Surah 2 al-Baqara (The Cow)

(2:258)

أَلَمْ  تَرَ  إِلَى  ٱلَّذِى  حَآجَّ  إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ  فِى  رَبِّهِۦٓ  أَنْ  ءَاتَىٰهُ  ٱللَّـهُ  ٱلْمُلْكَ  إِذْ  قَالَ  إِبْرَٰهِـۧمُ  رَبِّىَ  ٱلَّذِى  يُحْىِۦ  وَيُمِيتُ  قَالَ  أَنَا۠  أُحْىِۦ  وَأُمِيتُ  قَالَ  إِبْرَٰهِـۧمُ  فَإِنَّ  ٱللَّـهَ  يَأْتِى  بِٱلشَّمْسِ  مِنَ  ٱلْمَشْرِقِ  فَأْتِ  بِهَا  مِنَ  ٱلْمَغْرِبِ  فَبُهِتَ  ٱلَّذِى  كَفَرَ  وَٱللَّـهُ  لَا  يَهْدِى  ٱلْقَوْمَ  ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ a‑lam tara ilā alladhī ḥājja ibrāhīma rabbihi an ātahu allāhu l‑mulka idh qalā ibrāhīmu rabbiya alladhī yuḥyi wa‑yumītu qalā anā uḥyi wa‑umītu qalā ibrāhīmu fa‑inna allāha yaʾtī bil‑shamsi mina l‑mashriqi fa‑ʾti bihā mina l‑maghribi fa‑buhita alladhī kafara wallāhu yahdī l‑qawma l‑ẓālimīna
Hast thou not Turned thy vision to one who disputed with Abraham About his Lord, because Allah had granted him power? Abraham said: "My Lord is He Who Giveth life and death." He said: "I give life and death". Said Abraham: "But it is Allah that causeth the sun to rise from the east: Do thou then cause him to rise from the West." Thus was he confounded who (in arrogance) rejected faith. Nor doth Allah Give guidance to a people unjust.

Surah 15 al-Ḥijr (The Rocky Tract)
(15:23)

وَإِنَّا  لَنَحْنُ  نُحْىِۦ  وَنُمِيتُ  وَنَحْنُ  ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ wa‑innā la‑naḥnu nuḥyi wa‑numītu wa‑naḥnu l‑wārithūna
And verily, it is We Who give life, and Who give death: it is We Who remain inheritors (after all else passes away).

Surah 19 Maryam (Mary)
(19:23)

فَأَجَآءَهَا  ٱلْمَخَاضُ  إِلَىٰ  جِذْعِ  ٱلنَّخْلَةِ  قَالَتْ  يَٰلَيْتَنِى  مِتُّ  قَبْلَ  هَٰذَا  وَكُنتُ  نَسْيًا  مَّنسِيًّا fa‑ajāʾahā l‑makhāḍu ilā jidhʿi l‑nakhlati qālat yā‑laytanī mittu qabla hādhā wa‑kuntu nasyan mansiyyan
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): "Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!"
(19:33)

وَٱلسَّلَٰمُ  عَلَىَّ  يَوْمَ  وُلِدتُّ  وَيَوْمَ  أَمُوتُ  وَيَوْمَ  أُبْعَثُ  حَيًّا wa‑l‑salāmu ʿalayya yawma wulidttu wa‑yawma amūtu wa‑yawma ubʿathu ḥayyan
"So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"!
(19:66)

وَيَقُولُ  ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ  أَءِذَا  مَا  مِتُّ  لَسَوْفَ  أُخْرَجُ  حَيًّا wa‑yaqūlu l‑insānu a‑idhā mittu lasawfa ukhraju ḥayyan
Man says: "What! When I am dead, shall I then be raised up alive?"

Surah 23 al-Muʾminūn (The Believers)
(23:37)

إِنْ  هِىَ  إِلَّا  حَيَاتُنَا  ٱلدُّنْيَا  نَمُوتُ  وَنَحْيَا  وَمَا  نَحْنُ  بِمَبْعُوثِينَ in hiya illā ḥayātunā l‑dunyā namūtu wa‑naḥyā wa‑mā naḥnu bi‑mabʿūthīna
"There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again!
(23:82)

قَالُوٓا۟  أَءِذَا  مِتْنَا  وَكُنَّا  تُرَابًا  وَعِظَٰمًا  أَءِنَّا  لَمَبْعُوثُونَ qālū a‑idhā mitnā wa‑kunnā turāban wa‑ʿiẓāman a‑innā la‑mabʿūthūna
They say: "What! when we die and become dust and bones, could we really be raised up again?

Surah 37 al-Ṣaffāt (The Rangers)
(37:16)

أَءِذَا  مِتْنَا  وَكُنَّا  تُرَابًا  وَعِظَٰمًا  أَءِنَّا  لَمَبْعُوثُونَ a‑idhā mitnā wa‑kunnā turāban wa‑ʿiẓāman a‑innā la‑mabʿūthūna
"What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)
(37:53)

أَءِذَا  مِتْنَا  وَكُنَّا  تُرَابًا  وَعِظَٰمًا  أَءِنَّا  لَمَدِينُونَ a‑idhā mitnā wa‑kunnā turāban wa‑ʿiẓāman a‑innā lamadīnūna
"'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'"

Surah 45 al-Jāthiyah (The Kneeling)
(45:24)

وَقَالُوا۟  مَا  هِىَ  إِلَّا  حَيَاتُنَا  ٱلدُّنْيَا  نَمُوتُ  وَنَحْيَا  وَمَا  يُهْلِكُنَآ  إِلَّا  ٱلدَّهْرُ  وَمَا  لَهُم  بِذَٰلِكَ  مِنْ  عِلْمٍ  إِنْ  هُمْ  إِلَّا  يَظُنُّونَ wa‑qālū hiya illā ḥayātunā l‑dunyā namūtu wa‑naḥyā wa‑mā yuhlikunā illā l‑dahru wa‑mā lahum bidhālika min ʿilmin in hum illā yaẓunnūna
And they say: "What is there but our life in this world? We shall die and we live, and nothing but time can destroy us." But of that they have no knowledge: they merely conjecture:

Surah 50 Qāf (Qaf)
(50:3)

أَءِذَا  مِتْنَا  وَكُنَّا  تُرَابًا  ذَٰلِكَ  رَجْعٌۢ  بَعِيدٌ a‑idhā mitnā wa‑kunnā turāban dhālika rajʿun baʿīdun
"What! When we die and become dust, (shall we live again?) That is a (sort of) return far (from our understanding)."
(50:43)

إِنَّا  نَحْنُ  نُحْىِۦ  وَنُمِيتُ  وَإِلَيْنَا  ٱلْمَصِيرُ innā naḥnu nuḥyi wa‑numītu wa‑ilaynā l‑maṣīru
Verily it is We Who give Life and Death; and to Us is the Final Goal-

Surah 56 al-Wāqiʿah (That Which is Coming)
(56:47)

وَكَانُوا۟  يَقُولُونَ  أَئِذَا  مِتْنَا  وَكُنَّا  تُرَابًا  وَعِظَٰمًا  أَءِنَّا  لَمَبْعُوثُونَ wa‑kānū yaqūlūna aidhā mitnā wa‑kunnā turāban wa‑ʿiẓāman a‑innā la‑mabʿūthūna
And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?-
