Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)

(6:41)

بَلْ  إِيَّاهُ  تَدْعُونَ  فَيَكْشِفُ  مَا  تَدْعُونَ  إِلَيْهِ  إِن  شَآءَ  وَتَنسَوْنَ  مَا  تُشْرِكُونَ bal iyyāhu tadʿūna fa‑yakshifu tadʿūna ilayhi in shāʾa wa‑tansawna tushrikūna
"Nay,- On Him would ye call, and if it be His will, He would remove (the distress) which occasioned your call upon Him, and ye would forget (the false gods) which ye join with Him!"

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:134)

وَلَمَّا  وَقَعَ  عَلَيْهِمُ  ٱلرِّجْزُ  قَالُوا۟  يَٰمُوسَى  ٱدْعُ  لَنَا  رَبَّكَ  بِمَا  عَهِدَ  عِندَكَ  لَئِن  كَشَفْتَ  عَنَّا  ٱلرِّجْزَ  لَنُؤْمِنَنَّ  لَكَ  وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ  مَعَكَ  بَنِىٓ  إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ wa‑lammā waqaʿa ʿalayhimu l‑rijzu qālū yā‑musā idʿu la‑nā rabbaka bi‑mā ʿahida ʿindaka lain kashafta ʿannā l‑rijza la‑nuʾminanna la‑ka wa‑la‑nursilanna maʿaka banī isrāʾīla
Every time the penalty fell on them, they said: "O Moses! on your behalf call on thy Lord in virtue of his promise to thee: If thou wilt remove the penalty from us, we shall truly believe in thee, and we shall send away the Children of Israel with thee."
(7:135)

فَلَمَّا  كَشَفْنَا  عَنْهُمُ  ٱلرِّجْزَ  إِلَىٰٓ  أَجَلٍ  هُم  بَٰلِغُوهُ  إِذَا  هُمْ  يَنكُثُونَ fa‑lammā kashafnā ʿanhumu l‑rijza ila ajalin hum bālighūhu idhā hum yankuthūna
But every time We removed the penalty from them according to a fixed term which they had to fulfil,- Behold! they broke their word!

Surah 10 Yūnus (Jonah)
(10:12)

وَإِذَا  مَسَّ  ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ  ٱلضُّرُّ  دَعَانَا  لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ  أَوْ  قَاعِدًا  أَوْ  قَآئِمًا  فَلَمَّا  كَشَفْنَا  عَنْهُ  ضُرَّهُۥ  مَرَّ  كَأَن  لَّمْ  يَدْعُنَآ  إِلَىٰ  ضُرٍّ  مَّسَّهُۥ  كَذَٰلِكَ  زُيِّنَ  لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ  مَا  كَانُوا۟  يَعْمَلُونَ wa‑idhā massa l‑insāna l‑ḍurru daʿānā lijanbihi aw qāʿidan aw qāʾiman fa‑lammā kashafnā ʿanhu ḍurrahu marra ka‑an lam yadʿunā ilā ḍurrin massahu ka‑dhālika zuyyina lil‑musrifīna kānū yaʿmalūna
When trouble toucheth a man, He crieth unto Us (in all postures)- lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he passeth on his way as if he had never cried to Us for a trouble that touched him! thus do the deeds of transgressors seem fair in their eyes!
(10:98)

فَلَوْلَا  كَانَتْ  قَرْيَةٌ  ءَامَنَتْ  فَنَفَعَهَآ  إِيمَٰنُهَآ  إِلَّا  قَوْمَ  يُونُسَ  لَمَّآ  ءَامَنُوا۟  كَشَفْنَا  عَنْهُمْ  عَذَابَ  ٱلْخِزْىِ  فِى  ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ  ٱلدُّنْيَا  وَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمْ  إِلَىٰ  حِينٍ fa‑lawlā kānat qaryatun āmanat fa‑nafaʿahā īmānuhā illā qawma yūnusa lammā āmanū kashafnā ʿanhum ʿadhāba l‑khizyi l‑ḥayāti l‑dunyā wa‑mattaʿnāhum ilā ḥīnin
Why was there not a single township (among those We warned), which believed,- so its faith should have profited it,- except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the penalty of ignominy in the life of the present, and permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while.

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:54)

ثُمَّ  إِذَا  كَشَفَ  ٱلضُّرَّ  عَنكُمْ  إِذَا  فَرِيقٌ  مِّنكُم  بِرَبِّهِمْ  يُشْرِكُونَ thumma idhā kashafa l‑ḍurra ʿankum idhā farīqun minkum bi‑rabbihim yushrikūna
Yet, when He removes the distress from you, behold! some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord-

Surah 21 al-Anbiyāʾ (The Prophets)
(21:84)

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا  لَهُۥ  فَكَشَفْنَا  مَا  بِهِۦ  مِن  ضُرٍّ  وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ  أَهْلَهُۥ  وَمِثْلَهُم  مَّعَهُمْ  رَحْمَةً  مِّنْ  عِندِنَا  وَذِكْرَىٰ  لِلْعَٰبِدِينَ fa‑istajabnā lahu fa‑kashafnā bihi min ḍurrin wa‑ātaynāhu ahlahu wa‑mithlahum maʿahum raḥmatan min ʿindinā wa‑dhikrā lil‑ʿābidīna
So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who serve Us.

Surah 23 al-Muʾminūn (The Believers)
(23:75)

وَلَوْ  رَحِمْنَٰهُمْ  وَكَشَفْنَا  مَا  بِهِم  مِّن  ضُرٍّ  لَّلَجُّوا۟  فِى  طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ  يَعْمَهُونَ wa‑law raḥimnāhum wa‑kashafnā bihim min ḍurrin llalajjū ṭughyānihim yaʿmahūna
If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro.

Surah 27 al-Naml (The Ant)
(27:44)

قِيلَ  لَهَا  ٱدْخُلِى  ٱلصَّرْحَ  فَلَمَّا  رَأَتْهُ  حَسِبَتْهُ  لُجَّةً  وَكَشَفَتْ  عَن  سَاقَيْهَا  قَالَ  إِنَّهُۥ  صَرْحٌ  مُّمَرَّدٌ  مِّن  قَوَارِيرَ  قَالَتْ  رَبِّ  إِنِّى  ظَلَمْتُ  نَفْسِى  وَأَسْلَمْتُ  مَعَ  سُلَيْمَٰنَ  لِلَّـهِ  رَبِّ  ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ qīla lahā adkhulī l‑ṣarḥa fa‑lammā raathu ḥasibathu lujjatan wa‑kashafat ʿan sāqayhā qalā innahu ṣarḥun mumarradun min qawārīra qālat rabbi innī ẓalamtu nafsī wa‑aslamtu maʿa sulaymāna lillāhi rabbi l‑ʿālamīna
She was asked to enter the lofty Palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she (tucked up her skirts), uncovering her legs. He said: "This is but a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass." She said: "O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul: I do (now) submit (in Islam), with Solomon, to the Lord of the Worlds."
(27:62)

أَمَّن  يُجِيبُ  ٱلْمُضْطَرَّ  إِذَا  دَعَاهُ  وَيَكْشِفُ  ٱلسُّوٓءَ  وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ  خُلَفَآءَ  ٱلْأَرْضِ  أَءِلَٰهٌ  مَّعَ  ٱللَّـهِ  قَلِيلًا  مَّا  تَذَكَّرُونَ a‑man yujību l‑muḍṭarra idhā daʿāhu wa‑yakshifu l‑sūa wa‑yajʿalukum khulafāʾa l‑arḍi a‑ilāhun maʿa allāhi qalīlan tadhakkarūna
Or, Who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and Who relieves its suffering, and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Little it is that ye heed!

Surah 43 al-Zukhruf (The Embellishment)
(43:50)

فَلَمَّا  كَشَفْنَا  عَنْهُمُ  ٱلْعَذَابَ  إِذَا  هُمْ  يَنكُثُونَ fa‑lammā kashafnā ʿanhumu l‑ʿadhāba idhā hum yankuthūna
But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word.

Surah 44 al-Dukhān (The Evident Smoke)
(44:12)

رَّبَّنَا  ٱكْشِفْ  عَنَّا  ٱلْعَذَابَ  إِنَّا  مُؤْمِنُونَ rabbanā ikshif ʿannā l‑ʿadhāba innā muʾminūna
(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!"

Surah 50 Qāf (Qaf)
(50:22)

لَّقَدْ  كُنتَ  فِى  غَفْلَةٍ  مِّنْ  هَٰذَا  فَكَشَفْنَا  عَنكَ  غِطَآءَكَ  فَبَصَرُكَ  ٱلْيَوْمَ  حَدِيدٌ llaqad kunta ghaflatin min hādhā fa‑kashafnā ʿanka ghiṭāʾaka fabaṣaruka l‑yawma ḥadīdun
(It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!"

Surah 68 al-Qalam (The Pen)
(68:42)

يَوْمَ  يُكْشَفُ  عَن  سَاقٍ  وَيُدْعَوْنَ  إِلَى  ٱلسُّجُودِ  فَلَا  يَسْتَطِيعُونَ yawma yukshafu ʿan sāqin wa‑yudʿawna ilā l‑sujūdi fa‑lā yastaṭīʿūna
The Day that the shin shall be laid bare, and they shall be summoned to bow in adoration, but they shall not be able,-
