Sura al-Baqara 2:114

وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن مَّنَعَ مَسَٰجِدَ ٱللَّـهِ أَن يُذْكَرَ فِيهَا ٱسْمُهُۥ وَسَعَىٰ فِى خَرَابِهَآ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَا كَانَ لَهُمْ أَن يَدْخُلُوهَآ إِلَّا خَآئِفِينَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا خِزْىٌ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

wa-man aẓlamu mimman manaʿa masājida allāhi an yudhkara fīhā ismuhu wa-saʿa fī kharābihā ulāʾika mā kāna lahum an yadkhulūhā illā khāʾifīna lahum fī l-dunyā khizun wa-lahum fī l-akhirati ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmun

And who is more unjust than he who forbids that in places for the worship of Allah, Allah's name should be celebrated?-whose zeal is (in fact) to ruin them? It was not fitting that such should themselves enter them except in fear. For them there is nothing but disgrace in this world, and in the world to come, an exceeding torment.

Sura al-Nisāʾ 4:141

ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَرَبَّصُونَ بِكُمْ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ فَتْحٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّـهِ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ نَكُن مَّعَكُمْ وَإِن كَانَ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ نَصِيبٌ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ نَسْتَحْوِذْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَنَمْنَعْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَٱللَّـهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَلَن يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّـهُ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلًا

lladhīna yatarabbaṣūna bikum fa-in kāna la-kum fatḥun mina allāhi qālū a-lam nakun maʿakum wa-in kāna lil-kāfirīna naṣībun qālū a-lam nastaḥwidh ʿalaykum wa-namnaʿkum mina l-muʾminīna fallāhu yaḥkumu baynakum yawma l-qiyāmati wa-lan yajʿala allāhu lil-kāfirīna ʿalā l-muʾminīna sabīlan

(These are) the ones who wait and watch about you: if ye do gain a victory from Allah, they say: "Were we not with you?"- but if the unbelievers gain a success, they say (to them): "Did we not gain an advantage over you, and did we not guard you from the believers?" but Allah will judge betwixt you on the Day of Judgment. And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the believers.

Sura al-Aʿrāf 7:12

قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَلَّا تَسْجُدَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍ

qalā mā manaʿaka allā tasjuda idh amartuka qalā anā khayrun minhu khalaqtanī min nnārin wa-khalaqtahu min ṭīnin

(Allah) said: "What prevented thee from prostrating when I commanded thee?" He said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay."

Sura al-Tawbah 9:54

وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَٰتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّـهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَ

wa-mā manaʿahum an tuqbala minhum nafaqātuhum illā annahum kafarū billāhi wa-birasūlihi wa-lā yaʾtūna l-ṣalāta illā wa-hum kusāla wa-lā yunfiqūna illā wa-hum kārihūna

The only reasons why their contributions are not accepted are: that they reject Allah and His Messenger; that they come to prayer without earnestness; and that they offer contributions unwillingly.

Sura Yūsuf 12:63

فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا ٱلْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَآ أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ

fa-lammā rajaʿū ila abīhim qālū yā-abānā muniʿa minnā l-kaylu fa-arsil maʿanā akhānā naktal wa-innā lahu la-ḥāfiẓūna

Now when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother): So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed take every care of him."

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:59

وَمَا مَنَعَنَآ أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِٱلْأَيَٰتِ إِلَّآ أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ وَءَاتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ ٱلنَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُوا۟ بِهَا وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِٱلْأَيَٰتِ إِلَّا تَخْوِيفًا

wa-mā manaʿanā an nnursila bil-ayāti illā an kadhdhaba bihā l-awwalūna wa-ātaynā thamūda l-nāqata mubṣiratan fa-ẓalamū bihā wa-mā nursilu bil-ayāti illā takhwīfan

And We refrain from sending the signs, only because the men of former generations treated them as false: We sent the she-camel to the Thamud to open their eyes, but they treated her wrongfully: We only send the Signs by way of terror (and warning from evil).

Sura al-Isrāʾ 17:94

وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ أَبَعَثَ ٱللَّـهُ بَشَرًا رَّسُولًا

wa-mā manaʿa l-nāsa an yuʾminū idh jāʾahumu l-hudā illā an qālū abaʿatha allāhu basharan rrasūlan

What kept men back from belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this: they said, "Has Allah sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger?"

Sura al-Kahf 18:55

وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ قُبُلًا

wa-mā manaʿa l-nāsa an yuʾminū idh jāʾahumu l-hudā wa-yastaghfirū rabbahum illā an taʾtiyahum sunnatu l-awwalīna aw yaʾtiyahumu l-ʿadhābu qubulan

And what is there to keep back men from believing, now that Guidance has come to them, nor from praying for forgiveness from their Lord, but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with them, or the Wrath be brought to them face to face?

Sura Ṭā Hā 20:92

قَالَ يَٰهَٰرُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوٓا۟

qalā yāhārūnu mā manaʿaka idh raʾaytahum ḍallū

(Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong,

Sura al-Anbiyāʾ 21:43

أَمْ لَهُمْ ءَالِهَةٌ تَمْنَعُهُم مِّن دُونِنَا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا يُصْحَبُونَ

am lahum ālihatun tamnaʿuhum min dūninā lā yastaṭīʿūna naṣra anfusihim wa-lā hum minnā yuṣḥabūna

Or have they gods that can guard them from Us? They have no power to aid themselves, nor can they be defended from Us.

Sura Ṣād 38:75

قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَىَّ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِينَ

qalā yā-iblīsu mā manaʿaka an tasjuda li-mā khalaqtu bi-yadayya astakbarta am kunta mina l-ʿālīna

(Allah) said: "O Iblis! What prevents thee from prostrating thyself to one whom I have created with my hands? Art thou haughty? Or art thou one of the high (and mighty) ones?"

Sura al-Māʿūn 107:7

وَيَمْنَعُونَ ٱلْمَاعُونَ

wa-yamnaʿūna l-māʿūna

But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs.
