(2:143) | وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا وَمَا جَعَلْنَا ٱلْقِبْلَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنتَ عَلَيْهَآ إِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَن يَتَّبِعُ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِمَّن يَنقَلِبُ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ وَإِن كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّـهُ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّـهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَٰنَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ بِٱلنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ | wa‑ka‑dhālika jaʿalnākum ummatan wasaṭan li‑takūnū shuhadāʾa ʿalā l‑nāsi wa‑yakūna l‑rasūlu ʿalaykum shahīdan wa‑mā jaʿalnā l‑qiblata allatī kunta ʿalayhā illā linaʿlama man yattabiʿu l‑rasūla mimman yanqalibu ʿalā ʿaqibayhi wa‑in kānat la‑kabīratan illā ʿalā lladhīna hadā allāhu wa‑mā kāna allāhu li‑yuḍīʿa īmānakum inna allāha bil‑nāsi la‑raʾūfun raḥīmun | Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye
might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over
yourselves; and We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to
test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their
heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except to those
guided by Allah. And never would Allah Make your faith of no effect. For Allah is
to all people Most surely full of kindness, Most Merciful.
Sura al-Baqara 2:143 وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا وَمَا جَعَلْنَا ٱلْقِبْلَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنتَ عَلَيْهَآ إِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَن يَتَّبِعُ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِمَّن يَنقَلِبُ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ وَإِن كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّـهُ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّـهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَٰنَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ بِٱلنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ wa-ka-dhālika jaʿalnākum ummatan wasaṭan li-takūnū shuhadāʾa ʿalā l-nāsi wa-yakūna l-rasūlu ʿalaykum shahīdan wa-mā jaʿalnā l-qiblata allatī kunta ʿalayhā illā linaʿlama man yattabiʿu l-rasūla mimman yanqalibu ʿalā ʿaqibayhi wa-in kānat la-kabīratan illā ʿalā lladhīna hadā allāhu wa-mā kāna allāhu li-yuḍīʿa īmānakum inna allāha bil-nāsi la-raʾūfun raḥīmun Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves; and We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels (From the Faith). (3:127) | لِيَقْطَعَ طَرَفًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَوْ يَكْبِتَهُمْ فَيَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَآئِبِينَ | li‑yaqṭaʿa ṭarafan mina lladhīna kafarū aw yakbitahum fa‑yanqalibū khāʾibīna | That He might cut off a fringe of the Unbelievers or expose
them to infamy, and they should then be turned back, frustrated of their
purpose.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:127 لِيَقْطَعَ طَرَفًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَوْ يَكْبِتَهُمْ فَيَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَآئِبِينَ li-yaqṭaʿa ṭarafan mina lladhīna kafarū aw yakbitahum fa-yanqalibū khāʾibīna That He might cut off a fringe of the Unbelievers or expose them to infamy, and they should then be turned back, frustrated of their purpose. |
(3:144) | وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ أَفَإِي۟ن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّـهَ شَيْـًٔا وَسَيَجْزِى ٱللَّـهُ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ | wa‑mā muḥammadun illā rasūlun qad khalat min qablihi l‑rusulu a‑fa‑īn māta aw qutila inqalabtum ʿala aʿqābikum wa‑man yanqalib ʿalā ʿaqibayhi fa‑lan yaḍurra allāha shayʾan wasayajzī allāhu l‑shākirīna | Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger
that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn
back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm
will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those
who (serve Him) with gratitude.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:144 وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ أَفَإِي۟ن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّـهَ شَيْـًٔا وَسَيَجْزِى ٱللَّـهُ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ wa-mā muḥammadun illā rasūlun qad khalat min qablihi l-rusulu a-fa-īn māta aw qutila inqalabtum ʿala aʿqābikum wa-man yanqalib ʿalā ʿaqibayhi fa-lan yaḍurra allāha shayʾan wasayajzī allāhu l-shākirīna Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude. |
(3:149) | يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ | yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū in tuṭīʿū lladhīna kafarū yaruddūkum ʿala aʿqābikum fa‑tanqalibū khāsirīna | O ye who believe! If ye obey the Unbelievers, they will drive
you back on your heels, and ye will turn back (from Faith) to your own
loss.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:149 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū in tuṭīʿū lladhīna kafarū yaruddūkum ʿala aʿqābikum fa-tanqalibū khāsirīna O ye who believe! If ye obey the Unbelievers, they will drive you back on your heels, and ye will turn back (from Faith) to your own loss. |
(3:174) | فَٱنقَلَبُوا۟ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوٓءٌ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ | fa‑inqalabū biniʿmatin mina allāhi wa‑faḍlin lam yamsashum sūʾun wa‑ittabaʿū riḍwāna allāhi wallāhu dhū faḍlin ʿaẓīmin | And they returned with Grace and bounty from Allah: no harm ever
touched them: For they followed the good pleasure of Allah: And Allah is the
Lord of bounties unbounded.
Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:174 فَٱنقَلَبُوا۟ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوٓءٌ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَ ٱللَّـهِ وَٱللَّـهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ fa-inqalabū biniʿmatin mina allāhi wa-faḍlin lam yamsashum sūʾun wa-ittabaʿū riḍwāna allāhi wallāhu dhū faḍlin ʿaẓīmin And they returned with Grace and bounty from Allah: no harm ever touched them: For they followed the good pleasure of Allah: And Allah is the Lord of bounties unbounded. |
(5:21) | يَٰقَوْمِ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْضَ ٱلْمُقَدَّسَةَ ٱلَّتِى كَتَبَ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ | yā‑qawmi idkhulū l‑arḍa l‑muqaddasata allatī kataba allāhu la‑kum wa‑lā tartaddū ʿala adbārikum fa‑tanqalibū khāsirīna | "O my people! Enter the holy land which Allah hath assigned unto
you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to
your own ruin."
Sura al-Māʾidah 5:21 يَٰقَوْمِ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْضَ ٱلْمُقَدَّسَةَ ٱلَّتِى كَتَبَ ٱللَّـهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ yā-qawmi idkhulū l-arḍa l-muqaddasata allatī kataba allāhu la-kum wa-lā tartaddū ʿala adbārikum fa-tanqalibū khāsirīna "O my people! Enter the holy land which Allah hath assigned unto you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to your own ruin." |
(6:110) | وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَنَذَرُهُمْ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ | wa‑nuqallibu afʾidatahum wa‑abṣārahum ka‑mā lam yuʾminū bihi awwala marratin wa‑nadharuhum fī ṭughyānihim yaʿmahūna | We (too) shall turn to (confusion) their hearts and their
eyes, even as they refused to believe in this in the first instance: We
shall leave them in their trespasses, to wander in distraction.
Sura al-Anʿām 6:110 وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَنَذَرُهُمْ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ wa-nuqallibu afʾidatahum wa-abṣārahum ka-mā lam yuʾminū bihi awwala marratin wa-nadharuhum fī ṭughyānihim yaʿmahūna We (too) shall turn to (confusion) their hearts and their eyes, even as they refused to believe in this in the first instance: We shall leave them in their trespasses, to wander in distraction. |
(7:119) | فَغُلِبُوا۟ هُنَالِكَ وَٱنقَلَبُوا۟ صَٰغِرِينَ | fa‑ghulibū hunālika wa‑inqalabū ṣāghirīna | So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were
made to look small.
Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:119 فَغُلِبُوا۟ هُنَالِكَ وَٱنقَلَبُوا۟ صَٰغِرِينَ fa-ghulibū hunālika wa-inqalabū ṣāghirīna So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. |
(9:48) | لَقَدِ ٱبْتَغَوُا۟ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّـهِ وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَ | laqadi ibtaghawu l‑fitnata min qablu wa‑qallabū la‑ka l‑umūra ḥattā jāa l‑ḥaqqu wa‑ẓahara amru allāhi wa‑hum kārihūna | Indeed they had plotted sedition before, and upset matters for
thee, until,- the Truth arrived, and the Decree of Allah became manifest much
to their disgust.
Sura al-Tawbah 9:48 لَقَدِ ٱبْتَغَوُا۟ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّـهِ وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَ laqadi ibtaghawu l-fitnata min qablu wa-qallabū la-ka l-umūra ḥattā jāa l-ḥaqqu wa-ẓahara amru allāhi wa-hum kārihūna Indeed they had plotted sedition before, and upset matters for thee, until,- the Truth arrived, and the Decree of Allah became manifest much to their disgust. |
(9:95) | سَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ لَكُمْ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لِتُعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ | sa‑yaḥlifūna billāhi la‑kum idhā inqalabtum ilayhim li‑tuʿriḍū ʿanhum fa‑aʿriḍū ʿanhum innahum rijsun wa‑maʾwāhum jahannamu jazāʾan bi‑mā kānū yaksibūna | They will swear to you by Allah, when ye return to them, that ye
may leave them alone. So leave them alone: For they are an abomination, and
Hell is their dwelling-place,-a fitting recompense for the (evil) that
they did.
Sura al-Tawbah 9:95 سَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّـهِ لَكُمْ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لِتُعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ sa-yaḥlifūna billāhi la-kum idhā inqalabtum ilayhim li-tuʿriḍū ʿanhum fa-aʿriḍū ʿanhum innahum rijsun wa-maʾwāhum jahannamu jazāʾan bi-mā kānū yaksibūna They will swear to you by Allah, when ye return to them, that ye may leave them alone. So leave them alone: For they are an abomination, and Hell is their dwelling-place,-a fitting recompense for the (evil) that they did. |
(12:62) | وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَٰنِهِ ٱجْعَلُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ فِى رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَآ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ | wa‑qāla li‑fityānihi ajʿalū biḍāʿatahum fī riḥālihim la‑ʿallahum yaʿrifūnahā idhā inqalabū ila ahlihim la‑ʿallahum yarjiʿūna | And (Joseph) told his servants to put their stock-in-trade
(with which they had bartered) into their saddle-bags, so they should know
it only when they returned to their people, in order that they might come
back.
Sura Yūsuf 12:62 وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَٰنِهِ ٱجْعَلُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ فِى رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَآ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ wa-qāla li-fityānihi ajʿalū biḍāʿatahum fī riḥālihim la-ʿallahum yaʿrifūnahā idhā inqalabū ila ahlihim la-ʿallahum yarjiʿūna And (Joseph) told his servants to put their stock-in-trade (with which they had bartered) into their saddle-bags, so they should know it only when they returned to their people, in order that they might come back. |
(18:18) | وَتَحْسَبُهُمْ أَيْقَاظًا وَهُمْ رُقُودٌ وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ وَكَلْبُهُم بَٰسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِٱلْوَصِيدِ لَوِ ٱطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَوَلَّيْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِرَارًا وَلَمُلِئْتَ مِنْهُمْ رُعْبًا | wa‑taḥsabuhum ayqāẓan wa‑hum ruqūdun wa‑nuqallibuhum dhāta l‑yamīni wa‑dhāta l‑shimāli wa‑kalbuhum bāsiṭun dhirāʿayhi bil‑waṣīdi lawi iṭṭalaʿta ʿalayhim la‑wallayta minhum firāran wa‑la‑muliʾta minhum ruʿban | Thou wouldst have deemed them awake, whilst they were asleep,
and We turned them on their right and on their left sides: their dog
stretching forth his two fore-legs on the threshold: if thou hadst come up
on to them, thou wouldst have certainly turned back from them in flight,
and wouldst certainly have been filled with terror of them.
Sura al-Kahf 18:18 وَتَحْسَبُهُمْ أَيْقَاظًا وَهُمْ رُقُودٌ وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ وَكَلْبُهُم بَٰسِطٌ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِٱلْوَصِيدِ لَوِ ٱطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَوَلَّيْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِرَارًا وَلَمُلِئْتَ مِنْهُمْ رُعْبًا wa-taḥsabuhum ayqāẓan wa-hum ruqūdun wa-nuqallibuhum dhāta l-yamīni wa-dhāta l-shimāli wa-kalbuhum bāsiṭun dhirāʿayhi bil-waṣīdi lawi iṭṭalaʿta ʿalayhim la-wallayta minhum firāran wa-la-muliʾta minhum ruʿban Thou wouldst have deemed them awake, whilst they were asleep, and We turned them on their right and on their left sides: their dog stretching forth his two fore-legs on the threshold: if thou hadst come up on to them, thou wouldst have certainly turned back from them in flight, and wouldst certainly have been filled with terror of them. |
(18:42) | وَأُحِيطَ بِثَمَرِهِۦ فَأَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنفَقَ فِيهَا وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا وَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّىٓ أَحَدًا | wa‑uḥīṭa bithamarihi fa‑aṣbaḥa yuqallibu kaffayhi ʿalā mā anfaqa fīhā wahiya khāwiyatun ʿalā ʿurūshihā wa‑yaqūlu yā‑laytanī lam ushrik bi‑rabbī aḥadan | So his fruits (and enjoyment) were encompassed (with ruin),
and he remained twisting and turning his hands over what he had spent on
his property, which had (now) tumbled to pieces to its very foundations,
and he could only say, "Woe is me! Would I had never ascribed partners to
my Lord and Cherisher!"
Sura al-Kahf 18:42 وَأُحِيطَ بِثَمَرِهِۦ فَأَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنفَقَ فِيهَا وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا وَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّىٓ أَحَدًا wa-uḥīṭa bithamarihi fa-aṣbaḥa yuqallibu kaffayhi ʿalā mā anfaqa fīhā wahiya khāwiyatun ʿalā ʿurūshihā wa-yaqūlu yā-laytanī lam ushrik bi-rabbī aḥadan So his fruits (and enjoyment) were encompassed (with ruin), and he remained twisting and turning his hands over what he had spent on his property, which had (now) tumbled to pieces to its very foundations, and he could only say, "Woe is me! Would I had never ascribed partners to my Lord and Cherisher!" |
(22:11) | وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَعْبُدُ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ حَرْفٍ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُۥ خَيْرٌ ٱطْمَأَنَّ بِهِۦ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ فِتْنَةٌ ٱنقَلَبَ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦ خَسِرَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةَ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ | wa‑mina l‑nāsi man yaʿbudu allāha ʿalā ḥarfin fa‑in aṣābahu khayrun iṭmaʾanna bihi wa‑in aṣābathu fitnatun inqalaba ʿalā wajhihi khasira l‑dunyā wa‑l‑akhirata dhālika huwa l‑khusrānu l‑mubīnu | There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the
verge: if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a
trial comes to them, they turn on their faces: they lose both this world
and the Hereafter: that is loss for all to see!
Sura al-Ḥajj 22:11 وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَعْبُدُ ٱللَّـهَ عَلَىٰ حَرْفٍ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُۥ خَيْرٌ ٱطْمَأَنَّ بِهِۦ وَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ فِتْنَةٌ ٱنقَلَبَ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦ خَسِرَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْأَخِرَةَ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ wa-mina l-nāsi man yaʿbudu allāha ʿalā ḥarfin fa-in aṣābahu khayrun iṭmaʾanna bihi wa-in aṣābathu fitnatun inqalaba ʿalā wajhihi khasira l-dunyā wa-l-akhirata dhālika huwa l-khusrānu l-mubīnu There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the verge: if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a trial comes to them, they turn on their faces: they lose both this world and the Hereafter: that is loss for all to see! |
(24:37) | رِجَالٌ لَّا تُلْهِيهِمْ تِجَٰرَةٌ وَلَا بَيْعٌ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّـهِ وَإِقَامِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءِ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ | rijālun lā tulhīhim tijāratun wa‑lā bayʿun ʿan dhikri allāhi wa‑iqāmi l‑ṣalawti wa‑ītāʾi l‑zakawti yakhāfūna yawman tataqallabu fīhi l‑qulūbu wa‑l‑abṣāru | By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from
the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of
regular Charity: Their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will
be transformed (in a world wholly new),-
Sura al-Nūr 24:37 رِجَالٌ لَّا تُلْهِيهِمْ تِجَٰرَةٌ وَلَا بَيْعٌ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّـهِ وَإِقَامِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءِ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ rijālun lā tulhīhim tijāratun wa-lā bayʿun ʿan dhikri allāhi wa-iqāmi l-ṣalawti wa-ītāʾi l-zakawti yakhāfūna yawman tataqallabu fīhi l-qulūbu wa-l-abṣāru By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular Charity: Their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will be transformed (in a world wholly new),- |
(24:44) | يُقَلِّبُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ | yuqallibu allāhu l‑layla wa‑l‑nahāra inna fī dhālika la‑ʿibratan li‑lūlī l‑abṣāri | It is Allah Who alternates the Night and the Day: verily in
these things is an instructive example for those who have vision!
Sura al-Nūr 24:44 يُقَلِّبُ ٱللَّـهُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ yuqallibu allāhu l-layla wa-l-nahāra inna fī dhālika la-ʿibratan li-lūlī l-abṣāri It is Allah Who alternates the Night and the Day: verily in these things is an instructive example for those who have vision! |
(26:227) | إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ | illā lladhīna āmanū wa‑ʿamilū l‑ṣāliḥāti wa‑dhakarū allāha kathīran wa‑intaṣarū min baʿdi mā ẓulimū wa‑sa‑yaʿlamu lladhīna ẓalamū aya munqalabin yanqalibūna | Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in
the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly
attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their
affairs will take!
Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:227 إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ كَثِيرًا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ illā lladhīna āmanū wa-ʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti wa-dhakarū allāha kathīran wa-intaṣarū min baʿdi mā ẓulimū wa-sa-yaʿlamu lladhīna ẓalamū aya munqalabin yanqalibūna Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! |
(29:21) | يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ | yuʿadhdhibu man yashāʾu wa‑yarḥamu man yashāʾu wa‑ilayhi tuqlabūna | "He punishes whom He pleases, and He grants Mercy to whom He
pleases, and towards Him are ye turned.
Sura al-ʿAnkabūt 29:21 يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ yuʿadhdhibu man yashāʾu wa-yarḥamu man yashāʾu wa-ilayhi tuqlabūna "He punishes whom He pleases, and He grants Mercy to whom He pleases, and towards Him are ye turned. |
(33:66) | يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَٰلَيْتَنَآ أَطَعْنَا ٱللَّـهَ وَأَطَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَا۠ | yawma tuqallabu wujūhuhum fī l‑nāri yaqūlūna yā‑laytanā aṭaʿnā allāha wa‑aṭaʿnā al‑rasūlā | The Day that their faces will be turned upside down in the
Fire, they will say: "Woe to us! Would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed
the Messenger!"
Sura al-Aḥzāb 33:66 يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَٰلَيْتَنَآ أَطَعْنَا ٱللَّـهَ وَأَطَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَا۠ yawma tuqallabu wujūhuhum fī l-nāri yaqūlūna yā-laytanā aṭaʿnā allāha wa-aṭaʿnā al-rasūlā The Day that their faces will be turned upside down in the Fire, they will say: "Woe to us! Would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger!" |
(48:12) | بَلْ ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَنقَلِبَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِيهِمْ أَبَدًا وَزُيِّنَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَظَنَنتُمْ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ وَكُنتُمْ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا | bal ẓanantum an lan yanqaliba l‑rasūlu wa‑l‑muʾminūna ila ahlīhim abadan wa‑zuyyina dhālika fī qulūbikum wa‑ẓanantum ẓanna l‑sawʾi wa‑kuntum qawman būran | "Nay, ye thought that the Messenger and the Believers would
never return to their families; this seemed pleasing in your hearts, and ye
conceived an evil thought, for ye are a people lost (in wickedness)."
Sura al-Fatḥ 48:12 بَلْ ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَنقَلِبَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِيهِمْ أَبَدًا وَزُيِّنَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَظَنَنتُمْ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ وَكُنتُمْ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا bal ẓanantum an lan yanqaliba l-rasūlu wa-l-muʾminūna ila ahlīhim abadan wa-zuyyina dhālika fī qulūbikum wa-ẓanantum ẓanna l-sawʾi wa-kuntum qawman būran "Nay, ye thought that the Messenger and the Believers would never return to their families; this seemed pleasing in your hearts, and ye conceived an evil thought, for ye are a people lost (in wickedness)." |
(67:4) | ثُمَّ ٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌ | thumma irjiʿi l‑baṣara karratayni yanqalib ilayka l‑baṣaru khāsiʾan wa‑huwa ḥasīrun | Again turn thy vision a second time: (thy) vision will come
back to thee dull and discomfited, in a state worn out.
Sura al-Mulk 67:4 ثُمَّ ٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌ thumma irjiʿi l-baṣara karratayni yanqalib ilayka l-baṣaru khāsiʾan wa-huwa ḥasīrun Again turn thy vision a second time: (thy) vision will come back to thee dull and discomfited, in a state worn out. |
(83:31) | وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ | wa‑idhā inqalabū ila ahlihimu inqalabū fakihīna | And when they returned to their own people, they would return
jesting;
Sura al-Muṭaffifīn 83:31 وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ wa-idhā inqalabū ila ahlihimu inqalabū fakihīna And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; |
(84:9) | وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا | wa‑yanqalibu ila ahlihi masrūran | And he will turn to his people, rejoicing!
Sura al-Inshiqāq 84:9 وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا wa-yanqalibu ila ahlihi masrūran And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! |
