Surah 4 al-Nisāʾ (The Women)
RefArabic    TransliterationTranslation
(4:140)

وَقَدْ  نَزَّلَ  عَلَيْكُمْ  فِى  ٱلْكِتَٰبِ  أَنْ  إِذَا  سَمِعْتُمْ  ءَايَٰتِ  ٱللَّـهِ  يُكْفَرُ  بِهَا  وَيُسْتَهْزَأُ  بِهَا  فَلَا  تَقْعُدُوا۟  مَعَهُمْ  حَتَّىٰ  يَخُوضُوا۟  فِى  حَدِيثٍ  غَيْرِهِۦٓ  إِنَّكُمْ  إِذًا  مِّثْلُهُمْ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  جَامِعُ  ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ  وَٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ  فِى  جَهَنَّمَ  جَمِيعًا wa‑qad nazzala ʿalaykum l‑kitābi an idhā samiʿtum āyāti allāhi yukfaru bihā wa‑yustahzaʾu bihā fa‑lā taqʿudū maʿahum ḥattā yakhūḍū ḥadīthin ghayrihi innakum idhan mithluhum inna allāha jāmiʿu l‑munāfiqīna wa‑l‑kāfirīna jahannama jamīʿan
Already has He sent you Word in the Book, that when ye hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, ye are not to sit with them unless they turn to a different theme: if ye did, ye would be like them. For Allah will collect the hypocrites and those who defy faith - all in Hell:-

Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)
(6:68)

وَإِذَا  رَأَيْتَ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يَخُوضُونَ  فِىٓ  ءَايَٰتِنَا  فَأَعْرِضْ  عَنْهُمْ  حَتَّىٰ  يَخُوضُوا۟  فِى  حَدِيثٍ  غَيْرِهِۦ  وَإِمَّا  يُنسِيَنَّكَ  ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ  فَلَا  تَقْعُدْ  بَعْدَ  ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ  مَعَ  ٱلْقَوْمِ  ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ wa‑idhā raayta lladhīna yakhūḍūna āyātinā fa‑aʿriḍ ʿanhum ḥattā yakhūḍū ḥadīthin ghayrihi wa‑immā yunsiyannaka l‑shayṭānu fa‑lā taqʿud baʿda l‑dhikrā maʿa l‑qawmi l‑ẓālimīna
When thou seest men engaged in vain discourse about Our signs, turn away from them unless they turn to a different theme. If Satan ever makes thee forget, then after recollection, sit not thou in the company of those who do wrong.

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:86)

وَلَا  تَقْعُدُوا۟  بِكُلِّ  صِرَٰطٍ  تُوعِدُونَ  وَتَصُدُّونَ  عَن  سَبِيلِ  ٱللَّـهِ  مَنْ  ءَامَنَ  بِهِۦ  وَتَبْغُونَهَا  عِوَجًا  وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟  إِذْ  كُنتُمْ  قَلِيلًا  فَكَثَّرَكُمْ  وَٱنظُرُوا۟  كَيْفَ  كَانَ  عَٰقِبَةُ  ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ wa‑lā taqʿudū bi‑kulli ṣirāṭin tūʿidūna wa‑taṣuddūna ʿan sabīli allāhi man āmana bihi wa‑tabghūnahā ʿiwajan wa‑idhkurū idh kuntum qalīlan fa‑kaththarakum wa‑anẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l‑mufsidīna
"And squat not on every road, breathing threats, hindering from the path of Allah those who believe in Him, and seeking in it something crooked; But remember how ye were little, and He gave you increase. And hold in your mind's eye what was the end of those who did mischief.

Surah 9 al-Tawbah (Repentance)
(9:5)

فَإِذَا  ٱنسَلَخَ  ٱلْأَشْهُرُ  ٱلْحُرُمُ  فَٱقْتُلُوا۟  ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ  حَيْثُ  وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ  وَخُذُوهُمْ  وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ  وَٱقْعُدُوا۟  لَهُمْ  كُلَّ  مَرْصَدٍ  فَإِن  تَابُوا۟  وَأَقَامُوا۟  ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ  وَءَاتَوُا۟  ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ  فَخَلُّوا۟  سَبِيلَهُمْ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  غَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ fa‑idhā nsalakha l‑ashhuru l‑ḥurumu faqtulū l‑mushrikīna ḥaythu wa‑jadttumūhum wa‑khudhūhum wa‑aḥṣurūhum wa‑aqʿudū lahum kulla marṣadin fa‑in tābū wa‑aqāmū l‑ṣalāta wa‑ātawu l‑zakāta fakhallū sabīlahum inna allāha ghafūrun raḥīmun
But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
(9:46)

وَلَوْ  أَرَادُوا۟  ٱلْخُرُوجَ  لَأَعَدُّوا۟  لَهُۥ  عُدَّةً  وَلَٰكِن  كَرِهَ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمْ  فَثَبَّطَهُمْ  وَقِيلَ  ٱقْعُدُوا۟  مَعَ  ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ wa‑law arādū l‑khurūja la‑aʿaddū lahu ʿuddatan wa‑lākin kariha allāhu inbiʿāthahum fa‑thabbaṭahum wa‑qīla iqʿudū maʿa l‑qāʿidīna
If they had intended to come out, they would certainly have made some preparation therefor; but Allah was averse to their being sent forth; so He made them lag behind, and they were told, "Sit ye among those who sit (inactive)."
(9:83)

فَإِن  رَّجَعَكَ  ٱللَّـهُ  إِلَىٰ  طَآئِفَةٍ  مِّنْهُمْ  فَٱسْتَـْٔذَنُوكَ  لِلْخُرُوجِ  فَقُل  لَّن  تَخْرُجُوا۟  مَعِىَ  أَبَدًا  وَلَن  تُقَٰتِلُوا۟  مَعِىَ  عَدُوًّا  إِنَّكُمْ  رَضِيتُم  بِٱلْقُعُودِ  أَوَّلَ  مَرَّةٍ  فَٱقْعُدُوا۟  مَعَ  ٱلْخَٰلِفِينَ fa‑in rrajaʿaka allāhu ilā ṭāʾifatin minhum fa‑istadhanūka lil‑khurūji faqul lan takhrujū maʿiya abadan wa‑lan tuqātilū maʿiya ʿadūwan innakum raḍītum bil‑quʿūdi awwala marratin fa‑iqʿudū maʿa l‑khālifīna
If, then, Allah bring thee back to any of them, and they ask thy permission to come out (with thee), say: "Never shall ye come out with me, nor fight an enemy with me: for ye preferred to sit inactive on the first occasion: Then sit ye (now) with those who lag behind."

Surah 17 al-Isrāʾ (The Children of Israel)
(17:22)

لَّا  تَجْعَلْ  مَعَ  ٱللَّـهِ  إِلَٰهًا  ءَاخَرَ  فَتَقْعُدَ  مَذْمُومًا  مَّخْذُولًا tajʿal maʿa allāhi ilāhan ākhara fa‑taqʿuda madhmūman makhdhūlan
Take not with Allah another object of worship; or thou (O man!) wilt sit in disgrace and destitution.
(17:29)

Make not thy hand tied (like a niggard's) to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach, so that thou become blameworthy and destitute.
