Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)

لَآ  إِكْرَاهَ  فِى  ٱلدِّينِ  قَد  تَّبَيَّنَ  ٱلرُّشْدُ  مِنَ  ٱلْغَىِّ  فَمَن  يَكْفُرْ  بِٱلطَّٰغُوتِ  وَيُؤْمِنۢ  بِٱللَّـهِ  فَقَدِ  ٱسْتَمْسَكَ  بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ  ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ  لَا  ٱنفِصَامَ  لَهَا  وَٱللَّـهُ  سَمِيعٌ  عَلِيمٌ ikrāha l‑dīni qad tabayyana l‑rushdu mina l‑ghayyi fa‑man yakfur bil‑ṭāghūti wa‑yuʾmin billāhi fa‑qadi istamsaka bil‑ʿurwati l‑wuthqā infiṣāma lahā wallāhu samīʿun ʿalīmun
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

Surah 5 al-Māʾidah (The Table Spread)
(5:4)

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ  مَاذَآ  أُحِلَّ  لَهُمْ  قُلْ  أُحِلَّ  لَكُمُ  ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُ  وَمَا  عَلَّمْتُم  مِّنَ  ٱلْجَوَارِحِ  مُكَلِّبِينَ  تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ  مِمَّا  عَلَّمَكُمُ  ٱللَّـهُ  فَكُلُوا۟  مِمَّآ  أَمْسَكْنَ  عَلَيْكُمْ  وَٱذْكُرُوا۟  ٱسْمَ  ٱللَّـهِ  عَلَيْهِ  وَٱتَّقُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  سَرِيعُ  ٱلْحِسَابِ yasʾalūnaka mādhā uḥilla lahum qul uḥilla lakumu l‑ṭayyibātu wa‑mā ʿallamtum mina l‑jawāriḥi mukallibīna tuʿallimūnahunna mimmā ʿallamakumu allāhu fa‑kulū mimmā amsakna ʿalaykum wa‑idhkurū isma allāhi ʿalayhi wa‑ittaqū allāha inna allāha sarīʿu l‑ḥisābi
They ask thee what is lawful to them (as food). Say: lawful unto you are (all) things good and pure: and what ye have taught your trained hunting animals (to catch) in the manner directed to you by Allah: eat what they catch for you, but pronounce the name of Allah over it: and fear Allah; for Allah is swift in taking account.

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:170)

وَٱلَّذِينَ  يُمَسِّكُونَ  بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ  وَأَقَامُوا۟  ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ  إِنَّا  لَا  نُضِيعُ  أَجْرَ  ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ wa‑lladhīna yumassikūna bil‑kitābi wa‑aqāmū l‑ṣalāta innā nuḍīʿu ajra l‑muṣliḥīna
As to those who hold fast by the Book and establish regular prayer,- never shall We suffer the reward of the righteous to perish.

Surah 16 al-Naḥl (The Bee)
(16:59)

يَتَوَٰرَىٰ  مِنَ  ٱلْقَوْمِ  مِن  سُوٓءِ  مَا  بُشِّرَ  بِهِۦٓ  أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ  عَلَىٰ  هُونٍ  أَمْ  يَدُسُّهُۥ  فِى  ٱلتُّرَابِ  أَلَا  سَآءَ  مَا  يَحْكُمُونَ yatawāra mina l‑qawmi min sūi bushshira bihi ayumsikuhu ʿalā hūnin am yadussuhu l‑turābi āla sāa yaḥkumūna
With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and) contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on?
(16:79)

أَلَمْ  يَرَوْا۟  إِلَى  ٱلطَّيْرِ  مُسَخَّرَٰتٍ  فِى  جَوِّ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مَا  يُمْسِكُهُنَّ  إِلَّا  ٱللَّـهُ  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  لِّقَوْمٍ  يُؤْمِنُونَ a‑lam yaraw ilā l‑ṭayri musakhkharātin jawwi l‑samāʾi yumsikuhunna illā allāhu inna dhālika la‑āyātin li‑qawmin yuʾminūna
Do they not look at the birds, held poised in the midst of (the air and) the sky? Nothing holds them up but (the power of) Allah. Verily in this are signs for those who believe.

Surah 22 al-Ḥajj (The Pilgrimage)
(22:65)

أَلَمْ  تَرَ  أَنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  سَخَّرَ  لَكُم  مَّا  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  وَٱلْفُلْكَ  تَجْرِى  فِى  ٱلْبَحْرِ  بِأَمْرِهِۦ  وَيُمْسِكُ  ٱلسَّمَآءَ  أَن  تَقَعَ  عَلَى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  إِلَّا  بِإِذْنِهِۦٓ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  بِٱلنَّاسِ  لَرَءُوفٌ  رَّحِيمٌ a‑lam tara annā allāha sakhkhara la‑kum l‑arḍi wa‑l‑fulka tajrī l‑baḥri bi‑amrihi wa‑yumsiku l‑samāʾa an taqaʿa ʿalā l‑arḍi illā bi‑idhnihi inna allāha bil‑nāsi la‑raʾūfun raḥīmun
Seest thou not that Allah has made subject to you (men) all that is on the earth, and the ships that sail through the sea by His Command? He withholds the sky (rain) from failing on the earth except by His leave: for Allah is Most Kind and Most Merciful to man.

Surah 31 Luqmān (Lukman)
(31:22)

وَمَن  يُسْلِمْ  وَجْهَهُۥٓ  إِلَى  ٱللَّـهِ  وَهُوَ  مُحْسِنٌ  فَقَدِ  ٱسْتَمْسَكَ  بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ  ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ  وَإِلَى  ٱللَّـهِ  عَٰقِبَةُ  ٱلْأُمُورِ wa‑man yuslim wajhahu ilā allāhi wa‑huwa muḥsinun fa‑qadi istamsaka bil‑ʿurwati l‑wuthqā wa‑ilā allāhi ʿāqibatu l‑umūri
Whoever submits his whole self to Allah, and is a doer of good, has grasped indeed the most trustworthy hand-hold: and with Allah rests the End and Decision of (all) affairs.

Surah 35 al-Faṭīr (The Creator)
(35:2)

مَّا  يَفْتَحِ  ٱللَّـهُ  لِلنَّاسِ  مِن  رَّحْمَةٍ  فَلَا  مُمْسِكَ  لَهَا  وَمَا  يُمْسِكْ  فَلَا  مُرْسِلَ  لَهُۥ  مِنۢ  بَعْدِهِۦ  وَهُوَ  ٱلْعَزِيزُ  ٱلْحَكِيمُ yaftaḥi allāhu lil‑nāsi min rraḥmatin fa‑lā mumsika lahā wa‑mā yumsik fa‑lā mursila lahu min baʿdihi wa‑huwa l‑ʿazīzu l‑ḥakīmu
What Allah out of his Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can withhold: what He doth withhold, there is none can grant, apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom.
(35:41)

إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  يُمْسِكُ  ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ  وَٱلْأَرْضَ  أَن  تَزُولَا  وَلَئِن  زَالَتَآ  إِنْ  أَمْسَكَهُمَا  مِنْ  أَحَدٍ  مِّنۢ  بَعْدِهِۦٓ  إِنَّهُۥ  كَانَ  حَلِيمًا  غَفُورًا inna allāha yumsiku l‑samāwāti wa‑l‑arḍa an tazūlā wa‑laʾin zālatā in amsakahumā min aḥadin min baʿdihi innahu kāna ḥalīman ghafūran
It is Allah Who sustains the heavens and the earth, lest they cease (to function): and if they should fail, there is none - not one - can sustain them thereafter: Verily He is Most Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving.

Surah 39 al-Zumar (The Companies)
(39:42)

ٱللَّـهُ  يَتَوَفَّى  ٱلْأَنفُسَ  حِينَ  مَوْتِهَا  وَٱلَّتِى  لَمْ  تَمُتْ  فِى  مَنَامِهَا  فَيُمْسِكُ  ٱلَّتِى  قَضَىٰ  عَلَيْهَا  ٱلْمَوْتَ  وَيُرْسِلُ  ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ  إِلَىٰٓ  أَجَلٍ  مُّسَمًّى  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  لِّقَوْمٍ  يَتَفَكَّرُونَ allāhu yatawaffā l‑anfusa ḥīna mawtihā wa‑allatī lam tamut manāmihā fayumsiku allatī qaḍa ʿalayhā l‑mawtā wa‑yursilu l‑ukhrā ila ajalin musamman inna dhālika la‑āyātin li‑qawmin yatafakkarūna
It is Allah that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life), but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect.

Surah 67 al-Mulk (The Kingdom)
(67:19)

أَوَلَمْ  يَرَوْا۟  إِلَى  ٱلطَّيْرِ  فَوْقَهُمْ  صَٰٓفَّٰتٍ  وَيَقْبِضْنَ  مَا  يُمْسِكُهُنَّ  إِلَّا  ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ  إِنَّهُۥ  بِكُلِّ  شَىْءٍۭ  بَصِيرٌ a‑wa‑lam yaraw ilā l‑ṭayri fawqahum ṣāffātin wa‑yaqbiḍna yumsikuhunna illā l‑raḥmānu innahu bi‑kulli shayʾin baṣīrun
Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (Allah) Most Gracious: Truly (Allah) Most Gracious: Truly it is He that watches over all things.
(67:21)

أَمَّنْ  هَٰذَا  ٱلَّذِى  يَرْزُقُكُمْ  إِنْ  أَمْسَكَ  رِزْقَهُۥ  بَل  لَّجُّوا۟  فِى  عُتُوٍّ  وَنُفُورٍ a‑man hādhā alladhī yarzuqukum in amsaka rizqahu bal lajjū ʿutuwwin wa‑nufūrin
Or who is there that can provide you with Sustenance if He were to withhold His provision? Nay, they obstinately persist in insolent impiety and flight (from the Truth).
