Sura al-Baqara 2:195

وَأَنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ وَلَا تُلْقُوا۟ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى ٱلتَّهْلُكَةِ وَأَحْسِنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّـهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

wa-anfiqū fī sabīli allāhi wa-lā tulqū bi-aydīkum ilā l-tahlukati wa-aḥsinū inna allāha yuḥibbu l-muḥsinīna

And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.

Sura Āl-ʿImrān 3:143

وَلَقَدْ كُنتُمْ تَمَنَّوْنَ ٱلْمَوْتَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَلْقَوْهُ فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ

wa-la-qad kuntum tamannawna l-mawtā min qabli an talqawhu fa-qad raaytumūhu wa-antum tanẓurūna

Ye did indeed wish for death before ye met him: Now ye have seen him with your own eyes, (And ye flinch!)

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:115

قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلْقِىَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُلْقِينَ

qālū yā-mūsā immā an tulqiya waimmā an nnakūna naḥnu l-mulqīna

They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?"

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:116

قَالَ أَلْقُوا۟ فَلَمَّآ أَلْقَوْا۟ سَحَرُوٓا۟ أَعْيُنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَٱسْتَرْهَبُوهُمْ وَجَآءُو بِسِحْرٍ عَظِيمٍ

qalā alqū fa-lammā alqaw saḥarū aʿyuna l-nāsi wa-istarhabūhum wa-jāʾū bi-siḥrin ʿaẓīmin

Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:117

وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ

wa-awḥaynā ilā mūsā an alqi ʿaṣāka fa-idhā hiya talqafu mā yafikūna

We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod":and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake!

Sura al-Anfāl 8:15

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ زَحْفًا فَلَا تُوَلُّوهُمُ ٱلْأَدْبَارَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā laqītumu lladhīna kafarū zaḥfan fa-lā tuwallūhumu l-adbāra

O ye who believe! when ye meet the Unbelievers in hostile array, never turn your backs to them.

Sura al-Anfāl 8:44

وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ ٱلْتَقَيْتُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلًا وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِىٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِىَ ٱللَّـهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا وَإِلَى ٱللَّـهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ

wa-idh yurīkumūhum idhi l-taqaytum fī aʿyunikum qalīlan wa-yuqalilukum fī aʿyunihim li-yaqḍiya allāhu amran kāna mafʿūlan wa-ilā allāhi turjaʿu l-umūru

And remember when ye met, He showed them to you as few in your eyes, and He made you appear as contemptible in their eyes: that Allah might accomplish a matter already enacted. For to Allah do all questions go back (for decision).

Sura al-Anfāl 8:45

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةً فَٱثْبُتُوا۟ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّـهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū idhā laqītum fiatan fa-ithbutū wa-idhkurū allāha kathīran la-ʿallakum tufliḥūna

O ye who believe! When ye meet a force, be firm, and call Allah in remembrance much (and often); that ye may prosper:

Sura Yūnus 10:80

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ

fa-lammā jāa l-saḥaratu qalā lahum mūsā alqū mā antum mulqūna

When the sorcerers came, Moses said to them: "Throw ye what ye (wish) to throw!"

Sura Yūsuf 12:10

قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِى غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ ٱلسَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ

qalā qāʾilun minhum lā taqtulū yūsufa wa-alqūhu fī ghayābati l-jubbi yaltaqiṭhu baʿḍu l-sayyārati in kuntum fāʿilīna

Said one of them: "Slay not Joseph, but if ye must do something, throw him down to the bottom of the well: he will be picked up by some caravan of travellers."

Sura Yūsuf 12:93

ٱذْهَبُوا۟ بِقَمِيصِى هَٰذَا فَأَلْقُوهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِ أَبِى يَأْتِ بَصِيرًا وَأْتُونِى بِأَهْلِكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

idhhabū bi-qamīṣī hādhā fa-alqūhu ʿalā wajhi abī yaʾti baṣīran wa-tūnī biahlikum ajmaʿīna

"Go with this my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father: he will come to see (clearly). Then come ye (here) to me together with all your family."

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:39

ذَٰلِكَ مِمَّآ أَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ ٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ ٱللَّـهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتُلْقَىٰ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومًا مَّدْحُورًا

dhālika mimmā awḥā ilayka rabbuka mina l-ḥikmati wa-lā tajʿal maʿa allāhi ilāhan ākhara fa-tulqā fī jahannama malūman madḥūran

These are among the (precepts of) wisdom, which thy Lord has revealed to thee. Take not, with Allah, another object of worship, lest thou shouldst be thrown into Hell, blameworthy and rejected.

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:19

قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَٰمُوسَىٰ

qalā alqihā yā-mūsā

(Allah) said, "Throw it, O Moses!"

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:65

قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلْقِىَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ

qālū yā-mūsā immā an tulqiya waimmā an nnakūna awwala man alqā

They said: "O Moses! whether wilt thou that thou throw (first) or that we be the first to throw?"

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:66

قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُوا۟ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِن سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَىٰ

qalā bal alqū fa-idhā ḥibāluhum wa-ʿiṣīyuhum yukhayyalu ilayhi min siḥrihim annahā tasʿa

He said, "Nay, throw ye first!" Then behold their ropes and their rods-so it seemed to him on account of their magic - began to be in lively motion!

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:69

وَأَلْقِ مَا فِى يَمِينِكَ تَلْقَفْ مَا صَنَعُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُوا۟ كَيْدُ سَٰحِرٍ وَلَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلسَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَتَىٰ

wa-alqi mā fī yamīnika talqaf mā ṣanaʿū innamā ṣanaʿū kaydu sāḥirin wa-lā yufliḥu l-sāḥiru ḥaythu ata

"Throw that which is in thy right hand: Quickly will it swallow up that which they have faked what they have faked is but a magician's trick: and the magician thrives not, (no matter) where he goes."

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:103

لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ ٱلْفَزَعُ ٱلْأَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ هَٰذَا يَوْمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ

lā yaḥzunuhumu l-fazaʿu l-akbaru wa-tatalaqqahumu l-malāʾikatu hādhā yawmukumu alladhī kuntum tūʿadūna

The Great Terror will bring them no grief: but the angels will meet them (with mutual greetings): "This is your Day,- (the Day) that ye were promised."

Sura al-Nūr 24:15

إِذْ تَلَقَّوْنَهُۥ بِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْ وَتَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَاهِكُم مَّا لَيْسَ لَكُم بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ وَتَحْسَبُونَهُۥ هَيِّنًا وَهُوَ عِندَ ٱللَّـهِ عَظِيمٌ

idh talaqqawnahu bi-alsinatikum wa-taqūlūna bi-afwāhikum mā laysa la-kum bihi ʿilmun wa-taḥsabūnahu hayyinan wa-huwa ʿinda allāhi ʿaẓīmun

Behold, ye received it on your tongues, and said out of your mouths things of which ye had no knowledge; and ye thought it to be a light matter, while it was most serious in the sight of Allah.

Sura al-Shuʿarā 26:43

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ

qalā lahum mūsā alqū mā antum mulqūna

Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"

Sura al-Naml 27:6

وَإِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى ٱلْقُرْءَانَ مِن لَّدُنْ حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍ

wainnaka la-tulaqqā l-qurʾāna min lladun ḥakīmin ʿalīmin

As to thee, the Qur'an is bestowed upon thee from the presence of one who is wise and all-knowing.

Sura al-Naml 27:10

وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنٌّ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفْ إِنِّى لَا يَخَافُ لَدَىَّ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ

wa-alqi ʿaṣāka fa-lammā raʾāhā tahtazzu ka-annahā jānnun walla mudbiran wa-lam yuʿaqqib yā-mūsā lā takhaf innī lā yakhāfu ladayya l-mursalūna

"Now do thou throw thy rod!" But when he saw it moving (of its own accord)as if it had been a snake, he turned back in retreat, and retraced not his steps: "O Moses!" (it was said), "Fear not: truly, in My presence, those called as messengers have no fear,-

Sura al-Naml 27:28

ٱذْهَب بِّكِتَٰبِى هَٰذَا فَأَلْقِهْ إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَ

idhhab bi-kitābī hādhā fa-alqih ilayhim thumma tawalla ʿanhum fa-anẓur mādhā yarjiʿūna

"Go thou, with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them: then draw back from them, and (wait to) see what answer they return"...

Sura al-Qaṣaṣ 28:7

وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِى وَلَا تَحْزَنِىٓ إِنَّا رَآدُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

wa-awḥaynā ila ummi mūsā an arḍiʿīhi fa-idhā khifti ʿalayhi fa-alqīhi fī l-yammi wa-lā takhāfī wa-lā taḥzanī innā rāddūhu ilayki wa-jāʿilūhu mina l-mursalīna

So We sent this inspiration to the mother of Moses: "Suckle (thy child), but when thou hast fears about him, cast him into the river, but fear not nor grieve: for We shall restore him to thee, and We shall make him one of Our messengers."

Sura al-Qaṣaṣ 28:31

وَأَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنٌّ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ أَقْبِلْ وَلَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْأَمِنِينَ

wa-an alqi ʿaṣāka fa-lammā raʾāhā tahtazzu ka-annahā jānnun walla mudbiran wa-lam yuʿaqqib yā-mūsā aqbil wa-lā takhaf innaka mina l-aminīna

"Now do thou throw thy rod!" but when he saw it moving (of its own accord) as if it had been a snake, he turned back in retreat, and retraced not his steps: O Moses!" (It was said), "Draw near, and fear not: for thou art of those who are secure.

Sura al-Ṣaffāt 37:97

قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ

qālū ibnū lahu bunyānan fa-alqūhu fī l-jaḥīmi

They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!"

Sura Muḥammad 47:4

فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَضَرْبَ ٱلرِّقَابِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَثْخَنتُمُوهُمْ فَشُدُّوا۟ ٱلْوَثَاقَ فَإِمَّا مَنًّۢا بَعْدُ وَإِمَّا فِدَآءً حَتَّىٰ تَضَعَ ٱلْحَرْبُ أَوْزَارَهَا ذَٰلِكَ وَلَوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّـهُ لَٱنتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَا۟ بَعْضَكُم بِبَعْضٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّـهِ فَلَن يُضِلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

fa-idhā laqītumu lladhīna kafarū fa-ḍarba l-riqābi ḥatta idhā athkhantumūhum fa-shuddū l-wathāqa fa-immā mannan baʿdu wa-immā fidāʾan ḥattā taḍaʿa l-ḥarbu awzārahā dhālika wa-law yashāʾu allāhu la-intaṣara minhum wa-lākin li-yabluwā baʿḍakum bi-baʿḍin wa-lladhīna qutilū fī sabīli allāhi fa-lan yuḍilla aʿmālahum

Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.

Sura Qāf 50:24

أَلْقِيَا فِى جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ

alqīā fī jahannama kulla kaffārin ʿanīdin

(The sentence will be:) "Throw, throw into Hell every contumacious Rejecter (of Allah)!-

Sura Qāf 50:26

ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ مَعَ ٱللَّـهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلشَّدِيدِ

alladhī jaʿala maʿa allāhi ilāhan ākhara fa-alqiyāhu fī l-ʿadhābi l-shadīdi

"Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty."

Sura al-Mumtaḥanah 60:1

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ عَدُوِّى وَعَدُوَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ تُلْقُونَ إِلَيْهِم بِٱلْمَوَدَّةِ وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِمَا جَآءَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْحَقِّ يُخْرِجُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَن تُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ رَبِّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ خَرَجْتُمْ جِهَٰدًا فِى سَبِيلِى وَٱبْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِى تُسِرُّونَ إِلَيْهِم بِٱلْمَوَدَّةِ وَأَنَا۠ أَعْلَمُ بِمَآ أَخْفَيْتُمْ وَمَآ أَعْلَنتُمْ وَمَن يَفْعَلْهُ مِنكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ

yā-ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū ʿaduwwī wa-ʿaduwwakum awliyāʾa tulqūna ilayhim bil-mawaddati wa-qad kafarū bi-mā jāʾakum mina l-ḥaqqi yukhrijūna l-rasūla wa-iyyākum an tūʾminū billāhi rabbikum in kuntum kharajtum jihādan fī sabīlī wa-ibtighāʾa marḍātī tusirrūna ilayhim bil-mawaddati wa-anā aʿlamu bimā akhfaytum wa-mā aʿlantum wa-man yafʿalhu minkum fa-qad ḍalla sawāʾa l-sabīli

O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),- offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.
