatin muʾminatin fa‑man lam yajid fa‑ṣiyāmu shahrayni mutatābiʿayni tawbatan mina allāhi wa‑kāna allāhu ʿalīman ḥakīman | Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so
happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer,
it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation
to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased
belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of
a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have
treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a
believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is
prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for
Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:92 وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَن يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَـًٔا وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَـًٔا فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَصَّدَّقُوا۟ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا wa-mā kāna li-muʾminin an yaqtula muʾminan illā khaṭaʾan wa-man qatala muʾminan khaṭaʾan fa-taḥrīru raqabatin muʾminatin wa-diyatun musallamatun ila ahlihi illā an yaṣṣaddaqū fa-in kāna min qawmin ʿadūwin la-kum wa-huwa muʾminun fa-taḥrīru raqabatin muʾminatin wa-in kāna min qawmin baynakum wa-baynahum mīthāqun fadiyatun musallamatun ila ahlihi wa-taḥrīru raqabatin muʾminatin fa-man lam yajid fa-ṣiyāmu shahrayni mutatābiʿayni tawbatan mina allāhi wa-kāna allāhu ʿalīman ḥakīman Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake, (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom. |
(4:93) | وَمَن يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآؤُهُۥ جَهَنَّمُ خَٰلِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُۥ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُۥ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا | wa‑man yaqtul muʾminan mutaʿammidan fa‑jazāʾuhu jahannamu khālidan fīhā wa‑ghaḍiba allāhu ʿalayhi wa‑laʿanahu wa‑aʿadda lahu ʿadhāban ʿaẓīman | If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is
Hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are
upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him.
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:93 وَمَن يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآؤُهُۥ جَهَنَّمُ خَٰلِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُۥ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُۥ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا wa-man yaqtul muʾminan mutaʿammidan fa-jazāʾuhu jahannamu khālidan fīhā wa-ghaḍiba allāhu ʿalayhi wa-laʿanahu wa-aʿadda lahu ʿadhāban ʿaẓīman If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him. |
(4:157) | وَقَوْلِهِمْ إِنَّا قَتَلْنَا ٱلْمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَٰكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِلَّا ٱتِّبَاعَ ٱلظَّنِّ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِينًۢا | wa‑qawlihim innā qatalnā l‑masīḥa ʿīsā ibna maryama rasūla allāhi wa‑mā qatalūhu wa‑mā ṣalabūhu wa‑lākin shubbiha lahum wa‑inna lladhīna akhtalafū fīhi la‑fī shakkin minhu mā lahum bihi min ʿilmin illā ittibāʿa l‑ẓanni wa‑mā qatalūhu yaqīnan | That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of
Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but
so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of
doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of
a surety they killed him not:-
Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:157 وَقَوْلِهِمْ إِنَّا قَتَلْنَا ٱلْمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّـهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَٰكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِلَّا ٱتِّبَاعَ ٱلظَّنِّ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِينًۢا wa-qawlihim innā qatalnā l-masīḥa ʿīsā ibna maryama rasūla allāhi wa-mā qatalūhu wa-mā ṣalabūhu wa-lākin shubbiha lahum wa-inna lladhīna akhtalafū fīhi la-fī shakkin minhu mā lahum bihi min ʿilmin illā ittibāʿa l-ẓanni wa-mā qatalūhu yaqīnan That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- |
(5:27) | وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱبْنَىْ ءَادَمَ بِٱلْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ ٱلْأَخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ ٱللَّـهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ | wa‑itlu ʿalayhim nabaʾa abna ādama bil‑ḥaqqi idh qarrabā qurbānan fa‑tuqubbila min aḥadihimā wa‑lam yutaqabbal mina l‑akhari qalā la‑aqtulannaka qalā innamā yataqabbalu allāhu mina l‑muttaqīna | Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam.
Behold! they each presented a sacrifice (to Allah): It was accepted from one,
but not from the other. Said the latter: "Be sure I will slay thee."
"Surely," said the former, "Allah doth accept of the sacrifice of those who
are righteous.
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:27 وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱبْنَىْ ءَادَمَ بِٱلْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ ٱلْأَخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ ٱللَّـهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ wa-itlu ʿalayhim nabaʾa abna ādama bil-ḥaqqi idh qarrabā qurbānan fa-tuqubbila min aḥadihimā wa-lam yutaqabbal mina l-akhari qalā la-aqtulannaka qalā innamā yataqabbalu allāhu mina l-muttaqīna Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam. Behold! they each presented a sacrifice (to Allah): It was accepted from one, but not from the other. Said the latter: "Be sure I will slay thee." "Surely," said the former, "Allah doth accept of the sacrifice of those who are righteous. |
(5:28) | لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّـهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ | laʾin basaṭta ilayya yadaka li‑taqtulanī mā anā bibāsiṭin yadiya ilayka liaqtulaka innī akhāfu allāha rabba l‑ʿālamīna | "If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is
not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear Allah,
the cherisher of the worlds.
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:28 لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّـهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ laʾin basaṭta ilayya yadaka li-taqtulanī mā anā bibāsiṭin yadiya ilayka liaqtulaka innī akhāfu allāha rabba l-ʿālamīna "If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear Allah, the cherisher of the worlds. |
(5:30) | فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ | faṭawwaʿat lahu nafsuhu qatla akhīhi faqatalahu fa‑aṣbaḥa mina l‑khāsirīna | The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his
brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones.
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:30 فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ faṭawwaʿat lahu nafsuhu qatla akhīhi faqatalahu fa-aṣbaḥa mina l-khāsirīna The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones. |
(5:32) | مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَنَّهُۥ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَآ أَحْيَا ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ | min ajli dhālika katabnā ʿalā banī isrāʾīla annahu man qatala nafsan bi‑ghayri nafsin aw fasādin fī l‑arḍi fa‑kaʾannama qatala l‑nāsa jamīʿan wa‑man aḥyāhā fakaannamā aḥyā l‑nāsa jamīʿan wa‑la‑qad jāʾathum rusulunā bil‑bayyināti thumma inna kathīran minhum baʿda dhālika fī l‑arḍi la‑musrifūna | On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that
if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading
mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if
any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole
people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs,
yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the
land.
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:32 مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَنَّهُۥ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَآ أَحْيَا ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ min ajli dhālika katabnā ʿalā banī isrāʾīla annahu man qatala nafsan bi-ghayri nafsin aw fasādin fī l-arḍi fa-kaʾannama qatala l-nāsa jamīʿan wa-man aḥyāhā fakaannamā aḥyā l-nāsa jamīʿan wa-la-qad jāʾathum rusulunā bil-bayyināti thumma inna kathīran minhum baʿda dhālika fī l-arḍi la-musrifūna On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. (5:70) | لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا كُلَّمَا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًا كَذَّبُوا۟ وَفَرِيقًا يَقْتُلُونَ | la‑qad akhadhnā mīthāqa banī isrāʾīla wa‑arsalnā ilayhim rusulan kullamā jāʾahum rasūlun bi‑mā lā tahwā anfusuhum farīqan kadhdhabū wa‑farīqan yaqtulūna | We took the covenant of the Children of Israel and sent them
messengers, every time, there came to them a messenger with what they
themselves desired not - some (of these) they called impostors, and some
they (go so far as to) slay.
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:70 لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا كُلَّمَا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًا كَذَّبُوا۟ وَفَرِيقًا يَقْتُلُونَ la-qad akhadhnā mīthāqa banī isrāʾīla wa-arsalnā ilayhim rusulan kullamā jāʾahum rasūlun bi-mā lā tahwā anfusuhum farīqan kadhdhabū wa-farīqan yaqtulūna We took the covenant of the Children of Israel and sent them messengers, every time, there came to them a messenger with what they themselves desired not - some (of these) they called impostors, and some they (go so far as to) slay. |
(5:95) | يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلصَّيْدَ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ وَمَن قَتَلَهُۥ مِنكُم مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآءٌ مِّثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ ٱلنَّعَمِ يَحْكُمُ بِهِۦ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ هَدْيًۢا بَٰلِغَ ٱلْكَعْبَةِ أَوْ كَفَّٰرَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسَٰكِينَ أَوْ عَدْلُ ذَٰلِكَ صِيَامًا لِّيَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِۦ عَفَا ٱللَّـهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَيَنتَقِمُ ٱللَّـهُ مِنْهُ وَٱللَّـهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ | yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā taqtulū l‑ṣayda wa‑antum ḥurumun wa‑man qatalahu minkum mutaʿammidan fa‑jazāʾun mithlu mā qatala mina l‑naʿami yaḥkumu bihi dhawā ʿadlin minkum hadyan bāligha l‑kaʿbati aw kaffāratun ṭaʿāmu masākīna aw ʿadlu dhālika ṣiyāmān li‑yadhūqa wabāla amrihi ʿafā allāhu ʿammā salafa wa‑man ʿāda fa‑yantaqimu allāhu minhu wallāhu ʿazīzun dhū intiqāmin | O ye who believe! Kill not game while in the sacred precincts
or in pilgrim garb. If any of you doth so intentionally, the compensation
is an offering, brought to the Ka'ba, of a domestic animal equivalent to
the one he killed, as adjudged by two just men among you; or by way of
atonement, the feeding of the indigent; or its equivalent in fasts: that he
may taste of the penalty of his deed. Allah forgives what is past: for
repetition Allah will exact from him the penalty. For Allah is Exalted, and
Lord of Retribution.
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:95 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلصَّيْدَ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ وَمَن قَتَلَهُۥ مِنكُم مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآءٌ مِّثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ ٱلنَّعَمِ يَحْكُمُ بِهِۦ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ هَدْيًۢا بَٰلِغَ ٱلْكَعْبَةِ أَوْ كَفَّٰرَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسَٰكِينَ أَوْ عَدْلُ ذَٰلِكَ صِيَامًا لِّيَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِۦ عَفَا ٱللَّـهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَيَنتَقِمُ ٱللَّـهُ مِنْهُ وَٱللَّـهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā taqtulū l-ṣayda wa-antum ḥurumun wa-man qatalahu minkum mutaʿammidan fa-jazāʾun mithlu mā qatala mina l-naʿami yaḥkumu bihi dhawā ʿadlin minkum hadyan bāligha l-kaʿbati aw kaffāratun ṭaʿāmu masākīna aw ʿadlu dhālika ṣiyāmān li-yadhūqa wabāla amrihi ʿafā allāhu ʿammā salafa wa-man ʿāda fa-yantaqimu allāhu minhu wallāhu ʿazīzun dhū intiqāmin O ye who believe! (6:140) | قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَهُمْ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ | qad khasira lladhīna qatalū awlādahum safahan bi‑ghayri ʿilmin wa‑ḥarramū mā razaqahumu allāhu iftirāʾan ʿalā allāhi qad ḍallū wa‑mā kānū muhtadīna | Lost are those who slay their children, from folly, without
knowledge, and forbid food which Allah hath provided for them, inventing
(lies) against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and heeded no guidance.
Sura al-Anʿām 6:140 قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَهُمْ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَى ٱللَّـهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ qad khasira lladhīna qatalū awlādahum safahan bi-ghayri ʿilmin wa-ḥarramū mā razaqahumu allāhu iftirāʾan ʿalā allāhi qad ḍallū wa-mā kānū muhtadīna Lost are those who slay their children, from folly, without knowledge, and forbid food which Allah hath provided for them, inventing (lies) against Allah. They have indeed gone astray and heeded no guidance. |
(6:151) | قُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَٰنًا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُم مِّنْ إِمْلَٰقٍ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ | qul taʿālaw atlu mā ḥarrama rabbukum ʿalaykum allā tushrikū bihi shayʾan wa‑bil‑wālidayni iḥsānan wa‑lā taqtulū awlādakum min imlāqin nnaḥnu narzuqukum wa‑iyyāhum wa‑lā taqrabū l‑fawāḥisha mā ẓahara minhā wa‑mā baṭana wa‑lā taqtulū l‑nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil‑ḥaqqi dhālikum waṣṣakum bihi la‑ʿallakum taʿqilūna | Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited
you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents;
kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you
and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret;
take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and
law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.
Sura al-Anʿām 6:151 قُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَٰنًا وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُم مِّنْ إِمْلَٰقٍ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ qul taʿālaw atlu mā ḥarrama rabbukum ʿalaykum allā tushrikū bihi shayʾan wa-bil-wālidayni iḥsānan wa-lā taqtulū awlādakum min imlāqin nnaḥnu narzuqukum wa-iyyāhum wa-lā taqrabū l-fawāḥisha mā ẓahara minhā wa-mā baṭana wa-lā taqtulū l-nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil-ḥaqqi dhālikum waṣṣakum bihi la-ʿallakum taʿqilūna Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. (7:150) | وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ غَضْبَٰنَ أَسِفًا قَالَ بِئْسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُونِى مِنۢ بَعْدِىٓ أَعَجِلْتُمْ أَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَلْقَى ٱلْأَلْوَاحَ وَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ أَخِيهِ يَجُرُّهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ ٱبْنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱسْتَضْعَفُونِى وَكَادُوا۟ يَقْتُلُونَنِى فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِىَ ٱلْأَعْدَآءَ وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ | wa‑lammā rajaʿa mūsā ilā qawmihi ghaḍbāna asifan qalā biʾsamā khalaftumūnī min baʿdī aʿajiltum amra rabbikum wa‑alqa l‑alwāḥa wa‑akhadha bi‑raʾsi akhīhi yajurruhu ilayhi qalā ibna umma inna l‑qawma istaḍʿafūnī wa‑kādū yaqtulūnanī fa‑lā tushmit biya l‑aʿdāʾa wa‑lā tajʿalnī maʿa l‑qawmi l‑ẓālimīna | When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he
said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make
haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets,
seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron
said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and
went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune,
nor count thou me amongst the people of sin."
Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:150 وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ غَضْبَٰنَ أَسِفًا قَالَ بِئْسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُونِى مِنۢ بَعْدِىٓ أَعَجِلْتُمْ أَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْ وَأَلْقَى ٱلْأَلْوَاحَ وَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ أَخِيهِ يَجُرُّهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ ٱبْنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱسْتَضْعَفُونِى وَكَادُوا۟ يَقْتُلُونَنِى فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِىَ ٱلْأَعْدَآءَ وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ wa-lammā rajaʿa mūsā ilā qawmihi ghaḍbāna asifan qalā biʾsamā khalaftumūnī min baʿdī aʿajiltum amra rabbikum wa-alqa l-alwāḥa wa-akhadha bi-raʾsi akhīhi yajurruhu ilayhi qalā ibna umma inna l-qawma istaḍʿafūnī wa-kādū yaqtulūnanī fa-lā tushmit biya l-aʿdāʾa wa-lā tajʿalnī maʿa l-qawmi l-ẓālimīna When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin." |
(8:17) | فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ قَتَلَهُمْ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ رَمَىٰ وَلِيُبْلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَآءً حَسَنًا إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ | falam taqtulūhum wa‑lākinna allāha qatalahum wa‑mā ramayta idh ramayta wa‑lākinna allāha rama wa‑li‑yubliya l‑muʾminīna minhu balāʾan ḥasanan inna allāha samīʿun ʿalīmun | It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah: when thou threwest (a
handful of dust), it was not thy act, but Allah's: in order that He might
test the Believers by a gracious trial from Himself: for Allah is He Who
heareth and knoweth (all things).
Sura al-Anfāl 8:17 فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ قَتَلَهُمْ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ رَمَىٰ وَلِيُبْلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَآءً حَسَنًا إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ falam taqtulūhum wa-lākinna allāha qatalahum wa-mā ramayta idh ramayta wa-lākinna allāha rama wa-li-yubliya l-muʾminīna minhu balāʾan ḥasanan inna allāha samīʿun ʿalīmun It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah: when thou threwest (a handful of dust), it was not thy act, but Allah's: in order that He might test the Believers by a gracious trial from Himself: for Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things). |
(8:30) | وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱللَّـهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَٰكِرِينَ | wa‑idh yamkuru bika lladhīna kafarū li‑yuthbitūka aw yaqtulūka aw yukhrijūka wa‑yamkurūna wa‑yamkuru allāhu wallāhu khayru l‑mākirīna | Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep
thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home). They plot and
plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah.
Sura al-Anfāl 8:30 وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ ٱللَّـهُ وَٱللَّـهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَٰكِرِينَ wa-idh yamkuru bika lladhīna kafarū li-yuthbitūka aw yaqtulūka aw yukhrijūka wa-yamkurūna wa-yamkuru allāhu wallāhu khayru l-mākirīna Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home). They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah. |
(9:5) | فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُوا۟ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِن تَابُوا۟ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَخَلُّوا۟ سَبِيلَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ | fa‑idhā nsalakha l‑ashhuru l‑ḥurumu faqtulū l‑mushrikīna ḥaythu wa‑jadttumūhum wa‑khudhūhum wa‑aḥṣurūhum wa‑aqʿudū lahum kulla marṣadin fa‑in tābū wa‑aqāmū l‑ṣalāta wa‑ātawu l‑zakāta fakhallū sabīlahum inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun | But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay
the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in
wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and
establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way
for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
Sura al-Tawbah 9:5 فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُوا۟ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِن تَابُوا۟ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَخَلُّوا۟ سَبِيلَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ fa-idhā nsalakha l-ashhuru l-ḥurumu faqtulū l-mushrikīna ḥaythu wa-jadttumūhum wa-khudhūhum wa-aḥṣurūhum wa-aqʿudū lahum kulla marṣadin fa-in tābū wa-aqāmū l-ṣalāta wa-ātawu l-zakāta fakhallū sabīlahum inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. |
(9:111) | إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ فَٱسْتَبْشِرُوا۟ بِبَيْعِكُمُ ٱلَّذِى بَايَعْتُم بِهِۦ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ | inna allāha ishtarā mina l‑muʾminīna anfusahum wa‑amwālahum bi‑anna lahumu l‑jannata yuqātilūna fī sabīli allāhi fa‑yaqtulūna wa‑yuqtalūna waʿdan ʿalayhi ḥaqqan fī l‑tawrāti wa‑l‑injīli wa‑l‑qurʾāni wa‑man awfā biʿahdihi mina allāhi fa‑istabshirū bi‑bayʿikumu alladhī bāyaʿtum bihi wa‑dhālika huwa l‑fawzu l‑ʿaẓīmu | Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their
goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in
His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth,
through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to
his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded:
that is the achievement supreme.
Sura al-Tawbah 9:111 إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ ٱشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ مِنَ ٱللَّـهِ فَٱسْتَبْشِرُوا۟ بِبَيْعِكُمُ ٱلَّذِى بَايَعْتُم بِهِۦ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ inna allāha ishtarā mina l-muʾminīna anfusahum wa-amwālahum bi-anna lahumu l-jannata yuqātilūna fī sabīli allāhi fa-yaqtulūna wa-yuqtalūna waʿdan ʿalayhi ḥaqqan fī l-tawrāti wa-l-injīli wa-l-qurʾāni wa-man awfā biʿahdihi mina allāhi fa-istabshirū bi-bayʿikumu alladhī bāyaʿtum bihi wa-dhālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme. |
(12:9) | ٱقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ أَوِ ٱطْرَحُوهُ أَرْضًا يَخْلُ لَكُمْ وَجْهُ أَبِيكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ قَوْمًا صَٰلِحِينَ | iqtulū yūsufa awi iṭraḥūhu arḍan yakhlu la‑kum wajhu abīkum wa‑takūnū min baʿdihi qawman ṣāliḥīna | "Slay ye Joseph or cast him out to some (unknown) land, that
so the favour of your father may be given to you alone: (there will be time
enough) for you to be righteous after that!"
Sura Yūsuf 12:9 ٱقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ أَوِ ٱطْرَحُوهُ أَرْضًا يَخْلُ لَكُمْ وَجْهُ أَبِيكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ قَوْمًا صَٰلِحِينَ iqtulū yūsufa awi iṭraḥūhu arḍan yakhlu la-kum wajhu abīkum wa-takūnū min baʿdihi qawman ṣāliḥīna "Slay ye Joseph or cast him out to some (unknown) land, that so the favour of your father may be given to you alone: (there will be time enough) for you to be righteous after that!" |
(12:10) | قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِى غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ ٱلسَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ | qalā qāʾilun minhum lā taqtulū yūsufa wa‑alqūhu fī ghayābati l‑jubbi yaltaqiṭhu baʿḍu l‑sayyārati in kuntum fāʿilīna | Said one of them: "Slay not Joseph, but if ye must do
something, throw him down to the bottom of the well: he will be picked up
by some caravan of travellers."
Sura Yūsuf 12:10 قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِى غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ ٱلسَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ qalā qāʾilun minhum lā taqtulū yūsufa wa-alqūhu fī ghayābati l-jubbi yaltaqiṭhu baʿḍu l-sayyārati in kuntum fāʿilīna Said one of them: "Slay not Joseph, but if ye must do something, throw him down to the bottom of the well: he will be picked up by some caravan of travellers." |
(17:31) | وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُمْ خَشْيَةَ إِمْلَٰقٍ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُهُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ إِنَّ قَتْلَهُمْ كَانَ خِطْـًٔا كَبِيرًا | wa‑lā taqtulū awlādakum khashyata imlāqin nnaḥnu narzuquhum wa‑iyyākum inna qatlahum kāna khiṭʾan kabīran | Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide
sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a
great sin.
Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:31 وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَٰدَكُمْ خَشْيَةَ إِمْلَٰقٍ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُهُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ إِنَّ قَتْلَهُمْ كَانَ خِطْـًٔا كَبِيرًا wa-lā taqtulū awlādakum khashyata imlāqin nnaḥnu narzuquhum wa-iyyākum inna qatlahum kāna khiṭʾan kabīran Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin. |
(17:33) | وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظْلُومًا فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِۦ سُلْطَٰنًا فَلَا يُسْرِف فِّى ٱلْقَتْلِ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مَنصُورًا | wa‑lā taqtulū l‑nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil‑ḥaqqi wa‑man qutila maẓlūman fa‑qad jaʿalnā li‑waliyyihi sulṭānan fa‑lā yusrif fī l‑qatli innahu kāna manṣūran | Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just
cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority
(to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the
matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law).
Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:33 وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظْلُومًا فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِۦ سُلْطَٰنًا فَلَا يُسْرِف فِّى ٱلْقَتْلِ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مَنصُورًا wa-lā taqtulū l-nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil-ḥaqqi wa-man qutila maẓlūman fa-qad jaʿalnā li-waliyyihi sulṭānan fa-lā yusrif fī l-qatli innahu kāna manṣūran Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law). |
(18:74) | فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا لَقِيَا غُلَٰمًا فَقَتَلَهُۥ قَالَ أَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا زَكِيَّةًۢ بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ لَّقَدْ جِئْتَ شَيْـًٔا نُّكْرًا | fa‑inṭalaqā ḥatta idhā laqīā ghulāman faqatalahu qalā aqatalta nafsan zakīyatan bi‑ghayri nafsin llaqad jiʾta shayʾan nnukran | Then they proceeded: until, when they met a young man, he slew
him. Moses said: "Hast thou slain an innocent person who had slain none?
Truly a foul (unheard of) thing hast thou done!"
Sura al-Kahf 18:74 فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا لَقِيَا غُلَٰمًا فَقَتَلَهُۥ قَالَ أَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا زَكِيَّةًۢ بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ لَّقَدْ جِئْتَ شَيْـًٔا نُّكْرًا fa-inṭalaqā ḥatta idhā laqīā ghulāman faqatalahu qalā aqatalta nafsan zakīyatan bi-ghayri nafsin llaqad jiʾta shayʾan nnukran Then they proceeded: until, when they met a young man, he slew him. Moses said: "Hast thou slain an innocent person who had slain none? Truly a foul (unheard of) thing hast thou done!" |
(20:40) | إِذْ تَمْشِىٓ أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن يَكْفُلُهُۥ فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّٰكَ فُتُونًا فَلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِىٓ أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٍ يَٰمُوسَىٰ | idh tamshī ukhtuka fa‑taqūlu hal adullukum ʿalā man yakfuluhu farajaʿnāka ila ummika kay taqarra ʿaynuhā wa‑lā taḥzana wa‑qatalta nafsan fa‑najjaynāka mina l‑ghammi wa‑fatannāka futūnan fa‑labithta sinīna fī ahli madyana thumma jiʾta ʿalā qadarin yā‑mūsā | "Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you
one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' So We brought thee back to thy
mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve. Then thou
didst slay a man, but We saved thee from trouble, and We tried thee in
various ways. Then didst thou tarry a number of years with the people of
Midian. Then didst thou come hither as ordained, O Moses!
Sura Ṭā Hā 20:40 إِذْ تَمْشِىٓ أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن يَكْفُلُهُۥ فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّٰكَ فُتُونًا فَلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِىٓ أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٍ يَٰمُوسَىٰ idh tamshī ukhtuka fa-taqūlu hal adullukum ʿalā man yakfuluhu farajaʿnāka ila ummika kay taqarra ʿaynuhā wa-lā taḥzana wa-qatalta nafsan fa-najjaynāka mina l-ghammi wa-fatannāka futūnan fa-labithta sinīna fī ahli madyana thumma jiʾta ʿalā qadarin yā-mūsā "Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' (22:58) | وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ ثُمَّ قُتِلُوٓا۟ أَوْ مَاتُوا۟ لَيَرْزُقَنَّهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا وَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ | wa‑lladhīna hājarū fī sabīli allāhi thumma qutilū aw mātū la‑yarzuqannahumu allāhu rizqan ḥasanan wa‑inna allāha la‑huwa khayru l‑rāziqīna | Those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, and are then
slain or die,- On them will Allah bestow verily a goodly Provision: Truly Allah
is He Who bestows the best provision.
Sura al-Ḥajj 22:58 وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ ثُمَّ قُتِلُوٓا۟ أَوْ مَاتُوا۟ لَيَرْزُقَنَّهُمُ ٱللَّـهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا وَإِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ لَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ wa-lladhīna hājarū fī sabīli allāhi thumma qutilū aw mātū la-yarzuqannahumu allāhu rizqan ḥasanan wa-inna allāha la-huwa khayru l-rāziqīna Those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, and are then slain or die,- On them will Allah bestow verily a goodly Provision: Truly Allah is He Who bestows the best provision. |
(25:68) | وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّـهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًا | wa‑lladhīna lā yadʿūna maʿa allāhi ilāhan ākhara wa‑lā yaqtulūna l‑nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil‑ḥaqqi wa‑lā yaznūna wa‑man yafʿal dhālika yalqa athāman | Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such
life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication;
- and any that does this (not only) meets punishment.
Sura al-Furqān 25:68 وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّـهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّـهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًا wa-lladhīna lā yadʿūna maʿa allāhi ilāhan ākhara wa-lā yaqtulūna l-nafsa allatī ḥarrama allāhu illā bil-ḥaqqi wa-lā yaznūna wa-man yafʿal dhālika yalqa athāman Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment. |
(26:14) | وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ | wa‑lahum ʿalayya dhanbun fa‑akhāfu an yaqtulūni | "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I
fear they may slay me."
Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:14 وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ wa-lahum ʿalayya dhanbun fa-akhāfu an yaqtulūni "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." |
