Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)

(2:20)

يَكَادُ  ٱلْبَرْقُ  يَخْطَفُ  أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ  كُلَّمَآ  أَضَآءَ  لَهُم  مَّشَوْا۟  فِيهِ  وَإِذَآ  أَظْلَمَ  عَلَيْهِمْ  قَامُوا۟  وَلَوْ  شَآءَ  ٱللَّـهُ  لَذَهَبَ  بِسَمْعِهِمْ  وَأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  عَلَىٰ  كُلِّ  شَىْءٍ  قَدِيرٌ yakādu l‑barqu yakhṭafu abṣārahum kullamā aḍāʾa lahum mashaw fīhi wa‑idhā aẓlama ʿalayhim qāmū wa‑law shāʾa allāhu la‑dhahaba bisamʿihim wa‑abṣārihim inna allāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun
The lightning all but snatches away their sight; every time the light (Helps) them, they walk therein, and when the darkness grows on them, they stand still. And if Allah willed, He could take away their faculty of hearing and seeing; for Allah hath power over all things.

Surah 6 al-Anʿām (The Cattle)
(6:122)

أَوَمَن  كَانَ  مَيْتًا  فَأَحْيَيْنَٰهُ  وَجَعَلْنَا  لَهُۥ  نُورًا  يَمْشِى  بِهِۦ  فِى  ٱلنَّاسِ  كَمَن  مَّثَلُهُۥ  فِى  ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ  لَيْسَ  بِخَارِجٍ  مِّنْهَا  كَذَٰلِكَ  زُيِّنَ  لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ  مَا  كَانُوا۟  يَعْمَلُونَ a‑wa‑man kāna maytan faaḥyaynāhu wa‑jaʿalnā lahu nūran yamshī bihi l‑nāsi ka‑man mathaluhu l‑ẓulumāti laysa bi‑khārijin minhā ka‑dhālika zuyyina lil‑kāfirīna kānū yaʿmalūna
Can he who was dead, to whom We gave life, and a light whereby he can walk amongst men, be like him who is in the depths of darkness, from which he can never come out? Thus to those without faith their own deeds seem pleasing.

Surah 7 al-Aʿrāf (The Heights)
(7:195)

أَلَهُمْ  أَرْجُلٌ  يَمْشُونَ  بِهَآ  أَمْ  لَهُمْ  أَيْدٍ  يَبْطِشُونَ  بِهَآ  أَمْ  لَهُمْ  أَعْيُنٌ  يُبْصِرُونَ  بِهَآ  أَمْ  لَهُمْ  ءَاذَانٌ  يَسْمَعُونَ  بِهَا  قُلِ  ٱدْعُوا۟  شُرَكَآءَكُمْ  ثُمَّ  كِيدُونِ  فَلَا  تُنظِرُونِ alahum arjulun yamshūna bihā am lahum aydin yabṭishūna bihā am lahum aʿyunun yubṣirūna bihā am lahum ādhānun yasmaʿūna bihā quli idʿū shurakāʾakum thumma kīdūni fa‑lā tunẓirūni
Have they feet to walk with? Or hands to lay hold with? Or eyes to see with? Or ears to hear with? Say: "Call your 'god-partners', scheme (your worst) against me, and give me no respite!

Surah 17 al-Isrāʾ (The Children of Israel)
(17:37)

وَلَا  تَمْشِ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  مَرَحًا  إِنَّكَ  لَن  تَخْرِقَ  ٱلْأَرْضَ  وَلَن  تَبْلُغَ  ٱلْجِبَالَ  طُولًا wa‑lā tamshi l‑arḍi maraḥan innaka lan takhriqa l‑arḍa wa‑lan tablugha l‑jibāla ṭūlan
Nor walk on the earth with insolence: for thou canst not rend the earth asunder, nor reach the mountains in height.
(17:95)

قُل  لَّوْ  كَانَ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  مَلَٰٓئِكَةٌ  يَمْشُونَ  مُطْمَئِنِّينَ  لَنَزَّلْنَا  عَلَيْهِم  مِّنَ  ٱلسَّمَآءِ  مَلَكًا  رَّسُولًا qul law kāna l‑arḍi malāʾikatun yamshūna muṭmaʾinnīna la‑nazzalnā ʿalayhim mina l‑samāʾi malakan rrasūlan
Say, "If there were settled, on earth, angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for a messenger."

Surah 20 Ṭā Hā (Ta-Ha)
(20:40)

إِذْ  تَمْشِىٓ  أُخْتُكَ  فَتَقُولُ  هَلْ  أَدُلُّكُمْ  عَلَىٰ  مَن  يَكْفُلُهُۥ  فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ  إِلَىٰٓ  أُمِّكَ  كَىْ  تَقَرَّ  عَيْنُهَا  وَلَا  تَحْزَنَ  وَقَتَلْتَ  نَفْسًا  فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ  مِنَ  ٱلْغَمِّ  وَفَتَنَّٰكَ  فُتُونًا  فَلَبِثْتَ  سِنِينَ  فِىٓ  أَهْلِ  مَدْيَنَ  ثُمَّ  جِئْتَ  عَلَىٰ  قَدَرٍ  يَٰمُوسَىٰ idh tamshī ukhtuka fa‑taqūlu hal adullukum ʿalā man yakfuluhu farajaʿnāka ila ummika kay taqarra ʿaynuhā wa‑lā taḥzana wa‑qatalta nafsan fa‑najjaynāka mina l‑ghammi wa‑fatannāka futūnan fa‑labithta sinīna ahli madyana thumma jiʾta ʿalā qadarin yā‑mūsā
"Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' So We brought thee back to thy mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve. Then thou didst slay a man, but We saved thee from trouble, and We tried thee in various ways. Then didst thou tarry a number of years with the people of Midian. Then didst thou come hither as ordained, O Moses!
(20:128)

أَفَلَمْ  يَهْدِ  لَهُمْ  كَمْ  أَهْلَكْنَا  قَبْلَهُم  مِّنَ  ٱلْقُرُونِ  يَمْشُونَ  فِى  مَسَٰكِنِهِمْ  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  لِّأُو۟لِى  ٱلنُّهَىٰ a‑fa‑lam yahdi lahum kam ahlaknā qablahum mina l‑qurūni yamshūna masākinihim inna dhālika la‑āyātin li‑lūlī l‑nuhā
Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding.

Surah 24 al-Nūr (The Light)
(24:45)

وَٱللَّـهُ  خَلَقَ  كُلَّ  دَآبَّةٍ  مِّن  مَّآءٍ  فَمِنْهُم  مَّن  يَمْشِى  عَلَىٰ  بَطْنِهِۦ  وَمِنْهُم  مَّن  يَمْشِى  عَلَىٰ  رِجْلَيْنِ  وَمِنْهُم  مَّن  يَمْشِى  عَلَىٰٓ  أَرْبَعٍ  يَخْلُقُ  ٱللَّـهُ  مَا  يَشَآءُ  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  عَلَىٰ  كُلِّ  شَىْءٍ  قَدِيرٌ wallāhu khalaqa kulla dābbatin min māʾin fa‑minhum man yamshī ʿalā baṭnihi wa‑minhum man yamshī ʿalā rijlayni wa‑minhum man yamshī ʿala arbaʿin yakhluqu allāhu yashāʾu inna allāha ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun
And Allah has created every animal from water: of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs; and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills for verily Allah has power over all things.

Surah 25 al-Furqān (The Criterion)
(25:7)

وَقَالُوا۟  مَالِ  هَٰذَا  ٱلرَّسُولِ  يَأْكُلُ  ٱلطَّعَامَ  وَيَمْشِى  فِى  ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ  لَوْلَآ  أُنزِلَ  إِلَيْهِ  مَلَكٌ  فَيَكُونَ  مَعَهُۥ  نَذِيرًا wa‑qālū māli hādhā l‑rasūli yakulu l‑ṭaʿāma wa‑yamshī l‑aswāqi lawlā unzila ilayhi malakun fayakūna maʿahu nadhīran
And they say: "What sort of a messenger is this, who eats food, and walks through the streets? Why has not an angel been sent down to him to give admonition with him?
(25:20)

وَمَآ  أَرْسَلْنَا  قَبْلَكَ  مِنَ  ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ  إِلَّآ  إِنَّهُمْ  لَيَأْكُلُونَ  ٱلطَّعَامَ  وَيَمْشُونَ  فِى  ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ  وَجَعَلْنَا  بَعْضَكُمْ  لِبَعْضٍ  فِتْنَةً  أَتَصْبِرُونَ  وَكَانَ  رَبُّكَ  بَصِيرًا wa‑mā arsalnā qablaka mina l‑mursalīna illā innahum la‑yaʾkulūna l‑ṭaʿāma wa‑yamshūna l‑aswāqi wa‑jaʿalnā baʿḍakum li‑baʿḍin fitnatan ataṣbirūna wa‑kāna rabbuka baṣīran
And the messengers whom We sent before thee were all (men) who ate food and walked through the streets: We have made some of you as a trial for others: will ye have patience? for Allah is One Who sees (all things).
(25:63)

وَعِبَادُ  ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ  ٱلَّذِينَ  يَمْشُونَ  عَلَى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  هَوْنًا  وَإِذَا  خَاطَبَهُمُ  ٱلْجَٰهِلُونَ  قَالُوا۟  سَلَٰمًا wa‑ʿibādu l‑raḥmāni lladhīna yamshūna ʿalā l‑arḍi hawnan wa‑idhā khāṭabahumu l‑jāhilūna qālū salāman
And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!";

Surah 28 al-Qaṣaṣ (The Narrative)
(28:25)

فَجَآءَتْهُ  إِحْدَىٰهُمَا  تَمْشِى  عَلَى  ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍ  قَالَتْ  إِنَّ  أَبِى  يَدْعُوكَ  لِيَجْزِيَكَ  أَجْرَ  مَا  سَقَيْتَ  لَنَا  فَلَمَّا  جَآءَهُۥ  وَقَصَّ  عَلَيْهِ  ٱلْقَصَصَ  قَالَ  لَا  تَخَفْ  نَجَوْتَ  مِنَ  ٱلْقَوْمِ  ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ fajāathu iḥdāhumā tamshī ʿalā astiḥyāin qālat inna abī yadʿūka līajzīaka ajra saqayta la‑nā fa‑lammā jāʾahu wa‑qaṣṣa ʿalayhi l‑qaṣaṣa qalā takhaf najawta mina l‑qawmi l‑ẓālimīna
Afterwards one of the (damsels) came (back) to him, walking bashfully. She said: "My father invites thee that he may reward thee for having watered (our flocks) for us." So when he came to him and narrated the story, he said: "Fear thou not: (well) hast thou escaped from unjust people."

Surah 31 Luqmān (Lukman)
(31:18)

وَلَا  تُصَعِّرْ  خَدَّكَ  لِلنَّاسِ  وَلَا  تَمْشِ  فِى  ٱلْأَرْضِ  مَرَحًا  إِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  لَا  يُحِبُّ  كُلَّ  مُخْتَالٍ  فَخُورٍ wa‑lā tuṣaʿʿir khaddaka lil‑nāsi wa‑lā tamshi l‑arḍi maraḥan inna allāha yuḥibbu kulla mukhtālin fakhūrin
"And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for Allah loveth not any arrogant boaster.

Surah 32 al-Sajdah (The Adoration)
(32:26)

أَوَلَمْ  يَهْدِ  لَهُمْ  كَمْ  أَهْلَكْنَا  مِن  قَبْلِهِم  مِّنَ  ٱلْقُرُونِ  يَمْشُونَ  فِى  مَسَٰكِنِهِمْ  إِنَّ  فِى  ذَٰلِكَ  لَءَايَٰتٍ  أَفَلَا  يَسْمَعُونَ a‑wa‑lam yahdi lahum kam ahlaknā min qablihim mina l‑qurūni yamshūna masākinihim inna dhālika la‑āyātin a‑fa‑lā yasmaʿūna
Does it not teach them a lesson, how many generations We destroyed before them, in whose dwellings they (now) go to and fro? Verily in that are Signs: Do they not then listen?

Surah 38 Ṣād (Sad)
(38:6)

وَٱنطَلَقَ  ٱلْمَلَأُ  مِنْهُمْ  أَنِ  ٱمْشُوا۟  وَٱصْبِرُوا۟  عَلَىٰٓ  ءَالِهَتِكُمْ  إِنَّ  هَٰذَا  لَشَىْءٌ  يُرَادُ wa‑inṭalaqa l‑malaʾu minhum ani imshū wa‑iṣbirū ʿala ālihatikum inna hādhā la‑shayʾun yurādu
And the leader among them go away (impatiently), (saying), "Walk ye away, and remain constant to your gods! For this is truly a thing designed (against you)!

Surah 57 al-Ḥadīd (The Iron)
(57:28)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا  ٱلَّذِينَ  ءَامَنُوا۟  ٱتَّقُوا۟  ٱللَّـهَ  وَءَامِنُوا۟  بِرَسُولِهِۦ  يُؤْتِكُمْ  كِفْلَيْنِ  مِن  رَّحْمَتِهِۦ  وَيَجْعَل  لَّكُمْ  نُورًا  تَمْشُونَ  بِهِۦ  وَيَغْفِرْ  لَكُمْ  وَٱللَّـهُ  غَفُورٌ  رَّحِيمٌ yā‑ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū ittaqū allāha wa‑āminū birasūlihi yuʾtikum kiflayni min rraḥmatihi wa‑yajʿal la‑kum nūran tamshūna bihi wa‑yaghfir la‑kum wallāhu ghafūrun raḥīmun
O ye that believe! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a Light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah 67 al-Mulk (The Kingdom)
(67:15)

هُوَ  ٱلَّذِى  جَعَلَ  لَكُمُ  ٱلْأَرْضَ  ذَلُولًا  فَٱمْشُوا۟  فِى  مَنَاكِبِهَا  وَكُلُوا۟  مِن  رِّزْقِهِۦ  وَإِلَيْهِ  ٱلنُّشُورُ huwa alladhī jaʿala lakumu l‑arḍa dhalūlan fa‑imshū manākibihā wa‑kulū min rrizqihi wa‑ilayhi l‑nushūru
It is He Who has made the earth manageable for you, so traverse ye through its tracts and enjoy of the Sustenance which He furnishes: but unto Him is the Resurrection.
(67:22)

أَفَمَن  يَمْشِى  مُكِبًّا  عَلَىٰ  وَجْهِهِۦٓ  أَهْدَىٰٓ  أَمَّن  يَمْشِى  سَوِيًّا  عَلَىٰ  صِرَٰطٍ  مُّسْتَقِيمٍ a‑fa‑man yamshī mukibban ʿalā wajhihi ahdā a‑man yamshī sawiyyan ʿalā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin
Is then one who walks headlong, with his face grovelling, better guided,- or one who walks evenly on a Straight Way?
